Author's notes:
Hi, you guys. I just wanted to clarify a few things before you dive into the fanfic, OK?
- Some of the characters may seem a little OoC, compared to their canon portrayals, and I wanna point out that I was treating them as mostly blank canvas. While I kept some of their personalities intact, I still chose to make some of the more "caricature" characters act more real. Examples are characters from TDPI, and fodder characters, who are given no changes.
- On that note, antagonistic characters shall be slightly changed. I'm not saying they'll suddenly develop hearts and not be ruthless during the game, but they'll be shown to be more than simple-minded villains who rue to see others lose.
- A few challenges may be changed, mostly because I don't like how the rules played out. Big examples are 'That's Off the Chain!' and 'Hook, Line, and Screamer', but the challenges will remain mostly intact.
- I've taken the liberty of adding some of the ideas from the canon series, that were only added later on. You'll understand what I mean once the chapters are posted.
- Here are some of the characters that were not considered for this fanfic, with an explanation for each of them being included:
Blaneley: She was more of a joke contestant, and I'm still entertaining the idea of adding her back to the hosting spot at any given point.
Dwayne Sr.: Way too old.
Gerry: Way too old.
Jacques: I really like him and Josee, but they were too old to participate, and their vibes wouldn't collide very well, I fear.
Jen: I... I'm sorry, I just find her and Tom to be very, very boring. I anticipated writing them, so I took them off the roster.
Josee: Same reason as Jacques.
Junior: Still not totally off the roster, but he seems way too young. We'll see.
Kelly: Way too old.
Laurie: I really dislike her and Miles. Sorry.
McArthur: Too old, too.
Mary: She looks like Harold's mother, so she seemed too old.
Miles: :/
Pete: Yeah, too old.
Rock: Spud and he are some of my least favorite characters of RR. Sorry.
Ryan: Too old.
Sanders: She seems to be too old, too. But similar to Junior, I could still write her in.
Spud: :/
Stephanie: She looks too old.
Tom: Same as Jen.
And that's everyone. Anyone who isn't cited is a potential camper, outside of the obvious ones, like Fang, Chef, Chris, Mr. Coconut, etc.
I hope you enjoy it! Criticism is always welcomed!
Episode 1: Not So Happy Campers Pt. 1
A man of average height shot up while the camera panned out at the beautiful scenery, which included vast mountains, a lake, pine trees, and a wooden dock he was, presumably, standing on. With a certain pep in his voice, he proudly announced his role.
"Yo, we're coming at you live from Camp Wawanakwa, somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario! I'm your host Chris McLean." As he said that, he made sure to emphasize his surname, perhaps due to wanting to be recognized. "Dropping Season 1 of the hottest new reality show on television, right now!"
After that claim, the camera panned over to show a full-body shot of him walking by the dock. He was currently wearing olive-colored cargo pants, and a blue button-up shirt with white long sleeves and to finish his look, he wore blue and white shoes and had a little pendant hanging by his neck. Carrying on with his speech, he spoke with a smile on his face:
"Here's the deal: 22 campers have signed up to spend 8 weeks, right here at this crummy old summer camp. They'll compete in challenges against each other, then have to face the judgment of their fellow campers." Chris stopped partway through his monologue. The camera then zoomed in on a close shot of his face. "Every 3 days they will either win a reward or watch one of their team members walk down the Dock of Shame." The aforementioned dock was, expectedly, the one he was standing on. "Take a ride on the loser boat, haha, and leave Total Drama Island for good." The picture of an old beat-up boat appeared hanging from a frame.
The shot changed to a clearing with 12 stumps, 1 bonfire, and 1 barrel standing opposite of the stumps. The host popped up in the frame again, continuing his speech.
"Their fate will be decided here," McLean proclaimed, then proceeded to oversell the concept. "At the dramatic Campfire Ceremonies, where each week all but one camper will receive a marshmallow." After that, the camera showed a bunch of marshmallows on sticks, with Chris grabbing one and eating it. "In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame, and a small fortune, which, let's face it: they'll probably blow it in a week." A small treasure trove appeared in his hand, filled with all kinds of valuable items, as he finished his statement with a raised brow, sardonically mocking the to-be campers.
"To survive, they'll have to battle: black flies, grizzly bears, disgusting camp food, and… each other~'' With each addendum, the shot changed to show the described misfortunes. "Every moment will be caught on one of the hundreds of cameras situated all over the camp." Several cameras in oddly placed positions were shown, ranging from being "fed" by a mother bird, to being silver taped to a totem pole. "Who'll crumb under the pressure? Find out here! Right now, on Total Drama Island!" With each line, the camera zoomed out to show the entire island.
Introduction Song
"Welcome back to Total Drama Island." The next frame showed Chris standing near the camp sign, as he once again began with a pep in his voice, obviously happy to put a start to the show for good. "All right, it's time to meet our first eleven campers. We told them they'd all be staying at this 5-star resort, so if they seem a little bummed out [1], that's probably why."
As soon as he finished saying that, a luxurious yacht boat sped off the frame, leaving a single teenager standing there, with their luggage next to them. She was a short, pudgy white girl. She wore bright pink pants, a green shirt with a knot on its back, and a smaller, lime green corset-like blouse with smiley faces on its front. She also had prominent braces and thick-rimmed glasses, as she styled her short-length brunette hair in a high ponytail.
"Beth! What's up?" Chris called out to the girl. As soon as she heard her name, she ran off towards him, quickly clinging to him.
Beth - The Wannabe
"It's so incredulous to meet you!" She spoke with excitement, despite Chris' claims of disappointed campers. Her actions even put Chris off a touch, with him dusting himself off after she finally let go of him. With a small gasp, she continues. "Wow… You're much shorter in real life…" She spoke with such ease that all the host could do was thank her for the "compliment" as she naively waved at the camera, not picking up on the social cue.
Shortly after, another yacht dropped off a teen, but this time, a guy. Dressed in military-like clothes, he wore dark shorts, with combat boots, and a dark green shirt with its sleeves rolled back in military style. Around his neck, he had dog tags, indicative of his obvious military inclination, paired up with a buzzcut to finish the look.
"And here we have, Brick!" The host introduced the new contestant, who wore a serious yet neutral expression.
As soon as the cameras focused on him, he saluted, most likely as he used to do back in the military. "Brick MacArthur, reporting for duty!" His command both shocked and amused the host, the former due to how rare it is to see someone having such discipline, and the latter due to how fun it'd be to see him squirm at the challenges.
Brick - The Cadet
"Come over here, dude. Hope you enjoy the stay!" Chris mocked him, obviously baiting him.
"Sir, yes, sir! The producers really went all out with the 5 stars resort, huh?" The cadet said with stars in his eyes, clearly not understanding the sarcasm and appreciating the scenery. This, of course, made both Chris and Beth do a double take. Surely he was playing along…?
"Right… yeah…" Chris wasn't sure how to respond to that, so he let Beth and Brick make acquaintances with each other.
"Hi, my name is Beth." The short girl offered her hand to Brick, clearly wanting to make friends with everyone that appeared. "It's nice to meet you!"
"Equally! Hope we can see eye to eye in the competition!" As he shook her hand, she blushed a little, noticing how strong his grip was. "Now, I was not expecting to be the 2nd one here, talk about a surprise."
