Chapter 1: Star Crossed Rescue
A/N: A combination of two of my favorite series. Though I have others this was just another rattling around in the head idea another what if but in this case Elias is not his refined self but the beastial creature before meeting Lindel.
'All of these failed experiments, dozens and dozens more of precious test subjects wasted and for all of the work we have done to strengthen our nation against the Western imperial dogs.'
Wheeled forwards in a hospital chair, a small girl, barely five or maybe six years old is pushed forwards several doctors in lab coats and clip boards follow behind an orderly dressed in all white. Her hands were tied to the side of the chair in thick leather straps, and feet, but the girl's neck, wrist, and legs were covered in bandages, some fresh, others not.
"Is this not the last one?" One of the doctors asked as they followed behind the test subject. All of their faces blurry in the eyes of the child who was pushed forwards, green eyes were a dull lifeless, and long bereft of despair and hope.
"For this batch at least. We're hoping that there will be others but the unstable nature of these subjects have failed to produce any real results. We even used this one's own mother in an effort to draw out the latent power hiding inside of her."
"Ah yes Miss Chika Hatori? Such a desperate woman to put herself into this mess as well." The other doctor remarked with an amused snicker, all of them doubting that when they signed up for medical experiments they really knew the full measure of what they were going to be put through.
"Desperation or not, she did have some measure of aptitude for developing telepathic and mental abilities that are latent within certain humans and her daughter might show even greater potential."
"Yes," "Of course," They came to one of the expansive rooms for testing, two swinging doors were pushed open and in wheeled the orderly and the young girl with the doctors following suit. Inside were tables set up, others having sheets covering them from the days test, others were still freshly red, unable to be cleaned from test to test.
Inside there was still no reaction as bodies of young children and young adults were piled up on cots and gurneys, their faces wretched in a horrible expression of complete agony. Others lacerated in all kinds of marks the blood drained from the most of them.
Thin emaciated and completely lifeless, their still expressions passing no effect upon the little girl in the chair. Her red hair hanging low enough to block her vision but swung around the base of her neck.
"Set her over on table five," The doctor told the orderly who nodded and began to unbuckle and strap the little child who still didn't react as she was picked up unceremoniously by the arms and taken to the table. She just let herself fall backwards onto the cold metal and was strapped back down.
Their concern for her expression didn't matter for the doctors running the experiment. "Get the devices set up and start preliminary testing." Others in the room began moving all manner of equipment that the little girl couldn't fathom but she was in state to care. Her fingers didn't move as the tight straps dug into her skin. The rough leather still splashed with red blood from the last occupant didn't cause any reaction.
"Cameras begin rolling please," The doctor approached the table. "Test subject CH-2RE-5 for developmental of telekinetic abilities and latent mental prowess trials. See to the previous attempts for CH-1RE-27 ended with promise but the subject expired shortly after success."
Her lifeless eyes teared up. Looking into the bright fluorescent lights wondering if this might finally be her end, her peace. The needles, shocks and poking and prodding were all but numb to her body. This little girl had lost everything and now merely awaited death. Her ears still rang with the harrowing shrieks of her mother's death throes.
"Spiking!" A voice said almost excitedly.
"What? A reaction?" Lifting his head from the monitor to see if there might be an actual trigger.
"Yes, the subject's brain activity is spiking. Move forward and let's-"
The camera focused on the experiment and observed what followed. The little girl was no longer looking into the light, her head now fallen to the side where a shadow moved along the wall. "The flux is growing, I think this might finally be it! This might be the first use of documented telepathy!"
'S… m-me… p…' The girl's voice was too soft to pick up, a barely audible lost in the beeps whirring and excited voices as the tiny fingers strained towards a black shadow standing along the table. It was massive and seemed to not be impacted by anything nearby. Silent and motionless but its focus was completely down upon her.
It was invisible to all but a pair of special eyes and the camera which could see only its formless body with now red eyes looming over the little girl.
"Congratulations doctor we've finally done it!" One of the men came up to his partner to wish him well. But the large black figure turned towards him. Swiping once, the man's features almost seemed to become locked.
