Chapter 24: Neo

"Well then Malistaire, if you won't let me do things my own way then I'm going to have to kill you. Your call, you rage induced death wizard" Deth continued the conversation. This argument was getting out of hand for Malistaire. He knew the demon wizard would be like no other wizard he's met. He was more stubborn, more dominant, and more powerful than anyone he's even met before. He had to show that he wasn't going to let him walk all over him and show him that he was in charge.

"I say you do what I ask you to do! I'm the one who freed you from your prison and as so, you MUST listen to my commands!"

"Is that what you think? First off you weren't the one who freed me, your minion was. Second, I don't have to listen to you; I'm not like a genie where I would just grant your wishes for no reason. I'm still a wizard who can think, and I think I'm done here. You don't seem to be of any use to me." Once he finished speaking he charged at Malistaire with a punch capable of destroying a reinforced building when suddenly it was caught by a cold hand. One of Malistaires generals had interrupted the attack just barely. Her hand seemed to have an iron grip that even Deth seemed to struggle from. She had pale blonde colored hair. Hair that was long enough to barely reach her waist. Her pale skin brought out her golden sun-kissed eyes. Her black colored gold trimmed outfit, which also held an intricate pattern to it, seemed to scream out that she was an assertive fighter. She wore a long black dress that seemed to stop at her ankles and her sleeves were rolled up to her elbow. Her shoulders even had armor looking spikes on them. Her shoes were that of a brawlers and her cape was as long as her dress and seemed to flow with the wind. Her entire outfit seemed to flow with the wind as she absorbed the impact of Deth's light punch.. "And just who are you?" Deth asked with a smirk on his face.

"I am Valkyrie Shadowwings. Although I would normally kill any who interfere with our plans, because you are our plan, I only advise you to stop your attack." Malistaire interrupted Valkyrie with a look of anger on his face.

"No General, he will not comply with us. He's only become another problem. Dispose of him at once." At first she looked at him like he was crazy but once she saw the look in his eyes, she knew this guy was bad news. Malistaire hasn't had the look of fear in his eyes for quite some time now and if a wizard who can just look at him can give him that look, then they're just going to get in the way. She complied and drew a large triple bladed axe with three astral symbols, one engraved onto each blade. Just drawing the axe nearly slashed Deth's face. He jumped back in response and smiled as they both prepared for battle.

"So then, you let your minion do all the work while you just sit back? What a coward you are."

"I'm no minion." Valkyrie interrupted. She disappeared and reappeared right behind Deth. "I'm his general." Deth looked behind him only to see that the axe had already struck his shoulder. He staggered and tried to recover but she wouldn't let him. She kicked him, sending him flying across the room and teleported to where he was headed. She stationed her axe to where Deth would be struck by the pain, but wouldn't die. He collided with the blades and fell to the ground bleeding. However, even after all that pain, he was still smiling. Her face turned from a serious look to a disturbed face. She stabbed his leg and he screamed in pain but he still smiled. After witnessing this she whispered to herself 'What the hell?' He struggled to stand back up but she just stomped on his back. "Know your place demon wizard!" She shouted at him but he only started to giggle. "What's so funny?"

"The purpose of you being here was to protect Malistaire right?" She only looked at him. "I'm just letting you know. You failed your mission." She stomped on his back again to make sure he wasn't going to get away and looked over at Malistaire and saw that he was backstabbed by someone behind him. Once he fell she didn't see anyone behind him but that's when she realized that it wasn't someone, it was something. She thought for a moment and then looked at the shadow of Malistaire and saw that it was moving without him moving! She soon came to the realization that Deth could manipulate shadows. "Well? What's it going to be? Will you finish me off? Or perhaps you'll let your leader die? If you try to finish me off AND save him, you'll only die." She didn't understand until she saw the shadowy figure of a blade behind her. She gave Deth a livid look but retreated back to Malistaire. "Just because you've pinned down your opponents, doesn't mean you've won the battle. I will admit however, if it wasn't for that axe you have there, you wouldn't have been so lucky." Valkyrie only helped Malistaire up and teleported away, she knew it was way too risky to even summon a monster to aid her. This demon wizard plays dirty, but if he can manipulate multiple shadows at once, it didn't matter. She then thought about why he didn't use it earlier to save himself all that trouble, and then it hit her. He only wanted to show off what he could do. He was never fighting to begin with. In shorter terms, he let her win. She gritted her teeth and continued to walk to a safer place. She was aching to settle the score, but for now she would have to save Malistaire.

