Chapter 15

When Leon woke up next morning he had severe headache, 'gosh it feels like my head is gonna explode', he thought. He made his way to shower, 'maybe a good shower help to overcome it.' He took his shower and got dressed but it didn't help him, he still felt like someone whacked his head with a baseball bat. He got down and went to kitchen and opened the refrigerator but couldn't make out what was what because the pain was literally blinding him.

"Here have this", he heard John giving him something, "It'll will help."
"Thanks", Leon said grabbing whatever was in his hand and gulping without water, he was used to it. He at once felt better and felt the pain subside slowly.
"Now let's go or we'll be late", John said excitedly.
"Late for what its Sunday", Leon asked, for a change he had off today.
"Late to meet, Kathleen. Now c'mon let's move", John said pulling his arm.

They drove in silence to god knows where as John was driving and Leon wasn't paying attention. He wasn't even looking forward to meet Kathleen. He won't be able to meet her eyes, he felt guilty to have hurt her. He just wanted to help her, make her feel a little comfortable in his company but he ended up doing just the opposite. But what was he suppose to do when she was so cold and inconsiderate about their concern for her. He somehow felt that Kathleen didn't care about them as much as they cared about her and for reason that made him feel bad and then that feeling of missing something important would pop up and tell him that things weren't as they seem they were.

"We're here", John said as he parked his car in the parking. They got out and Leon saw that he was in fact standing in the parking of his own workplace i.e. The HQ of US Government Agency. They made their way to their discussion room. When he and John opened the door to the room, everybody looked at them expectantly, possibly hoping that it was Kathleen. John just smiled at them while Leon made his way to closest chair and slouched on it. There was pin-drop silence in the room and Leon didn't bother to greet or even look at anyone. Then suddenly the door opened and a woman walked inside Leon didn't bother to look up at her but he knew it was a woman from the sound of footsteps. She walked hurriedly and she stopped where he was and then said, "Leon this is for you, arrived this morning. And my apologies I wouldn't have interrupted if it didn't said urgent", Leon looked up and it was Ingrid Hunnigan his communication support and supervisor when he went to mission. He unwilling took the envelope from her and mumbled thanks, "And yeah the person who delivered it said that that you read it aloud to everyone."

Leon reluctantly opened the envelope and started reading.

Hi, everyone!

I think I won't be making an personal appearance but don't worry this letter will answer all the questions you have and I know the little Doc of yours should have gone through the files and will be able to help you along the way. To tell you the truth as far as I know Wesker is alive and as always he's been trying to make the ultimate BOW. He's been trying to join the t-virus, g-virus and all sort of virus and parasites that you know very well.

The vials which you have are the advanced sample of each type of viruses or parasite. The red one is Urobros, purple is Las-Plagas, green and blue are T and G-virus respectively. They are not harmful if they are kept as they are now. They also can be used make to vaccine, as I did before for Sherry. However I took longer to administer that vaccine, so therefore Sherry won't be just a normal human again and have some superhuman abilities but rest all assured she won't undergo any further mutations. I believe in time you'd be able to make a vaccine as well with the help from the contents of the file, I handed over to you before.

About the bomb we encountered at your base. It was developed by one of the Wesker's researchers using the notes by Dr. Griffith but made it safer for handling. And next time you infiltrate have vaccines with you 'cause the guards there would be having this bio-weapon which Leon witnessed being used on me earlier.. It was also developed by the same researcher and it isn't complete but it still is dangerous. It doesn't leave wounds which makes it difficult to treat the victim of the weapon but its vaccine, is hidden in the briefcase which you already have. So use it well and try to multiply it as it can be useful 'cause it seems that the terrorists have got their hands on the bomb through the black market and it won't be long that those viral guns make their way in the black market as well. I hope Leon knows what to do to get the vials out of the bomb just do it before you diffuse any bombs which have vials attached to them.

I rescued Sherry because I never wanted her to be trapped with Wesker and everyone. I didn't want her to end like I did. And if you are thinking how do I know this much, well every creator knows what he/she created. Yes I was the brain behind all this. I've been that very researcher who was appointed to join all the DNA strands of the concerned species. But I just couldn't do it, so I ran away; ran far, far away from it. But I left my logs and files which my father is using to complete the job I left 10 years ago.

And now I must finish what I started and end it once and for all. If I am successful I'd put a stop to Wesker's plans and buy you enough time, so you can wipe these viruses off the black market. I trust you to do this on my behalf because I don't have the means to do it all alone. Just consider it as my last wish.

"What does she mean by 'my last wish'?", John said.

"There's no time, Percy start that tracking device you set on her before and find her we all are going after her", David shouted and everybody exited out of the room to make preparation.

