"So what's with the new suit?" Vega asked quietly as she wheeled her chair up to Wiley's.
The young agent gave himself the once over, his confusion clear.
"What new suit? I don't have a new suit?"
She rolled her eyes "Not you, Jane."
Wiley glanced in the direction of the slumbering mentalist, taking in his neat, tidy three piece suit. The man looked a picture of sophistication, if you discarded his warn shoes.
"Oh, that suit."
"It's like he's gone from beach bum to dapper gentleman in the space of a couple of weeks - though if you ask me, he could use a tie as well. And maybe an attitude adjustment."
"Well," Wiley continued, "apparently he used to wear them when he Lisbon and Cho worked together. Cho's been telling Jane to clean up his act since he arrived here a year ago."
"Really…"
"Yeah, he didn't even wear socks when he started here. Lisbon bought him some. See those ratty things he's wearing? He wears them every day."
Vega grimaced, "He does wash them though, right?"
"Do you smell anything?"
She shrugged. "So why the sudden change?"
"My guess? Lisbon…"
"What? Are they…."
"Yes.. no… I mean, I don't really know."
"Wow. But you suspect…"
Wiley glanced at Jane's sleeping form. "Well, I can't be sure, but she did leave her fiancé and give up a huge job in DC to keep working with him."
"Really?"
"Yeah, and apparently he stopped a plane. Like, she was on the plane, about to go and marry this guy in DC and then… suddenly she didn't. But it's like this thing that's not spoken about. You don't mention Pike, you don't mention DC, you don't mention the plane. It's like it didn't even happen."
"What does Cho say?"
Wiley looked surreptitiously at their supervisor before turning back to Vega. "Cho says, Lisbon and Jane are a soap opera I don't want to get involved in"
"Huh. That does sound like him…."
"Yeah…."
"They show no sign of anything.. if there's something going on, they're good…"
The two young agents scurried apart as Teresa Lisbon wandered back in the office, two cups in hand.
They watched as she set one down on her desk, before sitting beside Jane on his couch, touching his arm lightly and whispering something to him.
The mentalist broke into a grin, laughing loudly enough to distract Cho from his paperwork for a fraction of a second, before he shook his head and went back to his work.
Jane's hand covered Lisbon's lightly as he took the offered tea - Lisbon looking over to Cho to see if he was still watching as she drew her hand back.
She smiled at the consultant, quickly shifting to sit in her desk, back to him, but still clearly happy with their exchange seconds before.
"You know what, Wiley?" Vega whispered, frustrated that she hadn't heard their shared words.
"What?"
"Now that I know what I know, I think these two are going to be a lot of fun to watch."
