Hey, Dark Gothic Lolita here!
So this is my second story with this pairing and I don't think you understand just how much I love this pairing, despite there being like no stories for them. There's like 2 and I constantly re-read them haha.
I can't wait for Bleach to get its final season this year! I don't own Bleach and I tried to edit this, but there's bound to be mistakes.
ENJOY!
A bit of backbone
Chapter one
Isane couldn't believe that she was really going to her fellow captain about this issue of hers. Okay, so she was used to seeking out advice, but it was more about who the captain was that she was going to ask for advice that both scared and surprised her. She practically had to swallow the pride that she had swelling up at her throat and bottle it up in order to walk across the Seireitei to that cursed division and ask their captain for help.
Kiyone had tried her best not to laugh, but she failed as she let out a little snort when her sister had told her where she was going and why she was going there. The younger of the Kotetsu sisters wished the older one good luck and Isane couldn't even help herself as she jabbed her middle finger up at her due to how stressed out she was. While it wasn't out of character for Isane to do something like that to her younger sister, it was rare that she ever showed anything but composure.
"Oh hell," Isane whispered to herself as she could hear the loud crashes from the 11th division. No matter how many times Unohana had told her in the letter that she was the first ever captain of this blood thirsty division and that she was a criminal, Isane just couldn't understand it. However, even she knew that there was something dark and twisted about her late captain. That woman was scary when she wanted to be and her history finally made sense. It was that fear factor that Isane lacked that she was looking for.
She entered the division and almost squealed at the amount of blood she saw. The medic in her almost yelled at them all to stop what they were doing and get in line for some healing, but she was out of her jurisdiction on that one. There was no way she was ever going to come to Kenpachi's division and start telling his men what to do.
Instead, she just scurried along in the courtyard, hoping that she wouldn't be seen by all the burly men. It wasn't even like she was scared of them because she knew that when they came to her division, she made sure that they acted accordingly, but she would rather not get held up. Not when she had come here for one thing and one thing only.
She tried her best to sense Kenpachi's reiatsu and eventually found herself following it. She almost sighed in annoyance when she could feel Ikkaku and Yumichika, but she would rather deal with them first to see what kind of mood their captain was in. She would rather not deal with the man if he was in a fighting mood.
"Yo, Isane! Oh wait, Isane I taichou! Whatcha doin' here?"
It was Ikkaku that greeted her first and Yumichika just gave her a beautiful smile. Isane smiled at the both of them as she ran her fingers through her now jaw length hair. Seeing them calmed her nerves a little and now she was feeling a bit better. "Hello Ikkaku, Yumichika. I'm here to visit your taichou. I...I guess I have a few questions for him?"
She didn't know why her statement came out as a question and the two men smirked a little bit, but it was Yumichika who crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes in curiosity.
"Oh? And what kind of questions would that be?"
Isane felt her cheeks burn red as she averted her gaze. She knew that they were just joking around, but they really didn't understand how much stress she had been under lately, worrying over this one point. She saw Yumichika lean forward out of her peripheral vision and he seemed to be examining her.
"Isane, are you sleeping okay? You have some unsightly bags under your eyes. Your usual radiant skin doesn't seem to be glowing."
Isane sighed and smiled, not even caring that he had forgotten to address her by her new title. Even though she was definitely the only other person who could lead the 4th division, she knows that the others still didn't truly believe that she has what it takes to be a taichou. It all stemmed from the fact that the vast majority of people hadn't seen her bankai. She's a healer, there shouldn't really be any need for them to see it, they just had to believe that she had one, otherwise she wouldn't be a taichou.
Her bankai was a tough one, being an ice type. It was both offensive and supportive, but she had no need to use it. They hadn't had an enemy attack as strong as Yhwach, and that was a good enough sign for her. Her bankai served the simple purpose of healing many at the same time, while also attacking any enemies while she protected her comrades.
