Hey guys! I think it's time to post yet another chapter!

Enjoy!

A Living Legend

"Alright Gabriel, you're up next!" said Professor Drake. They both got up out of their seats and made their way down to the arena. As the 2 were getting ready to fight, Connor had asked a question to the mystery man.

"By the way, who is the Incinerator really?"

"What do you mean by that? You've heard the story haven't you?"

"Yes but she looks so familiar, I can't put my finger on it."

"You'll know who she really is in about 2 or so more years Connor, you'll just have to be patient." Connor looked at him and looked back at the arena.

"If you say so." Diego made sure the 2 of them were ready as they got into a battle stance.

"Are you ready?" both of them nodded "Then BEGIN!" Gabriel knew he had to keep his distance from his professor and needed to attack from a range. Professor Drake saw through Gabriel's strategy and rushed up towards Gabriel, throwing him off. Once close in range Drake teleported right behind Gabriel, surprising him once again.

"Earthquake." Is all he said as he pushed the ground in front of him causing the ground to tremble and even the entire arena. This caused Gabriel to trip and open for attacks. Drake showed no mercy and cast multiple blood bats around Gabriel; rapidly attacking him until he shook them off. He sat up trying to stand, resting for a brief moment and trying to catch his breath. "What's the matter Gabriel? You're not done are you? This is certainly not how I trained you." He then rushed up to Gabriel and put his palm on Gabriel's chest. He coated it with his own mana and forcefully pushed at his chest, throwing him back to the arena wall. As the dust from the wall started to clear Drake had summoned multiple blood bats, once again rapidly attacking Gabriel. "This match is over Diego. It seems that he's failed to pass this test."

"Now hold on a second you bastard." It was a faint voice but it was from Gabriel. "This match isn't over yet. I still haven't lost!" Gabriel shouted as he looked up with his bloody face. He looked at Professor Drake and his eyes had changed colors! He was now using his so called mythical eyes that revealed to him many secrets. He observed him as carefully as he could. Drake just had an annoyed face towards Gabriel. "Although I can use this technique, I'm quite damaged. This effects how long I can use these eyes for but right now, I won't need them for long!" Gabriel shouted.

"Are you implying that I'm weak? You are a bigger fool than I thought Gabriel! You're finished! One more attack from me and you'll be sleeping until next week!"

"Bring it." Gabriel responded with a smirk. Professor Drake now angry rushed towards Gabriel with an attack ready. He got within range of Gabriel and used the earthquake technique again, causing Gabriel to be knocked back. This time though he was observing Drake very carefully. He had a smirk on his face again and looked up at his professor. "I see. You have only one weak spot." Gabriel wiped the blood from his mouth and began to clench his fists. "And I know exactly what it is!" He yelled as he ran at him. His professor stood there ready to defend against any type of attack Gabriel throws at him. Gabriel rushes closer up than Drake had expected until he teleported. He was now gone. He checked everywhere to ensure his safety but he saw nothing. He suddenly felt the ground shaking.

"From below?!" Seth said as he leaned in closer.

"EARTHQUAKE!" Gabriel had shouted! Drake turned to the direction of the voice only to see he was in the stands of the arena crouched slightly behind the wall! This earthquake was much more powerful than his professor's which had caught him off guard! Gabriel rushed back into the battlefield and put all of his remaining mana into his fist. "I told you I didn't need the eyes for long!" Gabriel shouted as he punched professor Drake in the stomach, launching him deep into the arena walls.

"How … did … you?"

"For every attack you did against me was just a time I was saving all of my power. Once I used my myth eyes I saw that I had enough power to beat you but I had to be sure, so I used my surroundings and used the arena walls as cover to gain much more power than I needed."

"You may not have … beaten me the way I would've liked for you to. But you still won regardless. I'm impressed Gabriel. You pass." Gabriel gave a toothy grin to his friends and ran his way back up to greet them.

"2 wins so far, only 4 more to go." Connor said as he looked over them. The man with him looked over to Gabriel and began remembering a few things about him.

"So this is what you were like hmm. You were so full of energy and so bright, but now. Now it's like you're a completely different person Gabriel." The mystery man muttered to himself.