"Leon you are coming right", John said standing at the door. Leon read the last line of letter one more time.

"Yeah!", Leon said with smile on his face thinking that not hope has been lost with Kathleen and if time permits, they can still help her out.

Soon after Percy had found her location they followed her there. Percy hacked the security system of some mansion so they could reach underground labs. They killed many guards and successfully passed through BOW security. It was so easy for them. But they didn't doubt it for a moment and straight away fell into the trap. And now they were standing before Wesker with a lady standing by his side wearing red clothes.

"ADA!", Leon called out to her
"So, this is Ada", John said looking at her. He was not alone everybody looked at her.

"Well, well welcome to our lab", Wesker said in his cool calm tone.
"He looks different then before", Jill said taking him in details.
"Thinking about my looks eh? Well you see when you had a fight with me in Africa I almost died but thanks to Prof. Cornor here I was saved. And I believe you've met his daughter", he said in matter-of-fact tone.

Leon couldn't help but shout back "Where is she?"
"Is she here?", Wesker asked as a line of amazement ran across his face.
"Well that's why we're here", John yelled back to him.

"Professor, I knew that rage of her was not good and I also knew you weren't helping her by making her go through all those combat training plus she's the creator. And you very well know those who create can also destroy. And she has done enough already. That daughter of yours is a nothing but a nuisance", Wesker said to the researcher by his side but it was quite audible.

"Yeah I know. I must have killed her when I killed her mother but I thought she was more like me. I think Ms. Wong would take pleasure in making her feel at home. Ms. Wong please if it's not bothering you", said Prof. Cornor to Ada and he started speaking to Wesker again, "Sir may I've the pleasure of introducing our new friend with our unexpected guests", and his eyes gleamed.

"Don't you dare Dad", Kathleen shouted from somewhere.
"Oh your daughter is in control room. Ms. Wong you know what to do", Wesker said and Ada at once followed his orders.
"I see you haven't changed at all", Kathleen's voice came again.
"And you are same as always", Wesker said, "I am giving you one last chance come out or I'll make hell loose on your friends", he threatened her.
"Oh you think so?", she laughed a bitter laugh.
"You think you're funny, eh?", her Dad shouted at her.
"No, I was just laughing at the stupid spy of yours", she replied from somewhere.
"She's not in control room Wesker", Ada voice sounded as Kathleen's sound.
"And you're always as smart as before", Wesker said grinning to no one in particularly.
"Girl get out where you are or your friends will pay", her father gnarled at her.

"Oh Daddy you're a spoil sport as ever", she revealed herself from somewhere up as two guards bodies came crashing to the ground. She leaned on the railing to have a good view, "And now that I have revealed myself you won't do anything to them?", she continued smiling at his father.

Her father smiled at her then pressed some button and he and Wesker ran to safety. The side doors, which was the way out closed, trapping them in the wide space with their security guards, the guards quickly dropped their weapons and ran to the doors and started beating it to let them out.

"I don't like the feel of this", John said. They all agreed and readied their weapons and stood in circle with their back against each other as they heard loud thumping from all directions. Soon they were surrounded by an advanced tyrant, an uglier Nemesis, a big el-Gigante with a couple of zombies, Lickers and hunters.
"I missed them so much", Jill stated sarcastically, firing the first shot.
"Yeah me too", Leon said joining her and everybody joined them.
"Chris, Ark, Bruce deal with the tyrant; Jill, Carlos and Sheva you go after nemesis; Leon, Claire and John take care of the giant; Billy and Barry takedown the hunters with me and rest go after Lickers and zombies", David barked, "don't engage yourself with whom you haven't dealt with before."
"Which you haven't dealt with before", Leon corrected him.
"And by the way I don't know any of them except that one, it looks like your previous girlfriend from S.R.T.", John said to Leon as he pointed to an el-Gigante.
"David we can't hold on much longer you know, one blow and we are down because they don't play by the rules", Chris said firing at an oncoming Tyrant.
"Yeah, it's good that Wesker didn't focus much on their IQ and we don't have to go after him since he keeps coming to kill us", Jill said dodging the Nemesis tentacles.

After a while those who were engaging themselves with zombies, licker and hunters were finished and were helping to finish the BOW Trio, when they heard a growl and a loud thump and then it appeared the Monster King of the monsters. It was as big as el-Gigante, as scary as nemesis and as vicious as the tyrant and it looked like it was the ultimate Bio-Weapon.

"We need a plan", David said.
"Yeah but you're the one with brains", John said as tried to dodge the el-Gigante's kick.
"We're running out of ammo, we can't take them all", Chris said.
"Use these", Kathleen called from above and threw some weird guns which they have seen but haven't used before and then shot at new and most scary BOW from her position and it fell to the ground causing the loud thud, "he won't get up, use the weapon on others", she called.