"I can't say I have been. It's just the stress of these taichou duties and having big shoes to fill. A lot of people are expecting big things out of me, so I have to keep myself on my toes. I'm sure I'll sleep eventually."
Ikkaku scrunched up his face in confusion. "And ya think talking to our taichou will sort out some of yer problems?"
Isane hesitated because it did sound insane, but she nodded her head, finally able to meet their eyes again. Both men shrugged and turned on their heels. "Okay then, we better get ya to his office then! We'll keep away so that he doesn't try ta fight us instead of talking with ya. Does he know yer coming?"
Isane shook his head. "Nope. I've been meaning to come and talk to him and never really had the time. This time, I just told Kiyone to look after the division while I'm away. With everything being quiet and no crazy wars, we don't really have any patients which is always a good thing. What about you guys, have you had any fun missions lately?"
She let the two of them tell her stories of their latest expedition to the human world and she hummed and reacted in all the right places without actually listening to them. They eventually got to the corridor they needed and stopped before turning to face the woman. She glanced up and smiled at the two of them.
"Thank you for bringing me here. I guess I'll see you when I'm done."
Ikkaku mock saluted and Yumichika nodded his head as she went on without them. She knocked politely before a gruff voice responded to her. She turned back to see the two men shooing her inside and she quickly made her way into the office. She saw Kenpachi slumped over his desk, clearly having a nap.
"Who in the hell is disturbing my nap?"
He raised his head and Isane felt like a deer in the headlights. She saw him frown when he realised that he was looking at a woman and not one of his men. Hell, not just any woman, a fellow taichou that wasn't Byakuya. He frowned and wondered if he had missed any meetings, but Yumichika would have told him about them.
"What the hell? What are ya doing here, 4th?"
That was the name that he had decided to give her because he actually forgot her name and all he remembered was that she works in the 4th division. She was his mentor's right hand woman. Isane visibly winced as she tried her best not to bow in respect as they had the same rank, but she couldn't help herself.
"Kenpachi taichou...hello."
"Yeah, hi. Whaddya want?"
She smiled nervously, wondering if this was really worth it. She decided that it was and that she was going to have to speak up. He couldn't read minds.
"I um, I wanted to ask you a few questions."
The man just stared blankly as he waited for her to speak up again. He grew agitated when she just stood there. "Well spit 'em out then!"
"Yes!" She squeaked. She heard him quietly laugh at her and she could feel herself blushing once again. She stood by the door as if to make for a quick get away if things went wrong. She tried her best to steady her breathing before she looked at him.
"How do you...strike fear into your division's hearts? Maybe even everyone's hearts for that matter," she muttered to herself.
The man stared at her with a slack jaw. He didn't really know what kind of question Isane would have ended up asking him and to be honest, this was the last question that he had in mind either way. If he were another person, he would have made a fool of himself, but instead, he just wore a confused expression.
"You fucking what?"
At this point, Isane had slipped out of her shell as she now had his attention. "Fear, Kenpachi taichou, fear. Sometimes I feel like my division is slacking on the minimal work we do just because I'm not strong or scary enough. I already know that a lot of people barely respect me as it is, but I feel like there's a lot of disrespect coming from my own division as well, which is more important to me. I wanted to know how I could deal with that. Unohana taichou was the first ever Kenpachi and basically still had that reputation to people who knew her as well as the aura that she carried. I don't, obviously. I was wondering if you could help give me some tips on that."
She really hoped that she hadn't been rambling on for too long and that the main point that she had wanted to get out had finally been heard. She saw his eyes light up in some sick and twisted delight as he saw up straight in his chair before standing up. He was one of the only men who was actually taller than her, so she actually liked talking to him. He was so broad even without his hiyori and she found herself tilting her head backwards to watch as he came to stand right in front of her. He gave her his usual cheshire grin as she felt her body tingle with some sort of delight.
"Oh, so ya wanna grow a bit of spine, huh? I think I can help with that. Ya definitely got potential."
