Max's POV

I walk along the dark sidewalk towards Fang's apartment. After I received his call, I was confused on so many levels. First of all, how did he get my number? Second, why are my "kids" with him? URGH the brats are sooooo dead when I catch their scrawny butts.

"Hey Nudge, could you walk a little faster?" I yell behind me to her.

"Huh? Oh right yeah sure," she says, picking up the pace while trying not to trip as she plays a game of flappy bird.

I mutter darkly under my breath at how slow my best friend walks. I can't believe she got first when we did timed sprints at spy school.

I round the corner of the block and walk past a dark alley, the kind that you're told to NEVER go into. Meh, I'm a spy, I can handle the alley. But as I walk past the shaded street a flash of light catches my attention. A girl sprints past me, the streetlamps reflecting off of something silver concealed in her hand. An earring or necklace, maybe? I can't see her face clearly because her hoodie covers most of it. But from what I can see, her face is structured and slender, with a hint of brown eyes. There are peeps of brown hair coming out of her hoodie and she instantly reminds me of someone. MYSELF.

Ok, that was weird. SNAP OUT OF IT MAX. You're seriously losing it. Stop imagining yourself as a weirdo in an alley. Just hurry and get to Fang's house, so you can whoop Angel and Gazzy's sorry little butts.

I shake my head and clear my odd thoughts as I briskly walk towards Fang's address. I approach the doors and as I walk inside I realize that Nudge is missing.

I type in her numbers in my phone and give her a call. The phone rings for a few minutes, and just as I'm about to give up I can hear somebody pick up the phone.

"Nudge?" I ask.

"Uh huh?" she answers excitedly.

"Um, where are you? Weren't you just behind me 2 minutes ago?"

"Oh right, hehe, well I stopped at 7 eleven for some snacks but I know where Fang lives so I'll meet you there." She says.

"Um, ok, but be safe," I blurt, looking towards my watch which reads 10:35, "and be careful, its pretty late to be wandering around,"

"Yeah don't worry about me just go and get the kids text or call me if ya need me," she screeches before hanging up the phone.

I shake my head slowly and head up the elevator.

Maya's POV

I sprint away from the sirens through several darkened alleyways, hopefully confusing the cops.

Keep your hood up and face down, I remind myself, so people don't remember you, a lesson I learned the hard way.

I know my way around here like the back of my hand. I sprint out of an alleyway, knife clutched in my hand. As I sprint, I pass by a girl, around the same age as me. Shock and scared recognition flashes across her face.

Shoot! Does she recognize me from somewhere, like the orphanage?! Her face does sort of look familiar, maybe. She better not report me to the cops, I swear… This is why I keep my hood up all the time… it blocks out the memories, and prevents people from recognizing me.

As I continue sprinting away from my latest excursion, I think back to the girl's face. I abruptly realize why she looks so familiar, and why she had the look of utmost surprise on her face- she was my mirror image.

Fang's POV

Max arrived at my apartment just as I was about to murder Gazzy and Angel.

The two brats had been snickering and smirking deviously ever since I had talked to Max on the phone. Neither of them had provided any information whatsoever on why Max, of all people, had KIDS.

Iggy had been no help either. Every 5 seconds, he would enthusiastically burst out into laughter, before screaming at the top of his lungs (accompanied by Angel and Gazzy), "FANGYPOO AND MAXY SITTIN' IN A TREE, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" before I would kindly inform him to shut up right now unless you want your foot stuck in your mouth.

Needless, to say, I was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off when Max showed up.

Angel was the first one to notice her arrival.

"Max!" She squealed, running across the room to hug her, "We were in the park but then we got lost and we couldn't see you at all and then we thought that you had left and we got really scared and worried and nervous and sad like Gazzy was outright sobbing and everything but then we found Fang and he said that he would help us find you and he was right and now you're here and we can go home now yay!"

"Wha-?" Max said, looking across the room at me for help. I shrugged. She was on her own for this one.

"Well, um, I'm just er glad that the two of you are uh safe?" Max stuttered out, still trying to get past the first five words of Angel's rambling.

She looks really cute when she's confused. Wait what? I did not just think that! She is my mission! Well you did just think that, so there. Shut up. Ha. I win.

"Thanks for everything, Fang. Gazzy and Angel it's time to go," Max stated, bringing me out of my internal battle with myself. Gazzy got up and headed towards where Angel was already hugging Max.

