In Loving Memory

By: Vampy Proxy

A growl. A gunshot.

The phone rang in an almost empty house. A delicate hand picked up the receiver.

"Hello," the ruby eyed young woman greeted. She paused as she listened to the baritone voice on the other end of the phone. Her lips parted in shock. "Thank you Vincent," she whispered.

When the shock settles, the sadness creeps in.

A few minutes later tears fell down her pale face, then the tears turned into sobs as she buried her face in her arms.

"Tifa? What's wrong?" Marlene asked from the doorway, Denzel right behind her.

Saying it makes it real.

"Nanaki, Red, he …went back to the lifestream…he died…" Tifa trailed off.

"Like the Flower Lady?" Marlene asked curiously.

Tifa smiled sadly, "Yeah, like the Flower Lady."

Marlene took a moment to digest this information, and then sat in Tifa's lap. The young girl cried into her mother figures shoulder.

"I'm gonna miss him," Marlene sobbed.

"I going to miss him too, sweetie," the woman said, tears still falling. Denzel went over and gave Tifa a hug, tears lining his eyes.

"Don't worry, he's with the Aeris, so he's not alone," Denzel said trying to comfort the two females. Tifa smiled and kissed him on the forehead.

"I love you two, you know that," Tifa said. The two children nodded.

"We love you too," Marlene said softly.
