Her Courage, His Wrath: Operation Moonfall
By: Lovely girl 10
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the story.
For those of you who are familiar with the original, there will be some changes in the remake. Here is the list: 1. There will be more detail in the story, a lot more descriptive than the original. 2. Oni Link's name will be changed to Kishin in this version of the story. 3. I am going to do my best to reference the Fierce Deity's attacks from Hyrule Warriors into Majora's Mask. 4. I will explore a bit of the 20 masks we are supposed to collect before getting the Fierce Deity's Mask at the end of the game.
Operation Moonfall was used as a code in honor of the Majora's Mask 3D remake, so I thought I could incorporate that here. I hope you readers don't mind. Enjoy the new remade story!
Chapter 1- She leaves. He waits.
Hyrule, the land that my sisters and I have created so long ago from the red earth. It almost feels like yesterday when we first came into this world and shaped it into what it is. I still remember when I first came into existence from a whirlwind of leaves alongside with the warmth of my sisters flames when the earth turned red. I admit that at first I was confused about my purpose from the whirlwind that brought me to life, but when I heard the crackling sounds of the fire glowing in the darkness I drew myself over to it, wondering why I was alone with just the elements as my company. The fire wasn't the only thing with me as I hear the distant sounds of water crashing into the earth as well and the earth itself felt warm on my feet.
The next thing I noticed was the shadow silhouettes of three women, one of different colored hairs; red, blue, and yellow. The red woman had flames crawling up her arms and legs, her eyes burning bright as the fire, long cascading red hair in a ponytail and a fiery dress. The blue woman looked serene, her dark blue hair and dress almost blends with the water itself, her eyes shine like sapphire pearls down in the depths of the sea. The yellow woman oddly has a white gown while she had golden sunshine in her hair, sky blue eyes and purple bracelets on her wrists and purple sandals.
"Hello sister!" The red haired woman greets me warmly as she takes my hand and leads me to join the others. "You took quite a while to wake up from your slumber, but now that you are awake, we can get started with creating our land."
"Allow us to introduce ourselves sister. The eldest of us is Din who created us from the earth, water and air. She is the Goddess of Power. You may call me Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom," The blue haired woman, Nayru introduces herself to me, gesturing with her hands. "And the youngest of us is Hylia, the Goddess of the Skies." Nayru gestures to the yellow haired maiden next to her.
Utterly fascinated with the women, I didn't know what to ask them first for my questions. All I know is that I am positively happy to find out that I have someone to be with me and show me what I am here on this earth for. To think I have three Goddess sisters as my family! "Who am I in this family?" I asked curiously at the time.
"You will be…" Din clasps her chin in a thinking mood as she settles me down on her left side while Nayru is on her right. "…Farore, the second born of the Golden Goddesses and the Goddess of Courage."
That was how I came to be as one of the Golden Goddesses in my origin. For many eons I have watched over everything that happens in Hyrule from its start. All of the wars, all of the strife and struggle to have good triumph over evil. The Hylians who worship us call us the most powerful beings on earth.
After we created the Triforce as our last gift for Hyrule, we made our home in the Sacred Realm to watch the world we had created to be sure that everything is in order. Din kneels down on her incredibly long legs and watches over the landscapes she created from her own hands to make sure every place and every creature were doing all right. Although I never knew how she became a powerful goddess in the first place but I do know that if you manage to make her mad her whole body bursts as if she was a huge flame that is threatening to destroy you with just a simple touch. She would even go as far as to silence the people who don't respect us and try to destroy us. I still look up to her as my teacher since she helped guide me on my skills.
Nayru holds her hands in an eager way as she keeps watch to make sure the laws of Hyrule are in order. The Hylians sometimes tried to picture her to be either a scholar or if she looks like a royal princess. But they are quite mistaken for their beliefs. She goes in between when she wears a dress and holds a book in her hands. The third born of our family. Whenever I needed help with something or I don't understand what to do on a dilemma, I go to her and she provides me a solution to the problem.