"Thomas? Thomas what-" The doctor's head fell clean from his head in a fountain of red blood.
It was complete panic as the black shadow moved about. The orderly was picked up by the neck although he flailed about, his legs and arms were swung making contact with something that was holding him up. His neck snapped before the presence moved again.
The camera was knocked over by the fleeing personnel skidding to the side as the primary physician was trying to grab the door and pull it open but the looming darkness stopped him. He couldn't see it, but his eyes flicked towards the little girl- "You- Stop-!" Perhaps it was in vain but the shadow then speared the doctor through the chest before going after the rest of those inside the room. The camera still rolled, catching the screams and cries of those souls unable to flee but all out of camera sight.
The guards and security who were quickly alerted by all of the chaos rushed towards the sounds of the lab along with the warden of the facility. A slightly paranoid looking older man with the beginnings of a thin black mustache and dark hair. Approaching behind his dozen or so armed security, they burst through the door expecting perhaps the west having sent spies or invaders to sabotage the research. But what was inside was a scary sight.
"Gods…" The warden said his jaw dropped to the ground as he took it all in. The entire staff was butchered and from there floating in the air was a little girl. Her eyes closed but her body moved slowly as if being rocked in the arms of a person.
"Sir?" One of the guards spoke with a tremble.
The warden swallowed a lump gathering in his throat as he saw what was clearly impossible happening right before his eyes. Shaking his head and regaining his composure he turned back to one of the many men under his employ. "Inform master Desmond and await his instruction. We shall remain here until given further instruction."
"Sir-!" One of them took off heading to find a way of gaining their head officials approval for what was to come.
What followed was a scientific experiment of understanding and control. Their new test subject 0A1 or Alpha one was given space for herself. She was to remain a test subject and experiment but only to whatever powers had so visibly affected her.
From the age of four Young Chise Hatori became the progenitor of all future experiments conducted in the East in hopes of advancing the human race as a whole. She and the mysterious shadowy figure that protected her at all times and many days were spent just trying to understand just what force that was beyond human understanding was now surrounding her. For almost a Decade she would be protected by a shadow, loved, cared, and nurtured by something that was not of this world and far beyond human understanding.

"Chise, it is time for your breakfast." One of the female staff spoke softly, setting out a plate for the little redhead. She was just sitting on her bed blankly staring ahead, giving no real indication of hearing or acknowledging what was said. But it was how things went slowly as she grew up. Getting up from her bed that unseen force, holding her hands upright and setting her down onto the ground letting her walk towards the table which the woman pulled out a chair for. All of them being careful as to not spook or provoke a reaction.
Moving to the chair she pulled herself up and sat down. Then without lifting her hands or a gesture, the knife and fork on either side of her moved on their own. Cutting nice small pieces of her eggs, sausage, and pancakes. The small meal being handled with care, even salt and pepper moved and seasoned her food, along with butter and syrup that were set aside as condiments each going to an almost assigned location before gently poking the food and taking it to the little girl's mouth.
From a one way mirror those gathered in the location spoke with amazement as they watched from all manner of devices trying to correctly understand what was happening.
"There is no magnetic field, or rise in any sort of particles in the air." Behind his glasses the mirrored reflection of the screens did not display a thing.
"We are detecting some measure of heat surrounding her, but I can't detect whether it's coming from our subject or not." A blurry red mass showed on the heat scale as there was something moving around her, picking up the items and the objects around her and using them.
"Perhaps we should attempt communication again?"
The Warden of the facility made no comment and sat back in his chair watching the impossible become possible.
"Chise?" the Female staffer said, approaching her from the front, holding a large piece of paper in her hands.
The fork placed a thin link of sausage into Chise's mouth paused as the girl's attention shifted to the woman speaking. THe woman's brown eyes shifted slightly but tried to remain warm and welcoming.
"We have some art supplies set up for you, if you'd like to play with them." She then gestured to a toddlers table, a littering of crayons, chalks, and pencils were neatly organized and lightly sharpened for use.