"Hey Sabrina, what's the hold up?" Neo shouted as her friend was rushing to get ready for school. Neo had blonde hair with black streaks, beautiful red eyes, and wore a green dress with a pair of green boots and had her life staff on her back. Sabrina overslept and was in a hurry so she wouldn't be late for school. She picked up her bag but in the process of doing so she knocked over a picture on her night stand. The glass broke but was not shattered and revealed a group photo of her and her team back when Seth was still alive. It was a group photo taken right before they were sent into Marleybone. She stared at the picture for a little bit and had a little walk down memory lane, remembering all the battles she and her team shared. All the good times they had when they weren't on any missions. She snapped out of it and sighed as she took one last look at the photo before placing it back on her night stand. She left to her new friend who was patiently waiting outside of her dorms.

It's been two years since that fateful day. The day the life wizard known as Seth LegendShard died and Wizard City has progressively become weaker in its defenses despite the fact that more and more wizards are becoming veterans; it's still not enough to drive back the evil magic that plagues around the city. The team known as the 'Allied Powers' have disbanded since then and have never gone on a mission again ever since the incident. Today they are split up in different parts of the city doing what they can to help out its citizens, but haven't spoken to each other in about one year. Today this will change. A new life wizard has finally been assigned to the team. Her name is Neo Hinamori. The next wizard predicted to stop Deth, however, she still needs training in her studies. This is where we continue our story.

As the day went by, Ambrose knew that soon the city might be taken over and once that battle starts he knew the city would lose. He sent two messenger guards to go to the death class being taught at the moment and to the city's science and research development to call for an emergency meeting. Neo and Sabrina were both taking notes from Dworgyn when suddenly a guard blew the doors open in a panic. "Headmaster Ambrose requests both wizards Sabrina Dreamcoin and Neo Hinamori at once!" The guard saluted and ran back through the gates. Sabrina and Neo had teleported to the commons in front of the Headmasters office and looked at each other questionably. They both shrugged and walked inside where Ambrose was waiting.

"Ah at last you're here! My apologies for removing you two from your studies but this is an emergency we're dealing with! As you know Wizard City is on the brink of war with both the Demon Wizard Deth and Malistaire. Both of which are the most dangerous wizards that are enemies of the city. Unfortunately every enemy in the spiral that the city has ever known is also planning an assault. In short, we need all the help we can get."

"Well what are we going to do? We can be a pretty good duo at times but we can't take down an army." Sabrina said wanting to get to the point of all this.

"No, just the two of you can't take down an army, but your old team can." Ambrose said with a grin. Sabrina's eyes widened and clenched her fists.

"Old team? Sabrina what's he talking about? You were a part of a team before?" Sabrina looked down with a frustrated look. At that moment Iridian had walked in on the conversation already being held.

"You called for me headmaster?" She said with a questioning tone.

"Ah yes come, sit sit. I need you to inform me on how far we are on project M.A.G-" He cut himself off realizing that the other two wizards were still in the room. Iridian just shushed him at wanted to discuss this in another room. "Very well then, my apologies Iridian. I guess I just need to rest a bit. Sabrina, I want you to fill Neo in on the situation with your old team." Sabrina took a deep breath in and sighed. "Well Sabrina? She was going to have to know sooner or later." She sat down in one of Ambrose's chairs and began. Ambrose and Iridian went into the next room to discuss the progress with whatever they were working on. At that moment Sabrina began telling her friend about what had happened to the team that she was in before.