"Yeah, yeah, you guys can get chummy later. Let me keep introducing the contestants." Chris berated the teens with a slight frown. Way too soon to be really stressed. And right after he said that a yacht dropped another contestant. Another guy, but this one is strikingly different from Brick.
He was overweight and had a nest of blond hair atop his head while wearing comically short green shorts, a white shirt with a teal-colored maple leaf, and green shoes. From his spot, he was bursting with energy and was raring to go introduce himself.
"Owen! Welcome!" Chris said with genuine glee at seeing someone so excited. He knew it was only a matter of time until the sour grapes arrived.
"WOOHOO! Chris, what's happening?! Ahahah, this is awesome! Woohoo!" The blond cheered towards the host, clearly happy at being at the camp. Whether his attitude would remain or not, that's in the air. Chris replied just as excitedly:
Owen - The Funniest Guy Around
Owen came up to Chris and bear-hugged him with such strength you could probably hear his spine pop. "Awesome to be here, man," Owen replied, still holding the shorter one. Chris was, of course, disgruntled from being compressed so tightly. "Man, this is just so… awesome!"
"You about finished?" Chris asked with a slight frown. There's only so much screaming and hugging he can take from smelly teenagers. Owen immediately put him down and apologized, albeit with a happy tone, indicating he was apologizing out of politeness, rather than regret. "Sorry, dude. I'm just so psyched!"
"Yeah, that's good to hear. Why don't you go join the other 2 contestants on the other side of the dock?" He pointed towards the former introduced competitors. "Woohoo!" Owen trotted to Beth and Brick, making sure to shake both of their hands. His enthusiasm was commendable, so they didn't reject his approach. "Nice to meet you both! I'm Owen!"
"Affirmative, cadet! We heard Chris loud and clear, but it's nice to meet you all the same." He shook Owen's hand. After that, the camera panned over to the yacht approaching yet again, but this time carrying not one, but 2 contestants.
Two girls wearing the same outfit, red cheerleaders outfits with white rims, and white boots. Both had medium-length platinum blonde hair and teal-colored eyes. However, one of them possessed a mole on her right cheekbone and was distinguishably more frustrated by the scenery than her twin. Chris quickly jumped to introduce them before anyone else spoke.
"Twins, Amy and Sammy! Hope you ladies had a nice voyage." Chris begun. After the one with the mole - Amy - walked out, she harshly addressed Sammy. "Samey, get our luggage, pronto! Also, don't call her 'Sammy', she prefers to be called 'Samey'." She finished looking at Chris with a malicious smile. At that comment, Sammy looked upon with horror in her eyes and was about to correct her sister, but Amy shot a glare in her direction, so all she could do was grab the luggage and walk towards the remaining contestants.
Amy - The Evil Twin
Sammy - The Good Twin
"Sigh, yes Amy…" She trudged with both of their luggage, while her sister haughtily walked beside her. "And you better not scratch my suitcase, or else I'll use yours!" She shot at Sammy. Seeing the scene, Brick made a movement to go help Sammy bring the suitcases, to which Sammy happily agreed and thanked him for his kindness. All Amy could do was roll her eyes and move along. Whether it was Samey or Brick that carried, she could care less.
As soon as the twins neared the group, Beth immediately offered her hand to Amy and tried to start a relationship on the right foot. "Hi, I'm Beth!" But as she said that, a little bit of her spit flew out from her braces and landed in Amy's arm, to which she physically recoiled.
"EW! Samey, switch sides, now." She sent a scathing look toward Beth and forced Sammy to stand where she used to stay. Beth, nervously, withdrew her hand and recoiled in embarrassment from what happened. "Sorry…"
"It's nice to meet you, Beth," Sammy spoke and smiled at Beth when her sister turned around. At that, Beth and Brick smiled, noticing the difference between the two was clear as a crystal.
Soon after, another yacht dropped another girl onto the dock. She was obviously a goth, wearing white makeup, and a dual-colored wig, with black and white parts to it. She also wore a short blouse and skirt, both wine-colored and interconnected in the waist area, with fishnets, black wedge boots, and a chain working as some sort of belt around her waist. She also had a bat tattoo above her breast area and a choker. She wore a dead neutral expression on her face and showed no sign of changing that anytime soon.
"Crimson, welcome to the world of light. Hope you brought sunscreen!" The host tried teasing her pale complexion, and yet she remained unfazed. She simply picked up her suitcase, walked down the dock, and stood away from the other campers. "Right… I bet you were just dying to be here, hm?" Chris asked with a frown on his face, sarcasm dripping from his voice. Once again, the goth kept staring ahead, ignoring any and all jabs from the host.
Crimson - The Goth
Owen saw the pale girl and decided to introduce himself. While all of the other competitors were keeping their distance, either due to discomfort or out of disinterest, he was always up to making new friends.
"Hey, it's awesome to meet you! My name is Owen!" He practically jumped in excitement, despite her neutral stance. She slowly looked up at him, blinked once, and looked away. This didn't deter him from being happy and excited. "Woohoo! I can tell we're gonna be best buds!" The other contestants, even Amy, all laughed at his antics. Despite her silence, she slowly nodded her head, and that was enough to set Owen off again into one of his cheers. But before the camera captured his nth "Woohoo!", it quickly panned over to show the next yacht dropping someone else.
This time, another girl was standing there, but she was dressed… oddly, to put it mildly. She was slightly overweight, and had light blond hair, with two frontal braids and neck-length back hair. What stood odd to her was her outfit. She wore a Viking-like helmet in her head, a brown, corset-like blouse, and a dark green skirt with a belt maintaining the two together. She also wore what seemed to be brown knee-high socks, with white fur on the rims, alongside tennis shoes.
"Tammy! Head over to your new peers on the other side of the dock." Tammy then proceeded to grab her luggage and head toward the other campers. Despite the odd looks, she was used to being considered weird, so she kept a smile on her face. "Hello, friends! I come from the vast lands of Terabithia [2], and I hereby declare we shall have a most fortunate summer!" She declared with open arms and a huge smile on her face.
Tammy - The Larper
Amy, not managing to hold back her laugh, immediately jabbed at her mannerisms.
"And where is this 'Tera' whatever? Dorkland?" She raised an eyebrow at that, instigating the larper. Despite the bad attitude, Tammy smiled at her and laughed boisterously. "A good one, a friend of mine! However, before I go babbling about where I come from, let me offer you all a piece of my soothing melody!" With a few raised eyebrows, no one deterred her from grabbing her ocarina and playing a short, yet melodic tune. Clearly, she was skilled in the instrument, and so the campers actually enjoyed the sweet notes, albeit some more openly than others.
"Pfft, whatever. Can we get a move on, Chris?" Amy asked, despite enjoying the melody too.
"Right, we are on a tight schedule, so save the kumbaya for later, Tammy." Chris tutted at her, and yet she had no problem standing over with the remaining campers. "Here comes the next one, Cameron!"
As he said that, the camera panned over and a small, skinny-looking, and short afro American boy stood in the dock, looking around with amazement at his surroundings. He wore a red sweater, mustard shorts, and knee-high white socks. A pair of thick-rimmed glasses adorned his face, insinuating his need for them to perceive things properly.
Cameron - The Bubble Boy
"Fascinating…" He then adjusted his glasses and looked toward the host. "I was always so curious about how the outside world felt. The air is so fresh, and nature is beautiful!" He exclaimed with glee in his voice, as a butterfly flew by and landed on his head. Suddenly, he tipped over due to the… weight of the butterfly?