It took a moment for Chise to nod her head ever slightly then look back to the food which was once again tended to by the utensils.
All eyes were focused on the child as they finished up some ten minutes later after drinking her milk and her chair was pulled backwards without her assistance.
From the other side of the glass they continued their talks. "It appears so long as she isn't touched there is no reaction."
"From the pictures she's drawn we know that it clearly is watching out for her best interests. Of course there are no actual readings given off what we can see on the visible light spectrum."
On the walls decorating the room were filled with childish artworks. Taped up in orderly and careful fashion by unseen hands. Some were by her, others were not. The one's made by her were always put front and center, as if celebrating.
When she played on her swing, an image of a faceless redheaded girl hung as a black shadow with red eyes stood behind her. The size comparison was massive; he took up more than a third of the page with the girl occupying a very little amount.
Others were where she would be playing and the same black creature would be playing with her. Whether it would pass the ball, jump the rope, and just carry her around the room. In each picture the figure never changed.
Others were made by the creature itself. Showing an immaculate portrait of a little girl keeping a soft smile, others were of her presence, sitting, standing, showering, and sleeping. Or if Chise wanted something drawn the presence would draw it for her.
One was of her mother like some sort of memory. It was set above her bed pinned in place by a thumb tack, but around it were other self portraits of the creature itself. All in black, it's red eyes and misshapen form, some had two legs, others four, sometimes none, others it was just a black rolling mass.
"Perhaps it is merely telling us it is whatever it wants to be it will be."
"Or maybe it wants us to keep guessing, it's clearly aware of our presence but simply does not care."
"The only care is when we do anything to her…"
"So how shall we proceed with 01A?"
[***]
Education was slow as they did their best to instruct and direct the correct line of thinking. They didn't push their test subject to make her upset, always letting her rest and take scheduled breaks. But they wanted to see if they could cultivate her into a working asset. Taking what they could understand from the thing with her.
"But we're teaching that creature!"
"Do we have a choice, the thing does what she wants and hasn't killed a teacher in over two months."
"It would be best if we did not educate that thing, but we can also correct its thoughts. Show it enough of the correct material we could manifest a powerful ally, but I am well aware of the cost."
Books would flip and open themselves whenever the girl rested. Dozens and dozens in a night, the presence in the room was learning at quite possibly a horrifying rate. Because they taught Chise, spelling, grammar, even though she spoke very little, her words were soft and often directed to the entity in the room which seemed to be speaking back to her as she might crack an odd smile or even a fraction of a laugh when alone.
This became the young girl's daily life, day in and day out. Never leaving the room for more than a few hours but always accompanied by the being that lived with her. From a frail emotionally reclusive child into an introverted teen whose depression was apparent to anyone who walked in the room.
It was where she lived and spent her days even as the entity in the room had changed, her savior and only friend. "Elias…" She whispered as she lay across her bed, her fingers flicking at a small green necklace she had been given for her 'birthday' years ago.
From along the wall her eyes watched the blackened shadow rise up and look at her with its red eyes.
"What is it? Chise, are you tired or perhaps do you require food?" The well mannered voice had taken the many teachers' lessons to heart and spoke with a refined accent from its once guttural talk.
She just lifted her gaze, the hopeless look in her eyes of living only for the sake of living. Because death wasn't something she wanted, she just repeated his name. Because it was the only thing that gave her some feeling beyond that of despair.
Manifesting itself in physical form the large spindly shadow moved from the wall to the other side of the bed, his long arms were covered in black fur and his neck ringed with feathers and his outside was covered by a thin texture substance almost like he was wearing a coat over covering. The white wolven skull that was his face held an expressionless facade but the red in his eyes were the only thing that could show any inkling of his understanding, two brown gnarled horns curled once and spiraled backwards from his head in a V shape. He reached down to pick her up. As if she was still the babe from years ago in his arms, the presence just held her in his arms.
