"God, even though that you are frightened, let us accept that all things end. Even though it is sad, let us accept that life ends. God, even though it was a short time, I was happy being by your side. If I were to die and be reborn, and meet you again, the next time rather than in the moonlight, I'd like to see you smile in the sunlight." - Fruits Basket.
Chapter One
'Even though your heart is sad, may your happiness be preserved for the future.' I kissed my Grandfather's forehead. His words drowned me from the inside, his pale face seeming to grow further away from mine.
'I love you Ojichan.' I watched as he closed his eyes, this time for real. 'Oji-Ojichan? D.. Don't go!' I watched as my mother placed her hand on her father's forehead. He giggled. If it wasn't for him being in hospital, I'd probably hit him.
'Stupid Chichi!' I heard my father mutter from the corner, before pacing out of the room. 'Only sleeping... Stupid Chichi...' The nurses gazed in at us, probably to check if father had done something wrong, like last time. He dripped over a cord, running into the monitor, forcing the alarms to go off.
'Pfft. Stupid Chichi...' I giggled quietly to my own father. As much as my mother and father were hopeless, I wouldn't be able to survive without them.
Somebody stood at the door, and I realised at once who it was. 'Madorenu-Chan?'
'Akito-San!' I ran to Akito to give her a hug. Akito was like my aunty, and somewhere along the family tree, probably was relatively close to one.
'Come, I have a gift for you.' My father stood at the door, and I was dragged along by Akito. 'Hello, Kyo-Kun.' She smirked at him.
'Tohru?' I watched as he disappeared into the hospital room, then two faces poke out the doorway. How strange. Akito rarely gives "gifts". Would Shigure-San know? Questions pounded around my head, and I couldn't stop them. It was almost as if everyone could hear my thoughts, their stares impatient for an answer.
We plopped into the car with Shigure, and he gave me a hug, handing me a Bento Box. 'Hungry? Oh well. Eat up!' He giggled, before tapping the gas.
