Training

*Gabriel's POV*

"I … I can't move. Why can't I move ... Where am I … What's happening …" Suddenly a bright light filled the skies and everything started to become blurry, then things became clear. I'm standing on a beautiful beach. "Why am I here?" I look around only to see something that I want to see last. The Incinerator. She has this twisted evil look on her smiling face. I can't move again! But this time I know why. It was fear that made me freeze. I … I was afraid of her, she calmly lifted her palm in my direction. My heart skipped a beat and my eyes widened as she fired a glowing orb. Except it zoomed past me, missing me by about an inch. I immediately turned around to see what she hit and that's when I saw it. She shot Seth instead.

"Seth!" I shouted as my eyes opened. I looked over to my right to see Seth snoring in a messy position in his bed. "It was just a dream … no … it was that dream. Why have I been having these messed up dreams lately! Could it be that I want Seth to die? No. He's my best friend." He looks over to Seth again. "But then why? What could these dreams mean?"

*End of Gabriel's POV*

On their way to the head master's office the 6 fighters had talked about how they want to confront Ambrose about what's going on, but Gabriel was stuck in his own world. He was wondering why lately both Seth and the Incinerator had been in all of his dreams. He had become lost in thought as the others started to call him to bring him back from his thoughts.

"Hey Gabriel, are you listening?" Destiny asked snapping her fingers in front of him.

"Oh, sorry no. What were you guys talking about?"

"Geez Gabriel, lately you haven't been paying much attention to anything really. Is everything alright?" Seth asked curiously.

"Yea I'm fine, it's just … something's been really making me wonder about that girl. The Incinerator."

"It's ok Gabriel, I'm afraid of her to."

"I never said I was afraid."

"Unless you've got a crush on her or something then it's fear. Face the reality Gabriel, you're afraid to aren't you?" Seth asked stopping in front of the headmaster's tower. The wind whistled as it breezed past them.

"I- I guess I am afraid."

"It's alright to be afraid Gabriel, it's only a part of our nature. So don't beat yourself up for being afraid alright?" Seth said reassuring Gabriel. They opened the door to the headmaster only to find that he wasn't there. They looked around the whole tower but he was nowhere to be found. They shrugged at each other and walked back to Ravenwood. Once back at the schools they saw Ambrose talking to Bartleby

"Ah there you are." The headmaster said with a grin on his face.

"There you are headmaster, we've been looking for you."

"Ah, my apologies. I was just speaking to Bartleby about some training."

"Training? For who and why?" Jack asked curiously.

"For you 6 of course! Marleybone is an entirely different world from ours or Krokotopia's. The evil forces there are much more powerful there than both Wizard City and Krokotopia combined! I want all of you to find your teachers and train with them. You may not go to Marleybone until your training is complete." The headmaster explained. They all nodded and went off to find their teachers.

"Ah so I see you're finally going to Marleybone hmm? Well then I will become your mentor of life." Professor Wu started. "To begin your training, I want you to show me the most powerful attack you can do."

"On what?" Seth asked confused at what to attack at.

"I want you to test out your power on me, this way I can judge how powerful you are for sure." Professor Wu said.

"Well, if it's for my training then ok." Seth began charging his power and the room started to glow. He spun his wand out of his pouch and started to give the energy to his wand. Professor Wu just stood there staring at how much his powers improved since he first met her. After charging Seth looked up and swung his wand towards her and a ball green energy was blasted at high speed towards her. She stretched her arm out and took a full on collision with Seth's attack but to his surprise she was completely fine. "How did you-" Seth started.

"You held back on your attack. This is not a game Seth, you have to unleash your power, ALL of it. Now try again and this time, don't hold back." He was stunned that Professor Wu was able to take such a direct hit from his most powerful attack, but she was right. He calmed down and started to charge up again. This time with all of his power. He shut his eyes and clenched his fist. After about a minute or 2 of charging he opened his eyes and fired the same green ball of energy with all his power. Professor Wu once again blocked the attack but she was a bit more satisfied with the results. "Now we're getting somewhere."

"What makes you think I should just drop everything I'm doing and teach you proper myth hmm?" Professor Drake said to Gabriel.

"Because I need to learn! You are the teacher and I am the student, what else is there to ask?" Gabriel said in protest.

"Why should I teach you? What makes you think you're so special that I'll just teach you Myth just like that?"

"I don't know. But that's what I hope to find out through this training. I want to know if I can really call myself a Myth wizard." He started to look at the ground clenching his fists and gritting his teeth. He looked back up to Professor Drake and said "So that I can know if I'm even worthy enough to defeat Malistare."