"I am here, I will always be here, you are my everything Chise, I won't ever hurt or betray you please do not despair." His jaw opened revealing a long dark purple tongue which caressed her cheek as she looked ready to cry.
"I believe her medication needs to be amplified."
"I disagree this experiment has run its course, let the project end. We have garnered nothing in the last three years other than an emotionally undeveloped child." Looking over the past two years worth of data they had gained precious little.
"That is not for you to decide, the experiments have spurned some promising fruit with the telepathic development research." They had set up other labs developing telepathic and possible psychic potential in young children.
"All of those were failures and we ended up losing the only one that had any potential years ago." A young girl had shown promise but ended up failing like the rest. A waste of resources, potential, and human promise. It was the salvation of their nation from the West's constant interference. It would lay low the possibility of spies because there was no defense and protecting one's mind from another.
But there was still the biggest and most glaring problem.
"So how do you plan on dealing with our guest then?"
"With all of our plans we've set up, make sure the teams have their spectrum lenses in place so that in case the plan goes awry we can attempt a possible defense."
Fixing his glasses he watched with much anxiety as all of the lab data that they had gathered was going to be put to use- A heavy crash rocked the basement facility, the numerous cameras and surveillance equipment went to static, the radios and became nothing but high pitched whirring and whining leaving the entire floors isolated and almost deafened.
The researchers knew what it was, there was only one thing of consequence on the entire floor. "Stop it! Stop it now!" His words were in vain as from the controlled and static bedroom walked Chise as her black shadow loomed over her.
A quick response team breached the basement floor from the elevator, over a dozen armed guards wearing unique visual spectacles and carrying with them was an irregular device. It whirred and pulsed in a manner unknown to those who brought it with them.
Still as the lights were still on the group of soldiers using a reflective mirror peered around a corner, there were several completely impaled corpses, some stuck through the rough others broken through windows and doors. Red blood coating the once immaculate floor as the shallow drip of blood came from the now dead.
With continued searching they noticed a figure in the hallway, a young girl sitting down on her bottom, hands wrapped around her knees and face buried tightly in them showing only her red hair.
"Subject located… threat not identified." One man spoke with a quiet reservation. His slight manipulation of the mirror did not show anything.
Looking back at the others they all acknowledged double checking their weapons perhaps out of some sense of protection as a diamond formation of four men stepped around, one pointing a long rifle down the hallway towards the girl, two more on either side carrying long guns and a fourth watching the rear and the rest of team which took points to the rear and on their device with them.
Their military boots lightly clacked along the ground as they moved slowly pausing before the doorway with personnel broken through it and clearing the room leaving the rear man to flip and watch forwards.
More bodies were located but they did not see the threat. Coming back out they resumed their tactical formation and came forwards. Passing by the other dead lab worker shoved into the ceiling they were maybe ten feet from the girl covering her face and eyes.
Their guns were still leveled towards her, "subdue, no orders to kill the subject." One on the left of the diamond said it was still moving forwards. Reaching to his side and grabbing a pair of silver handcuffs though he doubted by the girls frail size they would stay on.
Yet as they took another step forwards the body in the ceiling was ripped upwards causing all heads to jerk backwards as the sounds and ripping flesh came from the roof.
And then it appeared, ripping through the ceiling violently, tearing the ventilation ductwork down with it from its position. The large beast partially visible by the special lenses looked down at the armed men with its wolven skull.
Chise ignored the sounds of gunfire, just keeping her eyes shut and not to look as Elias had told her. She didn't want to see anymore, she just wanted to leave.
"Go up, you can take that to the outside… I will follow." Elias said holding up the broken body of the guard who had his head on backwards thanks to the massive beast. His free hand grabbed Chise and gingerly set her near the now torn duct work. "Up and left, turn right at the fan, climb the ladder and go right into the street. I will be there to join you soon."
She didn't have a choice or chance to argue and scrambled up the ventilation duct ignoring the continuing shouts and roars of her sole benefactor. Her knees scraping along the surface while her chest tightened up, the possibility of freedom was causing her breathing to almost seize up, her hands shaking as she followed Elias's words, turning left and then an immediate right at the fan.