The remaining campers stood watching in surprise at how the scene played out, both due to his seemingly innocent comment and how a simple butterfly brought him down. Nonetheless, he got up and dusted himself. "Greetings, fellow campers! I hope our summers will be swell!" He brought his luggage to stand beside Crimson and Beth. He offered the latter a small smile, which was promptly retributed. Towards the goth, he tried to offer one too, but she was far too focused on the dead bug beneath her boots. She slowly raised her head, stared at him for a bit, and then resumed back to playing with the corpse of the bug. "Right…" He slowly lowered his hand and waited with the rest.
"And now, here comes the ninth [3] camper, Trent!" Chris continued introducing the cast, for the break was almost there, and had to go back to his trailer pronto. Standing around in the middle of the summer while talking non-stop was seriously causing him to sweat more than he'd like.
After the boat sped off, a tall-looking, raven-haired heartthrob stood there, with a small smile on his lips. He wore black pants, green shoes, and a light green shirt, with camo sleeves and a black handprint as the print. With striking light green eyes, he was obviously above average. His suave demeanor was enough to make some of the girls swoon a bit, and the guitar strapped to his back in its case certainly helped seal the deal. "'Sup?" He called as he began to walk towards Chris. He then offered a handshake to Chris, which the host happily obliged.
Trent - The Cool Guy
As he walked over towards the campers, he immediately spotted the two cheerleaders, noticing them both looking at him with smiles on their faces, clearly wanting to make a good impression on the musician. "Hi, there. Nice to meet you." He offered a gentle smile in their direction. Both Amy and Sammy stuttered out a greeting back, not even bothering to contain their small infatuation with Trent. "I see I'm already leaving a good impression. I hope we can all get along." Turning to offer both Owen and Brick a nod. He was clearly not looking to piss anyone off, making friends came naturally to him, albeit a little less jumpy than Owen.
"Woohoo! It's so nice to meet you, dude! Is that a guitar? I hope you can sing something for us!" Owen exclaimed happily, with both Tammy and the twins nodding excitedly. "Yeah, dude. Maybe I will, let's see how it plays out, haha." He then high-fived Owen.
"Are you a skilled songster? Perhaps we could create a most wonderful melody and wow the crowd!" Tammy offered with a glint in her eyes, most likely due to finding another person interested in instruments. The ravenette simply shot her a smile with a small nod of his head. They'd have all the time in the world to talk about their next possible pieces, but the host seemed to be in a slight hurry, so he didn't verbally reply.
Chris took the silence as a cue to move on with the introductions, happy that the campers were mostly alright with the establishment at hand. One less headache to worry about for the time being. "And here we have the penultimate contestant before our interval break! Here comes: Sam!"
As the shot panned over, a tall, pudgy-looking teenager. He had a mop of curly, maroon hair on top of his head, and small glasses covering his eyes. He wore a beige button-up shirt, with brown and yellow horizontal lines, with brown lapels. Also wearing blue jean shorts with orange shoes. In his hands, he held a gaming console that he wasn't planning to take his eyes off of for a good while, even going so far as to hunch his back to pay the most attention possible to it.
Sam - The Gamer
"..." With no response from him, he walked off the boat while his luggage was thrown at the dock. "Just… one more level…" As he kept playing, Chris got slightly annoyed at being ignored, so he came over and removed the handheld from the gamer. That, of course, made Sam startle and look up. "Hey, my game!" He whined due to the sudden loss. He made grabby hands for it, but Chris was having none of it.
"Dude, at least let me introduce you before you dive back into your own little world, got it?" Chris asked with a raised brow, having none of it. Sam hunched a little but agreed nonetheless. Whatever helped him get his game back, he supposed.
"Uh, hi everyone, my name's Sam and I, uh, hope we can get along." He awkwardly waved at the other teenagers. At that, he received mostly warm welcomes, with the neutral Crimson ignoring or Amy calling him a freak under her breath. He walked over to them and properly greeted Brick. "Hey, are you cosplaying as Lt. Surge from the famous Mockemon [4] games?! It looks so real!" He began to fiddle with the cloth beneath his finger and all Brick could do was stare, perplexed at such claims.
"Cos…play? Soldier, I have no idea what it means, but I can assure you, I chose my outfit myself and I'm very proud of it! It shows how diligent and disciplined I am!" He saluted with a big, proud smile etching his face. "Oh…" Sam frowned in slight disappointment, but still kept the good vibes. "That's cool too, it's very similar to some finer cosplays I have seen before." Tammy and Sam then decided to hit it off after they both got into each other's good graces.
"All right, while dork and dorkette are over there getting chummy, give it up for… Courtney!" Just as he said, a girl of Hispanic heritage stood on the yacht, as Chris offered her a hand in coming down, she made sure to thank his politeness. She was a brunette with slightly lighter bangs, she wore a dim grey sweater on top of a white, long-sleeved shirt, with its sleeves rolled back. She also wore olive-colored pants that reached her shin, and wedge platform heels.
Courtney - The Type A
With a pep in her step, she walked over to the other contestants, making sure she had a pleasant smile on her face. After all, first impressions are the lasting ones! "Hi, you must be the other contestants, it's really nice to meet you all!" At that, Owen surged forward and introduced himself, shaking her tiny hand. "Hi, I'm Owen!" Courtney, of course, kept the good mood and shook it back. "Nice to meet you, Owen." As she walked along, she saw Amy give her a look from top to bottom, just to turn her nose upwards and turn from her. Most likely one of those snobby cheerleaders, 'just like in school' the Type A thought to herself, but didn't bother saying anything.
As she stood, she saw she was near the scrawny Cameron and the short Beth, deciding she could do a little bit of networking under the guise of meeting each other, she struck up a conversation with the former. "Hi, nice to meet you. What's your name?" As she said that, she struck her hand forward, offering a handshake. Cameron, being the socially inept guy he was, studied her reaching hand and began to mull to himself. "Fascinating… most humans should be a little bit more precarious about where or who they put their hands on… and yet they all did this so freely…" Courtney obviously raised an eyebrow, but her smile didn't falter.
"Well, while I certainly agree that people should be as hygienic as possible at all times, shaking hands is but a gesture of closeness between people, so take it as some sort of "leap of faith" if you will, haha." She giggled to herself. Cameron decided to take up on her offer and shook her hand. "I see, then I'd very much like to consider this a well-played gesture! I should write about this in my diary, I have so much to learn." Despite his oddities, she could see the boy was gentle-natured and most likely smart. It could do good to align herself with some of her kind.
Chris saw that the contestants were all nearly done introducing themselves to each other, so he decided to call for the aforementioned break, hoping he could fix his own sweat beads before anyone pointed them out. Looking hot at your 30s is an art not many can withhold!
"And there we have it! Our first eleven contestants are here, and we'll get back to you with our eleven left after the commercial. Stay tuned, because this is only the beginning of… Total… Drama… Island!" And the shot zoomed out just as he did back when the show started, but this time showcasing all eleven contestants standing among each other and their luggage piling on the other side of the dock.
