Challenge: bee, cello, tea, leaf

Catherine winced as she walked into her house after shift. Lindsey was learning the cello but at this point it just sounded like she was murdering a cat. It broke off suddenly when Lindsey came flying down the stairs. Catherine had to smile in spite of herself. Her little ball of fluff. Lily followed at a more sedate pace.

"Do you want me to drop her off at school?" her mother asked.

"Nah it's ok, I've got it," Catherine told her. "Thanks for watching her."

"It's ok," Lily said letting herself out.

"Mum look," the little girl said. Catherine looked down at her daughters finger. She was proudly sporting a band-aid.

"What happened to you?" she asked indulgently.

"I got stung by a bee but I didn't cry at all," Lindsey told her proudly.

"Brave girl," Catherine said, heading for the kitchen.

"Oh and Grandma said to tell you that you're out of coffee," Lindsey said following.

"Tea it is then," Catherine said reaching for the top shelf.

"Will you come and listen to me play?" Lindsey asked. Silently cursing the fact that her ears were likely to be ringing that night Catherine agreed.

"Cool!" Lindsey exclaimed running up to her room. Catherine took her time removing the tea-bag from her cup and turned to follow her daughter when she caught sight of a leaf rubbing stuck to her fridge with a magnet. She smiled. She just had to be patient. Lindsey would improve eventually…or give it up.