The shallow cracks and yelling faded as she came to the ladder and began her ascent, the metal barrier separating sections had been ripped completely clear by his intrusion earlier as she made progress though already becoming winded as she never had exerted herself physically in any manner for as long as she could remember.
Still as she pulled up over that metal ledge and crawled around the next corner, and saw the daylight.
The sun was burning as she climbed through the open vent- and was grabbed hard by four armed guards. They didn't even give her a chance to yell or cry as her mouth was covered in tape and her head was covered by a heavy cloth bag.
"Subject secure, removing her from the designated location immediately." One of the men spoke as Chise couldn't even begin to fight back as she was loaded up by her arms and legs by each of the men and then tossed unceremoniously in the back end of a large cargo van.
The back doors still hung open as two of the men stood the back ramp while they slid Chise forwards along the van's floor to isolate the back from the driver's compartment. Radio traffic continued between parties in the area as they had no idea how long it would be until the other unwelcome party member might arrive. But with the noise still coming through men being fed into a meat grinder they had time.
Gathering up his men the leader began giving orders "Alright four in the back, one up front with the driver don't-!"
The van then jerked forwards as the accelerator was punched, the two men on the back were tossed by the sudden movement while Chise spun halfway around inside the vehicle, her nose breathing and wheezing through her head as she felt herself moving.
In the front the driver reached up and adjusted the side mirror. A slightly aged face looked with such calm eyes into the side mirror as he had just dumped the security team. A man of skill and composure, the finest member of the service known as WISE.
"Reinforcements and support vehicles should be soon they'll be taking the next street and pulling a fan out pursuit, it's best if using the side alley until arriving on the main trolley road." The driver spoke calmly as he shifted gears and cut the wheel hard with impeccable accuracy and swung down the alleyway barely grazing the side as he punched it hard down the street hearing the sirens coming and passing by them as he managed just inches on either side of his vehicle and shifted gears to continue driving.
He saw the doors in the back still flailing open, not ideal but he looked into the metal grated viewport showing the position of the subject in the back.
"It will be bumpy." He said though they could not hear him. Cutting the wheel hard, he cut through one lane of traffic, slipping through the rush hour and skimming through the sea of cars that blare their horns at him as he went right across and cut another hard right sending his cargo bouncing around in the back, but he had no choice.
Several vehicles whirred in front of him, red lights blaring. "Reaction time quicker than expected."
Swinging down another side street to break contact he brought his one hand up while driving steady with the other. "Nightfall, be ready to receive."
Without even waiting for confirmation on the other end of the line, the driver grasped the handbrake, pulling the momentum enough to slide his occupant in the back to the rear, the bumpy ride causing the muffled cries to be heard from the flapping open doors. But they were not disturbed.
Swinging around a hard U-turn into the lane ahead, his target in the back was sent flying outwards, her panicked flailing was caught for several long moments in the air as time seemed to slow down for the inevitable smack of her body against concrete and impact upon a car.
Falling to the ground a woman with the most serious stoic glare looked straight ahead, their hair a light brown with pale skin. Waiting for only several moments this unknown compatriot known simply as Nightfall stepped to the side exposing a padded gurney.
Her hands shot up and caught the near picture perfect landing of the teen slowing her descent down to land with only a heavy thud into the cushioned padding. To where the woman shoved the gurney forwards into the back end of an open ambulance.
His pursuers, still attempting to keep up with the van, missed the doors to the ambulance and saw a solitary woman standing with her back turned to them.
The driver of the van had planned his own escape aimed straight ahead, punching the pedal to the floor. He watched the odometer creak higher as the rear view mirror showed those following him. Moving to round another corner, the driver clicked the door and pushed through the rushing wind and as he fully crossed around the solid turn he jumped. Crashing into some standing decorative 'trees' he locked the still moving vehicle forwards. Sending it speeding towards the ramp of an expressway.