Isane looked surprised as well as sceptical. She wasn't sure if Kenpachi was mocking her, because she really didn't see any potential within herself for being strong or intimidating. Still, she had to ask. "I do?"
"Yeah. Ya might be a lil scaredy cat who can't say boo to a fuckin' goose, but yer crazy. I've seen the way that ya recklessly jump inta fights, even when ya know ya got no chance of winning. I guess that witch did teach ya somethin' other than kido and healin'."
"Hey! There's no need for that."
She gave him a disapproving look which just made his grin widen and she didn't even realise that was possible. She thought he was already at his limits in terms of smiling.
"Yeah, just like that! Speak yer mind all the time and not just when someone's dissin' yer dead captain, got it?"
Isane frowned at the way he was barely respecting Unohana, but she bit her lip and nodded anyway. He smirked and gestured towards the door with his head. Isane looked back at it in confusion.
"Let's go 'n' start right now. Yer a taichou now, that means you can assert yer dominance over anyone. That includes not just yer division, but mine. I want ya to go out there and get 'em to stop fighting. Simple as."
Isane paled and shook her head wildly as her heart almost beat its way out of her chest at the idea of yelling at those men in their natural habitat. "No, that is not simple as! How am I supposed to get your men to listen to me? They'll eat me alive!"
Kenpachi actually had the audacity to tut at her and she recoiled in disgust, wondering who in the hell he was tutting at, because it definitely shouldn't be her. Did he not see how crazy this all was, or is she the only sane one in the room right now?
"Of course I'm the only sane one out of the two of us. Although, that's currently up for debate seeing as I'm the one who came here in the first place."
Kenpachi knew exactly how to motivate her. As much as Isane had shown that she is a spineless coward, she had also shown that when taunted, she lost all rationality. That was something that Yachiru had told him before she had disappeared.
"Aww, is the 4th a lil chicken? Taichou and she can't even get some lowly men to stop fightin'?"
He found himself chuckling the moment Isane ripped open his office door and went marching back out to the courtyard. He followed her with mild glee, having to use his own long strides to catch up to the rather tall woman. There was only a 6 inch difference between the two of them which he always marvelled at, because no woman was as tall as she was. He thought that was hot.
She threw open the door leading out to the courtyard, effectively making Ikkaku and Yumichika jump. They were about to jump up and head over to her when she opened her mouth to yell.
"OI! You brutes should stop fighting and acknowledge when there's another taichou in the building! You guys have no manners! Just creating more and more work for my division and I!"
The men all stopped as they jumped from the sheer volume that seemed to come out of Isane. The woman was panting hard before she realised what she had just done. Her eyes widened in horror and being so easily tricked by Kenpachi and she turned around to glare at him. He just leaned against the doorway, arms folded over his chest with a grin that never shifted. He was loving this.
She turned back out to the men who looked like they were shocked, but also a little annoyed that she would stop their little fighting session. She could hear them muttering amongst themselves and she found herself trying to make herself seem small and unseen. It was a habit that she had whenever she felt overwhelmed. With her great height, it meant that all eyes were on her pretty much all the time. Situations like this really didn't help.
As she was trying to find the right words to apologise to them for bursting out like that, she heard someone call her a crazy bitch from afar. She felt Kenpachi shift behind her, as if he was about to come forward and make the person who said that pay, but she spoke up, her hand resting on her zanpakuto, almost as if she were ready to fight whoever the hell just disrespected her.
She had just about had enough of people not acknowledging her strength, but that was usually from other taichous who had their positions longer than her. Most of them still saw her as a fukutaichou who wasn't ready to be a taichou and she could kind of agree. What she didn't like was when unseated shinigami opened their mouths to insult her without knowing whether or not they had strength to make it up to her old rank. She was a fukutaichou for many decades and shinigami who would get killed the first time they stepped on the field were the ones that annoyed her the most with their disparagement.
"Whoever just called me a crazy bitch, come here and stand 2 feet away from me and say that to my face. Now."
