"Daddy?"

Elli the farmer looks down to see to his daughter staring up at him with extremely sad eyes from beside the fireplace. Sighing, he puts down the wooden statue he had been whittling and holds open his arms. She trots over with her deep red braids swinging and climbs on her fathers lap. "What is it, sweetie?" Elli murmurs, laying his head on her bonnet head.

"When's Mummy coming back?" Amy, the daughter, asks sadly.

"As soon as she can. You know she always comes back when we need her most. Almost like she has a little screen that tells her so!" They both laugh quietly at his joke, then stare in to the fire silently. Eventually Elli's other child, Andrew, comes down the stairs and he too sits on his fathers other knee.

"When Mummy comes home do you think she'll bring me another present?" Andrew suddenly pipes up excitedly. He jumps of Elli's lap and pulls out his toy gun out of the waistband of his pants. He starts to run around, aiming at random targets around the Oakfield cottage. His finger pulled the trigger faster then any child's should. Amy, his twin sister, jumps down and pulls out her toy sword, swinging with as much unnatural speed and velocity as her brother. The small family laughed and played as the sun went down and the light outside went out. It had just struck midnight when there was a knock on the door.

Everyone froze and turned to look. We're on Serenity Farm. Behind a demon door. No on should know we are here. These thoughts were echoing in all they're heads as Elli heads toward the door. He hesitates for a second then slowly reaches for the doorknob. It swings open at the slight touch. Outside the night was so still and silent that Elli almost closed the door, thinking it was just a trick of the ears. That's when a man stepped out of the darkness. He was tall, old, and very intimidating. "Sorry about the house call." The man says with a soft smile. He slowly raises a pistol level with Elli's chest just as two huge men clad in red stepped behind him. Just as he realized it was Lucien holding the gun there was a loud bang. The pistol kicked and Elli goes flying in to the next wall. He falls hard on to the floor. Looking up, the rest of the attack seemed to pass in a strange rush yet incredibly slow.

Andrew rises as tall as five year old height would allow and tries to raise his toy gun. Another bang and his eyes glaze over and he crumples. Amy starts to scream, holding her ratty teddy bear she had picked up when she had first heard the knock. And so she kept screaming, even when there was another shot, even when her blood splattered on the wood walls. Even her arms fell to her sides and the teddy bear's arm slipped from her fingers. Even when she fell to the floor and her little chest stopped rising. Her scream still echoed in Elli's ears as tears pooled up and fell down his face. Lucien turns, saw that he was still alive, and sneered. Once again he aims his pistol to Elli's chest.

"Why? Why are you doing this…?" Elli whispers with the last dregs of strength he had left.

"Oh, I think you know the answer to that!" Lucien exclaims. He leans forward and whispers mockingly "Sparrow…"

Another bang and Elli was dead.