I have been told that I am known for my color of green. I was given that color to symbolize the life that I give to my people who follow and uphold Nayru's laws. While I am the Goddess of Courage I can also control wind, despite my affinity to create life which is supposed to be represented by the earth element. I still don't know the reason why Din has me with wind and Hylia has earth when Hylia is known as the Goddess of the Skies when she saved the humans by sending a crop of rock to the sky, but I have my suspicions that my older sister wanted to switch things up and do something different.
Many Hylians have lately figured out that Link, the chosen hero of Hyrule is connected to my power of Courage ever since he went seven years into the future, thanks to the careless actions of the Gerudo Thief turned King of Evil Ganondorf who split our Sacred relic and only managed to grab the Triforce of Power, leaving Link to acquire my piece of the Triforce and the Princess of Hyrule with Nayru's piece.
To say I am pleased with him for his bravery to save the world from darkness is an understatement. Hylia once told me long ago in one of her prophesies that I would be paired with one who matches me in courage, determination, and selflessness. From solving the temples, awakening the sages and stopping Ganondorf in his tracks, Link has successfully saved the future of Hyrule and its princess.
Or… dare I say, temporarily saved Hyrule from a horrible fate? Even though Link presumes that Hyrule is safe now seven years into the future, he doesn't know that he will be leaving that timeline without a hero. He may not know of Hyrule's fate, but I do unfortunately.
As the princess of Hyrule sends him back to his childhood, back before Ganondorf even tries to do anything to the kingdom, she irrevocably split the timelines into three. One for when Ganondorf seized Hyrule castle and then Link defeats him successfully or what us Goddesses call it the Adult timeline. One for when my chosen failed to defeat Ganondorf, leading Princess Zelda and the sages to seal him away; the Defeated timeline. And one for when Link gets sent back as a child before the events took place; the Child timeline.
To keep a better eye on all of the timelines Din splits us up to watch over one of them; Din took charge of the Defeated timeline, Nayru offered to watch over the Adult timeline, and I am keeping an eye on the Child timeline.
I personally am not happy about what the princess was doing in sending Link back in time to regain his lost childhood. If I had gotten my hands on her I would have told it to her straight that she is hurting him more than helping him. Because in the adult side of the timeline, her adult self makes sure that he gets to be remembered for his heroic deeds, even getting boys to wear the green tunic on their birthdays when they reach the same age as Link. But in the child side of the timeline, he doesn't get any recognition because his deeds never happened! The peace he fought so hard to obtain no longer existed…
"Farore, Link has to regain his lost childhood. It is the right thing to do for him, plus I made sure to implore him through Zelda to keep Ganondorf from making the mistake that cost Hyrule its prosperous future." Nayru told firmly as she held onto my shoulder with a sympathetic look, trying to comfort me and help me control my anger at her chosen.
Based from her logical explanation, I know that I can't blame the princess for trying to amend a wrong she did to my hero. She only did what she thought was the best course of action. "But she doesn't know the pain she is giving him by sending him back! Why can't his deeds be remembered in the past as well as the future?" I stated with a sigh.
I know that I will not receive an answer to that question. I just felt despair for the terrible fate that Link will be destined to play when he is older once more in the child timeline. How he will be buried in the forest alone and how he will haunt the lands of Hyrule as a golden wolf searching for a way to ease his regrets. I know what we have to prepare for before the Interloper War takes place, so I made it my mission with my sisters help to create four light spirits to watch over Hyrule and step in to deal with the Interlopers when the time comes. Ordona, Eldin, Faron, and Lanayru will be waiting on the sidelines until the Interlopers drop their guard and think they have won the battle when they are being lured into a trap. It wouldn't be the first time we sent out guardian deities to watch over Hyrule in our stead. We did it before with the three dragons who assisted Hylia before she reincarnated as a mortal named Zelda and later organized the Hyrule Royal Family to unify Hyrule. The Great Deku Tree and Jabun are among our biggest helpers in watching over the forests and the lakes.