There was total silence as everyone was stunned. Her tone was different from before. It was flat and dead, almost as if foreshadowing what the person who said that was going to be like in a few seconds. Ikkaku and Yumichika looked at each other in shock and Kenpachi stood there, proud.
Isane waited before snickering. "So now one will own up to it, huh? That's fine. Just know this, you're all on ban from receiving treatment from us until the person owns up. Kenpachi taichou?"
She turned on her heel and swept past him and headed back inside, walking back to his office. He caught a whiff of her beautiful scent and found himself walking after her without even looking at his men. He walked after the fuming woman who started pacing around the moment she got into his office, mumbling to herself as she couldn't quite believe what she had done. The moment Kenpachi shut the door behind him, she was on his case.
"You oaf! You tricked me! You know I can't back down from a challenge! I hate you for making a fool out of me! All I wanted was your help! I should have known not to come to you!"
Kenpachi barked out a laugh and headed towards the taichou and placed his hand on her head. She jumped and looked up at him.
"Oi, ya wanted ta grow a spine and I helped ya. If anyone can yell at my men and talk to me the way yer talkin' to me, you can talk to anyone. Even that short cat girl simp."
Isane squinted, perplexed about who he was talking about before she snickered in recognition. "You mean Soi Fon taichou? That's not nice of you, Kenpachi taichou." Not like she should care much. That said woman was the one who seemed to be the most vocal about her doubt in terms of Isane becoming a taichou. It was getting old now as she brought it up almost every single taichou meeting they had.
The man shrugged haphazardly and grinned at the fact that he got Isane to laugh. "Same difference and it definitely made ya laugh. Anyway, yer said yer had questions. You only asked one."
He finally removed his hand from her head and Isane actually missed the warmth and the grip that he had on her. She shook that weird feeling away and just looked up at him. He was right, she did have more to ask him and now that she had thrown her pride away, it should be easy enough.
"I wanted to ask you if it was possible to...spar with you? I...I already told you that my healing skills are more than capable for being the taichou of the 4th division, but I'm pretty sure that my fighting skills are subpar and that...that irks me to know that! Unohana taichou was so powerful as I've learned about her history. Not the best woman, but still. I will never be as strong as her."
"Yer right, ya won't. But I'll whip ya up into decent shape, that's for sure. She was the worst criminal we ever had here in the spirit world and I was pretty much the only one to defeat her. Stick with me, I'll get ya strong."
He eyed her like a piece of meat, a feral grin gracing his lips. His height was intimidating as he towered over her like a building. Honestly, Isane felt hot under his gaze. He was a mountain of a man who looked like he was ready to break her. Having fought Unohana to sharpen his sword skills, he was the best person to ask for help right now. Isane couldn't help but think that this man just wanted a hand in ruining her.
All Isane could do was gulp.
Isane couldn't believe it. She was actually at her training grounds at stupid o'clock in the morning. Kenpachi had come to get her himself and forced her to get ready for some serious training. When she had asked him for his help, she didn't realise that they would be starting the very next day. In all honesty, they hadn't even discussed when they would start training. All he had said was that he would send a hell butterfly to her. When she brought this up, he just laughed at her.
"I dunno how ta use them things! Thought I would come get ya myself!"
She grumbled, annoyed that he would say he was going to do something and then just not do it. She barely got enough sleep as it was and she was pretty sure they had a taichou meeting first thing in the morning. Well, first thing in the working day. She was so tired that she didn't even feel any fear when she stood off against Kenpachi. She just wanted the session to be over and would do anything to make the time go by quickly.
He didn't treat her like glass, that's for sure. He treated her like titanium, ready to knock down over and over again. He hit her hard, making her hiss every time. He was fast despite his large frame. She barely had any time to heal herself and she realised how lucky she was to be on Kenpachi's side. She would hate to be any of his enemies. That just sounded painful. The most gruesome death one could ask for.
