It wasn't out of the ordinary for the Slytherin halls to be eerily silent. Not many students enjoyed loitering around the dark corridors because of Filch and of course - the Slytherin kids.

But take one Hufflepuff first year who lost his way from the lavatory on the second floor and somehow ended up near the Slytherin common room. He wanders aimlessly for a while as fear took a hold of him. Even the slightest sound made the little boy jump. He looks around for any signs of a way back to the Great Hall but suddenly bumps into something.

Now his scream pierces the unremitting silence, echoing before fading back to its usual state. This is where the rumors of Freak Medley steps in.

Freak Medley is the rumored vampire that lurks within the walls of Hogwarts. He's harmless enough for his victims don't actually die. They just suffer nightmares as they wake up screaming during the night. He would appear once every few months, leave his victim in a state of shock and walk away while whistling a tune. That's where his name came from.Blood dripped from Freak Medley's mouth before licking it off with a smirk. Staring at the unfortunate first year with the shake of a head, Freak Medley takes his leave whistling his cheerful tune.

Lunch

Rumors spread quickly throughout the Great Hall. Everyone spoke about last night's incident.

"It was Freak Medley alright! That bloodsucker got poor ol' Leon Abott of Hufflepuff!"

Albus Potter took a swig of his pumpkin juice watching his older brother, James, entertained a bunch of first years with the story of Freak Medley and his misadventures. Several books slammed on the table next to Albus' lunch. Rose sat next to him with scowl on her face. "Do you honestly believe that there's an actual vampire present among us? This is Hogwarts for goodness sakes!" she complained. James glanced at her, "Well do you honestly believe that all those students had gone and bitten themselves?" Rose did not answer which gave James some satisfaction as he turned back to the gathered first years and continued on with his story.

Rose muttered incoherently to herself. Glancing over to his cousin's books, Albus blinked. "Hey Rose? If you don't think Freak Medley's a vampire, what's with the books on vampires?" There were pink tints on her cheeks. She shoved the books in her book bag in a hastily fashion while also hastily speaking, "Because whoever this Freak Medley is, he or she has such a peculiar behavior that is both similar and dissimilar to vampires."

An arm wrapped around Albus' neck causing him to choke on his pumpkin juice. "I bet it's that Malfoy kid. My pop always said that 'a Malfoy will always be a Malfoy.'" Came Albus's best friend Sean Finnigan response. "That's absurd!" Rose chimed, "He isn't anything like his father!" Sean and Rose argued back and forth as Albus rolled his eyes continuing with his lunch.

Without even the slightest notion of presence, a pale thin but handsome boy stood next to Rose. A smile played on his lips; gray eyes watching the Irish boy jump and curse loud enough for heads to turn. "Sorry to interrupt your, er, conversation but," he turned to Rose, "I do believe my tutoring is about to begin?" Rose gasped looking at her watch. "Oh right! I'm sorry Adan. Let's --"

"Tutoring? With Slytherin? Let alone this is Adan Valcour?!"

Rose was completely, well, the color of a rose. "Will you grow up Sean?! Times have changed! It's not like he's going to be the next Lord Voldemort!" The name alone made Sean flinch as both he and Albus watched Rose leave and Adan following behind her.

Adan turned his head, his stare burning to Albus' eyes. Gray eyes met green. A fang smirk appeared and for some odd reason, those grays turned red for a brief moment. Albus' heart sank. A sudden feeling caused him to break out in a cold sweat. A terrible desire for something arose in the atmosphere. A sudden lust for blood.
