A/N: OMG I'M SO SORRY! This has taken forever to write, and get posted. My life has been crazy hectic lately, and I wasn't able to get this sucker out. 5 more chapters after this. It is planned out but I need to get it written. On with the story. Reviews are helpful!

Off a concealed portion of the island…

The Jewel made port and its crew made sure that they had done so as discreetly as possible. After sailing around the island a few hours it was determined that the heavily wooded portion of the island was their best bet. It offered shelter, and clear views of the caves.

Meanwhile, Emma began preparing a satchel for herself and Killian to take on the island. Only one of the crew would make camp on the island as a messenger between their encampment and the ship. She packed some dried meats and a few crackers and loaves of bread in one satchel and a skin filled with water as well as a kit with clean clothes and needle and thread with a small compact mirror to be used as a means of communication with their ship and their family should the need ever arise. Her mother had taught her well in terms of surviving in the forest. She steadied herself and made for the top deck with the two satchels.

Killian gave orders to his crewmen to keep a wary eye on the island at all times, and as Emma emerged on deck he relieved her of the satchels and took them upon himself. He'd sent his first mate, Starkey, onto the island to begin scouting for a plausible camp. His chest tightened as he thought of his son. Though he'd yet to meet him, his heart already knew the boy, and loved him fiercely. He wanted to retrieve the boy and sail off as soon as possible and start the life with Emma and his family that they should have already had years ago.

Soon, the couple made their way to a small camp Starkey had set up, and they gave him his relief. Killian was stay as guard for the next few hours and prepare a small meal for the three of them. They would need all their strength to make it out of this island alive.

Island Caves…

Henry's play with the bear family had led him through a maze within the caves, they gave chase and his laughter and their little growls could be heard echoing in the smaller caverns. As Henry crawled through a particularly narrow passage, he heard voices, human voices. He pressed his little ear against the wall of the cave, and he could hear them a touch louder,

"Have you checked on the boy Gifre?"

"No sir, but I'll be bringing him some food in a bit."

"Don't bother, our guests have arrived, and we won't need him much longer."

"Sir? Surely you don't mean to kill the child?"

"I don't need him, I want his mother. The brat is of no concern to me. Bring him to me in an hour's time. I'll need the bait to lure the swan to caverns."

Henry's eyes began to water, him mama was here. And soon he would leave these caves, he turned from the voices quickly and caught up to his furry friends. He would stay with them until he could find his mama. He followed the cubs until he saw a light at the end of their cave. Escape! He would leave and hide in the wilderness like Grandma Snow had in the stories. Soon they left the cave and Henry stopped to enjoy the feel of the sun on his face once again. The mother bear had found them again and nudged Henry's head with her nose, urging him to move with them. They made their way into the thick of the forest, stopping every so often to play as the mother bear looked on. As the sun began to set, the bears lead Henry into the deepest part of the forest, where amongst the thicket they had a home. As though she was his mother, the large bear nuzzled Henry's neck causing the boy to giggle, as she pointed him toward a bush with berries. He ate his fill and then curled up with the furry family that had taken him in. As he fell into a deep sleep he dreamt of his home and family, unknowing that in only a hundred feet his parents had made camp.

The Encampment…

After a brief respite, Killian and Emma began to hunt around their immediate area of forest to get a vague lay of the land, and what to expect on the island. They searched for any clues as to where Henry could be, but no such luck. As they began their trek back to their camp, they noticed a small thicket with multiple bear tracks big and small leading from caves up a narrow trail. Since no bears were to be seen they quickly made their way back, noting that they would need to string up supplies during the night.

Emma stared into the fire Starkey had started when he saw them making their way to the small camp, made up of two lean-to's. She sat with her knees pulled into her chest. After hiking a good portion of the island, Killian had began charting a map so they could pinpoint where their son was. She was so worried, her Henry was on this island somewhere, he could be alone, he was more than likely scared, and probably cold, she'd noticed the chill in the air as the sun had begun to set, leaving the dense forest dark and unyielding.

Starkey volunteered to stand watch while his captain and princess got some much needed rest. Killian led Emma to their lean-to and gathered her in his arms. He would do whatever it took to get their boy back and go home.

Rothbart's Cavern…

Rothbart paced in front of his mirror, the image of the princess sleeping in her captain's arms swimming in front of him. He would have her, no force would stop him. He would have his swan and her kingdom. He waved away the image, and began to chant, his hands glowing a dark red over an abandoned chess board. The pieces slowly began to take the form of dark knights and soldiers. He would take them back to the main cave, his castle, and make them beg for their lives.