"Well then" Professor Drake started "We'll just have to find out together now won't we?"

"So you need to learn Death from the best hmm?" Malorn asked

"Yes and most people say they learn from you so-" Sabrina starts but Malorn quickly cuts her off.

"Sorry I can't help you. But there is someone else who can teach you." He started. Sabrina asked who but he only pointed down. She looked down in the giant hole and saw the Death school underneath part of Wizard City. She jumped down sliding on the near absolute vertical dirt until she landed on the broken concrete of the entrance in front of the Death school. She took a deep breath and entered the building only to find a hunch back looking man with a black cloak over him with a lantern.

"Hello and welcome to the Death school! My my, it's been quite a while since I've had a visitor. My name is Dworgyn the assistant for the Death school, but no worries, I can teach anything you need to know." He sounded welcoming and kind.

"I heard that you can train the Death students once they passed Malorns level, is that true?" Sabrina asked.

"Of course, I see you need the training immediately then hmm?"

"Yes I do."

"Well then let's get started." He says and takes her wand.

"Hey! What are you doing!" She yells.

"I see you lack the first rule of Death. The first rule is what's yours is mine" He smiles and tosses back the wand. "The second rule is to make anything your opponent has into your own strength. You have much to learn young one."

"So then, you want to know more about the art of Fire hmm?" Professor Falmea asks.

"Yes, I need to learn as much as I can about the powers of Fire. I realize that if Connor and the others hadn't come to help us then we would be dead right about now. But first I'd like you to tell me something first."

"What is it?"

"Did you train the 'Incinerator'?" he looked down as he asked this question. Professor Falmea stood there surprised that Jack would even ask such a question. After a brief pause she finally answered.

"When she was a little girl I taught her the basics of Fire magic, that's all I did for her. She developed more power than even I have. It's frightening to see what your choices in life can lead up to." She said.

"Very well then, now that I know that I can start training with a clear mind." Jack said with a smile.

"So dear, how are you liking being an ice wizard?" Professor Greyrose asked.

"It's great but putting that aside I need you to start teaching me more advanced ice magic. Headmaster Ambrose says I will need it before I travel into Marleybone."

"Indeed you will! So far up until now you have been saved or have been lucky enough to survive these battles with the help of new friends."

"Now that I look back on it you're right. The skeletal pirate we needed Nia, then we needed Brianna, then …" she thought for a moment and basically every major fight they needed a stronger companion to save them. "Does this mean we are still as weak as when we fought those skeletons?!" Jocelyn started to panic as she realized they always needed someone's help.

"No that's not true at all! In fact if you were to go back and fight all 5 of those skeletons at once, you would win with barley any scratches on you! No matter what as long as you progress through these fights you will notice what you're doing wrong or what they're strength and weaknesses are! You will improve with every fight, noticing anything that you may be doing wrong or if the enemy is stronger somehow." Professor Greyrose said starting to comfort Jocelyn again.

"I see, but no matter what I can't risk anything like when we almost lost both Connor and Gabriel, we just weren't strong enough."

"Now then, shall we begin your training?"

"Yes please."

"So you need to learn the true power of Storm hmm?" Professor Balestorm started "Well then prepare yourself for an intense training session which is a guarantee to make you sore, you won't be receiving any easy training, is that understood?"

"Yes sir!" Destiny replied very happy for the upcoming training.

With that they all began their advanced training for Marleybone. Whether it was intense physical/magic training, meditation, or just simple lessons this is what they had endured in about 4 weeks. They were taught the meaning of their own school and what it means to be a wizard from that school. They sparred with their teachers using magic and their own physical abilities to truly know what it means to break your limitations and begin to overcome your weaknesses. With each day that past by their endurance, strength, speed, magic, and even their will power had increased. Until finally the 4 weeks of intense training had finally past and they only had one more day of training left.

"Hey guys, I'm back!" Seth yelled but Jack and Gabriel were already knocked out on their beds. The training usually lasted from 1 p.m. to about 8 p.m. every day. Seth sighed as he got into his bed and said "Just hang in there guys, one more day of this and it's done. He fell asleep shortly afterwards. But a dark presence fell upon the room. An evil aura started to appear but vanished quickly.

"Ah today's the last day of training!" Destiny said as she woke up with a smile on her face. She looked over to her left to find that Sabrina and Jocelyn still in their bunk bed asleep. Destiny turned her head to see what the time was. It was 11:30 so she quickly woke up the others and got ready for the final day of training. After everyone in the team had gotten ready they all went to training and separately went into the schools towers.

