Maximum Ride

We had rescued Bean that night. We were too late for her to keep her humanity. She was one of us now. She and Fang had been a couple for a while now, from before she was captured. I watched them from behind a cave wall now. Fang wrapped his arms around her and they kissed lightly for a few seconds. Fang got up, dusted his hands on his jeans, and grabbed Bean's hand to help her up. They hugged once more, then I ran so I wouldn't be caught spying. They never really showed 'PDA'. Sometimes Fang would squeeze her hand or Bean would rest her head on his shoulder for a second. They shared loving smiles, but never a ton of physical contact. Once I saw Nudge spying on them. I was going to scold her but then joined. They swayed softly to music that was playing, their eyes closed. I almost wanted to say "Awwww!", but then it'd give us away. Fang was somewhat of a mystery. Bean was the only one he really let into his emotions. I wasn't bothered by it, it was nice that he finally had someone to vent to, instead of just keeping all of his "feelings" bottled up. Wow. Now I sound really dumb. I thought. Fang and Bean came out. Bean smiled.

"Thank you. So much. Now, can someone teach me how to work these things?" She laughed as she unfurled her wings. Iggy, Fang, and I took her to the edge of the cave mouth and started to teach her the basics of flying. She was wobbly at first, but caught on quickly. While Fang helped Bean balance in the sky, I took the moment to admire her looks.

She had tan skin, the color of a pancake. [I know, it's a weird comparison.] She had long, brown ringlets that cascaded around her shoulders and down her back. She had big blue eyes and was small, like the rest of us.

Her and Fang landed lightly beside me.

"You guys make it seem a lot easier than it actually is." She said, out of breath.

"Don't worry" I smiled, "You'll get it!"

Then we all went inside for dinner.