He forced her to use her shikai and while she wasn't bad, she was definitely a little rusty. It happened when you started working in the 4th division. They were there to heal, not fight. She realised that maybe making her division train regularly would also keep them in good shape. There were the odd times where a member of the division would have to go on an expedition with another division in order to be the medic. It was embarrassing when the medic got hurt or was the main focus to protect. She wanted all of them to hold their own in an attack and not be seen as a burden.
They had sparred for four hours before Kenpachi gave it a rest. Isane didn't collapse to the floor like she thought she would have done, but she heaved out a huge sigh of relief and side eyed her fellow taichou. He smirked at her and shrugged, not at all bothered that she didn't like him in this current moment.
"Ya held yer own for a long time, 4th. I'm impressed. Next time, I'm gonna make yer bring out yer bankai. I heard no one's ever seen it and that's why yer gettin' a lotta heat from all the other taichous who actually give a fuck. At least this way, if someone wants ta chat shit, I can be yer witness."
Isane laughed tiredly at him and shrugged her shoulders, hissing from the action. Her body was so sore already. She didn't really need him to be her witness, she already had the 3 taichous she needed as her witness in order to pass the test. "I have no intention using my bankai, Kenpachi taichou. It's unnecessary as well as not the best thing to fight. I wouldn't satisfy you."
She watched something light up in his eyes when she said that and she grew hot under his gaze. He was looking down at her as if she were his prey and he was going to devour her any minute. Why had she chosen those words to say to him?! That sounded so wrong!
"S-so, same time tomorrow? So that I can be prepared to get a good night's sleep?"
"Nah, two days. I'll give ya time to get over yer fatigue for fighting with me for the first time. I want ya fresh for when I fight yer bankai. I heard it's pretty fucking strong."
Isane looked at him strangely. "How have you heard about it when most people don't even believe I have one?" Honestly, the only exception to that rule had been Kenpachi and she was definitely not as strong as him.
"My zanpakuto speaks to me. Says I gotta be careful about yer bankai. I'm excited."
The way he said it made Isane blush. No one had ever been excited about anything she had ever done before. She also hated to admit it, but the way this brute of a man grinned like a mad man was also something she never thought she would enjoy seeing. She laughed nervously and moved a strand of her hair behind her ear. She felt some sort of pride coursing through her as she realised that Kenpachi was excited to fight her. That might put fear in many people's hearts, but she was ready for him.
"I guess we should get ready for the meeting then."
Kenpachi was watching her through his one eye before he nodded and ruffled her hair again, making her pout. "Yeah, I guess we should. See ya."
He removed his hand to wave and soon he was gone. His stifling reiatsu was gone and Isane didn't realise how strong it felt until he left. She felt like she could finally breathe again, but she focused on fixing her hair that he ruined. She pouted fondly before shakily walking down to her barracks. She needed to shower and get ready.
As she got in, she was met with a few of her soldiers. They looked at her worridley as she looked down at them all in confusion.
"Ano, can I help you?"
"Kenpachi-taichou was here right? What did he want? Are you okay, taichou? Are you hurt?"
Isane breathed out a laugh and shook her head, rolling her shoulders back. "I'm fine, we were training. I've decided to take up some training with him. It will become regular, so expect him here more often now I guess. Don't worry, I don't think he'll come in here, he'll just disturb my sleep to come and spar with me."
One of the women breathed out. "Wow taichou, you're so brave! That man is terrifying, how can you even want to do that?"
Isane paused and shrugged. "It's our job to get stronger. We can't remain complacent just because we haven't had any wars with major casualties. Speaking of which, I'll have an announcement for everyone once I get back from the taichou meeting. Please let as many people know. I'll let Kiyone fukutaichou know as hell."
"Hai!"
They disappeared and Isane sighed with relief. She could finally go and shower and then probably soak in the bath until it was time to leave for the meeting.