Commercial Break
The camera pans over the lake once again, but this time, it follows back to the campers rather than Chris himself. While most of them seemed to be getting to know each other, some like Amy were begrudgingly standing nearby, not bothering to talk with others. Suddenly, another boat is heard coming, and someone was seen atop it. A tall, Hispanic-looking young man, with a sculpted body to boot and honey-colored skin. Needless to say, he was pretty darn hot, and pretty much all contestants could see that, even people like Crimson stopped what they were doing to stare at him.
"Woah, here we have Alejandro! A dreamboat on top of a dream boat!" Chris complimented the man, who jumped from the boat and landed perfectly on the dock. He wore a wine-colored button-up, open near the navel area, leaving a big cleavage. He also wore a white shirt underneath, paired with dark grey pants. His hair was medium length and reached the base of his neck, while also wearing a goatee and two bracelets on each arm.
"Hello, Chris, hello, everyone else," Alejandro stated as he walked over to Chris, who offered the Latino a handshake. "I hope we can all get along very well~" As he says this, he hints towards the female contestants who were eyeing him, and even Owen, for whatever reason.
Alejandro - The Casanova [5]
"Hello, beautiful ladies," Alejandro stated as he stood near the twins, grabbing each of their hands and laying delicate kisses, as he stared at them. "I hope we are on the same team, for we would achieve wonderful things with such Goddesses being present." As he continued to flirt with them, the twins both blushed due to the kiss and compliments, but Amy was not gonna have any of it. Harshly, she pushed Sammy out of the way and went to talk to the casanova by herself. "Out of my way, Samey!"
"Hi there, hot stuff. You don't need to worry about my little sister, Lamey. Tee hee." Amy giggled despite the harsh words. Alejandro internally groaned at the display of sibling rivalry but played along. He could not blow this so soon. "Hola, chica. I hope you know you have beautiful teal eyes, I wonder if those were handpicked by the angels themselves?" With the compliment, Amy blushed and the nearby girls, Beth and Courtney, swooned by themselves.
Sammy, who was still on the ground, could do nothing but sigh and start to get up by herself. Far too used to being treated like an obstacle by her mean sister. That, however, didn't stop her from blushing a bit from Alejandro's compliments. After all, she and her sister shared most of their physiognomy, so whatever he complimented Amy, it was an indirect compliment to her too! Alejandro decided to move away from Amy a bit and speak to the younger sister.
"And you, I hope you are well? Surely someone as pure looking as yourself shouldn't be sullied by this unworthy wooden dock. Here, let me help you." Alejandro then proceeded to take a handkerchief from his pocket and dabbed it a little at her face, removing specks of dust that accumulated from being so close to the floor. "There, now you're perfect as you were." Flashing a grin, he retreated to the group as a whole, clearly content with what transpired. Sammy, however, was left blushing hard and smiling bashfully as she avoided the hot glares from her sister.
As Chris watched, he whispered to the camera. "Oh wow, that cannot end well. And I love that we're pretty much guaranteed to have drama." He wiggled his brows as the camera zoomed in on his face, hinting what he was saying was indeed gonna become true. "Next up, we have yet another contestant appearing soon! Here comes…! Huh? Where is she?!"
Lo and behold, someone pokes Chris on his back, and he jumps up from the sudden fright. Standing behind him was a small, pale girl, with light blond hair and light blue eyes. She sported a green sweater on top of a blue button-up, paired with a short grey skirt. She wore purple leggings and Mary Jane shoes. "I am right here, Christopher. Pleased to meet you." She spoke with a light, airy voice and a small smile in her semblance.
Dawn - The Moonchild
"Holy cow, Dawn! Don't scare me like that ever again! And it's Chris, not Christopher." He panted with a hand on his chest, clearly caught off guard from the sudden scare. "Also, how the heck did you even arrive? I didn't hear the boat dropping you off!" She simply shrugged and grabbed her luggage, while letting a butterfly land on her outstretched finger. "Hello there, little one. It is very nice to meet you!" As she spoke to the insect, the other contestants were all slightly creeped out by the girl. All but Crimson, who finally sported an emotion outside of apathy, in her case, interest. With both eyebrows raised, she calmly approached Dawn.
As the two of them stared at each other, Crimson finally let a small smile adorn her face, and to the shock of all other campers, she uttered her first word. "Hello."
Dawn smiled back at her, clearly content to see someone who isn't crept by her demeanor. "Hello, Crimson. It is very nice to meet you. I have to say, you have a beautiful wine-colored aura with tints of purple on it. It's very befitting!" She exclaimed with enthusiasm.
"Wait, how did you know her name if you only came way after her?" Brick asked, raising an eyebrow. Dawn once shrugged and simply responded. "I could see her aura, it is what she prefers being referred to, so it's only natural." As she finished with a smile, the camera pointed to the other campers all baffled to hear someone speak so easily about something of that nature.
Before any of them could inquire further, a slightly nasal and pitched voice rang out from nowhere near the group. There, standing in the docks was a red-haired girl, with a librarian bun hairstyle, and glasses adorning her face. She wore a beige sweater on top of a white blouse with lapels, a teal pencil skirt, flats, and knee-high white socks. She carried a distinct air of intelligence but without any kind of arrogance or overbearing.
"Uh, if I may, rather than being because of something as ludicrous as "auras", she most likely read the fine print that was given to us before parting to the island, where it stated where we could see the other contestants and their names, or preferred names, in Crimson's case." She stated logically, fixing her glasses and receiving a surprised look from Chris. "Wait, you actually went and read that? Wow, and here I thought those would only be used as scrap paper. Color me surprised!" Chris proclaimed with both brows shot up, clearly not expecting a bunch of teenagers to bother reading.
"I did, and I also read that, as I believe we all did for this one, we'd be staying at a five-star resort for the remainder of the program, so I hope that this is more of a standalone place than where we'll stay indefinitely." She fixed at him, clearly showing discomfort over staying in the rundown camp. "Yeah… about that…" Chris started nervously, rubbing his neck in the process. "Wait, I still have to finish introducing the rest of the cast, including you. Leave the inquiries for later! Oh, and if you haven't read the prints, the brainiac here is known as Scarlett. Fitting, ay?" Chris joked, earning a slight frown from the redhead. "Actually, I'd prefer to be referred to as-" Before she could finish, Chris was already pushing her to the group, not caring in the slightest about her preference.
Scarlett - The Brainiac
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let me carry on with my show. Can it, for now, walking thesaurus." Scarlett simply rolled her eyes and stood nearby Cameron and Courtney. Offering a slight nod, she made her proper introduction quietly, as they all waited for Chris to carry on.
And, as if fate had decided itself, Scarlett's complete opposite was seen arriving from the top of the boat, blasting down party music and cheering to it. "Woohoo! Let's go, dude!" Then, he proceeded to jump to the dock, flashing a thumbs up towards the boat, most likely thanking the driver for allowing the speakers to be on during the trip. He stood tall, wearing an open pink shirt, showing his muscled chest and pectorals, while also wearing a pair of blue jeans short, with blue flip flops to accompany him. Strangely enough, the Californian-look alike also wore a cowboy hat on top of his blond hair.
"Yo, man, 'sup?" He walked to Chris and offered a fist bump. "'Sup, Geoff. Stoked to be here?" He replied. "Man, you can bet on it! I hope we can party all night long! Woohoo!" His enthusiasm was contagious, so some of the more amicable campers decided to head directly to him, to introduce themselves. Namely, Beth, Owen, Brick, Trent, and Tammy all went to greet him, whereas some like Scarlett and Courtney were more annoyed due to the constant usage of the term 'man' or his overly positive attitude in the case of Amy. "Man, you all rock! I hope we can make some great memories together, dudes and dudettes!"