As we watch the Hyrule castle courtyard in its original glory before Ganondorf decided to destroy it the young 8-year-old princess Zelda was looking in the window and was unaware that the 9-year-old hero, Link, was coming into the courtyard, freshly returned from his trip through time. However, I could see that despite him putting on a confident face, inside I could feel his despair at the loss of his beloved friend before his confrontation with the princess in the Temple of Time.
I could feel through our connection to the Triforce piece that he is currently suffering from four different things in his grief; abandonment, his duty to others, his duty to himself, and lack of identity. She told him to go home back to his original time. But one thing the princess doesn't understand is that Link no longer had a home to go back to. With the knowledge that he isn't a Kokiri but a Hylian and learning that his mother died to protect him from the war, he doesn't know where he belongs and that breaks my heart.
So he returns to her side and tells her of Ganondorf's plot, confirming her prophetic dreams to be true. Warning the king about the attempted takeover and attempted murder with his memories of the future, Link was able to make Ganondorf quake in his boots at the thought of being caught and apprehended, forcing him to flee and hide in the Geurdo Desert. After two years of living with the royal family of Hyrule, befriending the princess and the ranch girl Malon once more, Link did enjoy a bit of the childhood he missed out on, being able to put his mission on hold for those moments. However Ganondorf was a looming threat that had to be stopped at all cost so Link and Zelda came up with a plan to allow Link to possess the Ocarina of Time and keep it away from Ganondorf's reach. Without the treasured item of the Royal Family, Ganondorf won't be able to break into the Sacred Realm again to steal the Triforce. But alongside protecting the Ocarina, Link decided on his own to go on a personal journey to go find Navi. I knew that he would go on another journey sooner or later. Therefore, I planned on going with him to wherever that place was, even if that journey would be in vain. Throughout watching the timelines so far Din has mentioned that a new Link would cross between the Light Realm and the Dark Realm which would greatly help out the hero of Hyrule to defeat the dark beast Ganon. Nayru says she has yet to see what is going on in the Era without a Hero in the adult timeline but she will let us know what is to come when she finds out.
"These timelines are pretty tricky to figure out but I am getting a glimpse into the future of the defeated timeline." Din states as she lists the locations Link will face in that time period. "Holodrum, Labynna, Koholint Island are what I have gotten so far from our link to the timelines."
Nayru looks horrified by what she is witnessing in the timeline she is watching over that she breaks out in tears. "Oh no! Girls, Ganondorf just broke out of the seal and is laying waste to Hyrule. It's horrible to hear the people begging for the hero to come save them when he isn't even there. We have to do something in the adult timeline!"
Din turns to Nayru and comforts her by tapping her little sisters chin with her left pointer finger. "It pains me to say this girls but if Ganondorf really wants to lay Hyrule to ruin then I say he and his minions can drown with it! We will relay our message to the sages and tell everyone to seek shelter high up in the mountains. We will split the Triforces of Wisdom and Courage into pieces and scatter them across the ocean we will bring about in wake of Ganondorf breaking free!"
It pained me to help bring Hyrule Castle in the adult timeline to a watery grave, but the one comfort I have is when the people headed the six sages warnings and headed to the tallest mountains for shelter against the flood. Din even made the mountains grow taller in order to keep the people out of Ganondorf's reach while the rest of the kingdom flooded. I just hope that a new Link will come to put an end to Ganondorf if he dared to cause problems in the adult timeline.
After we did what we could to save the hylians from the flood, Din cursed Ganondorf under her breath. Ever since he stole her Triforce piece in the Sacred Realm, she has never forgiven him and the influence that the Demon King Demise had on his reincarnation. She hoped to give him as much bad luck in the Defeated timeline as well.
Back to watching over the Child Timeline, I could see that the Hero of Time has been wandering around the Lost Woods for quite a long time with Epona beside him on his latest adventure. I began to be concerned for him upon noticing that he is going far from Hyrule. Something about that part of the woods sparked a sense of caution in my bones. "Girls, do you think I should pull Link away from the Lost Woods at this time?" I ask for their advice on what to do. "He is venturing as close to Termina's territory right now."
