Chapter 4
The next morning when my alarm clock went off I shot up startled. I looked around my room and saw nothing out of the ordinary. As I hit the off button on my alarm I racked my brain to figure out why I was so scared.
Then I remembered the creep guy in my room with his freaking-ass blood bag and his creepy mind control abilities.
Not to mention the fact that he drank the blood out of my body.
I ran over to my door and turned on the lights. I looked in the mirror hanging on the door at my neck and saw nothing. Nothing? How could there be nothing there if ass-creepy guy had freaking drank my blood?
''What if it was a dream?'' I asked myself out-loud.
I walked back over to my bed and sat down on it. "Do you think it was a dream Donald?" I asked my cat petting him. He opened his eyes and blinked at me, which I took for a yes. So it was decided. I had dreamed it.
I had no further problems getting ready for school. I had a slight headache but it wasn't that bad so I didn't do anything about it. I didn't mention my dream to my dad or sister either.
As I got into the car at 7:09 to drive to school I looked over to the house across the street to see if the car was still parked in the driveway. It wasn't. My sister yelled at me to get into the car so we could leave right when I saw something move in the house.
"Maddy! Now! I can't be late again!" She said.
"Yeah okay." I said when I saw no further movement. "'Not like it was your fault or anything all those other times." I mumbled under my breath as I climbed into the car. My dad started driving out of the driveway and we were on our merry way to school.
We got there at 7:17 and had to stay in that same building until 2:26. TOURTURE.
O
"Elijah." Klaus said while opening the back door of the house. Elijah strode past him nodding and looked around.
"This is the perfect place to spy on the girl." Klaus said pointing to the house across the street. "Actually you will be waiting here to see her while I go elsewhere."
"I have to take orders from you?" Elijah said sarcastically.
"You don't have to but I think that you might be interested in what you see." Klaus said winking at him.
"Where is Rebekah?" Elijah said to Klaus who was walking to the door.
"Trying to find me a werewolf." Klaus said while putting on his jacket. "Look at us. A happy part of our family working together!" He smiled before walking through the back door and speeding away.
O
Rose and my mom got out of the car right when we got home but I stayed inside to finish reading a chapter in the book I just got. I went to the library during study hall to get it and I was already halfway done.
"I love books!" I said to myself when I finished the chapter. I put my bookmark in and hugged the book. I unzipped my backpack and put it inside before opening the car door and stepping out facing the garage.
As I went to put my backpack on something slammed into me and I flew across the driveway. I hit the ground painfully hard and the wind was knocked out of me.
What the hell is going on? I thought to myself as I looked up and saw a man standing next to the car. He looked seriously angry, like he wanted to kill someone angry.
Had he pushed me down? Was that how I had gotten there? But how could someone be that strong, I was like 20 feet away from him, how could he have pushed me that far?
I pushed myself back, a little scared of him, before he was suddenly right in front of me. "How did you do that?" I yelled as he grabbed my wrist in an extremely hard grip and I cried out in pain.
All of a sudden everything became a blur until we unexpectedly stopped moving inside a house.
"How did we get here?" I yelled at the guy trying to pull away from him. We had literally just been in my driveway, what had just happened?
He pushed me forward and I tripped over my own feet, causing me to fall to the floor hitting my elbow hard. It didn't even look like he had tried to push me hard and yet it felt like my elbow had broken.
Yet again he was suddenly in front of me. How was he moving so fast? I barely had the time to look up into his face before he grabbed my throat so hard I could barely breath. He pushed me up against the wall behind me, so my feet were not even touching the ground. I grabbed his hand with both of mine to try to push myself out of his grip so I could breath better, but to no avail.
My jaw dropped at how much it he was hurting my neck. He was inhumanly strong and I had no idea why he was using that strength against me. I'd never even met him before, let alone done anything wrong to him.
I had been too busy paying attention to the fact that he was crushing my windpipe to realize that he was speaking. I tuned in for a minute to hear what he was saying but I didn't really understand. "…After all these years? Do you even understand what you did? Klaus chased me for over 500 years because he believed I told Katerina about the curse."
I came to the conclusion that this guy was definitely on drugs. What the hell was he talking about, running for 500 years and curses?
He suddenly pushed me up against the wall harder and I cried out in pain. That's when I started to not be able to breath at all. I tuned out what he was saying and tried to claw at his hand to get it away from my throat.
With the remaining air in my lungs I managed to get out one word, "Please." I groaned, still clawing at his hand.
Right after I had groaned out what I thought would be my last word for my lack of oxygen, the door of the house burst opened.
It was the ass-creepy blond chick from the car yesterday. I saw her look over to the guy who was holding me up by my neck and she rolled her eyes looking bored. Seriously? He was literally killing me; a little help would be nice.