Geoff - The Party Guy
Courtney nudged Scarlett lightly and whispered. "If one of them says 'man' one more time I swear I'll have an aneurysm." She offered in a light tone, obviously joking about what was transpiring. Cameron, however, being close suddenly looked alarmed. "What?! Are you alright, Courtney? Do we need to take you to the infirmary?" He asked with big, wide eyes and began to hyperventilate a little. "Cameron, all Courtney said was in jest. She's using hyperbole to describe something that she found slightly unpleasant, albeit funny in a way. Do not worry, for no one is actually having an aneurysm." Scarlett explained to him, noting that he misunderstood an obvious joke. 'He could prove to be useful… hm…' she thought to herself.
"Yes, you've met Geoff, but please remember to wait on the other side. This is my shot and I don't want to share my spotlight with any of you." Chris said with a mock frown but carried a jovial tone. "Now move along, you rascals, before the next camper arrives. And also because I'm not sure this dock can hold all 15 of you plus myself, so it's better you all stay on the other side." He whispered the last bit to the camera, clearly finding the idea of the dock sinking beneath their feet amusing. "Anyway, onto our next contestant! Here comes Mickey!"
Just as he said, a small, freckled, brunette was standing on the boat, but contrary to Geoff's excitement, he seemed to be far more fearful of what that could entail. He wore a light blue coat with small, orange details, such as the rim of the sleeve and the inside of the hoodie plus the strings. Notably, he also wore olive green pants and wine sneakers. But by far the most prominent part of his outfit was the helmet he was wearing.
As the boat stopped, he took a tentative step towards the dock, but due to his anxiety, he took too long, so the driver was already turning tail, ready to leave him stranded in the camp. The sudden movement rocked his whole body, which flung him towards the dock, hitting his head against the wooden planks. All campers bar a few groaned in discomfort from seeing the scene play out, but Courtney and Brick were the first ones to run toward him, most likely to check on his well-being.
Mickey - The Unlucky One
"Oh, my God! Are you ok?!" Courtney freaked out as she saw his unmoving form. "Chris, anyone, please help, I don't think he's OK!" She cried for the others, but her eyes caught movement happening underneath her, to which she realized it was Mickey himself.
"I'm alright, I wear the helmet exactly for these types of situations, haha." He laughed nervously but continued. "Still, thank you both for coming, but you really don't need to. I'm used to being in accidents at all times. My twin, Jay, and I are known for being the Adversity Twins after all." A few of the more mean-spirited campers laughed at that, while the empathetic ones tried to be compassionate. "Right… I see." Courtney offered him a hand and he took it, while Brick carried his luggage and they both got back to the rest of the group.
"Soldier, I'm glad to see that despite the odds being stacked against you, you still took the time to apply for this! I'm proud of you!" Brick declared with a salute toward Mickey. Who in return was left slightly in shock, given the nice people surrounding him. Normally people would laugh and avoid him since his bad luck can be quite contagious, but being treated so nicely by these people is great!
The shot changed from the group towards the lake again, and the booming sound of the boat approaching drew their attention back to their new future competitor. An afro American girl was standing on the boat, with one hand on her hips and looking fierce, yet friendly. She seemed like someone who was gonna put someone in their place but wouldn't be rude for no reason. She wore a beige shirt with fruits as the pattern, light jeans that reached her shins, and brown sandals. She styled her dark hair in a high ponytail, wearing hoops on both ears, while sporting a beauty mark on her right cheekbone, much like Amy.
"And here's the beautiful LeShawna!" Chris announced her arrival. As she walked down, her booming voice reached all the campers. "'Sup y'all? LeShawna's in the house, and she came here to WIN! So y'all can just give up already!" She proudly boasted, but obviously in good nature. She gave Chris a high five as she rolled her luggage past him. She was confident and strutted to the others, but stopped near Cameron first and foremost. "Oh, what's up, my brother? Gimme some sugar, baby!" As she offered him a high five too.
However, Cameron being… Well, Cameron didn't really understand but high-fived her all the same. "Fascinating, I had never seen someone like you before in real life." Adjusting his glasses, Scarlett facepalms quietly and shakes her head. LeShawna however took it in stride. "Oh yeah, baby? You got it good then, cuz I'm the real deal, so y'all watch out!"
LeShawna - The Sister with 'Tude
Geoff stepped up, clearly amused by her attitude. "Yo, nice to meet you, brah. Hope we can party together, cuz your vibes just match mine super well!" Geoff declared offering her a high five. "Oh yeah, you don't even have to worry. Be on my team and we'll be partying at all times."
At that, Dawn joined their conversation. "Wow, you both have such radiant auras, it feels truly magnificent to be standing around people such as yourselves." She finished with a smile on her lips. Geoff and LeShawna both looked at each other, not sure how to react to the whole "Aura', but were happy all the same for finding someone who had good vibes. "Whatever you say, sugar." LeShawna finished with a smile too.
Similarly, another yacht dropped off another contestant. This time, a lanky, redhead, full of pimples on his face, with green-colored glasses and with an unshaved goatee. He wore a blue shirt with a spaceship print on top of a long-sleeved salmon-colored shirt. With olive green pants and blue and beige sneakers, he was also carrying a small keyboard underneath his arm. "Here's Harold!" Chris announced when he finally stepped off of the boat. Harold stood for a while, looked around the environment, and decided to finally comment. "This place is sick. I'll be able to demonstrate my sick skills just fine here." He finished with a smile.
Now whether some of the other contestants believed him or not, that's something entirely different. Trent offered him a handshake but retreated it back when he picked his nose. All of the girls plus Alejandro recoiled in disgust at the scene, so when he finally arrived near the group they all parted a little bit, not wanting to be super close to him.
Harold - The Dweeb
"Dude, at least wait until you're alone to be doing this. We're on live television you know?" Trent shot at the redhead, clearly wanting him to take the hint and knock it off. "What? It's not like I'm eating it, jeez…" Said phrase proceeded to make pretty much everyone in the vicinity gag in disgust.
"All right, moving away from whatever this was, let's introduce another contestant. This time, we have Bridgette!" As the boat sped off, a blonde girl wearing a light blue sweater, jeans shorts, and leather sandals appeared. She styled her long, blonde hair in a ponytail, and had a surfboard beneath her arm, while also carrying her bag in the other.
"Hey, you guys. It's great to finally meet you." She said with a soothing voice, making sure not to startle anyone. "I hope we have some challenges that involve going in the water, that's where I'm at my element." She finished with a peaceful smile on her face. As she walked by Chris, someone called her name, so by reflex, she turned and smacked him with the tip of her board. That, of course, hurt. A lot. So he whined. "Ow, watch it! That hurt a lot!" But Bridgette paid no mind, she was already busy talking to Geoff and Alejandro.
"Yo dudette, nice surfboard. You surf a lot?" Geoff asked with interest, clearly trying to look for similar topics they shared. "Yeah, I brought it in hopes there would be a beach in here or something, but I guess a lake isn't really fitting. Oops." She replied nervously.
