A young male yellow mouse was currently discreetly making his way over to one of the many trees in the forest. He had yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on his back and had a small mouth, long pointed ears with black tips and brown eyes. On his cheek is a red circle that contains a pouch for electricity storage. He had short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and on his feet was three toes. At the base of his lightning bolt-shaped tail is a patch of brown fur.

This is Agent Pika, (or more commonly known as Pikachu) leader of one of the many teams in MDPF (Mystery Dungeon Pokémon Force). He was brought into the Rookie Rank after both his mother and father died while he was still just a young Pichu. Following the death of his parents the young tiny mouse was on his own for at least 2 weeks, learning how to live in the wild and defend for himself. The Head Master of MDPF one day found the tiny mouse in an alleyway, close to death and saved him from dying. A few days later, after some consideration, he allowed the tiny mouse to join MDPF and 3 years after that, the yellow mouse graduated into the rank of leader, evolving into a Pikachu and gained a team of his own

Finally the yellow mouse got to the tree he wanted and walked over to it slowly. However he soon spotted a Deerling and took cover, waiting for the Pokémon to leave the area as pre-PMDF regulations stated he do so

Pika's P.O.V
I sighed in relief after I saw the Deerling leave the area 2 minutes later. I made my way back over to the tree I was looking at before and pressed my paw on the bark. I waited a good 30 seconds, waiting to be scanned and saw as the secret door opened up. I smiled and went inside, making sure the door closed and was securely locked (didn't want an accident to happen... again)

Once done with that I made my way over to the 'living room' and looked around for what I came here for in the first place. This tree was the where MDPTs (Mystery Dungeon Pokemon Teams) got their missions assigned to them. I sighed in relief as I finally found the items I needed and placed the black machine box on the table and turned it on;

"Good afternoon Agent Pika" said a voice from the poké-corder (Pokémon tape recorder), who I recognized as Head Master Wigglytuff. He can be a real pain at times, always so serious and never smiling... except on rare occasions, but he also took care of me and as such I couldn't think so badly of him...

Of course don't get me started on his second in command, now he's even worst than head master! That guy needs to learn to live a little

"Recently you and the other agents have heard rumors regarding MDPF's ace team having gone missing. Many presumed they were either caught or killed in action" he said as I opened up the black folder beside the poké-corder and saw the team members of the ace MDPT

First was the prankster of the team; Joker, a Gengar. He was always playing pranks on all the younger members and one of the nicest seniors in the place. He can be serious in battles of course, but that didn't stop him from making it seem fun

Next was the only female of the group; Libby, a Serperior. Other than Joker, she's also nice and a great medic too. Female grass types looked up to her a lot and would learn everything they could about healing from her and how to deal with boys

After her was Z, one of the toughest Pokémon of MDPF ever. He was the ace fighter, never losing to anyone expect for some of the higher ups in MDPF. He also had a terrible attitude and temper problems. Seriously he'd go on a rampage if he ever lost a fight against a weak opponent!

Next is the one who I and many others stayed away from when we were younger because other than Z, he was very scary; Gyara, a Gyarados. He was the team's second in command. A born leader and was someone who couldn't tolerate mistakes. Classes with him were a nightmare since he would teach the leadership course at times... I was unfortunately placed in his class once I became a leader myself

Lastly was a picture of the leader; Agent O, a Lucario. No one knew why he wanted to be called O, and no one dared to ask him either. His whole past is a mystery to many, but that didn't matter to anyone since he was the Pokémon everyone in MDPF looked up to the most. I mean he's a role model to all junior MDPT leaders... I hope I can be as good of a leader like him

I turned back my attention to the poké-corder "Those rumours were recently discovered to be correct... MDPF ace team is... dead" he said in a sad tone as I dropped the papers in the folder... The ace team is dead, but how?! "You're probably wondering how they died right?" Creepy how he knew I was thinking about that, but not at all surprising "We do not have all the details surrounding this unfortunately and will have to send out another team to find out what happened"

I gulped as I knew where this was going... and this time it wouldn't be fun or easy "Agent Pika, as leader of Pokepals; the best Gold Rank team in MDPF, your mission should you choose to accept it, is to uncover the truth of what happened to Agent O's team and finish the mission they were assigned. The mission details are all on the USB inside this poke-corder. As always should you or your team be capture or discovered, you and your team will be erased from MDPF computers and will no longer exist. Good luck Agent Pika. This message will need to be destroyed in 10 seconds"

I waited the 10 seconds as I got out the USB and then sent a weak thundershock destroying the poke-corder. I picked up the folder I had dropped and put everything into a small pokepack I had found before listening to the mission

Mystery Dungeon Pokémon Force HQ, 1 hour Later
I made it back to my room in headquarters and lied on my bed, thinking about what was at stake 'Is my team truly ready for this?... Am I even ready for something like this?... what if I mess up and we all get captured or worse killed' I thought, starting to doubt my team and me. It would be our first big mission after all... wait what am I doing!? I can't just doubt our skills all of a sudden! What type of leader would I be?...

