This all just felt so odd. Waking up and going downstairs and seeing Jenna there instead of her parents was odd. Getting in the car with Bonnie that morning instead of Caroline was odd. But walking into school and not having Caroline's hand in hers? That wasn't odd that just felt wrong. This was all wrong. Even still, she put on a smile and anyone who asked how she was doing, she gave them her well practiced answer: "I'm fine." Pair that with a smile and people just smiled and walked away, satisfied with their good samaritin act for the day. They had just made it to her locker when she finally heaved a sigh. Bonnie gave her a sincere smile, not minding much that Elena really wasn't paying attention to her whole 'Grams says I'm a psychic' story. "You sure you're ok to be here today?" She asked. Elena nodded and have her friend a smile that was more sincere. "I just have to get through today," she said. Bonnie patted her arm. "So A psychic huh? Can you predict how it's going to go with my ex?"

At this, Bonnie gave her a sad smile. "Have you guys talked at all? She's all confused about how to approach you. Doesnt know what to say at all, and you know how hard to manage that is." Seriously hard. "Bonnie, Elena!" And speak of the devil.

Caroline was a vision in blue, hair curled and make up immaculate. Elena recognized the cute dress from one of their shopping dates. Before she knew it she was being enveloped in a tight hug, Caroline asking if she was ok. Before she could answer or even relax into the hug Caroine was holding her at an arms length and her attention was on Bonnie. "Is she ok?" Elena rolled her eyes. Really? She'd seen this move pulled before but never was it on her. "She's right here," she said, pulling away from Caroline's hold. The blonde gave her a tight little smile. "And im fine. Really fine." There was a look on Caroline's face, but it passed quickly. Something that said their texts from last night were not far from her mind. She knew better.

Instead of actually calling her out on it though Caroline gave her another hug and bid her and Bonnie goodbye. When she was gone the remaining two girls exchanged glances. Elena shrugged in disbelief. "I have no words."

Caroline really couldn't believe the absolute BS she just pulled with Elena. Initially she had planned to approach like a normal person, hug her, as if she was ok, and in the gentelist way possible tell Elena that she could come to her with anything. However the moment she saw her, which was the first time in...well a really long time, she lost her nerve. Obviously it was freaking awful. Most of her wanted to kiss her and hold her and be held and kissed but...hell what was she thinking. She had been heartbroken when Elena ended things but she understood. She still did! She just...she was in love with her ok?

Honestly she felt a little like crying. However she was Caroline Forbes and she would not cry at school. She was the queen bee, a trend setter, a diva, and she would not show weakness. She could hide it all behind that picture perfect smile and a flip of her hair. Maybe she wouldn't have her beautiful girlfriend by her side this time but (and she truly hated to think it) maybe she wasn't the one. Even if she wanted her to be.

Caroline made herself a silent promise. She'd try to move on. If she did, then great. If she didn't? Maybe Elena was the one. But if it didn't work out? Those possibilities were scary as hell.

"We are seriously lacking in male real estate," Bonnie was saying a few minutes later as they walked down the hall. Elena just laughed. "Yeah well that doesn't really apply to me. All I'm seeing is cute girls," she said, making Bonnie laugh. She stopped suddenly, in front of the counselers office. There was a boy, but all they could see was back. "All I see is back." "Yeah but a hot back." Elena laughed again before her attention was caught by her baby brother. He looked...Elena growled softly to herself before giving Bonnie an excuse, barely catching the please be hot chant the girl was saying as she followed her brother into the boys bathroom.

When she walked in her brother was putting drops in his eyes and she gave him a little shove, surprising him. "What the hell Elena!" He snapped. She merely grabbed his face and made him look her in the eye before scoffing. "Great you're stoned," she practically growled. He rolled his eyes and listened to her go off in the same tangent she normally did. "Jer," she started again, this time her tone more gentle, like the kind their mom used to have when she was trying to give them advice. "I'm done listening to you," he said, before storming out of the bathroom.

Just as the door closed behind Elena the new guy was finishing talking with the counsellor, and when he turned around Bonnir was kind of thrown for a loop. So much for a lack in real estate. She couldn't help but take a few steps after him as he walked by, but stopped dead in her tracks when she noticed Caroline noticing him. There was a surprised look in the blondes eyes that turned into something Bonnie recognized in her best friend. A look that defiantly spelled trouble if Elena was really going to try and get her back.