"Elijah." she said and then appeared behind him somehow. I guessed that my oxygen deprived brain was making me see things because one second she was by the door and then next she was behind him.
My eyes were growing foggy as the lady tried, not very hard to pull the man, Elijah I guess, off of me. They looked like they were arguing but yet again I was tuned out trying to wrench his hand off my neck with tears in my eyes.
It seemed like I hadn't been able to breath for like an hour but it was probably only about a minute. I figured he was going to suffocate me until the lady shouted out, "She's not Juliette!" and Elijah let go of my throat.
I dropped to the ground and stared coughing and wheezing, trying to get air. I grabbed my throat and massaged it a little where he had grabbed me. It hurt like a bitch.
I took a few deep breaths and appreciated how nice the air felt in my lungs. Once I had enough air, I started to listen to what they were saying.
"She has a heartbeat, listen." The lady said looking bored again.
What? What did having a heartbeat have to do with anything and how would they hear it anyway?
After a minute of silence where the Elijah-guy was just staring at me, he turned to the blonde girl and said, "How? She should be a vampire, it's been 500 years."
Wait a second, vampire? What? I was so right before, this guy was definitely on drugs.
"Because she's not Juliette!" The girl groaned. "You're supposed to be moral Elijah you can't just go around killing innocent human teenagers." The second part sounded almost like she was mocking him. Was she mocking him about killing people? Did that mean he had killed people?
By the way he just treated me I guessed that answer was yes.
In the midst of their conversation was a very scared and confused teenager with a hurt neck who was sitting on the ground. I had no clue what was going on or what they were even talking about.
While I was thinking the extremely happy thought that Elijah had killed people, guess who bent down in front of me. If you guessed Elijah, ding ding ding! You were right!
He looked at me sympathetically as I cowered away from him like a scared animal. His lips went into a straight line as he looked at my neck.
"I'm sorry about that." He said. "I thought you were someone else." I didn't reply to him. I was too busy thinking that he almost killed me, and if the lady hadn't told him I wasn't Juliette, he probably would have.
Why did he think I was her anyway?
Best was to find out the answer to that question, ask the psychopath, "Why did you think I was someone else." My voice came out small and shaking when I asked him that.
"Long story." He said and then turned to the girl. "Where is Niklaus?"
"Who are you people? What do you want?" I asked my voice a little stronger than before.
The girl rolled her eyes at me and then looked back over at the man and started talking.
"I found Klaus a werewolf and he's going to use her blood to try and turn her." The lady said nodding at me.
"Hello? Let's not be rude now and tell me what's going on. It's the least you can do after kidnapping me." I said to them, hoping I sounded less scared than I felt. I hadn't really been listening to what they were saying. I just wanted my questions answered.
The girl glared at me but the man smirked and let out a little laugh.
"What?" He said when the girl turned her glare on him. "It was funny."
"Names would be nice at least." I murmured looking away from them.
"They would wouldn't they?" The girl said and then turned my face over towards hers forcefully. "Now sit there," She pointed in a bare corner, "And shut up."
It was like my dream, me not being able to control my own body. I stood up and walked over and sat in the corner. Pulling my knees up to my chest and stared at my shoes as I started putting puzzle pieces together in my mind.
This creep lady was able to control me just like the creep man from my dream was. This new creep man, Elijah, was asking about vampires and thought I was some girl named Juliette for some unknown reason. Last night the creep man in my dream had been the ass-creepy man who had been driving with this creep girl.
So what I got that far: The creep man, new creep man Elijah, and creep lady were all working together.
Then my brain started churning up thoughts faster. What if it wasn't a dream last night? I mean this lady in real life was able to control my mind like the man from the dream. The man from my dream drank my blood so he was obviously a vampire. This guy here called me a vampire. What if… What if vampires were real?
'No, impossible.' I thought to myself.
'But is it?
Yes it's impossible.
No it's not.
It's not?
Yes it is.
No it isn't.
It's not?
IT'S NOT!
Omg. These people are… vampires?
THESE PEOPLE ARE VAMPIRES!'
My head shot up and my jaw dropped as I looked at creep lady and man. They were talking in hushed tones still and I studied them freaking out inside.
After a couple minutes creep lady looked over to me. "You look like you've seen a ghost." She commented at my expression. I closed my mouth and pressed my lips together but I knew my eyes were still wide.
"Her heart is beating erratically. I wonder what's going on in her head." Elijah said.
"Let's just find out then." The lady said striding over to me. She bent down in front of me and said while looking straight in my eyes, "Calm down and the tell us, what are you freaking out about?"
"You're vampires aren't you?" I said my voice shaking. She looked up at Elijah smirking.
"Cat's out of the bag now Elijah." She said as he rolled his eyes at her.
