Hello,
My name is Queen Lilian La Frog and my destiny is to be the next Frog Princess. Yes, my first name is queen. My parents' thought it was a perfect name for their regal daughter, but I prefer to go by Lilian or Lily. Lily is even better, it sounds way more down to earth and pretty like the flower. However, everyone at school calls me Queen. Being a royal at ever after high, people expect a certain image of me and unfortunately, Queen is stuck to me like glue. Even though my destiny is to be the next Frog princess my mother must have been a rebel deep down and decided to give me a name fitting of a bigger title and my parents' ambitions.
Before coming to ever after high I lived in the Frog Kingdom on my parents' royal estate. I love my home. It's full of lush trees and bubbling ponds and rivers. The weather is eternal spring full of the scent of fresh earth and gentle breezes. It looks straight out of a painting. The estate was cream and furnished with gold accents that glittered in the morning sunshine. I love waking up in the mornings in my queen-sized bed covered in fresh white silk, to the golden sunlight drifting through my open windows and the birds singing.
The frog kingdom borders both the Dark and Enchanted forests of the world of ever after and our land is mostly made up of deep forests, lakes, rivers and ponds filled with wildlife, fitting of our fairy tale legacy. The forest in the east of the Frog Kingdom bordering the dark forest is wilder and eerier while the forest bordering the west closet the enchanted forest is brighter and glittering. But I think both sides are equally enchanting, and the dark forest is just as filled with magic as the enchanted forest. It just has a bad reputation. I think the darkness adds more mystery and magic and makes the woodland full of far more interesting wildlife. Because of how our kingdom borders both forests and lies in the middle of ever after, we are big on exporting and trading magical goods. This makes the frog kingdom one of the richest in the fairy tale realms, second only to Snow White's kingdom.
My father and mother, the Duke and Duchess La Frog run our estate and my father's training business and are very influential in the Frog kingdom. My father, the duke is the Frog Kings' closest advisor. The Frog King and Queen are Hoppers' parents, my closest childhood friend. He used to be ill as a child and would spend time at our estate in the country for his health. We spent so much time together reading books, studying flowers (I can identify every flower in the kingdom and list them in alphabetical order) and playing in the gardens of the estate. We were inseparable those summers, spending our nights telling stories in our blanket forts and the days in the grand library. Of course, we knew we were destined to be together him being my destined prince, and me destined to break his curse, but that was all the future and our happily ever after seemed like fun, we could have fun like we did in those summer moths forever, he would never have to leave our games when autumn came, and he went back to the palace. But over time we grew apart as most friends do, and now... well, it's more complicated.
I was homeschooled at the La Frog estate up until my 14th year. My parents took my education seriously and wanted to make sure I was well equipped to become the next queen of the frog kingdom. Because of their decision, I missed my freshman year at Ever After High. My destiny brought them great pride and they were determined that I would bring great fortune and respect to the LaFrog name. I was sent to Ever After High when I just turned fifteen. They sent with me my ladies' maid, Bogmyrtle, but she goes by Myrtle for short, a bog nymph who was appointed by my mother to look after me or make sure I am following my destiny in my opinion. But luckily Myrtle is my best friend and, really my only friend, she's too much of a free spirit to follow my mother's orders precisely and I trust her as my friend completely. She is my greatest confidante and I hers. We first met when she came to work at my estate two years ago and we have been fast friends ever since. I think my mother hired her so I would have a friend, as I was increasingly keeping to myself in the gardens and my botanical books and wasn't turning out to be the socialite princess as she had hoped. And Bogmyrtle was a friend who lived under her, my mother's, roof so she could keep a watchful eye on us. But Myrtle, being a nymph, has a wild mischievous side to her which I gravitated towards, having been the neat and tidy girl I am, and since Hopper left to go to ever after high before me, she was the only friend I had in the frog kingdom. I admired her free spirit as well as her beauty. She had lush and flawless green skin, long smooth dark green hair that flowed down her back and bloomed small pretty, yellow flowers like stars and long lithe limbs. Her eyes were almond and cat-like giving her a feminine and alluring air about her.
