The Legend Of A Hero
A/N: I read a story where Puck, Jake, Santana, Kurt, and Blaine were living in a compound during a Zombie Apocalypse. My story is like that one, but it's more like a prequel to the movie I Am Legend. That is about a Vampire Apocalypse. Puck was gay in the story I read, but he is straight in mine. Anyway, I know there are still Mark Salling fans reading my stories. Just know you are the reason I haven't given up on writing. I get that some of my stories are not finished or need work. I don't know where to go with them, but I don't want to abandon them yet. Well, on to the story.
Disclaimer: I never owned Glee
Chapter 1: Protecting His Friends
It was half an hour until sunrise on Friday, August 5, 2022. Noah Puckerman was standing guard in a lookout tower with Santana Lopez, his half-brother Jake, and Dave Karofsky at an abandoned Army compound. Then Noah spots two figures running up to the gate. As they get closer, he can see two men with a child. The closer they got, the more he knew this was Kurt Anderson, his partner Blaine, and their daughter Tracy. Then Noah shouted to Sam Evans, "Sam, open the doors! Kurt and Blaine are coming! Hurry!"
As Sam opened the doors, Noah and the others used crossbows to fire arrows with firebombs at a group of vampires heading their way. Soon the sun rose, and the vampires turned to ash within seconds. Noah went to check on Kurt and Blaine as his Air Force buddy John J. Rambo the third, took his place. As he runs down the stairs, he hears Tracy screaming, "I want Nono!" repeatedly.
Soon he was in the Military Treatment Facility or MTF on the compound and held Tracy on his lap as Kurt said, "Dad had a friend in the military stationed here, and I remembered him telling you about it when this started. I used my iPhone to find you, and Carole was with us until two hours ago." Noah soon takes Kurt to another bed, where he sees Carole asleep, missing half her left arm.
Noah pets her head as he says, "We had to cut it off to save her. Jake killed the vampire that chased her here. I think he was the one that bit her. This morning, Santana saw the son of a bitch chasing her on an ATV around two."
Noah then takes Kurt back to Tracy as he says, "I was here alone for five months before my buddy Johnny arrived. After a month, the others showed up here. We have killed thousands of vampires in the last seven months."
Then he looks away, getting choked up as he says, "I had to kill Quinn and Rachel a month ago."
Soon they were in the mess hall having breakfast, and Noah laughed at how Tracy was devouring hers. While eating, Tracy stopped and said, "What? They forced me to eat stinky bread for four days!" Then she got back to eating.
Kurt sighs and tells Noah, "It was garlic bread. She doesn't like the smell of garlic, and the vampires are after her. I guess they were homophobes and thought she shouldn't need to be with us."
Soon Sam, who watched Carole, ran in and said to Noah, "Mrs. H is awake and asked for you!"
Noah soon picked up Tracy, then Kurt and Blaine followed Noah to where Carole was in the MTF. Carole looks at Tracy as she says, "Puck, save the children. They are only after her because she will take your place as the leader here. The vampire that attacked me was a psychic. More is coming for her. I dreamt that you were the last adult left with the children. She will win, Puck. Do you understand me? She will win, and you need to train her now!" Soon Stacie Young, a nurse on the compound, gave Carole something to help her rest.
Noah looks at Tracy, and she whispers, "I want to say something to my dada right now." Then they hear Kurt freaking out.
Noah chuckles as he heads to the gym with Tracy and says, "Same here, Tracy."
As Tracy uses a two-pound dumbbell, she says, "I'm so glad those mean vampires aren't like the mean ones in the movie Twilight and can't attack us during the day. They all know about you and are trying to find your weakness."
That night, they had supper early, and Noah helped Carole cut up her food. As they ate, Carole said, "Puck, I still can sense when the vampires are near and hear their thoughts. They know the doctors here are working on a cure. It's in your blood, Puck. Do you hear me?"
Noah shows Carole a band-aid on his arm as he says, "I figured that out when this started. I had to figure out how to draw my blood before the medics came here. I donated more of my blood to save you. I know I sacrificed myself to save Tracy. I have the same dreams, Mrs. H."
Then Noah says to Kurt, "I am not the only one who sacrificed myself, and Blaine was the last adult in my dreams. I'm not telling you how you died, but I will tell you, you did it in pure Kurt Hummel style. Now, don't make me say it, Kurt."