At the mention of Termina, Din and Nayru's eyes widen in a mixture of fear and surprise. Nayru was the first to cry out in fear. "Yes, I think you should do so Farore! Remember what happened the last time we were there? The Ancient tribe over there tried to exorcise the whole town, swamp, ocean, canyon, and mountains to make sure that we were not welcome in their land."
"That was like two or three centuries ago, Nayru." Din told by a shake of her head at Nayru's suggestion. "I don't think that our enemies are there anymore and the people over there don't remember anything about us."
"But what if they are waiting for us to drop our guard and then kill us? That tribe was willing to do anything in their psychotic minds to destroy anything that looks like a threat to their country and to the Four Giants. Your only hope could be if the Giants took care of the tribe." Nayru said in a panic, hugging me tightly and shivering from the chill in the air.
I can't really blame Nayru for panicking in a situation like this. Ever since Hylia died of her injuries to protect the Triforce, and our escape from the Ancient Tribe in Termina, Nayru has been secretly fearful of any retaliation from other lands.
"But what if that tribe has moved on to another land?" I ask Nayru, trying to help her ease up on squishing me around my waist. "What if they are no longer in Termina and that it is safe to venture back in that land for a visit? We were fine with visiting over there before the Ancient Tribe came into the picture."
"Easy for you to say Farore! You are more of a daredevil goddess than the rest of us." Nayru replies. "While Din has physical and magical powers and I have my wisdom for physical, mental and emotional situations, you are the one blessed with a need to venture into anything that we don't usually dare step foot in. You wanted to go back to Termina since day 1 after we fled from that place!" I blush in embarrassment at the comment.
Din interrupts with a wave of her flaming right hand. "Farore might have a point Nayru. She is more battle inclined to handle being in a different land after all of these years. Why not let her have our permission to go see if Termina is alright to visit now?"
I smile at Din, happy that she trusts me to go check out Termina and see if it is safe. With Link venturing further into the Lost Woods, I changed from my golden goddess form to a green fairy with a gold glow. Whenever we Goddesses wanted to check on the world, we disguise ourselves in the form of fairies. Din is usually seen as a red fairy with a gold glow, Nayru with the blue, and I with the green. We are camouflaged from even the sharpest eyes of our creations eye as they go on about their lives while not realizing that we are watching their every move. And right now I have to catch up with my chosen and keep an eye on him while he is busy doing some soul searching for himself on his journey. I fly as fast as I can to fly right next to him and rest on his green hat.
I hear him mulling over his questions while riding Epona. "Navi…" He quivers and I can tell that his lips are trembling in sadness. "…Why did you leave me? Why do you not stay with me?" I ever so much wanted to tell him in his heart about what I have seen in Navi during that time before she left, but I keep it to myself even if it would hurt him in the end. I don't want to burden him with more than he can handle, he already had enough on his plate.
I don't want to be the one to tell him simply that Navi fulfilled her purpose and then she faded away as soon as she fled to the window in the Temple of Time, trying to prevent him from seeing her dying in front of him. Link wouldn't have believed this truth even if I choose to tell him. He needs to figure it out on his own and deal with the grief he is feeling from his abandonment.
He whispers again to himself, "What is my purpose here?" I was about to answer him but then close my mouth. He will always be known as the Hero of Time in the Adult Timeline, but in the Child Timeline it's like someone put a mask on his face to hide who he really is from the whole world. As a kid raised in the Kokiri Forest, Link has always dreamt of leaving the forest and slaying monsters, that part excited him in wanting to become an adventurer. However, he didn't realize until he was sealed away in the Temple of Time that his job was more than slaying monsters… He had to be strong in body, mind and spirit, not just rely on being physically strong. He kept fighting and putting others well beings before his own and I don't like how this duty to others is getting to him. Why did Hylia have to give Link this heavy burden of being her hero knowing what he is going through? I wish I could take his pain away with a flick of my hand, but one of the rules Din told me about having a connection with the Triforce was that we Goddesses can use our power to help our chosen in their time of need, however we can't kill anyone for them not unless they wish it on the Triforce when its together and we can't bring people back from the dead in the same manner. We can however try to work around the dangers that our chosen bearers of the Triforce will face but we have to be careful when we go to a different land.