As he slipped from the tree a mask having been ripped away and his guard clothes now left behind inside the tree revealing a dashing blonde man with a green suit and red tie, gloved hands holding a hat as his parked car was just several feet away.
Remaining careful as he saw the oncoming cars pull around the corner and give chase to the now driverless van which plowed onto the ramp and crashed through the barrier and flew over the expressway and onto the street below resulting in a small explosion.
"Mission complete." Was all the disguised driver said as he got into his car and pulled out now heading in the opposite direction of the now scattered security force. Pulling around the corner he made a few short turns to find his partner sitting in the ambulance. Her disguise vanished revealing white hair and an unchanging expression although hidden deep behind those eyes were the longing of a woman for her teacher.
"Doctor," 'Senpai….' "Let's return our patient to the hospital." 'Surely I am more worthy now. Acknowledge my love twilight.'
"I will follow you Fiona. But be careful we're still not sure what we are dealing with." Twilight said using her mission name and then with an affirming nod the pair drove off with a sedated patient in the back. 'My mission is complete. The gathering of this research subject by the eastern government can possibly lead to some developments for operation Strix as this has the stamp of Desmond's approval. A man who's looking to control the world through military force would have no objections to using those who are unwilling and unable to refuse.'
With the drive back to their cover location at the local hospital remaining quiet aside from the extra secret police and regular patrol units were moving all around in the direction that they had come from. 'It appears that the information that had been found within the painting was indeed coded in such a way to throw off the secrets hidden below the sanatorium.' It gave the spy a feeling of pride that all of the work he and Nightfall had more of a purpose through that tennis tournament. But his hands gripped the wheel tighter, it also gave rise to more fears as this patient was such a security threat that it required a near military force for a single girl. 01A, that's all they were able to uncover and not even he himself had been able to gain any access inside of the facility. There were checks upon checks, and only select personnel were allowed inside but he had learned that they were planning a move out from the facility and that many personnel on scene were briefed that there was going to be a serious safety threat.
It was why he had borrowed the look of the main van driver and had taken the test subject without having to directly infiltrate and broken the trail of the government in pursuit of him. There was no evidence linking the West to this, and there would be even fewer clues left behind as the van was a smoldering wreck.
Checking his watch Twilight still had over three hours until his 'work' was done and would return home to his fake family and continue operation strix.
[***]
They arrived inside and several lesser agents were outside waiting to receive their new 'patient' . Her secret arrival was covered with the guise of a new psych patient, a bipolar schizophrenic, with amnesia, and possible violent tendencies pushed out onlookers and those curious from the area. The agents didn't speak as Nightfall got out and walked to the back of the ambulance, hoping to show her beloved that she had exceeded expectations.
Opening up the doors as Doctor 'Loid Forger' stepped out of his car and came up. The headgear was removed from the patient's face and the mouth restraint as well.
Twilight wasn't sure what to expect but when the face of a haggard redheaded teenage girl popped into view it made his heart twist as she was just another victim of this war. Whatever her abilities or talents were she was now 'safe' until they were able to transport her out of the East and to a proper facility in the West.
Moving her now would be far too dangerous; they needed to have a cover story before any action was taken with all security and precautions in place. She was still under the effects of the Ketamine shot given by Nightfall letting her be sedated until they knew her potential.
Still they didn't chance anything. The girl was placed inside of a straight jacket though the frailness of her body didn't seem warranting such treatment. But as Twilight remained quiet watching the other agents work, 'What would require several platoons of armed security for just her?' He didn't show his confusion but followed in as the 'patient' was wheeled inside a safe section of the hospital run by Twilight's spy organization and had easy access to their Handler who would be expecting a report of what was recovered before the day was out.
"Is something wrong doctor?" Nightfall spoke, taking Twilight's focus away from their target as they walked behind them. But the words passed from her lips were different from what was spoken. 'This does not seem correct, for a high level security threat.'
"No of course not, I'm just performing an observation." Returning the coded language between the two of them. 'We can not be truly certain of their reason but it warranted such a heavy response there has to be a reason.'
"I see."
