Chapter 5

John saw Leon revealing a Girl from the parachute as he said, "It's that Girl." They finally succeeded in finding the girl but they were late she was maybe dead. He bent down and tried to feel the pulse in her neck. There was nothing as he was about to withdraw his hand he felt something it was the pulse, it was faint but she had it.

"She is still alive guys. Let's take her to hospital", John shouted with a little concern.

Percy signaled their chopper and with the help of stretcher she was on board and they got her to nearby hospital.

In the Hospital…

As Leon and John were waiting outside the examination room somebody screamed, "Where's the woman?", It was Rebecca, she was with David and was hardly able to keep her excitement down and John pointed towards the examination room, "I have authorized myself I am going in", said Rebecca as she immediately went into emergency room.

"She and I rushed here as soon as we found out you found the woman", David told them, "And we have also told the President about it." As he completed his sentence the door opened and they brought the girl out and took her somewhere. Rebecca was at last with a grim expression on her face.

"Hey she didn't die did she?!", Leon asked worriedly, he won't be able to bear anymore failures now.
"Uh… no, Uh she is perfectly fine", said Rebecca still grim face, "But that's what's bothering me. I think that she is infected", with these words everybody's expression changed.
"I'll stay here and make sure if she turns into them she gets no more with her", said Leon with determination.
"But she is not undergoing any mutations. It's like she is sleeping. She don't have any injuries not even scratches on her body and top of that its like she is in this condition for at least about 24 hours. This all doesn't make any sense I guess we have to wait until she gets up. They have taken her to VIP room on our request", she told them.
"Okay, Leon it's decided you're to keep an eye on her, since she's familiar with you. John will take over in the morning and Rebecca you stay here just in case", ordered David. They all nodded in agreement. Rebecca and Leon headed towards her room while John and David headed back to HQ.

"Well she sure is pretty", Leon looked to his side and saw Rebecca speaking.
"I don't clearly remember", he told her.
"You were the one to say this remember", she tried to cheer him up, "But I hope she is not infected or anything we have been searching for so long for her and now this has happened", she said being a bit positive.

"Yeah I can't believe it myself we're lucky and unlucky at the same time", Leon said smiling weakly.

They reached her room Leon made himself comfortable by sitting on one the loveseats in room and having his legs up on the small coffee table. While Rebecca checked her pulse once more. It was normal she informed him afterwards and then moved to get the details of her case. Leon removed his jacket and unequipped his shoulder holster, which had a pair of similar dual handguns, just to be a little more comfortable. He relaxed a bit and didn't realize when sleep took over.

When Leon woke up it was morning he was so tired that he didn't even had any nightmares that night. He checked on the girl, she was still sleeping then he checked his watch it was 8:00 in the morning. He walked to the washroom to wash his face. When opened the tap there was no water so he walked back. He saw a nurse coming in to check the girl.

"How's she?", he asked.
"She's fine, just sleeping", she answered looking at him from the corner of her eyes. He knew that look; women gave that look when they were flirting with him and didn't want to show that they were interested.
"So can you do me a favor and watch her for a minute. I just need to go find my Doctor friend", he asked her.
"Anything for you handsome", she replied and now shot a look at him.

Leon wanted to roll his eyes but didn't and without any further words he stepped out of the room. He stood there a bit wondering where Rebecca could be in this huge hospital. He took out his cell phone to call her and heard her cell phone ring inside the room. He disconnected the call and thought of checking up with the doctor that was handling the case. He moved to the office of the doctor, who was in charge of the case, knocked on the door and opened. He found Rebecca on one of the desk with a steaming cup of coffee reading some book totally absorbed in it.

"Hey Becky!", Leon called out to her.
"Oh Leon", she looked up at him a little startled.
"Can you come and check the girl and give an estimate when she's going to wake up?", Leon asked her.
She looked at her watch, "Oh sure, I was about to go there anyways", she said getting up and walking to him, "Let's go!" They made their in silence Leon thinking about all the questions he'd ask the woman, once she wakes up, "So did you sleep well last night?", Rebecca asked after a while.
"Yeah, I think so", he replied without looking at her. He knew he shouldn't be sleeping last night.
As if she read his mind she said, "Oh don't worry nothing happen and we ought to have our sleep too."
"Yeah", he said in response, "Hey I told you to wait till I come back", Leon shot at the nurse who was coming out of the room and she froze when he yelled at her. Now realizing that he was back he said, "Okay go on. It's alright."

The Nurse didn't say anything and started walking in the opposite direction.
"Leon!", shouted Rebecca from inside. He at once ran into the room. He saw that the patient was gone and in her place there was the nurse whom he had told to stay and the look after the woman before. He began thinking fast. In his absence the girl woke up, knocked the nurse out, switched places and escaped. It means that the nurse he just saw was the girl. This was going in his head within fraction of seconds. He lunged for his guns, one of them was gone.
"SHIT", he cursed out loud. Leon ran out of the room saw the elevator closing, "damn!"

It was going down he took the stairs checking elevator at every floor. He almost jumped the last flight of stairs and saw the elevator going down to the ground floor. Damn he was late he ran outside a woman in Nurse's clothes was very much distinguished in the crowd. But when he reached outside she was nowhere to be seen as if she just vanished in thin air.

"Hey kid what happened?" Leon felt a hand on his shoulder it was John.
"We lost her again!", Leon told him panting.