As soon as Tracy went to bed, Noah, Carole, Santana, and Sam were on guard. Then, after sunset, three couples came running out of the woods. One couple was friends of Noah's, Eric Johnson, and his wife, Christy. Christy was carrying a baby boy that Noah learned was General Young's grandson, James Capillary.
Noah held James in his arms as he thought of his unborn son and whispered, "I will do all I can to keep you safe, but you have to do me a favor and grow up to be everything Tracy wants in a boyfriend. She might be my niece, but she is a fighter like me."
Later, Noah stood by Carole and said, "Quinn was pregnant with a boy. I couldn't save him. We were going to name him Burt Finn Puckerman. Rachel was pregnant with her second child. It was a son too. I had to cut their babies out of them. Rachel's baby is in the MTF, and I named him Jesse St. James Jr. His blood has helped cure people too. We have the same blood type. When Kurt arrived, Little Jesse was acting as you did. So, you are not the only one that can sense vampires."
Before Noah could say another word, Carole looked into the distance and said, "They are coming." In a monotone voice.
For the next three hours, Noah, Santana, Sam, Jake, and twenty-one other men shot flaming arrows at over a thousand vampires or threw grenades at them until they were piles of dust. It happened two more times that night, and after the last attack, they were almost out of ammo. Then Santana said, "Damn, we will have to do some scavenging again."
Then, as the sun rises, twenty army trucks head for the compound. As the first one pulls up, a man gets out and yells, "Puckerman, are you here?"
And Noah yells, "Yeah, hey, Sergeant Reynolds, long time no see! Hang on, and I'll let you in."
Then he turned around and yelled at John, "Open the doors, man!"
Soon Noah and Sergeant Todd Reynolds were helping the other soldiers as they stored the new ammo and guns Todd had just brought. Then Todd said, "Mike thought you might head here when this started. I hope this is enough to last you for a while. I hope my men can give you a break, Puckerman. You look like you haven't slept in days."
Noah sighs and says, "Before Mr. H's granddaughter, Tracy, arrived with her parents, I had nightmares about dying. My blood is the cure, and all those assholes out there know it! That's why they headed here and why we ran out of ammo before you pulled up."
Todd follows Noah up to the watchtower and says, "One of my men was among the vampires you killed before we got here. We were following him and almost got attacked on the way here. Puckerman, I lost my entire family because of those sons of bitches. I will help you end this in any way I can."
Noah chuckles as he says, "You helped me a lot today, Sarge."
Todd looks out into the forest and says, "Call me, Todd, Puck. I mean, you're in charge here, not me."
As soon as they get to the top of the tower, Noah explains, "I was alone for six months before the others arrived. I haven't slept for more than half an hour without hearing those assholes' screams. The assholes are after us because Tracy becomes the leader of the children who survive and defeat them. I hope coming here will increase our chances of winning."
Soon four more families arrived by noon, and Noah was napping with Tracy. Noah and Tracy slept through lunch, and when they awoke, they were starving. As Tracy ate, Noah stared at her. Tracy glares at him and yells, "Nono, stop staring at me! I'm not your daughter, and you know you will be Grandpa Burt's age when you die! Now, eat up, and let Sergeant Reynolds handle things!"
Blaine soon comes up to them and explains, "Puck, since we got here, you have become like a third father for Tracy. She might not be your daughter, but I can tell you love her like one."
Noah looks at Tracy as he says, "Man, Blaine, I know Tracy is your daughter, but I feel like I have to protect her so she can end this." The men look at Tracy as she eats before Noah hears over his newly acquired walkie-talkie Todd gave him that more people have arrived.
A month after Todd and the other soldiers arrived at the compound, there were over four thousand people and fifty children, counting Tracy. Tracy was the only girl, yet boys as old as fifteen respected her and listened to anything she said. One boy that arrived, Jason Miller, would act as Tracy's second in command and help Noah at the watchtower.
One day, Todd asked Jason, "Why do you listen to Tracy? She's two, and you are fifteen."
Jason looks at Tracy as she plays with the other boys and says, "I keep having dreams about a girl named Tracy, but in my dreams, she's an adult. I heard about Puck's dreams. All I can say is that he is wrong. Tracy's dad saves them, and Puck tries to stop him."