Both parties remained on site for the time being as subject O1A was set within her own room still resting but there was only a short break until finally the big secret began to wake up. Both agents were inside of the room when this happened, the idea of showing themselves as caring individuals as there would be no way for her to know they had any involvement with her escape and subsequent re-capture.
Imprinting upon a person in a positive light was paramount if information was to be gathered, trust was essential. Sure fear and torture were tools to be used, but if that information was given freely and unbiased then all would be much happier with the result.
Another nameless agent was inside when Twilight and Nightfall noticed their subject stirring. Her body had begun to shift and move more and more until finally her eyes opened.
The good 'doctor' immediately moved in. "Good morning." Sitting upon a rolling swivel chair he pushed himself across the room with immaculate precision. Gifting her with a huge smile, "I'm doctor Forger young lady."
'Trepidation, fear, and panic' He knew all of those looks easily as soon as the girl looked at him. 'Given her status as a test subject and no human nomenclature it is best to reassure her that she is safe within our care.' "You have nothing to be scared of Miss, this is a hospital we are just making sure that everything is alright, you weren't conscious when we brought you in so we had to restrain you for safety reasons." The use of a straight jacket had to be explained, not that he found it necessary but she was a test subject who knew what could've been done to her.
Still despite his best first impressions the girl looked around her entire body showing growing fear and anxiety.
It was now that Nightfall stepped in. "You are in a mental hospital young mam, we are all here to help you. If you could tell us your name we can begin looking for your records to better help you."
'One is direct, the other is seen as reassuring and not too pushy, give her a chance to respond to one side first and then build from there.'
Yet she did nothing but turn away from them, tears showing, her fear had turned into terror and she began to shake and mumble incoherently to herself, her lower jaw biting into the top of the straight jacket.
Both spies looked at each other. Knowing they had an issue. They withdrew, attacking wasn't an option.
"It would appear the patient is unresponsive" 'I have concerns that will require extra specialists'
Nightfall did not shift her gaze from Twilight. "I would agree, perhaps she will need time to rest." 'There are signs that concern me as well, I feel we are not in our element.'
"Agreed, before we-" As they spoke a knock came from the door and interrupted both of the agents.
"Doctor, nurse there is an urgent call waiting for you." It was one of the other orderlies working for them. His face was one of grave concern.
"Alright keep an eye on the new ward and we will take it." Twilight said offering a pat on the man's shoulder but inside his mind began processing what would be the next counter offensive put on by the East in response…
The response was one that could put their entire operation and safety in jeopardy.
On a national televised broadcast the eastern government had put out a carte blanche statement. "Today an act of terror was perpetrated in our country's great city and a very sensitive material has been taken with ill intent. We in the East do not have proof of any foreign collaboration at this time with Western agents but we can not rule out that violent extremists have not taken it but we do know the faces of one of the perpetrators and should anyone view this person we ask that you immediately contact the authorities. This is for the sake of you, your families, neighbors and the country."
Without pause the face of the subject they had just brought in was posted. A picture showing the gloomy and solemn face of a teenage girl with red hair and green eyes.
"As a result the entire city shall be placed under martial law, the military and authorities will be conducting door to door sweeps over the following week to locate this suspect and those who conspire with her and should any individual recognize this image please contact-"
"Senpai…" Nightfall said not taking her eyes from the screen.
'This will be trouble, we will have to go through WISE to extract her, but I can already imagine that the city is being surrounded, no doubt looking to spook us into acting.' "We shall contact the handler and follow their direction. For now, look into creating a hollow location to hide her."
"Of course, I shall see to it." With that his female accomplice turned to carry out her duties. Ignoring her personal desires to stay by his side, but this was a test to her. And another opportunity to outpace the woman Yor Forger. She had too, for her desire for Twilight was an ever present motivator and prove that she was the only woman for him.
Oblivious to Nightfall's internal conflict Twilight was left to begin planning his own plans moving forwards but as he tried to understand the beast contained within the lab he had been at a few short hours ago wailed and howled its pain of separation for all to hear.
