Blind

I don't own Prince of Tennis or the literature this is alluding to.

Shishido really never ever liked lit class. Especially with Jiroh up at the front snoring. He knew the teacher knew he was up there sleeping, but he still never did a thing! Any time Shishido wanted to sleep, the crazy old man threw a book at his head.

But it wasn't just the book throwing that made the class so brutal sometimes.

Like, this one guy, Shishido forgot his name because, really, that wasn't the important part. The important part is that the guy up and kills his dad. Then he blinds himself after he marries his mom. Like that's not gross.

And this is all because of his HUGE EGO.

Shishido sighed, writing the technical word for it – hubris. What a stupid word. It sounds like the name of a weirdo's daughter.

The bell rang and Shishido got up to leave.

"Oh, Shishido-kun! If you wouldn't mind, would you let Akutagawa-kun see your notes?"

Shishido stared at the crazy old coot. "He slept through class."

"Well, yes. But he'll need the notes."

"But he SLEPT through CLASS."

"Oh, just let him see your notes."

"Whatever."

Shishido left. Now he was late to practice.

Great.

This is all stupid Jiroh's fault for sleeping in class and needing to see his notes, like he wouldn't get an A on the freakin' test anyway. Stupid Jiroh.

He looked over the notes. Okay, so this guy, whatever his stupid name is – it's impossible to say anyway – is pretty great. Liked by everyone. But he's too damn proud, and that really screws up his life.

"It's about time, Shishido," Atobe drawled.

He glared up. Liked by everyone, sure, but too damn proud.

"That'll be 5 laps for keeping ore-sama waiting. And hurry it up so that we can start practice matches," he sauntered to the courts and started talking down to everyone else. His fall is his ego.

Shishido started running. He thought to himself slowly. It's okay if Atobe's making him run 5 laps.

He's gonna kill his dad later anyway.

"Don't mind, Shishido-san! You'll definitely hit the next one!" Ootori cheered, all smiles and sparkles after he missed a ball.

"Hey, Shishido, do you even know the rules? Hit the ball in the court, would you?" Atobe sighed, since Shishido was playing SO BAD compared to himself.

But Shishido told himself to chill. It's alright because Atobe was gonna grow up to marry his mother.

Ew.

"Shishido! How did you even manage to become a regular? I know you don't give up, but you're really sucking all over ore-sama's courts right now," Atobe nagged.

It's okay, Shishido breathed. It's okay.

Atobe's blind.

It's okay.

"Oh, Shishido, aren't dashes your specialty? Why are you so slow today? Speed it up!" He demanded.

"YOU'RE BLIND – WHAT DO YOU KNOW?!" Shishido yelled as he stormed from the court.

It was referring to Oedipus Rex or the Theban trilogy, if you didn't know. If you don't know what that is...

Well.

If you did get it, I hope you liked it! Please review!