~x~
She managed to make it to the meeting just in time. She wasn't even the last one to arrive, but she was pretty late by her standards. She couldn't help herself as she glanced over to where Kenpachi was standing. He shot her a wide grin and she scoffed with a blush adorning her cheeks before getting into her position. How he was there before her was beyond her. She was so glad that she didn't have to stand anywhere near him as their numbers were nowhere near each other's, but as he was the taichou to an odd numbered division while hers was even, it meant that she could feel him burning holes into her head as she was trying her best to focus on what Kyoraku taichou was saying.
She could barely focus on what was being said, but she managed to respond about what the fourth division was going to do with their time. Isane had proposed that she would be working on them in rotations. Those who weren't on duty were going to train their offensive skill set and take it more seriously. She heard a few impressed noises, especially from Soi Fon who stood next to her. Unohana hadn't really done that, focusing more on their kido training, but Isane knew that their kido was amazing, otherwise they wouldn't be in the 4th division in the first place. It was time that the 4th division became strong.
When the meeting was adjourned and the taichous went spilling out into the hall, Kenpachi made his way straight up to Isane. She didn't know if they were now some sort of acquaintances now that she had asked for his help. Still, it was nice that at least out of everyone here, she was the only one he spoke to. Usually, Isane would either leave with Lisa or end up leaving last, always wanting to hang back and ask Kyoraku why he made her take the taichou proficiency test and if there would be anyone else fit for the position. She never had the guts to ask though.
"Wow, I'm kinda excited to see how yer gonna train yer division. Want me to help?"
Isane shook her head as they continued to walk together. "I can't do that. You're already helping me with my own training, I can't make you leave your own duties just to come and help me train my division. That would make me seem incompetent. I'm sure you have other things you'd rather be doing."
There was something dark about the way his eyes flashed at her and how a smirk grew on his lips. She was wondering why he was staring at her out of his one uncovered eye. It took her a while for her brain to process what she had just said and she bloomed a wonderful pink colour.
"O-Oh, gross! Please get your mind out of the gutter, that was not what I meant!"
Kenpachi just laughed. At this point, the other taichous had all departed. Some walked and talked together, some had simply left. Isane and Kenpachi were the only ones in front of the first division. While her face showed disgust, her heart was pounding and not with fear. She almost felt flattered that Kenpachi would have such an idea in his head about her. She was sure that many, if not all men didn't see her that way.
"Yer the one who said it! I was just appreciatin' the other stuff I could be doin'."
Isane just shook her head, mortified that he had now actually said it instead of at least denying it. She was thankful when he decided to move on with the conversation.
"Nah, but seriously, I don't mind gettin' my men ta show your division real life work of a shinigami, gihihihi."
Isane didn't like the sound of that, but she realised that he was right. If anything, throwing her division into the deep end straight away like she had done with herself was a good way to grow. Fighting the craziest of men would make them fearless to any situation when it came to assisting. With them being the strongest division as they're the only combat ready division, it would make sense to have a joint training session.
"I don't know if I'm a fan of making my members want to faint from the idea of training with your division."
Kenpachi shrugged as if he couldn't care less before piping up. "Fine. Have them all attack me at the same time 'n' when they see that I'm the greatest evil there is, they won't mind it. If they can survive me, they can survive anythin'."
Isane paused as if thinking about it and Kenpachi could see the cogs in her mind turning. He took the time to watch her. He started slowly from the top and moved his eyes down her body. He actually found himself desperate to know what was under her shihakusho. He had only seen pictures briefly from when Yachiru had gone to the beach, but he caught a glance of Isane's. He almost ripped the picture out of the young girl's hands, but she was soon running away to go and get them published. It was a shame that Kenpachi never got his hands on that month's copy of the magazine. Still, he knew that she was definitely hiding a lot of her goods well.
"Fine, I accept that. Just don't kill my squad, Kenpachi."
He chuckled as they headed straight for her barracks. "Absolutely no fuckin' promises, 4th."