"Do not fret, chica. We'll have plenty of time for you to showcase your amazing swimming skills at the very least." Alejandro charmed her, with every intention of winning her over Geoff, whom he sent a victorious smile towards. Luckily, the former was rather happy about Bridgette being there, so he didn't really notice Alejandro's quip.
Bridgette - The Surfer Girl
"Oh wow, you're really… handsome…" Bridgette complimented the casanova, oblivious to Geoff's presence now that Alejandro was focusing on her. "And you remind me of the waves crashing against the beach on the brightest summer day, none of us are truly worth it of being in your vicinity." As he held her hand, she furiously blushed while some of the other girls were jealous of Bridgette's position. Now Geoff was seriously getting a bad vibe from Alejandro, after all, he was being way too touchy-feely.
"Uh, Bridgette, you are… very pretty!" He stammered it out, trying to make her pay attention to him. "And uh, I hope we're on the same team!" But nothing truly made Alejandro stop being the center of her universe currently. Geoff craned his neck and walked away from the two, clearly recognizing he failed to impress her as much as he did. From afar, one camper was paying attention to the whole thing going down, making sure to assess and catalog all information being presented to them.
The scene pans over to show another yacht leaving, with a tall, dark-haired guy standing. He had a pretty good physique, and Asian heritage, and his hair was styled in a sort of unruly yet charming hairdo. He wore a green t-shirt with a power symbol etched on its front, on top of a long-sleeved beige shirt, dark blue jeans, and black sneakers. He also wore a pendant around his neck, but only the wire was seen, rather than the pendant itself.
"Devin, welcome, welcome. You amped to spend the next 8 weeks here?" Chris tested the waters, not knowing whether he'd blow his top or not. "Totally, dude. Can't wait to meet all of the others! But, uh, Chris. Question: Weren't we supposed to" But he was interrupted by Chris' short temper getting the best of him.
"Yes, I'm getting there eventually, if only you teenagers didn't stop me from introducing the remaining campers every 5 minutes. Now get to the other side of the pier and can it." Chris finished with a frown, which was probably a real one compared to his previous ones. It had been a long day of introducing teenagers he wasn't even fond of, after all.
Devin - The Loveable Hunk [6]
"Sheesh, got it," Devin said, then grab his luggage and moved away from the host. Despite the latter's mood swings, he still saw the silver lining of the situation. "Hey you guys, it's great to finally be here!" And so, Devin was off to make friends, which wouldn't be a hard thing, mind you. What's more to love about someone who's loveable and hot? Exactly. As he walked by the teens, he noticed two identical girls. The only difference is that one of them had a mole on her cheek. He gave a small smile in their direction, but only the one without the mole noticed, who shot him a small smile back and waved.
Once he stopped near Sam, he offered him a fist bump, which the geek readily accepted. "Hey man, how's it going?" He asks in a friendly manner. "Oh, not much. I'm just waiting for this to be over so Chris can finally give back my handheld." Sam said, but instantly deflated when he remembered he was left without it for such a long while. "Relax, man. We're 22, and by my counts, we're only missing 2 others. You'll be back with it in no time, and then we can get to play something, how about that?" Devin asked, hoping to strike up a friendship with him.
"Oh, you're into games too? That's super, I have to show you some of the games I got!" And as they went talking to each other, Sam was at least glad he could talk to someone else with similar hobbies.
Rightly so, the next yacht arrives, dropping off another Asian person, but this time, a girl. She seemed to be of east Asian descent, similar to Devin, but her features call for Chinese rather than Vietnam descent. She's tall, skinny, and with a fair amount of black hair cascading down her back. Or it would be cascading down her back, had she not put 2 pigtails as her hairstyle of preference. Using two red ribbons, she tied each pigtail, leaving her face mostly clear of any possible hair. She wore a dark blue mini skirt, a red long-sleeved shirt with its sleeves rolled back, and a white shirt underneath it. In addition, she also wore brown boots and knee-high white socks.
As soon as she walked down the boat, she brought up her phone and snapped a few pictures of her surroundings, alongside grabbing Chris and talking selfies. "Oh yeah, these look great! And it's great to finally be here! I was waiting for so long to receive the callback!" She proclaimed excitedly. Obviously happy about finally arriving, despite the camp's conditions not being the promised five-star resort.
"Welcome, Kitty! I hope you enjoy staying here, I know I certainly will! Do me a solid one, and go stand over there with the other contestants, all right?" Chris shot back, clearly amused at her excitement. And, unlike Sam's obsession, she quickly pocketed her phone in order to chat with the others. Probably why Chris didn't bother removing it from her.
Kitty - The Selfie Girl [7]
"Got it! Hey, you guys. It's nice to meet you, I hope we can have a great time." As she walked, she finally decided to stand near LeShawna, who was smiling at her. "Hey, the name's Kitty. What's yours?" She introduced herself personally to the afro American girl.
"Hey sweetie, the name's LeShawna. I can see you're a nice person, so I do hope we can share the cabin. It certainly beats the blondie over there who's giving everyone the stinky eye." With that, LeShawna pointed towards Amy who was glowering due to the amount of time she had to stay standing. Luckily, the bratty teen didn't hear LeShawna, so Kitty saw who she was and joked back.
"Aw, man. I sure hope she's not there either, I don't think I could endure hearing her complain about a lack of Macchiatos in the mess hall, hahaha." And with that, both Kitty and LeShawna began laughing, despite Amy's obliviousness to the jab. "Here, let's take a selfie, all right?" So they both posed for the photo, Kitty making sure she saved it dearly.
"And last, but not least, here's Shawn!" As Chris finished, finally happy about introducing everyone, he pointed towards the boat that had just stopped. But apparently… no one was aboard? What?
Suddenly, shouting was heard from above, which scared all contestants. A boy with shaggy, brown hair swung down from the vine into the pier, clearly being used to performing such feats. He wore a green toque on top of the mess he called hair, a white long-sleeved shirt with an orange vest on top of it, alongside basic jeans and grey sneakers. "Hy-Ah!" He exclaimed as he landed, taking the others by surprise yet again, due to the oddities.
"Uh, dude? What was that for?" Chris asked with a raised eyebrow, more concerned about why he was swinging on vines, despite having a proper boat prepared to deliver him.
"I don't trust boats. What if the captain of the boat becomes a zombie when we're least expecting it, so he decides to turn back to shove us toward his undead brethren? Huh? I need to stay on alert, so I arrived earlier and was scouting for possible zombie breaches!" Crickets. That's all there was after he finished his monologue. Not a single person knew what to say to follow through. Harold decided to break the tension.
Shawn - The Zombie Nut
"That's sick." And with no further comment, all teens stood around each other, not knowing what to do. Chris finally broke from his stupor and carried on. "Ignoring whatever this was, there we have it. We finally have all 22 contestants here!" He said with open arms, clearly content for being able to move on.
All campers (save a few, like Crimson) cheered onto this, finally able to move on from this spot and settle down for good.
"First things first, we need a group photo for the promos." As the host said that, he took a camera from his back pocket, and you could basically hear Kitty's excitement. "Everyone on the end of the dock!" And obviously, he dipped into safe land, in case the foundation was not stable enough. Some of the more skeptical teenagers took a little longer to arrive at the other side, fearing the dock would break under the combined weight, but Chris' insistence managed to drive them to move.