"Where do I belong?" Link's question causes Epona to snort in response, making the small horse turn to him in reassurance. This growing anxiety is going to drive the boy crazy with how messed up this situation is to him. Even though he befriended Malon and the princess, they don't hold the same memories he had of them in the adult timeline. He feels like he doesn't have a home to go back to and the anxiety is slowly eating him alive.
While in his stupor he stumbles into a deeper section of the Lost Woods, when all of a sudden Epona got startled by two fairies, one pale gold and the other dark purple, giving her a scare. Epona rears up her two front legs in fright and makes Link scream and stumble off of her back, flipping backwards and knocked to the ground unconscious. I hung onto his hat while all of this happened, taking a glimpse of the two perpetrators who caused this trouble in the first place.
But then from the shadows I could feel another presence joining the two fairies. Feeling uncomfortable but bracing for the encounter, I put my left hand over Link's head, using my power to shield him from any sort of attack. From the shadows came a heart shaped face with two spikes on top of its head, and four colorful spikes on each side of its cheeks. I could see hints of red, green and blue on the bottom spikes. I wasn't impressed with the mixtures of orange, purple and red which covered the face. The eyes however almost made me shiver in the cold, but I grit my teeth and stand my ground in those green eyes with a mix of yellow and orange on the outer layer. Something about that face doesn't feel right as I feel its stare gazing into my very being. But then I see the face swaying from side to side in a teasing fashion and I could see the familiar figure of the Skullkid, his red straw hat and straw clothing gave him away in the dark forest.
Skullkid flips the mask up to see what's in front of him as he tells the two fairies next to him. "Hee, hee. You two fairies did great! I wonder if he has anything good on him… Huh? This guy… Well, that shouldn't be a problem." He flips the mask back down and slowly walks over to Link's unconscious body.
I fly away from Link's hat for a moment before the Skullkid touches his foot on Link's shield, to see if he will wake up, but with him unconscious Skullkid then flips him over. He appeared to be crouching down on top of my chosen looking for something until he pulls out… NO! If I were you Skullkid I wouldn't be playing with the Ocarina of Time! I fly back to Link once it was safe and I try to call out to his mind. "Get up Link! Are you just going to let the Skullkid take what you are trying to protect!? Wake up!" Thankfully he rouses from unconsciousness and slaps the side of his head. I can feel he didn't like what had just happened as he starts to open his eyes and see the Skullkid playing with the Ocarina. Slowly he rises up from the ground, his face held a dark look like he is not in the mood to play any games.
The two fairies noticed Link watching them, alerting the Skullkid to stop playing as the perpetrator slowly turns around, jumping in shock before hiding the Ocarina behind his back. Link was not fooled as he takes one step back and raises his arms up in an attempt to grab the Skullkid… Only to…miss? Skullkid was not supposed to jump that high! He reappeared on top of Epona, making her rear her legs to start running. No! Don't steal the horse too! Luckily Link knew what I was thinking and jumps toward Skullkid's legs, making him barely hang onto the side of Epona while Link was being dragged on the ground.
For about a minute as we traveled deeper into the forest, I could feel that we are getting dangerously close to the tip of entering Termina's territory. I could feel a bit of my power waning as I feel the Four Giant's power and control over their domain coursing through me. I don't know whether this is welcoming or not, but something is off about this presence. I can't put my finger on it.
Link couldn't hold onto Epona and the Skullkid anymore as the horse took a sharp turn around a tree stump and he collapses to the ground once more from the force of the swing. The yellow fairy stopped for a moment before catching up to the escaping party through the tunnel with Skullkid laughing. Do those fairies even care about what Link must be feeling after their little stunt?
Once more I try to rouse Link from within his mind, "Get up Link! Don't lose sight of them!" Luckily it didn't take long for him to rise back up from the ground, although bruised up from the fall he had that look of determination on his face as he follows after the Skullkid.