She also shares my love of flora and fauna, well, of course, she does being a nymph of a forest flower, and she would tell me stories of growing up with the other nymphs in the enchanted forest of our kingdom. We spent our days together going for woodland walks, braiding each other's hair in the sunlight, talking and gossiping in the gardens about silly stories she had heard in the kitchens and from the royals that my mother invited to stay in the estate and having tea parties in the library. When I was with her, I never worried about my destiny or the future as a royal, I was content in the summer sunshine and her smile. Nothing else mattered in those moments apart from us. The estate was our own world and we were both its princesses.
But that was all about to change. News came to the frog kingdom from Ever After High about the disaster that was legacy day. Raven Queen never signed the book. This worried my parents greatly and The frog King and Queen, Hoppers' Parents, that this could throw the whole fairy tale world out of balance and as such prevent the next generations' stories from taking place, discontinuing the line of the frog prince and princess. This would mean our story would slip from people's memories and we would cease to exist. I was terrified that the beautiful green and golden realm of the frog kingdom would disappear, I loved the golden estate and the magical forests that me and myrtle would playfully chase each other in and hide from my lessons. My father began to worry that my absence from ever after high would be noticed and that people in ever after would not take our fairy tale or the role I was to play seriously. No, I must be there to represent the Frog Kingdom.
"There is doubt about it", my father said to my mother the evening after legacy day. "She must start her studies at Ever After High, she has been here long enough, it is time to remind the people of Ever After the importance of the Frog Kingdom"
"It could be dangerous though!" my mother argued back, "There is obviously a rebellion underway at that school. She has been under my wing her whole life and she can learn how to fulfil her destiny here; do you doubt my teaching?"
"Of course, not my dear but you must agree it is about time she takes her place in society among the other Royals her age. There are some things you can't teach her keeping her home at the estate, now don't argue with me" my father cut my mother short as she opened her mouth to argue back, "It is decided, she will complete her education at Ever After High and remind the people of our royal heritage and traditions. It is best for us all and our future Kingdom"
So it was decided overnight that I would leave my home of the frog kingdom and the glittering estate that I loved and travel to the world of Ever After High to become a student. Although I was sad to leave home for a while, I was excited about this new adventure and seeing Hopper again. Sometimes Hopper would send pictures from his classes at Ever After and it all looked so lively and such an inspiring and fun place filled with learning and classes that were not conducted by my mother. In all honesty, I couldn't take another one of her curtsying classes. My Mother made sure that Myrtle would come along with me to look after me which filled me with delight. I got to go to a dream school with my best friend forever after! Myrtle was equally excited. Like me, she had never left the frog kingdom. Although I viewed her as wiser and more worldly than me, the truth was my family's estate was the farthest she had ever been from her bog home and she was giddy with the excitement of attending school. She would be the first in her family to do so.
We were ready for our next adventure!
"Now remember," Mother said to me before we departed in the carriage for Ever After, "You must behave in a manner befitting of a future Princess. Do not forget about the curse, you can not kiss anyone until your destiny takes place, lest you don't want terrible things to happen, you know the nature of our fairy tale."
"Yes mother, I promise to be good," I said climbing into the carriage next to Myrtle, impatient to leave, and for the next exciting chapter of my story to begin.
"That means no conversing with fairy tale princes, unless that is, Hopper Croakington II, you have a great reputation to uphold. And stay away from those rebels. They will curse you and try to steal your happily ever after" she said through the window.
"Yes mother, I understand"
"And I will call you on the mirror net every moment I get!"
"Yes moth- wait, that's a bit too excessive"
"Oh I will miss you, but you will love being a royal and the next Frog Princess. Look after her Bogmyrtle, stick together, you know how delicate my little Queen can be"
"Mother!" I cried in embarrassment
"Don't worry, Lady La Frog, I will take good care of Queen" Myrtle replied squeezing my hand.
I lent out the carriage to kiss my Mother and Father goodbye before the carriage started to leave. I looked behind us we left my waving mother and father and the glittering mansion of our estate, then sat back down and looked straight ahead smiling, ready to start my destiny.