Everybody heeded her advice and shot with the new weapons at the BOW, they were defeated as if they were like some human would have been by ordinary guns. They all looked at each other in astonishment and saw that everyone was safe.

"Now it's my turn Dad", Kathleen said and a couple of picture appeared on screen showing deceased BOW from the past in Oasis.
"Don't do it Kathleen!", his father snarled.
"Too late I've already done it", she smirked at her father.
The sirens went on and a cool female voice spoke between the sirens spoke, "Self destruct sequence have been activated all personnel evacuate immediately."
"Stop that now bitch", her father yelled.
"Father you very well know how the self destruct sequence works, once activated it cannot be stopped", she smiled at her father victoriously.

Kathleen disappeared as suddenly as she has appeared leaving everybody to panic. Wesker and her father ran through some gate and everybody followed him.

"I won't let him live this time", Chris said to himself and to everybody else. They ran in some corridor and no one encountered them and they once again reached some hall just following the corridor. And they saw Kathleen was standing in front of one the oasis tube, the other tubes they saw already destroyed. She was about push the button.
"No don't", Jill shouted instinctively but she already had pushed the button and the fluid from the tube was draining and everybody readied their weapon.

"Nobody shoots, just leave him to me", Kathleen said as the water drained and the creature which was inside the tube fell to the ground and whimpered, she bent down and shot something to it and then said, "Give me that cloth, you won't like it when he returns to its original form neither would he", she pointed towards the cloth at the examination table. John crumbled it at and threw it at her and she covered the previous BOW which was slowly converting to a red haired boy with it.

"Where am I", the boy said groaning and coughing.
"Steve? Steve you're alive. I thought I lost you", Claire shouted happily and ran forwards hugging him. Then suddenly from nowhere the same new BOW appeared with Wesker, Prof. Cornor and Ada.
"I won't lose to you, this time", Ada said as she lunged towards Kathleen throwing a punch.

Wesker tackled previous S.T.A.R.S. members single handedly whereas other tackled the New BOW. Since the weapon which Kathleen had given previously was almost out, they were having a hard time tackling both Wesker and the BOW. Leon tried to fight with Ada, who was keeping him from joining his friends. The rest of the gang divided and tried to keep both Wesker and BOW, away from Kathleen as she mixed random viruses to create something. She quickly readied something and shot Wesker with it with a little difficulty because of his lightening speed. He stopped to pull the vial off his arm and with an incredible force pushed Chris away and collapsed on the floor. The previous S.T.A.R.S. member couldn't help but smile at each other seeing that Wesker was finished for once and for all but their smiles didn't last long as his grand experiment was still running lose and they at once moved to deal with him.

Kathleen loaded up the mix of virus serum in the again and targeting the BOW but before she could shoot it down, she felt an ominous presence behind her. She dropped her gun turning to tackle the man who was none other than her own father. She struggled with him for a while as they both tried to get control of the gun he was holding on to. Kathleen however managed to seize the gun off him and he fell to the floor.

"You can't kill me I am your father", he said, "Kathleen darling listen to me I am your daddy" she lowered her gun and looked down taking this opportunity he took a piece of glass from the tube and lunged at her with an intent to kill and managed to stab her. He laughed hysterically, "See you can never win with your father. Is it painful?", he asked.
Kathleen was feeling the pain which her father has caused not by the piece of glass but in the years in which she stayed with him, "You were never my father, my father died long ago when you worked on him. I never saw you as a father", she said trying to ignore the pain from her wound and aimed the gun at her step-father.
"Kathleen, you knew and you hated me?", her father said in astonishment.
"Yeah, I knew. I knew mum married you because of me and I didn't like you from the beginning and when you killed my mother I started hating you", she replied in pain and punched him hard and he fell to the floor. She again pointed her gun at him.
Sensing that his death was near her father asked, "I don't deserve to ask this question but was I a good father?"
"No", she said and shot him.

Leon looked in Kathleen's direction at the sound of gunshot, just to see her collapse to the ground and then he noticed the weapon that would kill the now threatening BOW lying next to her, "John it's there on the floor use it on the BOW", he yelled as he fought with Ada. She was good but not as good as Kathleen, "so tell me Ada have you fought Kathleen?" he asked.

