The battle had ended. Sain was showing off to the ladies of the company, again. Despite the dangers, again. He got hurt, again. Kent was there to save him, again. It was a never ending process of flirt, show-off, get hurt, nursed by his best friend. Sain felt completely useless as he laid there, staring up at the tent's roof, glaring at it as if it somehow offended how beautiful Lady Lyndis was. But he knew someone else that he admired more than the beautiful Sacean.

But he was sure he was obsessed with Lady Lyndis. She was the most beautiful woman that ever touched the earth. Probably the only man that doesn't love her is he, because another has swayed his heart. Sain sighed as pain enveloped his heart. It was hard seeing his best friend fall for such a tempting pure-hearted woman. And no matter how much he showed off his strength, he'd always get hurt and Kent was always there to save him.

Even Florinda, the weak Pegasus knight, could hold off on her own without serious injury. Sain winced as the pain on his shoulder throbbed once more. A warrior had gotten the better of the newly classed Paladin and stuck his axe deep into the shoulder. Now his entire arm was numb, but the rest of his body ached. The nervous system was a complex thing, but he knew one thing: One side hurt and the other felt like it didn't exist.

The tent flap opened as Sain's eyes narrowed to find his beau—no hands---best friend walk in, his eyes holding concern. Sain held his breath, ready for his lecture.

"Sain, why must you always show off to the ladies of the company?"

If Sain was an angel, Kent's voice would be his God to follow. It was something he yearned to listen to, despite the chastisement.

"Kent, my boon companion! How could you say so? I've gotten careless, that's all. I've always been the careless one."

He heard that agitated sigh.

"You have been showing off. I saw your eyes move to Lady Lyndis to Lady Florinda before the warrior gotten your arm."

Kent was always the observer. He was like a mother hen and Sain was his precious baby chick.

"…Alright you win Kent. You've always been the observing kind. Have you decided that you wish to be as handsome as me, so that you can get that Lady Lyndis of yours?" He cooed, closing his eyes to hide the pain from them.

Kent blinked.

"Lady Lyndis is beautiful, yes…stunning even. But I am just her loyal subject who vowed to protect Caelin's Marquess and heir. You made that same vow too, Sain."

Sain blinked. Was there hope perhaps? Sain relaxed more as he closed his eyes. His eyes opened again as he felt something cold on his forehead and saw Kent putting a damp cloth on his head. He didn't miss the blush on his face at being noticed as Kent regained his composure so fast, Sain wondered if he was delusional.

"You are starting to come down with a fever. Or rather, you are turning very warm."

Sain missed how Kent implied 'warm'. So instead, he smiled.

"Ah, thanks Kent. I should get some rest."

Sain said that so being awake any further won't but him under more pain. At least he knew Kent didn't love Lyndis…but that didn't mean his feelings were returned. The bedroll moved and Sain felt unfamiliar heat next to him and he looked, shocked, into Kent's eyes. The towel was removed.

"You're started to get cold…you need some body heat other than the thin blanket."

Sain recognized three main attributes to counter Kent. One, the blanket was very warm already. Two, he had a 'fever' a moment ago and now he suddenly got cold. Three, The night wasn't even cold.

…But none of that mattered. Nodding, Sain drifted off to sleep. For the first time, he realized, that he would sleep with no nightmares of rejection.