~x~
Isane actually wanted to laugh at the predicament of her squad. They were all relentlessly attacking the brute of a man who called himself Zaraki. The way they would all eventually tap out before going in for one last try. Even though he didn't promise, he didn't kill anyone which was great. He did injure a small amount of them, but it was nothing a simple kido spell and rest wouldn't fix. At the same time, she could also hear whispers of awe and wonder that also related to her. They were surprised that she was able to spend 4 hours sparring with him when most of them couldn't even last 10 minutes.
"Isane-taichou must be a lot stronger than we've been giving her credit for."
"Well, she's achieved her bankai, right? Of course she's strong."
"Yeah, but no one has actually seen it."
"Idiot, of course people have seen it. She took the taichou proficiency test, you need at least 3 taichous to see your bankai. Besides, I was there with Hanatarou-san to heal her after she passed out from the first time she used it. I'm pretty sure it tried to drain her life force."
Isane ended up blocking them out and Kenpachi was done with the last of her squad. Everyone sat up straight from where they were sitting as they were wondering what he was about to do. He was an unhinged man and when he had first shown up, towering behind Isane as she delivered the news that she had wanted to give to them, they were stunned into silence. No one could speak and definitely no one could fight against what she had to say. They had to grin and bear it.
Even Kiyone was surprised that her timid older sister had managed to make some sort of friend out of Kenpachi. She wouldn't stop talking about it, that's for sure.
Kenpachi rested his zanpakuto on his shoulder and grinned as he moved towards his fellow taichou. She had been standing off at the side, making sure that no one was severely injured. The way he watched her as he stalked towards her frightened a few of the younger soldiers as they scuttled away from him quickly, but Isane waited for him to reach her. She tilted her head up towards him once again, no fear in her eyes.
"They definitely need ta be whipped inta shape. I would love ta do it maself, but I guess I gotta date with their taichou, huh?"
Isane could hit him for the way he worded it and she covered half her face in embarrassment. Still, she was extremely grateful to this man.
"I'm going to ignore that last part and jump straight to the part where I thank you. So, thank you for today. Do you want anything to eat as a way to show my gratitude? You must be starving."
"I sure am! Lead the way, 4th."
Isane wondered if he was ever going to use her name or not. Still, it was a lot better than what he used to call her late taichou which was 'witch'. Still, she would rather be called by her name and not by the division she was running.
She led him straight to her office and once he saw her sofa, he threw himself on it. Isane shook her head with a small laugh and headed straight for her fridge where she kept some food. It was enough to feed a small army as her and Kiyone had gotten a little carried away the night before. She warmed it up in the microwave first before placing it on the coffee table where he was sitting. His mouth watered at the sight of the food as he sat up.
"I could fuckin' kiss ya right now, 4th. This shit looks delicious."
She ran her hand through her hair shyly as she watched him take the first bite out of something that she had cooked and he moaned, his eyes actually rolling to the back of his head. Isane had never seen anyone react that way due to her cooking, mostly because she didn't cook for anyone but herself and her sister, so it was definitely nice to know that she was somewhat decent at it.
"Fuck this is better than all that shit I buy as take away!"
It would make sense that he lives off of take away food. The fact that he even eats weirded her out slightly, even though that's something that everyone does. She was sure that he would just live off the thrill of the fight and not actually need to eat. That thought alone made her feel extremely stupid.
"I-I'm glad you like it. I made it last night with Kiyone. Eat as much as you like, Kiyone's got her own portion."
Kenpachi nodded before that devilish smirk came back. "Ya sure made a lot. Were you expectin' me?"
Isane turned her head away from him. "Of course not! Stop saying stupid things!"
Kenpachi chuckled as he watched her reaction and how she had turned away from him. She probably couldn't handle having to look at him which made his ego spike a little bit. He wondered if she felt what he felt?
So, how was that chapter? This is only a two shot, so I hope that was a good start. I read Isane's profile and while she's quite shy, she's actually more than willing to jump into a fight. Sometimes she doesn't think rationally and I like that about her. I obviously thought that that should be something Kenpachi should be attracted to lmao.