Soeaking of the brunette was just walkingn out of the bathroom...and bumped straight into the new guy. "Oh, uh...sorry," she said, offering a polite and embarrassed smile. The guy gave her a bemused look. "No it's ok," he said and the look on his face was a little flirtatious but mostly just a kind smile. He was attractive certainly but not exactly Elenas taste.

When she realized she was still at the door in front of the men's restroom she turned a bright red. "This...this totally isn't what it looks like!"

Elena had never been so glad for a day to be over. From school she headed straight for the cemetery and took a seat at the base of her parents grave and started writing in her diary. She wrote of all the times she had to say 'I'm fine' and all the times she wanted to hold Caroline's hand and all the times Bonnie gave her sympathetic glances and all the times the new boy, Stefan Salvatore, had glanced her way. Like he recognized her but didn't. It was weird. Just as she was finishing up she noticed a crow. That same crow from that morning. She rolled her eyes and tried to focus but when it squawked she looked up to tell it to shoo. It did, just as the fog started to roll in. Strange. Even stranger was that she thought she saw a figure somewhere in that fog. It unnerved her and soon she found herself running...and then tripping.

Groaning she got up and was dusting herself off when suddenly the new guy appeared. "Are you ok?" He asked. Elena was calming down from the fright he gave her but still gave him a smile. "Yeah I'm just...it got weird back there with the crow and the...uh yeah I'm ok," she said, trying to stop herself from rambling. But remembering the figure she saw.."Were you following me?" She asked. He kind of laughed. "You ran into me, remember?" She grinned and nodded. "I guess you're right." They joked heir way through an introduction after that, before he suddenly zeroed in on her pant covered leg. "You're hurt," he said, making her look down. There was a small red splotch and she was confused for a moment. She lifted her leg and rolled up her pants and what do you know, there was a pretty nasty cut. "Oooh that is not pretty," she said. She laughed as he said it would be a good idea for her to take care of it. When she looked up to explain she was fine, he was gone.

(A few hours later, as she was getting ready to meet Bonnie and Caroline at the Grille, he showed up with her diary, which he promised he didn't read. If she liked guys he would be the one she was into. So she invited him to go with her.)

"You got all of that in one day?"

Caroline laughed at the look Bonnie was giving her. She just dished outsell the info she got on one Stefan Salvatore as they walked into the Grille. "Please I got all that in first period." Bonnir laughed and shook her head. "Don't prey on the new guy Care, let him adjust," she said. The blonde rolled her eyes playfully. "What's wrong with a little flirting? I mean after what happened with Elena, it's nice," she said. Bonnie sighed at that. "Are you ever going to be able to have a normal conversation with her? This morning was... I can't even describe what this morning was," she said, tossing her curly brunette hair over her shoulder.

Caroline opened her mouth to try and explain, but before she could who should walk in but Elena and, surprisingly, Stefan. Her eyes stayed on Elena though and she couldn't fight the sweet emotion that always took over when she saw her. That just made things harder. How could she possibly explain to Bonnie how terribly hard it was , wanting to move on but at the same time wanting Elena back.

The brunette approached them with her green eyed tag along and gave the other two girls a smile. "Is it ok I brought a guest?"

They all got a table not long after and sat down. Elena internally grimaced as Caroline grilled Stefan with questions. He kept turning his gaze to her, and she'd just shrug and wait for the answers her ex was asking for. To be honest she was mostly focusing on the blondes lips and thinking how much she wanted to kiss them. However when the subject turned to dead parents be it as another thing she and the new guy had in common. It was nice in a very twisted kind of way, to have someone who understood. "I think what I miss most about my mom is how understanding she was," she said. "When I came out she didn't hesitate to offer her support and tell me she loved me."

That statement made stefans eyebrows raise just slightly. "When you came out?" He asked curiously. The brunette nodded and smiled sheepishly. She noticed the slight flirtation he was giving her and she figured she might as well let him know.

Stefan looked just a little disappointed but gave her a bright smile after because he could accept that. Elena really hoped they'd become friends. He seemed like a pretty good guy. Until she decided to look up at Caroline as she started looking Stefan up and down. She knew that look. She looked to Bonnie who gave her a sad little smile as Caroline asked Stefan if he'd be going to The Falls the next night.