I follow as Link jumps across numerous tree stumps that lead up to another tunnel in the tree. Termina's presence is getting stronger. I am half tempted to just venture cautiously into the tunnel but I can't ignore this strange chill on the back of my neck making me feel that I should make Link turn back and save himself the trouble.
This chill I have about Termina is so unfamiliar to me. It wasn't like this centuries ago when my sisters and I first met the Four Giants. Something is seriously wrong and I can't identify the cause of this unwelcome feeling.
While I was busy with my thoughts I failed to notice the dead end of the tunnel, a cliff that leads downward to the underground catacombs of the tunnel from Hyrule to Termina. Link barely saw the dead end and despite trying to stop in his tracks to balance himself on the edge, he lost his footing and fell down screaming in shock.
Series of faces and items swirled around Link as he fell. Some of them I could decipher as the Ocarina of Time, a Zora, a Deku Scrub, a clock, a Goron, the mask that Skullkid had is in there too, but the rest I couldn't identify. What was the purpose of those images? I wish that I knew, but I can't, at least not until the Giants explain what they mean.
When it felt like Link was going to fall forever he landed roughly on his bottom on a soft flower. He stands up and looks down at the flower as if in surprise that he didn't die from the fall. But then a bright light makes him shield his eyes. The Skullkid along with the fairies was floating in the center of the lights with strange shapes circling around him, levitating with his legs and arms crossed to the side. Under that darkness the eyes of the mask are glowing and with it an unfamiliar aura that is trying to make me feel sick to my stomach.
"What's with that stupid horse of yours?! It doesn't listen to a word that's said to it…" Skullkid laughs while Link adjusted to the light. "There's no point in riding a thing like that, so I did you a favor and got rid of it… Hee hee…"
"What did you just say!?" Link twitches his eyes in anger as he stands up straight. He sounded like he was trying to keep it together, but he is about ready to snap at Skullkid. "Epona is not a toy you can throw away at will! The Ocarina you have is not a toy either!"
Skullkid, not fazed by Link's statement taunts him. "Aww boo hoo. Why the sad face? I just thought I'd have some fun with you.." Not to be that kind of kill joy, but I would have to disagree and say that what he did was not in the description of 'fun'. "Oh come now… Do you really think you can beat me as I am now? Fool!"
That was when the mask started shaking left and right rapidly like a maraca. The sound echoed through the cave.
I wince and shield my eyes as the dark aura surrounded Link, making his body shake and convulse in pain. Once the light dims I take a peek to know what exactly happened to him and my worst fear was brought to light as my mouth gave a small gasp. Link…was turned… Into a Deku Scrub! 'NOOOO!' I shout through the wind and reach my hands out to him.
I don't understand why the Skullkid thought it would be a good idea to turn Link into a Deku Scrub. What was wrong with that child?! I watch silently as Link relaxes from the convulsing pain and looks around, noticing that his original form as a Hylian was taken away from him. He gasps in shock and he shakes his head, trying to wake up from this nightmare he was in but realizing it was real.
The Skullkid had the audacity to laugh. "Now that's a good look for you! You will stay here looking that way forever!"
I growl in fury and hit the ground with full force to control my rage. The way the Skullkid insulted my hero, my child, my chosen bearer of the Triforce, like he thought that he was the boss of him. 'And here I thought that Demise's Incarnation; Ganondorf was bad enough!' I thought to myself as I watch with fury still burning in my eyes, the laughing Skullkid floated away from the scene with the purple fairy. Whereas the yellow fairy decided to make sure that Link knew his place by hitting him in the head when he tried to run right at Skullkid, completely distracted from when the purple fairy called out to her. "S-Sis!" And it was done. From the vibration of my hitting the ground, I actually made the door slam right in front of the fairy.
