Won't you be my Phantom
Barden High School was a school that focuses on sports, and the arts. When it comes to academic achievements Barden is middle but the other two is where they excel. This is the school Chloe Beale attends. She has gone to this school since she was a freshman and now, she is a senior.
Chloe was the youngest in her family, she had an older brother and sister. Chloe was on the cheerleading team, and she was just named captain this summer. She was involved in drama, and choir with her best friend, and Chloe was dating the captain of the football team. As far as she knew her life was perfect. While she was daydreaming, she received a text from her best friend Aubrey Posen to let her know that she is waiting for her. It's the first day of school and both girls are excited.
Chloe grabs her bag, hugs her parents' goodbye, and walks out the door. Aubrey's parents bought her a 2020 Toyota Camry and Aubrey kept it in tip top shape. Chloe laughed at her friend just hoped in the car. "Are you excited about our senior year?" Chloe asked Aubrey as she was driving to school. "Yes, I have some difficult classes this year, but I am excited to be done with this high school drama." Aubrey replied, she was a straight A student and Chloe was thankful for that because Aubrey helped her study.
The two girls pulled up to school where Tom Harris, the captain of the football team, was waiting for his girlfriend to get there. Tom and Chloe had been dating since they were sophomores, and they were known as the "it" couple. Chloe got out the car and went over to kiss Tom on the lips. "What are you doing here so early?" Chloe questioned. "Coach wanted us in the gym lifting this morning before school." Tom replied with a grin.
The bell rang to indicate that students should be getting to their homerooms. Chloe and Tom walked hand in hand on their respective homerooms. This was going to be a year to remember for Chloe, she just didn't know it yet.
Beca Mitchell was also in her final year at Barden. She couldn't wait to get out of this hell hole of a school. She was thankful for her friends but just wanted to hurry up and get to LA to pay her dues and become a music producer. Beca was running late, and her dad Warren asked, "Do you want me to pack your breakfast to go?" Beca replied "Yes, I don't have time to sit down and eat. Do you know if Emily is ready to go?" "Emily Junk, Beca's stepsister replied, "yes now hurry up or we will be late for school."
Beca's mother died when she was just born due to complications of the pregnancy. Ben was devastated over it, years later eventually Warren found love again in Cathy Junk. Cathy had a little girl from a previous relationship who was about 2 ½ year younger than Beca. Both girls were gifted in music, but Warren discovered that Beca was a musical genius. She would be able to hear a song once and play it flawlessly. They bought her a piano, and she took lessons for about a year before Beca became better than her teacher.
She only took the lessons to understand the fundamentals of the piano. Beca was like that with every instrument she picked up. But not only was Beca gifted in being able to play any instrument, her voice was jaw dropping. She was always in pitch and knew how to correct her posture, breathing, anything to sound better than the originals. Beca would work with Emily as well to make sure she always sounded the best. Beca stopped singing to give the spotlight to her sister. Both girls loved each other very much and even though they were stepsisters, to them they were blood related.
Warren threw Beca's breakfast in the same bag as her lunch and told the girls "Have a good first day" as he rushed them out the door. Beca wasn't much of a car person, she just liked the way things looked, so her dad bought her a 2019 dodge charger and she paid to get the windows tinted. She was racing to get to school on time, and as she was pulling into the parking lot the bell rang. She found her spot quickly, her and Emily raced inside and made it to their homeroom on time.
The day was uneventful for Beca, luckily, she had a free period at the end of the day, so she went to the band room. She discovered earlier that day that Mr. Wilson didn't have a class at the end of the day so she asked if she could just come there and play around. He of course smiled at Beca and agreed. He quickly recognized Beca's talents when she took her first music class with him her freshman year.
"Are you planning on playing the piano Beca or the guitar?" Mr. Wilson asked her as she walked through the door. Honestly, I am just exhausted and was hoping to take a nap today. He laughed at her but let her be. Down the hall from the band room was the Drama department. Chloe and Aubrey were waiting for their teacher Ms. Hall to announce what this year musical was going to be.
"Alright class settle down; I know you all only care about hearing is what musical we will be performing this year. But I do have to go over what we will be doing this year so just listen up." Ms. Hall told her class, a collective groan could be heard, but they were quiet as they heard their teacher explain what all they will be expected to do this year.
"Now that we have that out of the way I will announce the spring musical. Mr. Wilson and I have been talking all summer on what to perform and it wasn't until last week that we decided." Ms. Hall was dragging out the news until somebody shouted, "Just tell us already geez!" Ms. Hall giggled and said, "our spring musical is going to be The Phantom of the Opera." The whole class erupted in cheers, this was a popular musical and they all were excited to perform it.
Auditions will be held next month to give you plenty of time to prepare a song. Chloe was already planning her song choice, she wanted to audition for the role of Christine Daaé. She turned her head to Aubrey and said, "This is going to be the best musical we have ever performed." Aubrey nodded her head in agreement, and the two went on to talk about who they were going to audition for and what song they wanted to sing.
The bell rang for the end of school, Beca had texted her sister to meet her in the band room. Emily was looking for something in her backpack and wasn't paying any attention when she ran into Aubrey. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry. Are you okay?" Asked Emily as she and Aubrey both fell to the ground. "You should watch where you are going next time." Aubrey said angrily. Emily was picking up her stuff quickly, feeling embarrassed when she noticed Chloe helping her with her things. "Hi, my name is Chloe Beale, what's your name? Emily looked at her warm smile and said, "My name is Emily Junk, I'm really sorry for getting into your way." "Don't worry about it, just be careful next time." Chloe said and Emily nodded and went back towards the music room.
"I don't know why you were being nice to her Chloe, she knocked me down," Aubrey said off handedly. "She looks like a freshman, totally lost and terrified of other people. Give her a break." Chloe replied as the two made their way outside to their car. Aubrey just ignored Chloe and got into the car and drove off. "So what song are you going to audition with? I am thinking of singing Primadonna." Aubrey said trying to change the subject. Chloe looked out the window and said "I was thinking I was going to sing Think of Me. It can really show off my range." Aubrey agreed and the two made plans to work on their song choices over the weekend.
Emily and Beca made it home and was bombarded with questions. "How was the first day of school? Did anything exciting happen?" Warren asked his daughters. "Nothing out of the ordinary for me." Beca said and Emily told both Warren and Beca how she ran into a girl who terrified her and Beca was upset that somebody made her little sister feel this way. "Who was she Emily, what did she look like?" "Oh, uh she was a tall blonde with green eyes, she was walking with a redheaded girl." Emily said trying to not give too much away because she knew once Beca got mad and found her next target there was no stopping her. "Sounds like that stuck up bitch Aubrey Posen. She thinks she is so much better than everybody else." Beca said, because she knew the Aubrey and Chloe were always together, and Chloe was the only redhead in school.
"Beca don't do anything stupid alright. It was my fault for running into her. I was making sure I had all my books I needed for my homework tonight." Emily said pleading with Beca to forget all about it. Beca just looked at Emily and decided to leave it alone. "I won't say or do anything this time Emily but if she does something to you again, I can't promise anything." Beca said as she made her way upstairs. Beca worked on her music the rest of the night since she didn't have any homework to do.
