Death's Choice Side Stories
By Ammie Hawk
Summary: A collection of exerts, side stories, and other that take place within Death's Choice but didn't have a specific place. If a section here coincides with a specific chapter in the main fic, it will be marked at the top.
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars or Harry Potter.
AN: So this first chapter takes place during the events of Chapter 12: Geonosis, since everyone kept asking what the fuck happened to Boba. So, here ya go, enjoy.
Chapter 1: What Happened to Boba
Boba turned away from the excitement in the arena as a brilliant purple lightsaber appeared at his dad's throat. His eyes narrowed into a glare as he noticed how close the blade was to Harry. He wasn't worried about his dad, he was the best, he could handle himself. But what kind of monster would hold a weapon on a kid, especially one as small and cute as Harry?
He ignored the conversation around him as he tried to communicate with the younger boy to do something. He knew the little raven was capable. He and his dad had been working with him to hone his weird magic abilities and he was getting pretty good. But it seemed his dad's warning about using it in front of others was keeping him from acting. Though, that hadn't stopped him from protecting the Jedi in the arena earlier.
Before he could get the other to understand his silent pleading, the lightsaber was removed as the bald man turned to confront the now approaching battle droids. His dad quickly made his way over to him and placed Harry down next to him.
"Boba," he barked, "take Harry and find somewhere safe. Stay back and do not engage. You are in charge of Harry."
"Yes, sir," Boba answered automatically.
He grabbed the smaller boy's arm and dragged him behind him as he took a few steps backward. His dad donned his helmet and entered the battle. It didn't take long after that for the fight to move from the top box, leaving only him, Harry, his dad, and the Count behind.
He watched in mounting confusion as his dad's head whipped around and his T-visor zeroed in on the older man. Boba wasn't sure what was going on, but he didn't like the look on Dooku's face. They were too far away for him to hear what they were saying, but he had a pretty good idea what they were talking about as the older man's hungry gaze fell on the little raven beside him. He pulled the smaller boy closer, trying to shield him from the obvious threat.
What happened next, happened so fast he wasn't quite sure what exactly happened. His dad went for his blaster, but then Dooku was right there, with his lightsaber now protruding from his dad's side. A scream tore its way from his throat, rising in counterpoint to Harry's, as he struggled with his desire to run to his dad or take Harry as far away as he could.
Before he could decide what to do, he found himself flying through the air. The air was forced from his lungs as he impacted hard with the wall. He barely managed to regain his bearings when he saw the Count sweep out of the balcony with a limp Harry in his arms.
Boba scrambled to his feet, ready to chase after the man who dared take his best friend from him. His steps faltered, however, as he drew level with his dad. His gaze drifted down to the prone figure lying on his side where the Count had let him fall. Tears clouded his vision as his legs gave out and his knees collided hard with the ground. His hands shook as he reached out and rolled his dad onto his back. He reached out and unsealed the helmet before slipping it off.
Brown eyes drifted over the man's face. His eyes were closed and he looked like he was just sleeping. But Boba knew better. His dad had told him how deadly lightsabers were, how they could cut through flesh like butter, and the blade had gone clear through his chest. There was no way he could've survived.
A sob escaped the boy as he clutched the helmet to his chest. His dad had been the one constant in his life, and now he was gone. What was he supposed to do now? Actually, he knew what he had to do. His dad had put him in charge of Harry, and Harry had been taken. He had to get the younger boy back.
With that thought firmly in mind, he took a shuddering breath and got to his feet. His grip tightened on the helmet still in his arms and made his way out of the balcony. He didn't see Dooku but that didn't surprise him, not with the battle that was going on. He had no idea where the older man would've headed, but if he was smart he'd know he'd need to get off planet, which meant he'd have to go to the hanger.
He picked up the pace as he came to that conclusion. If Dooku wasn't there, he'd just have to take the Slave and hunt the bastard down. He would not fail again.
Ammie: So I know it's short, but this part was never actually planned for this fic, which is why it's in the Side Stories. I may add these tidbits into the fic later, once it's finished and I can actually figure out where they belong, but for now they are here. Anyway, please let me know what you think.