The yellow fairy broke her attention away from Link and she dings in response to the door being slammed shut. She flies to the door, begging for her brother and the Skullkid to wait for her. She tried to fly through the door but knew that it was no use, so she turned to Link and yelled accusingly. "YOU! If I didn't have to deal with you, I wouldn't have gotten separated from my brother!" She flew right beside him as he got himself up from the ground and stared at her in confusion. The fairy ordered Link to open the door for her so that she could follow where her friends have gone.
I silently thought that the fairy would be leading Link to his demise, but I ignored it and followed my hero as he opens the door. To no avail for the fairy, her friends weren't on the other side of the door anymore. I narrow my eyes and led the way for my chosen one. If I had my way, I would have loved to break the Skullkid's neck back in Hyrule and make him suffer for what he did. But since that I am in Termina, something tells me to hold off and wait for another opportunity.
Before Link could get any farther through the tunnel, the fairy stopped him in his tracks. I was about ready to strike the fairy, but I stopped after I heard the very word that got Link to forgive her for her actions. "So, uh, that stuff back there. I apologize... So take me with you!" She begged him and floated right by him, introducing herself as Tatl.
I felt sorry for my chosen when he tried to get use to his new Deku form. 'At least he is still alive'. In my golden form, I whispered to him in his mind coaxing him to not be discouraged as I send him some of my courage. "Be strong Link. You won't stay that way forever. There is a way to get around this." I know that Link would get through this, even in his new form he was cursed with; all he had to do was get his revenge on the Skullkid, who by now would be in Termina somewhere.
I continued to watch Link as he went through the tunnel with his new partner Tatl, who agreed to help him until they catch the Skullkid. Upon what appears to be the end of the tunnel they spot a tree that looked a bit disturbing. Tatl mentions to Link passing by it, "It's strange. The way you look now, sort of reminds me of this tree. It looks like it could cry any second now. How sad." I won't deny that she is right. The tree kind of does resemble Link's new Deku form. I couldn't help but feel sad for the poor thing. Link finally resumes walking and arrives at the base of what appears to be a clock-tower. He traveled upstairs as he ran across the ramp upstairs. As he was going to open the door to Termina he suddenly stops when he hears someone call from behind him. "You have met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" I was shocked when the Happy Mask Salesman appeared right behind Link.
It made me want to chuckle in joy that the Mask Salesman offered to help Link get back normal by retrieving the ocarina in exchange for a mask that the Skullkid stole from him; with this in mind Link opens the door and looks around a bustling town. Holy fire, wind, and water! Termina looks bigger than it was a century ago!
XXXX
(Kishin)
The fields of Termina were quiet… Too quiet for my liking… The wind softly blows the leaves on the ground as I search around the Southern Swamp for my enemy. Kishin is my name, and bringing destruction to the enemy is my game, but the people of Termina know me as the Fierce Deity, though they don't talk about me as often as they do with the Four Giants.
I am not only the Deity of War as I have a specialty with Death and of the Moon, with no mercy for the sinful if they cross my path. With armor that covers my strong and broad chest, hair pale as the snow, a helix sword that spirals back and forth as it merged to a sharp point at the top, and the most distinguishable part of me that most people fear above all else is my pupil-less white eyes that seem to look straight into your soul. I used to have bright ruby eyes before my curse took over and rendered me helpless.
I had been waiting to bring karma to my most hated enemy in Termina. Not many legends spoke of my rivalry with the demon known as Majora. They mostly spoke of how the Four Giants, my creators, banished him. All I wanted to do for that moment was to see Majora suffer for what he has done to my country.
Whether it is Dekus, Gorons, Zoras, or the Terminians, Majora, the unhinged lunatic, wanted to see the world burn in flames. I mentally thought that my rival's plan was impossible, until Majora started to put his plan into action. I didn't see it coming until it was too late.
Ikana Canyon to the east of Termina became deserted in the years of drought. The Poes, Redeads, Gibdos and the Stalchildren began to inhabit the wasteland. Death roamed nonstop and refuses to let the souls lost in the war go back to the afterlife. No one, not even the guards of Clocktown, were brave enough to go to the graveyard, to the Stone Tower or to the isolated castle of Ikana alone. And if you remain there for too long, you become one of them. This is a fate worse than death, to be enslaved to the dark magic infecting the Stone Tower Temple. What made me watch with sorrow was the fate of a researcher who lost his mind to the Gibdo curse and his little daughter is busy locking her father in a coffin and keeping the doors and windows closed from the monsters trying to break in. A thief relishing the idea of stealing a precious wedding mask from his victim was just as cruel to watch.