Later that day, Noah and Santana joined Todd and Jason on the watchtower. Then Jason says, "Puck, Kurt dies, but you don't."
Noah looks at Santana as he says, "I know, so does Mrs. H. She told me after Todd and the other soldiers arrived. I stopped having dreams last week, and Tracy stays with me because her nightmares are more severe. She told me that the vampires tricked Mrs. H into leaving the compound." Then they heard Tracy scream, and before the others could move, Noah was racing down the stairs.
When he got to his bed, Tracy was still screaming. As Noah held her, she said, "Grandpa Burt's coming!" repeatedly. Carole and Kurt came in to ask Tracy what she meant, but Noah wouldn't let them talk to her. However, what neither of them knew was that they would get their answer soon, and Carole would die.
A month later, at sunset. Noah saw Burt leading other vampires to the compound. He has Sam keep Carole and Kurt away from the watch tower before he walks out alone with a flamethrower. Then Noah says, "Well, it looks like the tables have turned, Mr. H, now you are the bully, and I am the one protecting my family."
Burt says nothing and lunges at Noah before he sets Burt on fire with the flamethrower. Then the others start shooting flaming arrows at the other vampires as Noah uses the flamethrower on the vampires trying to get to him.
When Noah returned to the compound, he ran straight to Tracy, who was asleep in his bed, and broke down as he held her. As Noah calmed down, he said to Kurt, "If I hadn't killed him, Mrs. H might be dead right now." The others didn't know what to say, so they left him alone with Tracy.
A week later, Carole was attacked and died as Santana held her in her arms. Then that night, Noah, Sam, John, and Todd were standing guard. Soon, they heard Tracy say, "Nono?"
Noah turns around and hands his crossbow to Todd as he says, "Hey, squirt, why are you up?"
As he picks her up, she says, "I dreamed about Grandpa Pat and Grandma Patty leading more vampires here. They died the day we came, and I thought they were coming here with Grandpa Burt. I think Dada Kurt will be on their side soon."
Then they heard Sam yell, "Kurt, man, what are you doing?" Noah looks down and sees Kurt in a tuxedo holding a flamethrower as Jason holds Blaine back.
Noah gives Tracy to Sam, who runs down the stairs as over a thousand vampires head their way. Then Noah leaps from the watchtower with his crossbow in hand as Santana drags Kurt back into the compound.
The vampires stop five feet from the compound, and Noah approaches them as they back away from him. Then Blaine's parents approach Noah and say, "Give us Tracy, and we'll back off."
Noah glares at them and says, "Go ahead, come and get her. I dare you." Then he aimed his crossbow at Patricia's head. Before the vampires could even move, Noah shot Patricia and Patrick at once. Soon, Noah and the others were shooting flaming arrows for the next two hours until they were all wiped out.
Then Noah stormed back in and yelled, "I am not about to let Tracy grow up to be an orphan, Kurt! Do your job and be the dad she needs. I am not her dad, Kurt, but I love her as much as you do! God, Kurt, I killed Beth and my son the day I saved Jesse Jr! I killed my flesh and blood!"
Noah screams a guttural roar as he falls to his knees and says, "I slaughtered my dad, Kurt. He was the first vampire I killed when I got here. He killed Sarah and my mom and is the reason my nightmares started. Kurt, you save Tracy again when she is an adult. All I can say is your other bullies come here to destroy us."
He looks at Blaine as he talks with Jason and says, "I had dreams about Tracy marrying Jason. At first, I thought the guy in my dreams might be one of Tracy's new friends. Jason won't tell me what led him here, and the guys around here have been making Twilight jokes since he told Todd about his dreams."
Kurt chuckles and says, "Jason is Tracy's person, Puck, and if you're dreaming about their wedding, my question is..."
Jake pokes Kurt in the elbow and asks, "Do you hear the song A Thousand Years in your dreams?"
Noah watches Jason as he heads to the bunkhouse where Tracy slept and says, "Yeah, but Marley isn't singing the song. It sounds like a younger version of Rachel." Kurt glares at Noah, but says nothing.
Three days later, Noah, Tracy, and Jason start hearing a voice in their heads, saying, "I found you." repeatedly. Noah knew who it was and prayed Tracy wouldn't tell the others the truth about Rachel.
Chapter 2 should be up soon. I know it's short, okay?
