Chapter 3

It was around eight o'clock at night when Rebekah got back a few minutes after the girl. She came in the house the back way after parking her car on another road.

"Where did you go?" Klaus asked her looking away from the window showing the house across the street.

"Well, she drove to the school and was there for the entire time. Then she got out all disgustingly sweaty and came back here in the silver minivan. Now I'm here." She said and sat down on a couch.

Klaus said. "I wonder what she did all that time.''

"Who cares? Look, can we just either kill her or leave her to get away from here. I want to continue the Katherine search so we can get home." Rebekah said.

"Relax 'Bekah. When Elijah gets here tomorrow you can feel free to leave and go back to Mystic Falls." Klaus said to her turning back to the window.

"Why do you even care so much about her?" Rebekah asked. "Her life has nothing to do with you."

"But what if this is another way out for me? What if because she is another doppleganger I can use her blood to make more hybrids?" Klaus said turning to Rebekah. She could see hope blaring in his eyes.

"After all this you still want to create hybrids?"

"More than anything else.'' He said turning away again.

"Then why don't you just take her blood and see if it works to turn a wolf? Wouldn't that be a lot easer?"

"I think I am going to take a small donation right now to see just that. Trouble is I have to find a werewolf to turn."

"How are you going to get into the house?"

"I posed as the grocery service person and they invited me in no questions asked. The little one didn't even recognize me. Now," Klaus said standing up. "If you will excuse me I have some blood to go take."

"Okay then." Rebekah said standing up also. "When her blood can't create hybrids can we leave because she doesn't have anything to do with our lives?"

Klaus smirked at her, "If it turns out she has nothing to do with our lives then we can leave."

O

I pulled back the covers on my bed after saying goodnight to my family. I was really tired out practice. Apparently my coach's girlfriend broke up with him so guess who he took it out on. If you guessed me, you were right. I got in bed and pulled the covers over myself trying to get comfortable.

I jumped when Donald ran into my room because Rose's stupid kitten was chasing him.

"Albert leave Donald alone." I said as Donald jumped onto my bed and tried to lie down. Albert had other plans though.

"Albert!" I said when he jumped literally right onto Donald. I groaned. I actually had to sit up from where I was comfortably laying to pick him up to stop him from starting a fight. I practically screamed when I realized I would have to walk to put him out of my room.

"I swear cat," I said as I got out of bed and walked to the door, "If you keep annoying my poor Donald I will put you outside and you'll have to eat rats for food. Got it? Good" I said and put him down outside my room. I closed the door to keep him from getting back inside.

When I turned around I nearly had a heart attack. Some man was standing in my room. Before I could even get enough breath in my lungs to scream he had put his hand over my mouth. I tried to pull away from him but he had an iron grip on my arm.

He stepped closer to me and I recognized him as the creepy guy from the car. Looking me straight in the eye he whispered with a heavy accent, "Don't scream or alert anyone I am here. Go and sit on that bed." He pointed to my bed.

As if someone else controlled my body I started walking over to my bed and sat down on it. What the hell? I didn't want to do what he said!

"Good job. Now," He looked around my room and his eyes fell on a plaque I had that said Madeline Marie on it. "Madeline." He smirked. "I need your help."

"Why the hell would I help you?" I whispered. It was so quiet that I didn't think he would be able to hear but he smirked in acknowledgement.

He walked over to my doorknob and pushed the button in so that it was locked. "Because you won't have a choice."

I tensed as he started to walk toward me. My heart was beating so loud that I could feel it pounding my eardrums.

"What do you even want?" I asked him whispering again while thinking the worse. My voice didn't seem to want to go over that sound.

"Your blood.'' He stated simply and pulled something out of his pocket. As he unfolded it I saw that it was an empty blood bag with a needle attached to it by a tube.

"Are you serious?" I asked him in shock. When he nodded my heart started beating so fast I thought I might actually have a heart attack. I was beyond freaking out.

If there was one thing in the world I despise its needles. Once when I was younger a doctor tried to give me a shot and I ran under a table and screamed for an hour. Another time I kicked the doctor and they threatened to strap me down if I wouldn't behave. This time I was sitting in my room with some creepy guy and for some reason I couldn't move. Not a good thing for my heart.

He started walking closer to me and I started to hyperventilate. I couldn't even move to get away from him for some reason. When he saw me start to freak out he stopped for a minute.

"Calm down. It's not that bad." He said. When I didn't calm down he put the blood bag down on my bed and stood in front of me. He forced my head upwards and looked me straight in the eyes.

"Calm down now." When he said it I started to feel a lot better. I wasn't freaking out as much about the needle. It was just a needle right? My heart started beating at a normal pace and I stopped hyperventilating.

"Better. Stay calm and give me your right arm." Again, as if someone else controlled it my arm shot out toward him. He grabbed the blood bag off the bed and pulled out one of those rubber bandy things and tied it around the top of my arm.

"Do you even know how to do this?" I questioned him whispering again.

"Trust me I know how." He replied to me rolling his eyes. I watched as he looked at my arm to find a vein. He smiled and I guessed that he had found a good place to put the needle in because he picked it up off the bed.

I looked away and felt it go through my skin. I breathed out of my nose hard and felt blood leaving my body.

"Why are you doing this?" I whispered trying to take my mind off it.

"Reasons." He said. I turned my head toward him and glared. Out of the corner of my eye I saw my blood going into the blood bag. It was almost halfway full.

"But why do you even need blood? Couldn't you just go to a hospital instead of sneaking into my room in the middle of the night?" I whispered harshly.

"Done." He said, as he ripped the needle out of my arm, not to gently. I was a little light headed. When I saw the full blood bag I almost threw up.

"You ask why I need the blood?" He asked and I nodded.

As I looked at his face it started to change. His eyes became red and veins started to pop out underneath them. If my voice had been working I would have screamed out of terror long before I saw fangs coming out of his mouth.

He put the blood bag full of my blood down and started walking towards me. I drew in a scared breath and felt my eyes go wide. I still couldn't move.

My heart was freaking out again and my mind was racing. He pushed the hair away from my neck and scraped his teeth, no, fangs, against it. I started to hyperventilate again and he chuckled into my neck.

His fangs pierced my neck and I heard a sharp intake of breath and then realized it was my own. He was drinking my blood. Wait, he was drinking my blood?

HE. WAS. DRINKING. MY. FREAKING. BLOOD?!

'Vampire, vampire, vampire, vampire.' I kept thinking.

He pulled back from my head and I realized he was blurry. No, my whole room was blurry. Correction: My vision was blurry from blood loss. He wiped the excess blood off my neck with his thumb and then sucked it off his finger.

I stared at him really confused and really freaked out as he licked his lips. I was feeling really dizzy and a little sick.

He looked down at me and smirked. He studied at my neck and clicked his tongue. "Ugh, now I need to heal you. Why can't humans be more durable?"

He grabbed my glass of water off my bedside table as he bit his wrist.

'What the actual hell is going on here?' I thought to myself as I watched his blood drip into my glass.

"Drink this." He said looking me straight in the eyes and holding it out to me. If I had control over my body I would not take it, but I did.

Then I drank it completely repulsed by what I was doing. I didn't put the glass down until I had finished everything inside.

The man smirked at me again and took the glass away. He put it next to the blood bag, which was sitting next to my now sleeping cat.

He turned back to me and looked me right in the eyes again. I was guessing that was a vampire perk, having mind control.

"You will remember everything that happened here but you will not utter a word about it to anyone.'' He said.

He grabbed the glass and the bag and started to walk away. He turned around and looked at me one last time and smiled while saying,

"Sleep tight Madeline. Don't let the bedbugs bite."