Great Bay Ocean to the west of Termina became dangerous for fishermen and the Zoras alike. The windstorms on the water would not cease for anyone, not even the fearsome Gerudo pirates can get through to the temple though it doesn't stop them from trying in their futile attempts to steal treasure. The aquatic enemies began to inhabit the waters, making it difficult for anyone to get somewhere without getting bitten or electrocuted. A Zora warrior tried his best to save his girlfriends baby eggs before being severely injured and left to die in the water.
Snowhead Mountain to the north of Termina changed from spring to a freezing winter like no other. The Gorons immediately took shelter in their houses to escape the cold temperatures, barely surviving on their ration of food. Just now they discovered the dead body of their cherished hero and buried him in the Goron graveyard, and their patriarch is frozen solid on the icy pond. Majora thought that it would be fun to see them suffer; I thought that it was cold-blooded of him to do that to a well-respected race. But there is nothing I can do for them with this curse blocking me from helping them.
From the south of Termina, the Southern Swamp was infested with dark creatures big and small with the fresh water turning into poison that could even kill an ordinary human very slowly. Even the Deku's became afraid to leave their sanctuaries. A monkey being blamed for the kidnapping of a princess when he had nothing to do with it. A Deku Butler worried for the disappearance of his son. A man cursed as a Skulltula for his greed hidden in the spider house.
Moreover, Clocktown itself was going to be plummeted by a horror that nobody would ever think possible for a weapon of destruction; the moon. The one place I called my home to watch over the people. Majora once said that the moon was a very acceptable weapon to use instead of hypnotizing a person and have them either kill themselves or killing another out of his amusement.
When I figured out what was going on, I tried my best to stop Majora from doing any more damage to the land that the Four Giants created. That was before he was imprisoned in a mask by the Four Giants and before Majora himself cursed me into the same situation, all because of Majora's unhinged plan for world destruction. My mask now lies lifelessly inside of the moon waiting to be worn like any regular mask, but it is not any ordinary mask, mine is more powerful than even Majora could ever hope to imagine. As long as the mask stayed where it was, I can't go help Termina with my power, not until my mask is released from the moon. That was my curse, to forever watch helplessly while Majora uses Termina like it was his little playground for destruction before finishing them off for good. My power may be sealed in the mask, but I can still use my spirit to travel outside of the moon like a ghost, forever to wander in search of a way to save my country when all hope has turned into despair and grief.
'I should have stopped him from the start.' I thought to myself as I ran my fingers through my white hair. I looked up in the sky to see the moon that towered over the poor, defenseless town. It's face even made my gorge rise. Oh, how I wished for the moon to be destroyed or at least taken away from its destructive path! But I knew that if I did it, I would be destroyed along with it.
It didn't occur to me that the Skullkid found the evil mask that contained the evil mind of Majora himself. After wearing it for a few minutes, Majora's aura possessed the Skullkid and hypnotized him to do his bidding. With a snap of his fingers, the Skullkid disappeared back into the forest a second later. I stayed on the log to avoid being seen by him, helplessly waiting with anticipation to destroy the mask when the kid wasn't looking. However, I knew that Majora knew better to give himself up to me. He rather likes it when it is a game of 'cat and mouse', with him being the feline who is chasing a dozen of little mice. The monster keeps taunting me by trying to hand me the keys to my salvation but keeping it away from my reach.
I force my head to look at the ground beneath me and closed my eyes to retrain myself from my basic instinct to fight. I need a miracle to break my bonds and give me the power, wisdom and courage to bring Majora's destruction back full circle toward him. I continue to wait in silence not knowing that deep down inside; I was going to get a miracle, just not in the way I wished.
