Jack was flying through the air, his hair whipping at the ends. His cheeks were tinged red and wind chapped. He was on his way to see Jamie, and have a snow ball fight. It was the first day of Christmas break, and it was due time for a snow storm. It had been a year since he had seen Jamie, and he was getting big. So was his sister. It amazed Jack. As someone who couldn't grow, it amazed him to watch him change. His face wasn't as pudgy as it was before, and he was almost as tall as Jack now. Jack smiled to himself and kept flying.
Halfway to Jamie, a white light shone down on him.
"Well hell. Man In The Moon better need me for something important." But as jack was turning to fly away, something happened that he hadn't felt in a very long time. He was being pulled by the light. He wasn't flying, but someone was flying for him. He didn't black out, but his entire body went numb. He flew high into the sky, out of the reaches of the Earth's pull, and looked around. Three other lights were shooting from the moon and Jack squinted to try and see what was going on. He could barely make out three other shapes in the lights. Suddenly Jack was being thrown to Earth, speeding down through the light. There was no wind, there was only a pulling feeling gripping at his ankle. Jack closed his eyes, for only a second, and found himself in North's workshop. The other guardians were standing around the golden globe, staring at the window. They all turned on their heels when they heard them enter the room. Jack stood there with his hands on his hips.
"What's going on?"
"Jack mah' boy, you'll find out soon. Give them a second to gather themselves and wake up. Drink something." An elf jingled to Jack with a steaming mug of something that Jack drank down in a few greedy gulps. That had been one hell of a ride and it left Jack a little shaky. North lead him to a seat and the Guardians caught up on what they were doing. Bunnymund was busy making more eggs, Tooth was still trying to raise more little tooth fairies. North was making toys, and his yetis were trying to fix recent damage done to the shop. Sandy was trying to fix the children's nightmares, keeping them at bay, and changing most of them to sweet dreams. But there were still the occasional few that managed to get away. Jack was content listening to them banter, and he smiled at the warm feeling bubbling in his chest. A rustling broke his thoughts, and he turned to the globe. He stood up and walked slowly around the glowing sand. He peeked his head around the globe and saw a girl standing up slowly. Her legs wobbled under her dress, and her fiery hair was a halo around her shoulders. Soon, another girl was standing to her feet. Jack had to take a second look. Her hair was long. Really long. It curled in big swirls around her feet and climbed up her back. She was tan, and beautiful and she looked around in wonder. A small boy stood up behind the two girls. His footing unsure. When he took a step forward, Jack heard a clanking noise that fallowed his step and Jack wanted to check it out. The three people however, just wanted to know what was going on.
"Hello!" The girl with the crimson curls yelled.
"Don't do that! We don't know who lives here. What if they're dangerous?"
"Well A don' care. A want ta know what's goin' on."
"This place is amazing!" The blonde girl yelled spinning in a circle. She took a step and tripped over her hair. "Oh yeah, that's back." She giggled to herself as she gathered it in her arms. The girl with the thick Scottish accent looked at her like she was crazy and the small boy smiled at her. Jack felt a hand on his shoulder and he looked up to see the round face of Sandy encourage him out. Jack took a deep breath and stepped out from behind the glowing globe.
"Hey." He gave a short wave and stood there awkwardly. The girl with the fiery locks glared at him, the boy just stood there, and the blonde girl waved back with a smile splitting her face. The rest of the Guardians walked in behind Jack and the Scott walked up to North.
"Yah look like yer in charge. Why am A here?" North chuckled and she glared back at the large man.
"No, no. I'm not in charge," North gestured to the window, "he is."
"Who is?"
"The Man In The Moon of course."
"Who's that?" The blonde girl cocked her head to the side and looked at North quizzically.
"He's the one who brought us here. He can't talk to us, but he lights our way in the darkness. He sends lights to find new Guardians. People who have been deemed worthy to save the world. You three are new. Man In The Moon will tell us what is happening soon enough, and what you're to protect."
"A don' want ta protect anything! A want ta go home!"