"Yes why?", she replied in a cool calm tone like always.
"Because I've fought with her and you know she fights better", he said trying to instigate her and that did the trick and made Ada furious and she lunged at him losing her calm and he over powered her and pointed his gun on her head but at the same time she pointed her gun at his stomach.
"You can't shoot me, you're in love with me", Ada said smiling at him and Leon knew it was the truth, he still had strong feelings for Ada, although their motives differ and they were always on the opposite ends of the bridge but it was a fact that she had saved his life and helped him a lot and also that he still couldn't let go off her.
"Leon! Look out!", someone yell to him and he looked sideways as new BOW collapsed and Leon barely had time to jump out of his way pulling Ada with him.

They landed hard on the floor and Leon looked down at Ada. She was injured and knocked unconscious with her head bleeding but she was alive. And then heard a gunshot and looked in the direction just to see Kathleen had shot her father. He saw John run to her aid and tried to shake her a bit and lifted her over his shoulder, "Leon there's no time let's go!", John yelled to him and Leon gave him a nod and lifted Ada in his arms and made a run for the exit with the rest of the gang.

They all hurried to the nearest hospital to treat their wounds and to get Kathleen and Ada some medical attention as they both were fatally injured. It didn't seem so in Ada's case at first but she had hit her head really hard and lost too much blood same as Kathleen. They both were immediately taken to surgery to close up their wounds. After a couple of hours of surgery, they brought both of out and took their unconscious form away.

"How's she?", John asked Rebecca when she walked out, referring to Kathleen.
"How are they?", Leon asked about both the women.

"They both slipped into coma, Ada's condition is more stable, we suspect she'd wake up within a few days and the doctor's are ready to monitor but Kathleen condition is critical she lost too much blood", Rebecca told them with a grim expression, "The Doctors declared her dead but I protested their decision and asked them to monitor Kathleen as well since her heart was beating but they say it's only the machines that's keep her alive. But luckily a few senior Doctors considered my request and gave Kathleen some time on life support."

"So we can't do anything?", David asked with the same expression as Rebecca.
"No", she replied shaking her head sadly.
"Think Becky maybe we can do something", Claire said not ready to give up just yet.
"Yeah, she's alive I mean her heart is still beating, right?", Leon said feeling concerned. He still has to know Kathleen more and still wanted to be together with Ada.
"No, during the surgery her heart stopped and we have to get it started, that is why they don't want to give her another chance, because all major organs are being supported by machine", Rebecca told them.

"I wanna stay with her in her last few hours", Leon said realizing the seriousness of the situation. He wasn't that much concerned about Ada because Doctors believed she'd wake up but Kathleen was a different case. Kathleen had really help them out and by staying by her bed side he wanted to pay her all the respect she deserved from him as a friend, that he could never be or won't ever get the chance to be.
"Leon she's gonna wake up buddy", John said, "this is Kat we are talking, she's just faking her death you know how she is."

"Yes, that's why I want to stay with her cause back in the chopper when we were traveling here to hospital she said goodbye and when I told her she's gonna make it she said that she knows that she's lost a lot of blood and first her breathing will stop then without oxygen her brain will stop working which will cause her heart to beat faster which will increase her BP and then she'll have an cardiac arrest than they (Doctors) would start her heart again but she'll have slipped into coma by then. Isn't it what happen Becky", Leon spoke very fast and completed in one breath asking Rebecca about her prediction.

"Yes", she nodded slowly.
"And then finally she said that she's gonna… but then she became unconscious", Leon completed.
"Leon I can talk to President to ask the officials to prolong their observation period, don't be disheartened", David said keeping a hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah I'll plead to the BSAA officials to pressurize the government as well, we all will", Jill said trying to make him feel better.
"Whatever, I am gonna go see her. It's the least I can do for her as a friend", Leon said and moved to find her room.

Leon went to the reception and asked the lady sitting there for Kathleen's room number and she asked him if he was family he replied negative. She told him he cannot meet her plus she's in I.C.U. so he was not allowed to see her and to top that she was in coma so it doesn't matter if he sees her or not. Leon being annoyed a little resisted the urge to slap her and held out his VIP ID looking at which she called her authorities to ask permission. Then she told that he needed paperwork to see her and pointed him in Dean's office's direction.

It took him almost the whole day to get the paperwork done. It made him drive between his Agency's Office, White House and hospital. But at last he was walking to where Kathleen was kept with a nurse who was giving him flirting looks every now and then but he was not interested at all. He would have stopped her but he only wanted to be by Kathleen now. The nurse turned to a corner and walked to the end and held the door open for him.

Leon entered the dark room; it was silent except the periodic beeping sounds of the machine. Kathleen was lying on the bed with various life supporting and monitoring machines attached to her. He knew she never got anything wrong but this time only this time he would be happy if she was wrong. He took hold of her hand and couldn't help but say," Story of my life", getting the same feeling of inadequacy that he was missing out something very important and if Kathleen won't wake he'd never know what this feeling meant.