Soon the I heard a knock as the door to my room suddenly opened up and who was it? Well it was none other than the medic/healer of my team; Leaf, a Chikorita. She joined MDPF mainly because she had been rejected at every medical Pokémon school she applied at and because her parents didn't agree with her choice in career either. However one day she managed to save Jaws, a Carvanha at the time who was poisoned badly (he's now a Sharpedo) and because of that, after hearing her story he was able to convince the Head Master to let her join and become the healer she always wanted to be

"Agent Leaf reporting for duty Leader" she said as I gave her a small smile. No matter how many times I tried, she wouldn't stop calling me Leader or Agent Pika

"At ease Leaf. What's wrong? You usually don't make visits to me or the others" I asked her, since it was true. She wasn't the socialist of the group, preferring to be alone most of the time

Leaf closed the door and walked over towards her leader "I'm here to report that Eve is feeling better and can resume her duties on the team once again" she said and I nodded, happy that Eve was alright

The last mission we had, made one of our team members suffer an injury. Because of our mistake, we were benched from doing missions for 3 weeks.

I stood there as I saw Leaf about to leave "Wait!" I called out as the Chikorita stopped and looked at me "Leaf, can you please inform everyone from our team to meet here in 10 minutes please... I have something I need to tell all of you" I told her in a serious voice as she nodded and walked out of my room

After the 10 minutes, slowly my team members all arrived at my room, looking confused and excited

First there was Chic, a Torchic. She didn't have a tragic story like me or Leaf, but the way she got into MDPF, is one of the funniest stories heard. Rumors say that Chic actually threaten Chatot (Head Master's second in command), after he rejected her application. If it wasn't for the fact that she is the adopted daughter of a retired Ace Rank member, than Chatot wouldn't have taken her threat seriously. Also her adopted brother Robin, a Fletchinder (who is currently a Platinum Rank) helped convince Chatot about her abilities

Beside Chic was none other than Eve herself, back to walking on her four legs and bouncing around. She's an Eevee and the cousin of Phantom, an Umbreon from Team Explorers. Since Phantom was the only family that Eve had left, she was sent to live in MDPF with her cousin and was soon allowed to join into the Rookie Rank after learning and watching Phantom for so long

Lastly was the only other male member of the team; Rio, a Riolu. He's the nephew of Agent O and wanted nothing more than to be recognized as Rio, not Agent O's nephew. Due to having such a relative, it was easy for him to get into MDPF. However even though he is on a team now, he is still always being compared with his uncle by the younger members. However to me, he's proved multiple times to be a valuable member and I trust him completely, making him my second in command

"What's going on Pika?" asked Chic as she was the one who broke the silence

I sighed and turned on the poke-computer. I plug in the USB and turn the screen for them all to see. I had already seen/read what was on it and as such waited for them to finish. Once I saw all their shocked expression, did I turn of the screen

"Uncle O... he's dead..." Rio said with tears in his eyes. I looked at him sadly as I nodded, after all Head Master had no reason to lie. I watched as Chic went over to comfort Rio, while Eve and Leaf looked at me. They were all wondering the same thing, it was written on their faces; Would we take the mission or not?

I knew the decision was mine to make in the end... but I didn't want to force them into this either. Judging by how this was originally an Ace Rank mission... we a Gold Rank wouldn't stand a chance. However Head Master gave us this mission for a reason and although I'm slightly scared, I will not let him down!

I turned towards everyone else with a determined expression "I not going to force any of you to join me. If you guys don't feel up to the task that's fine... However I'm not going to let Head Master down. This is an important mission after all and I think he gave it to us for a reason"

"But we're only at the Gold Rank. Wouldn't a Platinum, Diamond or Ace Rank be better suited for this?" Eve asked confused

I sighed as Eve was right. She knew how the ranking system worked better than all of us and we aren't even close to becoming a Platinum Rank yet. In order to become part of the Platinum Rank, they needed to have at least 11200 Points... however unfortunately they were only at 9289 points

"We've worked hard to get where we are today! All of us have had a struggling past one way or another... and due to that we've always been underestimated by our fellow agents! I'm accepting the mission... with or without you guys... like I said, I won't force you into doing this against your will... if you want to join me, you know where to find me" I told them and with that I left my room. I'll be honest, I hope my team decides to come along with me... I don't think I would be able to do this without them

Author's Note: So good, bad or so-so? Anyway here is the first chapter of my Mystery Dungeon AU story. As seen their are some elements of Mission Impossible involved, which I really wanted to include here, especially after I got the idea while playing the latest Mystery Dungeon game