They all huddled together, some decided to sit down, and some others propped themselves in the more physically bulky campers, such as Owen and Sam. Just when Chris was about to take a picture, he noticed the lens' cap was still on, so he repositioned the camera. "OK, hold that pose." As he said it, he began counting down but was shortly after interrupted. "Oh, wait, the card's full. Hang on." And he went to take care of that problem. Just as he was done, some of the campers began to grumble about hurrying up, either due to not wanting to stand in the same position for too long, or due to not wanting to stand in the dock for any minute longer. "OK, got it. Everyone say 'Wawanakwa!'!"
As soon as the campers all said the word, the dock beneath them began to creak from the combined weight, what did 22 teenagers expect for standing in a flimsy wooden dock? And as soon as the flash went off, all you could see in the picture were a few teenagers in distress after being suddenly sunk. Namely, Sam was holding onto a piece of wood, Amy was gasping for air, Geoff's hat was seen floating, Beth had a single hand shot out of the water, Scarlett had a foot sticking up, Courtney was trying to stay afloat and Devin only had bits of his face outside of the water. All in all, a pretty good first photo in Chris' eyes.
"OK guys, dry off and meet me at the campfire pit in 10 minutes." The only one that was actually not soaked wet was Dawn, who somehow was in dry land beside him, in a meditating position. "Woah, weren't you in the frame just 10 seconds ago?" He questioned her sudden appearance beside him. "Christopher, I hope you are aware your aura is a shade of green and not the good kind. Be careful." And with that, she walked off.
After that went down, Chris was seen talking on a phone. "Who the hell called that girl? I'm being serious, she creeps me out." The screen then faded to black, giving the contestants some time to dry themselves and carry on.
Interlude
Soon after, the screen showed all campers in the aforementioned clearing. 12 sitting in the stumps (from left to right, and top to bottom): Amy, Bridgette, Cameron, Courtney, Tammy, Trent, Sammy, Alejandro, Dawn, Kitty, LeShawna, and Harold all being seated, with the remaining 10 standing. Shortly after, Chris began speaking again, standing directly opposite the stumps, near the drum barrel.
"THIS is Camp Wawanakwa, your home for the next 8 weeks. The campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition, and maybe even your friends. Ya dig?" With each addendum, a different shot of random campers was shown. "The camper who manages to stand on Total Drama Island the longest, without getting voted off, will win 100.000 dollars (one hundred thousand).
Scarlett then raised her hand, obviously waiting for Chris to allow her to talk. He nodded in her direction and she spoke. "What will the sleeping arrangements be like? I hope they aren't co-ed." She finished the last bit, sending a scathing glare his way. "Because I'd like to remember we're all 17 at best, so I refuse to be sleeping near some of these guys."
"Don't worry, brainiac, they're not co-ed. Girls and guys get one side of each cabin, so don't you worry." Chris said with a smile on his face, especially after seeing some of the girl campers look at Alejandro forlorn.
Owen then raised his hand but didn't wait for confirmation. "Chris, can I get the cabin nearest to the mess hall?" To which Chris pointedly ignored, not dignifying that with an answer. This, in turn, made Amy begin to complain.
"Well, Samey better sleep in a cabin different from mine. It's bad enough I have to listen to her snoring every night at home, spending the next 8 weeks potentially trapped with her in here sounds like my nightmares coming true." Amy said with a malicious grin on her face, finding pleasure in humiliating Sammy as much as possible in front of the others. Some laughter was heard from inside the group, while Sammy ducked her head and blushed. She knew it wasn't true, she didn't snore, but there was no point in trying to argue with Amy.
"Ladies, that is the last thing I care about. Now, stop interrupting me so I can finish." Chris shot all of the question makers a slight glare and carried on, happily so that no one interrupted him. "Here's the deal: We're gonna split you into two teams. If I call your name out, go stand over there." So he pointed to his left. "Bridgette, Shawn, Mickey, Alejandro, Amy, Samey, Beth, Trent, LeShawna, Kitty, and Brick." And with each name, the camera showed the close up of all mentioned campers. "From this moment on, you are officially known as 'The Screaming Gophers'!" And as he finished, he threw the team banner towards Alejandro, who caught it easily and showed the remaining campers and viewers the image of an angry gopher, potentially screaming at something else. "Sir, yes, Sir!" Brick saluted, too used to the military ranking.
"Ugh, of course, I'm stuck with Samey on my team…" Amy mutters under her breath, but Alejandro was able to hear. Instantly, the gears start to turn inside his head.
"The rest of you, over here." Pointing to his right, he cited the remaining members, with the cameras showing the campers just as it happened to the Screaming Gophers. "Geoff, Sam, Harold, Tammy, Scarlett, Cameron, Courtney, Devin, Owen, Crimson, Dawn. You guys will be officially known as 'The Killer Bass'!" At that, Sam and Devin both high-fived for being able to be on the same team, whereas Courtney, Scarlett, and Cameron all shared happy looks. However, Geoff was slightly sad about not being on Bridgette's team, and Alejandro was. But nothing he could do to change that.
"All right, campers. You and your team will be on camera in all public areas during this competition." As he finished, the camera cut to static, showcasing Chris sitting in an old, gross-looking outhouse, with grainy quality, yet capable of recording perfectly. "You'll also be able to share your innermost thoughts on tape with video diaries anytime you want. Let the audience at home know what you're really thinking." Emphasizing the 'really', Chris winked at the camera, letting the audience know some people would present themselves differently in these two spaces. "Or, just get something off your chest." The camera changes once again, but this time it's Shawn who's sitting in the outhouse.
Shawn - Confessional (1)
"You know? I thought this would be worse, but I'm used to living amongst things with strong odors, to mask my own." He confessed proudly, proceeded to smell his own armpit, then had a shocked look. "Maybe I could invest in a little bit more soap…"
Shawn - Confessional - End (1)
The screen shifts again, this time showing Sammy sitting by herself.
Sammy - Confessional (1)
She sighs loudly, clearly not content with how things played out. "I can't believe Amy is here! I auditioned to be here exactly to be able to leave home and not be near her, but now I'm forced to share a room with her again. And stay on the same team? Could this get any worse?" She pouted and whined, but soon banging was heard from outside. Amy was telling Sammy to 'hurry the hell up and stop hogging the spotlight, like always'. She sighed again.
Sammy - Confessional - End (1)
With the next camera static, there was a loo standing by itself, applying what seemed to be some sort of lipstick on its lips. When it finally noticed the camera, it became wide-eyed and the camera shifted again.
Owen - Confessional (1)
He stood very still, not even looking at the camera. All you could hear was him concentrating deeply until he farted. He proceeded to look at the camera, realized he was at the wrong place for that, and smiled embarrassedly.
Owen - Confessional - End (1)
The shot changed to show solely Chris standing by the pit fire again, waiting for the other contestants to settle down. "All right, any questions?" He saw a few raised hands but pointedly ignored him, as per his usual behavior. "Cool. Let's find your cabins."
The shot changed once again to show 2, old-looking, unstable-looking cabins next to each other, and as the camera panned, Chris was shown walking into the scene. "Gophers, you're in the east cabin, Bass, you're in the west."
Opening one of the doors, it was shown that inside the cabin there were several bunk beds stacked neatly against the walls, with an old heater near the middle of the room. Courtney immediately groaned in discomfort. "Ugh, bunk beds, really? I hate them." She begrudgingly walked forward, so as to not stop in front of the doorway. "Bad experiences, I assume?" Scarlett asked as she walked inside and assimilated the situation. "Yeah, something like that…" But not answering any further, she chose a bunk bed near the left corner and asked if Scarlett would bunk with her, to which she accepted.
