Chilling Tears
She sat staring out at the rolling waves of the beach. The breeze chilled the angry hot tears running down her face. She was mostly a silent crier a few whimpers here and there but she wasn't a ball baby. Her hands clenched into fists. Her first instinct was to lash out and hurt herself then she'd try to hurt the people who mattered most. She took a deep breath smelling nothing but the salty sweet smell of the beach. She drew in another breath and smelled something else. It was a familiar musky scent that always sent her heart into overdrive. She knew it was dangerous to love him and that she'd only get broken again. Sam was long forgotten, what she didn't understand was why she always wanted what she couldn't have. She wasn't surprised when Embry sat down beside her. They had grown close over the years he knew things about her that no one else did. "Leah" she didn't breathe couldn't breathe and all he said was her name. She wouldn't look at him either if she did it would only confirm that what he knew was true that she loved him. For a long while they sat there in silence. Even though she was more than a little angry his presence soothed her. It warmed her heart to know that some part of him cared. "Leah" again with the name she thought. "Leah look at me" she glanced up at him from under her lashes. She looked in his gorgeous dark brown eyes and she almost had gotten lost. She was shocked at what she saw; Embry smiled as he gripped her chin in his hand and ever so slowly kissed her. His lips were soft and welcoming. She couldn't help it hot tears rolled down her cheeks. She tried to pull away and hide but Embry wouldn't let her, he only kissed her harder. A little while later he pulled away but kept his hands on her face his thumbs wiping away her tears. "Leah" he waited for me to look at him before he continued. "I love you too" Traitor tears slipped from her eyes as she crawled into his lap and he held her. Her only last thought was maybe I am a cry baby.