Next Destiny and Dworgyn had walked down and readied themselves. Diego had made sure that they were both ready. "Ready?" they nodded "Begin!" he shouted and Dworgyn had immediately reached into the ground and pulled up a tombstone. He shined his light upon it and it started to rattle. After about a minute or 2 of rattling the grave finally breaks free and a hand pops out. It slowly crawls its way out of the grave and onto the surface. It was an armored skeletal warrior!

"This match young wizard is not a battle between bronze, but one against brains!" Dworgyn had said as he built up more mana. Sabrina got into a defensive stance waiting for the skeleton to try to attack her. As she predicted the armored skeleton warrior ran straight into battle without hesitation. She calmly breathed as she closed her eyes and listened for the skeleton. Once she thought it was the right time she opened her eyes, turned around behind her and blocked the skeletons attack.

"If there's one thing you taught me Dworgyn" she started. "It's to trust your instinct, not your eyes!" She began attacking the skeleton instead of defending now and quickly went for the spine! She charged her foot with mana and kicked it as hard as she could; breaking it and causing the skeleton's will to fight, die out! She looked over back at her professor who was storing an immense amount of mana for what looked like an attack that could finish this battle within an instant.

"Very good Sabrina. You've beaten a minion within a few moves, but, can you do it to the strongest minion death has to offer?!" He shouted as he reached into the ground once again. This time instead of a grave popping up, the ground shook and an entire tomb had slowly made its way to the surface! "This has all of my mana resting inside of it! This is the death schools strongest minion! Now rise from your eternal slumber!" he yelled. The door to the tomb started to crumble, and the minion inside started to reveal itself. It was also a skeleton like creature but it had a black cloak, 2 black angelic wings, and a different weapon; a sickle on a staff. Everyone leaned in to get a better look at it knowing they've seen only one enemy with that type of weapon.

"Is that? … No it can't be, he died!" Jack shouted with a surprised voice.

"That's him isn't it? No one else has that type of weapon." Destiny said hoping she's wrong.

"It is. That's Lord Nightshade." Gabriel said, finally seeing his face. Everyone had a look of shock on their faces except for Dworgyn. He was smiling as the demon once again surfaced. Sabrina quickly turned from her shocked face back to a smile as she realized something. It was only a minion, not the real deal. It only looked like him but she realized if it were him, then Dworgyn would have never summoned him.

"So there can be more than just 1 type of major enemy huh? I never would've guessed." Sabrina said as she reassured herself. Dworgyn said nothing but he still stood there, smiling. She charged at the wraith clenching her fist as she moved closer to him. She charged her wand with mana and stabbed it in the wraith. She then jumped over him and charged her own arm with mana punched as hard as she could, punching straight through his spine, causing the wraith to crumble just as the skeletal warrior did. She picked up her wand and looked over at Dworgyn. "Looks like it's my win." She said with a smile.

"You fool, you trusted your eyes instead of your instincts!" yelled Dworgyn as the wraith put itself back together. She looked behind her just in time to see it fully rebuilt again.

"My turn." It said in a demonic voice. It teleported in front of Sabrina and swiped his staff. He cut Sabrina's good arm and jabbed her with the bottom of the staff. She slid backwards holding her wound on her arm.

"Damn, what do I do now…" she looked at the wound and realized it was much worse than she thought. "At this rate I'm going to pass out from blood loss. Damn it!" she flinched from the pain. The wraith rushed up to her again in an attempt to cut her other arm but she saw this one coming and dodged it. She thought for a moment and realized that if she couldn't use her good arm, then she was done for. She then remembered a spell that her professor had taught her recently and decided to take the risk of messing the spell up with her other arm. "Like I have any other choice." She said to herself as she pulled out her wand from her pocket. She spun it around and pointed it at her wound. "Sacrifice!" She screamed and the wound began to glow black. It had made the wound much worse, spilling blood out faster than before, but in an instant the cut was gone and she was healed.