"About two years ago my friends, Destiny Seaspear and Jocelyn Silverstone were just starting our journey and our first location was Unicorn Way. There we met three boys that seemed to have just started their journey as well. Their names were Jack Darkriver, Gabriel Fairymask, and … Seth Legendshard." Neo whispered to herself 'The wizard who died fighting…' Sabrina interrupted "Yeah, he's the reason why most wizards must learn the basics of life before going out into battle now." She continued her story until Neo was completely caught up with what happened two years ago.

"Ambrose are you crazy? You can't just nonchalantly talk about a confidential project like that! Now before I get carried away scolding you, we've been working on the blue prints and we have finished them but, are you sure you really want to build this thing?" Iridian looked at Ambrose dead in the eyes when she asked this question. He hesitated to answer the question. "Listen Ambrose, I understand why you want to build this weapon but there are other ways! This thing is way too destructive for the public or even any other veteran wizards to know! As the head scientist of Wizard City's Research and Development, I highly suggest that we stop where we are before its too late." Ambrose still hesitant remained silent. He was thinking of what to do knowing that she was right. He finally decided on what to do, although he didn't feel right about it.

"Very well then, stop any further progress on Project M.A.G.I.C. until further notice. However I want you to keep the blueprints and hide them well! It may be risky to keep them, however I feel that we will need this in the future." Iridian sighed but nodded regardless, knowing that he might be right. They both went back into the other room where Neo and Sabrina we're still waiting. Sabrina finished her story just as they reentered the room.

"So now, here we are." She ended her story and looked at Ambrose. He made his way back to his chair and sat down. "So then, are we officially a team again then?" She gave him a blank stare that seemed to ask 'Are you sure about this?'

"Yes you are, as I said before, your services are needed once again. However, you must convince the others to fight by your side once more. Jack will be the most difficult to convince so you should probably get everyone else first. Start with Gabriel, he works at the Library and should be a good first step." They both nodded and walked out the Headmasters office and walked towards the library. On the way Neo had quite a few questions, most of which were answered but a few of them Sabrina didn't answer.

"Wait, so then why did you guys just stop talking to each other?" Neo's final question was. Sabrina was a bit hesitant to answer at first but she figured since she was going to be the new life wizard of the team, she deserved a right to know.

"Well the thing is, the fire wizard: Jack was put in second in command of the team. After Seth had died Jack only wanted to protect the team so we never really went on another mission. One by one we decided to leave but Jack's been making sure we're safe, even if he himself left the team. We slowly went our separate ways and in the end we just ended up living our lives without each other. It's been a whole year since I spoke to any of them so in advance, sorry if we get carried away while catching up with each other." They reached the library and upon entering they see a certain black haired golden eyed myth wizard at the front desk. He seemed to be reading something on the topic of legendary wizards, wizards such as King Arthur, Jack Frost, and the wizard king himself. When the door closed behind Neo and Sabrina he immediately looked up and his eyes widened.

"Sabrina?" He asks himself loud enough for them to hear.

"Yo."

"How have you been? It's been a while hasn't it?" Gabriel asks with a smile.

"Things have been pretty normal, oh by the way this is my friend Neo Hinamori" She reaches out her hand and he gladly shakes it with a smile. "Anyway, we have some business to take care of here. Mind if I ask you a question?"

"Sure, what do you guys need help with?"

"We came here to ask you to join back with the Allied Powers."

Well that's about it for this chapter. Although I don't feel like this chapter's long enough, I shall leave it at that. Sorry I haven't been updating but I've had summer school for like a month and a half x( but now it's finally over! :D Anyways is this new character, Neo, enough to take down Deth? What's happened to the Incinerator? Why am I repeating the same joke I've used in another chapter? Find out next time on A New Chance!

Haha nah but shiz is gonna get more complicated than it is. Or maybe not.

Cya later!