On the Gopher's boys' side, Shawn quickly abandoned the idea of sleeping inside. "Sorry, you guys. I just hate the idea of being stuck in a place where I can't run from zombies. I'll be sleeping in the trees, so feel free to take my bed or something." Shawn said, rubbing his neck. "Zombies? Aren't those just fictional?" Brick asked, clearly unsure what he was supposed to take from that.
"Not at all, dude! They're real, and the government is hiding them from the general public, just waiting for an opportunity to strike and release the hordes onto us. That's why I'm always prepared for the end of the world!" He said it with such ease, people like Alejandro and Trent had to double-take, and Mickey was shown to be scared out of his mind by the possibility. "C-can they?" He asked fearfully.
Before Shawn replied, they all heard a scream from the other side of the cabin, where all of the boys ran towards. There, they saw Amy and Sammy standing on top of the same bed, not wanting to step down due to a cockroach being nearby. Due to their combined shrill screams, some of the Bass came to see what was going on.
Several people tried to step on the cockroach but to no avail. It seemed like it was finally going to meet an unsavory death, but the petite blonde appeared in front of it and collected it with its hands. "Here, little one. Let's get you outside, where you belong." Dawn said with a smile, letting the insect wander off into the wilderness. "EW! Did you just grab that disgusting thing with your bare hands?! Don't ever come close to me!" Amy screamed at Dawn, clearly disgusted by the latter's actions.
All Dawn did was stare at Amy for a bit of a while to then say: "Amanda, I hope you are aware you won't win your parent's approval by being this way." And then turned around and walked off. This left a sour taste in Amy's mouth and a shocked one in Sammy's.
Amy - Confessional (1)
"Who does that little skank think she is? I have no idea what she even meant by that, it must be all of the insect shit she's been touching that has made her cuckoo!" Amy glared down at the camera, clearly uncomfortable about what went down.
Amy - Confessional - End (1)
Cameron came forward towards Chris, inquiring him about the whereabouts of any possible chaperone. "Nope, I trust you all are near 18, so you're up to your own devices for most time. Also, wouldn't do anything that can compromise you nor your image in front of the cameras." Chris replied with a smirk in his face, clearly knowing the teenagers would be self-conscious about anything inappropriate.
"I-I see. Good to know, thank you." And with that, Cameron scooted off to his own cabin, deciding who to bunk with. After seeing his retreating form, Chris brought out a megaphone and bellowed. "You guys got half an hour to unpack and unwind, after that, meet me at the main lodge!"
The camera changed, assumedly half an hour passed, to showcase the mentioned main lodge. A building not so distinct from the cabins, but obviously bigger since it needed to accommodate all 22 campers + hosts.
From inside, the audience could see two tables with several seats on each side, assumedly the place where they'd eat and rejoin before and after the challenges. Additionally, the campers all heard a booming voice coming from the kitchen before it came into frame. A tall, muscled, African American cook stood on the other side of the kitchen. "Listen up, I serve 3 times a day, and you'll eat 3 times a day! Grab a tray, get yo food, and sit your butts down NOW!"He exclaimed, which made nearly half the campers scurry off to find a tray.
Mickey, in his ingenuity, decided to approach the cook. "E-excuse me, Mr. Chef? I was wondering if you could tell me what is inside of this dish you're serving? I just wanna make sure I don't ingest-". Chef's eye trembled and he bellowed out. "You'll get a whole lotta 'SIT YO BUTT DOWN AND EAT YOU DAMN FOOD'!" This, in turn, scared the remaining characters. Not wanting to be on his bad side, Owen whispered to Cameron, who was beside him. "Have a cow, haha." But of course, Chef heard it. "What was that?! Come closer, fatso! I didn't hear you!" Owen looked scared to death. "I-I didn't say anything important…" [8] He then proceeded to pick up his tray and move along.
Kitty came forward with her tray, obviously not having a choice. As Chef prepared her food, she saw the grub begin to… move? "Uh, I'm sorry for being like this, but I think mine moved?" Chef, without saying a word, grabbed a mallet and slammed the food on her plate, splattering them both in whatever the hell the food was supposed to be. Kitty stared in astonishment and quickly scurried off too.
After they all sat down, with disgruntled expressions, Chris came into the lodge. "Welcome to the main lodge. I hope you all are enjoying the food!" Chris knew the food was disgusting, but his voice held humor as he saw them all glare at him.
"Chris, can we please order something? Like, I dunno, Sushi?" Courtney stood up and asked from her seat, obviously hoping her wishes were allowed. All she got, however, was a meat cleaver flying from the kitchen, with Chef's angry glare at her. "AHHHH! Are you crazy? That could have hurt someone!" Courtney screeched towards Chef. He laughed low and remarked. "Be glad I missed this time. Next time, I wouldn't be so sure." Courtney gulped and sat down, going back to her food.
As Chris watched it unfold, the smile never left his face. Seeing all of these campers get through their challenges while on Chef's diet would be incredibly funny. "Your first challenge begins in 1 hour!" And with that, he walked off, letting them marinate.
Tammy turned towards Devin and asked. "What do you think they'll make us do?" Devin confidently replied. "It's our first challenge, how hard can it be?" Famous last words.
The scene changed to show all 22 campers wearing their swimsuits, with Chris standing on top of the cliff that was shown in the background. Most of the campers were staring fearfully at the bottom or lack thereof. The camera zoomed out, showing it was an abysmal cliff, standing several meters from the only body of water nearby. All you could hear was Devin's imminent bleeped-out word. "F*CK!"
The scene finally changed one last time, showing Chris as he once was at the beginning of the episode. Near the camp sign, he began to finish the episode. "Next time on Total Drama Island! Their first task is to jump off the 1000 Ft. [9] high cliff into the lake!" And with that, the episode came to an end.

I'll update whenever I finish a future chapter, but I always make sure I have at least 3 chapters written ahead of time. (I.E.: When I actually posted this, I had written up to Not Quite So Famous). So I promise I'll always try to post at least once, weekly. Ciao!
[1]: Honestly, I decided to rewatch the series, to make sure I was paraphrasing the lines correctly, but I had no idea what Chris meant by this line. So I just decided to change it.
[2]: That movie broke me as a kid, so it deserves a special citation. :,)
[3]: OK, I swear I won't make him go through the wreck that was TDA. This was a single citation that I thought would be funny, I promise you all.
[4]: I'm actually a huge Pokémon fan, so I decided to add this little reference here for the fuck of it. Also, Mockemon is literally Pokémon + Mock.
[5]: I didn't want to give him the 'Archvillain' title right from the get-to-go, so Casanova felt appropriate given his role in TDWT.
[6]: Y'all... Hear me out. I always had thee biggest crush on Devin, and since he and Carrie have this super generic team name, I had to give him something else.
[7]: Similar to Devin, she did not hold any title back in RR, so Selfie Girl felt appropriate.
[8]: OK, again, I swear I'm paraphrasing the dialogue lines from the series, but it's done in order to have a proper foundation built on. The only phrases that will be kept nearly equal are the ones where Chris explains challenges and eliminations.
[9]: There is a reason I haven't changed to be more realistic, next chapter it'll be explained.
