A/N: typed while watching the finale. MAJOR spoilers.
"You said it yourself Fiona, maybe it's time you went your own way."
The words nearly destroyed them then, and he felt, rather than saw, the pain in her eyes. He knew that was probably the cruelest thing he'd ever said to her, ever done to her.
But it was also the kindest thing he'd ever be able to do.
He'd never imaged that she'd come after him.
"I knew the moment I met him. Good-bye Jesse."
Fiona felt the cold sink into her, the knowledge of what was right. She was going to be with him until the end.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"What does it look like?"
The determination, the grit, the steel in her eyes gave him the knowledge of what they meant to each other.
"You know, I'm tired of you making all the decisions in this relationship."
Hell, she'd let him decide too long.
It was time for them to face the music.
"You don't have to be here, you-"
"What run? When it's time, we do this together."
It had always been that way- they were always for each other, with each other, even when one of them walked away.
The explosion rocked the earth, and they didn't dare to hope.
The calvary had arrived, just in the nick of time.
She couldn't help but laugh as she leaned towards him, mirth filling her, the sheer elation of being alive and together filling them as they sat there, in that measly shelter.
"Your girlfriend, she's crazy about you. Take care of her."
Michael didn't need to tell Jesse or Fiona, they already knew.
Sometimes, it takes near death and adventure to bring two people together.
Other times, you didn't need that. You already knew.
Michael smiled as he walked away.
It was always nice to have that confirmed. He just wished that he had taken the chance to kiss her when he had the chance.
"Michael. Welcome back."
The words were all he wanted.
But why did he just want to be with her?
