So, this story is a sort of alternate version of my other story 'Where the Lonely Ones Roam' because it's about a girl from our world ending up in TVD, becoming the character she made up her in mind, and also becoming a witch, a siphoner specifically. But, other than this chapter and some other similarities later on (like the main couple being OC!Self-Insert/Damon), they are going to be very different stories. (In fact, you might find more similarities with my other story 'Rising from the Ashes' in the attitude Jade – the OC – will have, and in her relationship with Damon). No Jenna or Jeremy in this story, no Vicki Donovan either.
Summary: Jade makes a wish and becomes Jade Gilbert, sister to Elena Gilbert, replacing Jeremy Gilbert. Though she's older than Elena, not younger. Oh, and she's a witch, a siphoner to be more precise. She doesn't know how she ended up in the TVD world but she doesn't care all that much. All she cares about is having as much fun as possible and have Damon fall in love with her. Damon/OC. Story starts in 1x02, 'The Night of the Comet'.

Prologue
Sometimes, when Jade had nothing better to do, she would imagine ways in which she would change her favorite tv shows, movies or books. Not because there was anything wrong with them (well, except for the last season of Game of Thrones, which was almost universally despised) but simply for the fun of it.
One of her favorite TV shows was 'the Vampire Diaries' and though it had more than its shares of problems, especially in the last seasons, it still remained, at least in her humble opinion, one of the best of its genre (not to the level of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', of course, but which was?). It was certainly iconic.
Personally, what Jade liked best, was the vast and varied world they had created, with its own set of rules and lore. Well, and Damon, naturally. She loved the Originals – well, not Finn, but definitely all the others – but her favorite character has always been and will always be Damon.
While Jade had loved the relationship between Damon and Elena, sometimes she wondered what would have happened if Damon had fallen for someone else, instead of Elena. What would have happened if Damon hadn't spent more than 3 seasons pining after Elena? What if he had fallen for a different girl instead?
And, since she was pathetic like that, she would sometimes imagine what it would be like to be a part of that world and she would spend hours just thinking about what kind of character she would be. Like a video game, what would her avatar be like and look like?
First of all, her appearance. Her avatar couldn't look like herself. No, her avatar would look like Taylor Hill, but with much bigger boobs, like Sophie Mudd, and very vivid jade green eyes.
Her name would be Jade, like her own name. Jade would be the witch of the story, but not a normal witch. No, in fact, she wanted Jade to be a siphoner and part of the Gemini Coven. Obviously, Bonnie and the Bennetts wouldn't be witches anymore. Bonnie could be some other kind of supernatural creature. Perhaps she could be a psychic (more similar to the psychics in the books than the show) but her power would be awakened after she dies and then brought back to life with magic (basically what happens to Jeremy in canon at the end of season2; so Bonnie is the one that sees ghosts, not Jeremy; but she will have other psychic powers as well, not only the ability to see ghosts). Before that she'd be just a normal human.
Emily Bennett wouldn't be Emily Bennett anymore but Emily Parker (and she would have looked like Ruth Wilson because, why not?) but, for the rest, she would be the same character as she was in canon.
What would her surname be though?
After some thinking, she decided that she wanted Jade to replace Jeremy Gilbert, and, in a way, Vicki Donovan as well. Instead of Jade being the younger sister of Elena, she would be the older sister. Vicki wouldn't exist, of course, so Matt would be a lonely child. Like Vicki in canon, she would be the 'party girl' with a bit of a bad reputation, the 'troublemaker' as opposed to 'perfect Elena' (though not as pathetic or basically a drug addict like Vicki Donovan). Pretty much everything that happens in the pilot for Vicki (except her interactions with Jeremy, obviously) would happen to Jade instead. She'd be the one who's with Tyler and then she'd be the one Damon will attack at the party at the Falls. But Damon wouldn't limit himself to just bite her. He'd actually turn her, not realizing that she's a witch from the same bloodline as Emily Parker (though he will know she's Elena's sister, that would be the reason why he'd target her specifically and why he'd turn her). People wouldn't realize that Jade had been killed in the woods because no one would go looking for her, assuming she's just somewhere getting high and drunk. In fact, Elena wouldn't even get worried when Jade doesn't return home and Jo would get angry, thinking, like everyone else, that she's been up all night partying as her usual.
To make sure Jade could continue life as normal and not being discovered as a vampire, especially by the council, but also so that her aunt and sister would remain unaware (Elena not for long, obviously), Jade would have super-control of her bloodlust, (though she would still need Damon's help to learn how to function as a vampire without going on a killing spree or without flipping her switch) even more than Caroline. Also, let's say she has a mini-fridge in her room so she could keep blood bags there without being discovered.
Of course, once Damon would find out about Jade being a witch, he'd enlist her help to open the tomb. In exchange for Emily's grimoire and his help in dealing with her new existence as a vampire. He would also swear not to hurt or kill anyone else in town, especially her sister, her aunt, Caroline, Bonnie and Matt would be off-limits.
Jade would be born in August 1991 (like Vicki in canon), but she would be in the same year as Elena because she was held back one year.
Matt would be the supernatural hunter – one of the Five – since Jeremy wouldn't be present in the story anymore.
To make sense for Jade to be a Gemini Coven witch, but not Elena, the witches would have to be in Miranda's bloodline. Therefore both Miranda and Jenna would have to be witches. But since there was already a canon witch from the Gemini Coven in Jo, she decided that Jo would be Miranda's sister and not Jenna.
Jo would still be a doctor like in canon but she would be working in Mystic Falls, not at Whitmore. Unlike canon though, she wouldn't have given up her powers by putting her magic in a teddy bear; no, instead, she would still have her magic but she wouldn't really practice witchcraft much because she would have never been very powerful or good at it in the first place (but she would get better at it once she'd realize that her magic could be useful to protect the people that she loves; that would give her true motivation to get better). She wouldn't die like Jenna did in canon. In fact, she would basically replace the role that Meredith Fell had in canon. And she and Alaric would get their happy ending.
Therefore, Miranda Gilbert would be born a Parker and a witch. However, after the massacre – that would happen in 1984 and not 1994 – both Miranda and Jo would have changed their names to Sommers, their mother's maiden name, and moved to Mystic Falls (where their mother would be originally from). Miranda would be older than Jo (and older than she is in canon), born in 1962, and she would be the one who was Kai's twin and not Jo. Jo would be born in 1976 (the same year as Alaric) so she would have been only eight years old when the massacre happened.
Her mother Miranda would be the one who taught her magic – but, in secret. No one else in the family would be aware of this, neither Elena, nor Grayson, not John. And that was only because Jade would find out about the fact that her mother's family was a family of witches and she'd insist on learning, threatening her mother that she'd learn alone if she had to. Her mother, worried about her daughter practicing magic without supervision, would relent and taught her all that she knew. Miranda would have been a little put out by the fact that her own daughter was a siphoner like Kai had been, but she would remind herself that Jade was nothing like Kai and that Jade was her daughter and Miranda loved her.
Of course, the thing she wanted the most after coming up with this what-if scenario, would be to become her avatar – Jade Gilbert herself. Though she wouldn't want to live through Tyler Lockwood assaulting her or Damon killing her and turning her into a vampire, so perhaps it would be better to skip that part and simply wake up the next day - during the 'Night of the Comet' episode basically.
Not that it was in any way possible to end up in a freaking TV show so even musing about such a thing was pointless. Jade decided to banish the thought from her mind.
She got ready for bed instead, not noticing the shooting star passing through the night sky outside her window. She went to sleep, not knowing everything would be different for her tomorrow.