"No problem. Wait, before you go-" I started, before stuttering out, "doyoumindexplaininghowyouhavekids?"

Smooth Fang. Real smooth.

Max's POV

"What did you say?" I questioned Fang, who was stuttering and murmuring something incoherent.

"I said-" Fang started again, before falling into another incoherent mumble.

"What?" I snapped. It had been a long day, and I was looking forward to my bed. HOME SWEET BED.

"Well, um, would you mind explaining how you have kids?" Fang blurted out, while awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

Well this is weird. No, you don't say. Well, it is weird.

Ignoring Angel and Gazzy's devious little grins, and some random pale kid's snickering, I sigh, before responding.

"It's more of a babysitting thing. I'm a family friend of their parents, so I take care of the kids on a regular basis, when their parents are too busy."

"Ha! I knew that shark and rhino story was a hoax!" crows the blonde kid, as he shoots pointed looks at Gazzy, "I'm Iggy, by the way."

"What?" Gazzy says innocently. Oh, that kid is SO dead when we get home. Wait, sharks and rhinos? What type of stuff does this kid learn?

"Ah, that explains a lot," says Fang, "I thought, um, wait, nevermind, forget I said anything."

Shooting a questioning look at Fang, I nudge Angel and Gazzy towards the door. "Thanks again Fang!" I call over my shoulder.

"Yeah, thanks Fangypoo!" Gazzy adds, with a crafty smirk.

If Fang was a normal human being, he probably would have blushed.

Instead, he nudged us to the door faster than humanly possible before closing the door, right after saying "see you at school, Max."

Oh! I forgot to ask how he knew my phone number. Maybe he's a creepy stalker. Maybe.

Angel's POV

Well, I would say the mission was a success. Even though Gazzy almost blew it. I knew that cover story with the sharks and rhinos wouldn't work! I have to talk to him about that one…

Max and Fang are sort of friends now, like more than acquaintances, but not quite friends. Honoured acquaintances, that's it!

I count that as a success, seeing as Fang is practically a human glacier.

Seriously, that kid has two expressions: Blank and smirk.

Gazzy, Max and I continue walking home. It's a good thing that I confused Max like that, by hugging her. Otherwise, Gazzy and I would definitely be dead right now.

As we round the corner to the apartment, Max turns on Gazzy and I, eyes blazing with fury. "You. Two. Are. So. DEAD!" she shrieks.

Looks like I spoke too soon.

Nudge's POV

The next morning, I wake up, ready to go to school. Thankfully I wake up in my own bed. That definitely beats waking up kidnapped. Even if it was by someone hot.

Last night, after Max came home, she lectured Angel and Gazzy for a billion hours before finally going to bed. That girl's got a serious set of vocal cords. I would have felt bad for the little munchkins, if it wasn't for that game of tag they forced me to play. Grrr. I got my hair messed up from that. I know, I'm a secret agent who's supposed to be tough and all, but oh well!

Max and I head to school, after dropping off Gazzy and Angel at another secret CIA base that is disguised as a bookstore and has less random secret codes to get into the base.

Max and I split up at school to go to our different homerooms, after agreeing to meet up after school with Ella. As I walk down the hallway, I spot a familiar flash of blond hair. GASP.

I know that hair! THATS THE HAIR OF THE GUY THAT KIDNAPPED ME. Woah calm down Nudge. How do you know that's him? Just because he has the same hair doesn't mean he's the same guy. Yeah, it's probably a coinkydink.

But then the guy turns around and DOUBLE GASP. IT IS THE GUY THAT KIDNAPPED ME.

He's looking at me really weirdly, as if he can't fathom why I would be looking at him. Gee, does he really not remember, oh, I don't know, kidnapping me? Well, maybe he kidnaps so many people that it all blurs together after a while. Yeah, that might explain it.

"Why are you staring at me?" he asks, snapping me out of my trance. Oh yeah, that's his voice all right.

"Do you really not remember? YOU-" I pause, before realizing that I'm in a public place and that saying that someone kidnapped me in front of a whole bunch of people probably isn't the best idea. I settle for glaring angrily at him.

"Woah there, calm down. You must be mistaking me with the wrong person. Are you feeling all right?" he arrogantly asks, making me get really angry at him.

"Why you-!" I yell, before stalking angrily off. After all, I don't want to make him so angry I get kidnapped again.

Dylan's POV

What a crazy girl.
