Chapter I

At the day of the wedding…

Martim was at his room, getting ready for his father's wedding. His room was a spacious one. The walls were painted with a light shade of blue with some posters of his favorite bands and musicians, series and sportspeople and a dark blue carpet covered the floor; his bed had a central position of the room, placed against the wall parallel to the wall where the door was, with two sliding drawers beneath it and sided by a bedside table with a dolphin lamp (a remembrance of his mother); the closet was at the same side as the door and it had sliding doors; there was a chest with sea animals adorning it, with a Portuguese guitar leaning against it, and a chair nearby where his school shoulder bag was resting; there was also a display cabinet that had some trophies for swimming and karate, along with a set of belts going up to black, a violin and a transversal flute and a surf board was leaning against one of the sides of the cabinet; there were also a couple of shelves where there were some books and other things and a desk besides his windowsill where his computer and school books and notebooks were.

He was adjusting his tie in front of the mirror at one corner of his room when Chompp appeared beside him, saying:

"I have to say it, but I never got it why humans make such a fuss about this? So they are a couple, big deal…"

"Are you telling me that you have been interacting with humankind for thousands of years and you never came to understand weddings?" Martim asked, as he finished adjusting his tie.

"Hey, I'm a kwami, we don't have things like that" the kwami replied. "The only thing I love about weddings is the reception. Oh, speaking of which… please tell me they will have pastries with chocolate filling."

That caused Martim to rolled his eyes, amused by his kwami's gluttony. It was then that his phone started ringing and he went to get it, seeing that it was his friend and classmate Daniel Santana.

"Hey there, Dani" he greeted. "How are you?"

Dani was a boy with the same age as Martim, but with a smaller and average structure. He had a brown hair styled with curls with bangs and brown eyes with lining behind glasses with a white frame. He had a pink shirt with a blue rhombus design pattern with a purple jacket on top. His pants were light purple with a black belt and, over his head, he had a dark purple beanie with pink, blue and black spirals. His nails were painted pink, blue, purple, black and white. At that moment, he was walking around the Feira da Ladra, having a bag with fabric he had bought and was looking around other things he may wanted to buy.

"I'm fine, thanks" he replied. "But I heard about what happened… You were turned into a supervillain by that Shadow Moth guy from Paris. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I am, don't worry" Martim replied. "Thanks to Ladybug, everything ended well."

"How can I not worry?" Dani asked. "After all, if you haven't been suspended…"

"Dani, it's not your fault" Martim told him. "Trust me. Shadow Moth was the one to akumatize me. As for the suspension, I don't regret what I did."

"Even so…"

"Hey, para com isso. I'm ótimo. Look, if you still want to come to the wedding…"

"I better not" Dani replied. "Rita going is one thing. She is also a friend of your family, but I just got to the city at the beginning of this school year."

"Hey, I invited a friend I just made at that day" Martim said. "And the daughter of my dad's friend from Paris also wants to be a designer like you. You two could share ideas."

"Obrigado, but I better not" Dani told. "See you back at school."

"Okay, adeus" Martim replied, hanging out the call.

"So… that was that friend that got you suspended?" Chompp asked.

"Chompp, don't say that!" Martim replied. "It was not his fault. He's just having… trouble in settling in. Of course it doesn't help there are rufias that love to torment people that are different than them."

They heard the door knocking.

"Hide" Martim told to his kwami that went to inside of his owners' jacket. "Come in."

The door opened and Marinette got in, with the dress she would use on the wedding.

"Martim, your dad asked me to check if you're ready. We're going now to Oeiras to help finishing things for the wedding."

"Yeah, I'm ready, I'm going" he replied, as he advanced to the exit of his room.

At the Feira da Ladra, Dani was looking at some trinkets when he noticed something that caught up his eye. It was a beautiful ring that had a set of white stones placed to form something like a butterfly. That was exactly the type of jewelry that he liked. After buying it, he placed the ring on his finger, however, after a few steps, he ended up bumping against someone, causing him to drop his bag with the fabric he had bought.

"I'm sorry" he said, as he went down to get the bag and the fabric.

"Watch where you're going, idiota" a rude voice replied. "Bem, bem… Look who he is."

Hearing that voice, Dani froze. He then looked up and saw that he had just bumped into a boy that was older than him that had brown eyes and a dark straight hair with a bowl cut whose bangs fell above his eyebrows. He was using a black t-shirt under a white jerkin jacket, with blue jeans.

"Marcus…" he said.

"So, costureira, are you shopping today?" he asked, mockingly. "Buying some fabric for your little clothes?"

"So what if I am?" Dani asked, while trying to get the fabric that had fallen out of the bag.

But when he tried to get the last one, Marcus placed his foot over it and said:

"Then I advise you to use it to make a dress… perhaps one with the mark of my show on it."

He then moved away, while dropping a laugh. As he saw Marcus going away, Dani could feel his anger starting to boil. It has been always the same thing ever since Dani transferred to their school. Even with friends like Martim helping him, there was always bullies like Marcus messing with him at any chance… and that always made him so angry.

Little did Dani know that the anger that he was feeling was being absorbed by the stones of the ring he had just bought, with them starting to gain a slight purple color…