"Good afternoon Professor Wu." Seth greeted

"Good afternoon to you as well Seth. Listen, since today is the final day of training I want you to go down to the Arena for a quick bit, I'll meet you down there shortly." She said. Seth left and went down to the Arena only to find the others there as well.

"Hey guys, what are you doing here?" Seth asked suspiciously.

"We were all told by our teachers to come down and meet them at the arena, I'm guessing it's the same with you?" Jack explained. They all tried to figure out why they were sent to the Arena, could it be for a special day of training? After a few minutes all of the instructors had arrived.

"Seth, I want you to come down to the Arena with me." Professor Wu said. They both went down to the Arena and the others sat down in the bleachers watching wondering what would happen next. "Seth, after this your training will officially be over, but if you do not pass this final test then you can't go to Marleybone without another 4 weeks of training." Seth's eyes widened at this and he began sweating. He knew Professor Wu was not the type of person who would play a joke so he knew she was serious. "Same goes with the rest of your team, if even one cannot pass this then the entire team will be held back." Everyone was absolutely shocked when they heard this but they continued to listen. "For your final exercise, all of you will be fighting us in a 1v1 match." Everyone then looked at their teachers who had all nodded their heads. "Get ready everyone, this will be no walk in the park." Professor Wu says as she ready's herself for the battle. Seth takes a stance as well as Diego comes in.

"The rules are simple! First one to admit defeat or passes out will lose the match! You must fight fair or not fight at all!" Diego announces. "Now let the match … BEGIN!" soon after Diego finished Moolinda rushes at Seth who then takes a defensive position. He then closes his eyes and listens to how fast she is approaching. He then opens his eyes to see her about to strike but he blocks the attack and swiftly moves behind her to strike her back but she got her fan out of her pocket and blew a giant gust of wind in his direction. She then saw the opportunity to strike Seth and so she charged at him tackling him. It was a direct hit, or so it appeared. Seth was up in the air falling directly towards Professor Wu who was now looking for him.

"I don't understand, what just happened?" Jocelyn asked.

"Seth used the mystic duplicate technique, this skill is handy for situations like this." Professor Greyrose said.

"But when did he use it?"

"You were focused on Professor Wu weren't you?" Jocelyn nodded at this. "When she used her fan, it covered her vision on Seth for a short amount of time, that's when he ran straight out of her field of vision and up into the air. But this technique has a major weak point in which Seth thought of, and that's because the technique becomes just an image of the person, not doing anything else." She looked back at Seth who was charging an attack as he fell straight towards Moolinda. He then pulled out his wand and began storing the energy in it just as he did when the training first began.

"BANE OF LIFE!" he shouted as he fell towards Moolinda who now realizes where Seth is. She prepared herself for the green energy ball that she knew was coming towards her but Seth never unleashed it. Instead he tossed his wand to the side as he got closer and the energy ball formed in his hand. Moolinda was shocked by this and this time she didn't know how to defend against an attack like this. She braced herself as Seth attacked and a cloud of dust appeared covering the entire arena. Everyone coughed as they blew the dust away only to find that they were both still standing with major injuries mostly on Professor Wu. Both were out of breath and rested for a bit.

"I admit Seth, you've improved so much more than when we first met. You earned a passing grade, judging from my current status I can't even fight anymore. Congratulations Seth, you pass." Seth smiled at this and fell backwards in relief.

From the top of the Arena walls, 2 people watched the match. One of whom we're already familiar with.

"So then, Seth won huh? Nice! But I wonder how the others will do."

"You'll know in time Connor. But for now, let's just watch the rest of them fight."

"Heh, you already know the outcome of everything, it's not even fair."

"Well, it's not all fun and games knowing what will happen in the future. Sometimes I have to fix what has gone wrong."

"That's why you came back isn't it?"

"Correct. I can also assure you that you have a bit more than 2 years before the Incinerator tries to take over Wizard City but" He started "she's not even the real threat. No the real threat by now hasn't even awoken yet."

"What do you mean? Is there any way I can stop it before it actually does wake up?"

"No, if you try that then the spiral will be thrown into absolute chaos."

"Can you at least tell me who or what it is?"

"It's him Connor." He then points down toward Seth.

"Wait he's the one who saves the spiral or destroys it?"

"Yes."

"… Freaking smart ass." Connor says under his breath.