"Sorry sheila, but you can't." Bunnymund told her, his arms folded across his chest.
"WHAT DO YAH MEAN A CAN'T!?"
"Just that." North said. "You can't go home. You'll have a new home."
"A new home…" the boy said, hanging his head. He took a deep breath and nodded his head. Jack was surprised. For such a small boy, he was determined.
A bright silver light shone through the window and North grinned. He ushered them to a large round table. When they were all settled, the light began to shift, and North began to talk.
"A great darkness is approaching. New Guardians were chosen," he pointed to the Scott, "a girl with great determination, who's will and protection of those she loved save an entire kingdom from destruction. Another," he pointed to Rapunzel, "who's love for others outshines her love for herself. A selfless girl who will do what's right, even in the toughest of times. And finally a boy," he pointed to Hiccup, "who was an outcast. He didn't fallow the normal way of life where he's from, and because of that a great discovery was made. Sharp as a tack, and willing to go against everyone risking total isolation, he did what was right and chose not to take a life that wasn't needed." North looked up like he was finished, but was nudged by Sandy. He turned to the light and kept going. "Another boy, left as an outcast. Spent almost his entire existence in the dark, never knowing true love. The memories of his past making him bitter. No one believed in him, and he thought no one cared. Until he met three older people who showed him what it was to be cared about and loved. He defeated the darkness inside. He shows true determination, and perseverance through the darkest part of one's life. These four are to protect the world from a never ending darkness." The light shone down on the brown haired boy and turned orange. Leaves were falling around him and the smell of autumn filled the air.
"Seasons!" Tooth yelled, fluttering out of her seat. North nodded. "You,"
"Hiccup Haddock the Third"
"Hiccup Haddock the Third, are the Guardian of Autumn." The light moved to the blonde girl and she giggled. The light turned golden and branches burst out all around her, dotted with the buds of all kinds of flowers. The smell of fresh earth and melting snow greeted their nostrils.
"You,"
"Rapunzel."
"Rapunzel, are the Guardian of Spring."
The light moved to the fiery haired girl, and turned red. A great warmth filled the room, and the sound of cicadas sung out.
"You,"
"Merida Dun'Broch"
"Merida Dun'Broch, are the Guardian of Summer." Finally the light made its way to Jack and turned white. Snowflakes began to fall and the room dropped a few degrees.
"You, Jack Frost, are the Guardian of Winter." Bunnymund sniggered.
"Surprise, surprise." Jack gave him a glare and Bunnymund barked with laughter. North cleared his throat, and the two snapped out of their fight. The light was back on the table, twisting into more forms.
"In one year's time, we will meet back here. The darkness will start its decent. The four of you must train day and night. You will be guided by an elder Guardian. Merida will train with," a red light shone down on the giant, Australian rabbit, "Bunny. Rapunzel will train with," a golden light shone down on the petite fairy, "Tooth. Jack will train with," a white light shone down on the small golden man and Jack let out an enthusiastic 'yes', "Sandy. And that means Hiccup trains with me." North finished as an orange light shone down. "I'm North by the way." Just then, it was like a light had gone off in his head. Hiccup stood up and the chair he was sitting went flying to the floor. A yeti came and picked it up.
"Where's Toothless?"
"Who?"
"Toothless. My… pet. He was in the light with me. Where. Is. He?" Hiccup gripped the edge of the table and stared at North with commanding eyes. North raised an eyebrow and called for a yeti. A few seconds later a door was opened and in flew a black blur. It wrapped itself around Hiccup and large emerald eyes burned at those sitting around the table. Toothless opened his mouth and bore his teeth. Suddenly the large reptile wasn't so ferocious and was sitting on the ground. Tooth was proding his mouth, looking at his teeth.
"LOOK AT THESE! THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL! These are amazing. I've never seen anything like them!" Toothless retracted them and Tooth stuck her head into the dragon's mouth. "RETRACTABLE? NO WAY!" Bunnymund walked up and pulled her out of Toothless' mouth.
"We had this talk before Tooth, you can't put your head into an animal's mouth."