"That won't help you!" the wraith yelled as it jumped behind her and swiped at her back! She knew if she kept getting cut this battle would just end up with her fainting from too much blood loss. She had to finish this battle soon! "Just give up already! You know you can't win! Just make it easier on yourself and give in!" Shouted the wraith. Sabrina knew that if she did then she would learn nothing. There was no way a real enemy would show this much mercy on her. She thought for a moment to try to find an easier way to win. An idea had suddenly struck her and she smiled. She reached into the ground pulling out a tombstone like her professor did earlier. She waved her wand over it and a hand pops out, only to be revealed as another skeletal warrior. "What good do you think that will do against a being like me?!" The wraith shouted as he charged in. "I'll destroy this in an instant!" Sabrina saw her chance and ran in to attack. "Don't think that I'll get distracted that easily!" the wraith shouted as he turned his attention to Sabrina. He swiped at her but was blocked by her own minion! She ran and jumped over the 2 and ran towards her professor!

"What's she doing? She had a clear chance to attack the wraith!" Jack said.

"I see. She knows that he's been recovering so that when she did take down that wraith, he can just pop up another one and stall the battle even longer. In short: He's the puppet master and the wraith is the puppet. Take out the master, and the puppet dies along with them." Gabriel said as he carefully observed and thought about it. She ran to her professor and punched him in the stomach! For a moment all was silent and no one had moved as they watched what had happened. Dworgyn had looked up to see his student and smiled.

"You pass." He says as both the wraith and the skeletal warrior vanish. She walked back to her friends and they all cheered.

"Well I actually didn't expect that. Seems that even we can learn something from lower rankings as well." Connor said aloud.

"You bet we can! Yea Sabrina way to go!" a familiar voice yelled. Connor looked around him surprised to see Brianna cheering on her friend. He looked around and saw the Jackal, Eve, Chris and everyone else behind them smiling.

"How long have you guys been here?" Connor asked surprised.

"After Gabriel's battle we've been watching quietly at the battle. So a good 10 minutes. I think." Vanessa said.

"It's nice meeting you all. My name is Nigel." The man next to Connor said. The man had hazel eyes, dark brown hair, and was about 5'11 in height. He was dressed like a gentleman from Marleybone but without a top hat.

"Nice to meet you to! So how long has the final exam been going on for?"

"Oh about 30 minutes now." Said Nigel pulling out his pocket watch. "Next up are the three elemental students: Jack, Destiny, and Jocelyn. I think it's about to start." Nigel said looking at the arena.

"Alright Jack, this match isn't going to be like the others you've witnessed today. It's going to be a bit different." Professor Falmea said as Destiny and Jocelyn came down with their professors.

"This time we will not be your opponents. You will be fighting someone else since we know you're able to beat us." Professor Balestorm said as he adjusted his hat.

"He's known as one of the strongest in the whole city, and has quite a reputation now." Professor Greyrose said, giving them a little info on who this person is. Suddenly the doors had opened but the figure was covered in a shadow. He walked forward and the sound of metal clanking was heard. Connor and the others had looked closer to see who it was.

"Wait! I know that sound anywhere… No. They can't be fighting him!" Connor said aloud. The others still didn't know who this man was but they looked closer, only to find out that he was one of the most fearsome fighters in the entire spiral. Their jaws dropped and their eyes widened as a look of shock ran across their faces.

"Why is everyone so surprised? Who is this man?" Nigel asked curiously.

"This is one of the most feared warriors in the spiral. His codename: The Black Knight. That black metal suit he's wearing is one of the strongest defense systems the spiral has ever seen. Everyone you see here has lost to this man at least once. There are only a few people in the spiral that can defeat him, but never mind them. Why would the teachers set up a fight with rookies against the Black Knight?! They'll lose for sure!" Brianna said as she looked at the knight. He had a powerful looking full set of armor covering him from head to toe. To his side was a magic weapon and was a silver lance and his red cape flowing with the wind.

"This is your opponent. You will all fight together to defeat this warrior. I'll warn you again: if you fail, your whole team goes down with you." Professor Balestorm said. The knight and the students looked at each other and neither side said anything.

"This is it guys; a duel against a real warrior of the spiral. You guys ready?" Destiny said putting her hand on her wand. The other 2 nodded.

"Then let this match begin!" Diego shouted and the students jumped at the knight, ready to strike.

Wow that took a while. Sorry it took a bit but I was trying to think ahead and how I can fit pieces of the puzzle into the story, been working on this and correcting errors a few weeks now but I think I finally got the kinks worked out. Anyways thanks for reading guys! I have something kinda unexpected planned for later chapters…

Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!

Cya later!
