I began pre-writing this, so I thought I would start sharing this with y'all. It's a rewrite of my first posted Ninjago fanfic: A Glimpse into the Past. I hope y'all like it now that I came back to it with new eyes and more knowledge of writing a somewhat decent story. XD

Enjoy! :D

The ninja were training in the monastery, splitting into groups and fighting one on one with each other. This morning Lloyd was up against Jay, who seemed to be ecstatic. He was hopping from foot to foot, small sparks of blue lightning dancing around his fingers as he clutched his nunchucks.

"You ready?" Jay asked, beginning to swing his nunchucks over his head as he prepared to strike.

"Whenever you are," Lloyd stated, pulling his golden sword from its sheath.

"Three, two… one!" the two ninja counted down simultaneously, jumping into action. Jay swung his nunchucks at Lloyd, aiming for the gut. Lloyd was able to block the lightning ninja's attack, but only barely. His sword nearly flung out of his hands, and he ended up stumbling over in order to catch it. Taking this to his advantage, Jay jumped into the air and swung his nunchucks down at Lloyd, attempting to land a blow. However Lloyd rolled out of the way just in time, a loud thump sounding behind him as the master of lightning flung his weapon at the ground, nearly missing the Green Ninja.

Lloyd spun to his feet, getting a better hold on his sword before slashing at Jay, who tripped backwards from the force of the attack. Lloyd, evening the battlefield, allowed Jay to regain his balance before striking again. This time the blue ninja was prepared, blocking the swipe with the chains of his nunchucks.

"Going easy on me?" Jay asked, suddenly twisting his nunchucks and disarming Lloyd and knocking him back at the same time. "I hope not."

"Well it's not as fun when I win in the first thirty seconds," Lloyd teased as he quickly got back into position, clutching his sword tighter than ever as he got ready for the next blow that Jay would deal.

"Hey, I could've recovered from that!" Jay complained, using Spinjitzu and charging towards Lloyd, forcing the Green Ninja to fling himself out of the way of the electric-charged tornado.

"I doubt it," Lloyd joked, quickly standing back up before using his own Spinjitzu tornado to counterattack the blue ninja's. The two crashed into each other, causing them to rebound into the walls of the monastery. The other ninja stopped their sparring as they watched the two slowly stand back up, looking flustered and embarrassed.

"You guys got a little intense there, didn't yuh?" Kai asked, helping brush dust particles off of Lloyd's gi as the Green Ninja attempted to retrieve his sword from a new crack in the wall.

"Heh, yeah, sorry about that," Jay called out, rushing over to Lloyd and helping him yank the blade out of the brick and marble barrier, and while they managed to remove the sword, it left a large crack in the structure.

Master Wu isn't gonna like that.

"Should we tell him?" Kai asked, as if reading Lloyd's mind. The two looked at the fire ninja, debating whether or not to come clean or somehow fix or disguise the large crack the best they could before their sensei caught wind of what happened.

"Maybe if we just ignore it and keep training he won't find us suspicious, hence he won't look over here and hopefully he won't notice it?" Jay suggested, his voice getting more high pitched with every word he spoke. He glanced at Kai nervously, perhaps in hopes that the fire elemental would reassure him… but he didn't, instead staring at Jay like there was more to his sentence.

"That's your whole plan?" Kai judged, his voice cracking in shock. Jay nodded sheepishly as Lloyd inspected the hole in the wall, mostly ignoring the two at this point.

"Guys?" Lloyd muttered, turning to face the arguing ninja. At first they ignored him, so Lloyd raised his voice in the hopes that they just didn't hear him. "Guys!?"

"What?" Kai and Jay asked simultaneously, Kai's voice ringing with annoyance and Jay's with an aftertone of fear.

"I think someone's watching us."

Well, here's the first chapter! I hope y'all enjoyed, and I hope it didn't suck like the last version of this lol. Please leave a review and I'll post a new chapter... in three days? Sorry if that seems like a long time, but I realized with "The Old Days" that even every other day is really frequent, especially when your managing two (and now three) stories, PLUS school PLUS a job... basically, I'm sorry if I don't post as often, but unless you want a really poorly written fic it's kinda mandatory.

Anyway, thank y'all so much for reading, and please don't forget to leave a review! :D
