Bluestar

Bluestar. The voice filtered through Bluestar's dreams.

Bluestar.

Bluestar?

"Bluestar!" Fireheart's mew was strangely muffled. Bluestar shook her head, but the lightheaded feeling refused to go away. She tried to sit up, but could only lift her head. There's something wrong with me. But it doesn't matter anyway. Everything is hopeless now.

"Fireheart?"

Fireheart's pelt was brighter than usual, it seemed, "Bluestar, I'm glad you're awake. I wanted to ask your permission to invite a new apprentice into our Clan. His name could be Cloudpaw."

"What?"

"A new apprentice. He is the son of my sister. She's a kittypet, but she can't care for him anymore. Is that alright?"

"Who?"

His mew was reassuring, "I'm glad you think it's okay, Bluestar. You're a fantastic leader."

"I am…?"

"Of course you are. Now take your poppy seeds and go back to sleep." Like an obedient kit, Bluestar obeyed Fireheart's comforting purr. He was such a good cat. He would protect ThunderClan. He is the one who would save the Clans.

It wasn't until Bluestar felt the thorns beneath her paws that she could think clearly once again. She didn't feel angry at Fireheart for using her. She felt sorry for him. I know what he will become. And he will regret it.

"Fireheart does have a way with words." Bluestar's ears twitched as Spottedleaf stepped out of the shadows, like she was trying to frighten off an annoying fly.

Bluestar shrugged, "He could have been so much more. He could have been our savior."

"From what? The new threat?"

Bluestar's blue stare was steady, "No. From cats like you. You could have lead a Clan, Spottedleaf. You and Fireheart could have ruled ThunderClan side by side."

Spottedleaf's amber eyes flashed, "You really can't believe that. The Clans, the Code, all of that foxdung. A true cat can overcome those obstacles. The Code is only a creek that the strong must leap over."

A raspy purr caused Bluestar to flinch, "Big words. Big, big, big words for such a little, little, little cat."

"Get lost, Redtail," Spottedleaf hissed, "You are making me lose my temper."

The tom's head lolled to the side like a lazy, curious kit, "Oh really. You really are sooo scary. You spend all of your time using big words, and batting your pretty eyes. All of the other cats think you're sooo dangerous," he unsheathed his claws, inspecting them with a frightening intensity, "These claws. These pretty, beautiful, ugly claws can end you, Spottedleaf. End you like an elder's story. It's funny how they fear you."

Spottedleaf rolled her eyes and glanced at Bluestar with a look of sheer boredom, "I hope you enjoy yourself then, Redtail, because there is quite a lot more fear to come."

Another purr, "I'm looking forward to it."

Sparrowfeather appeared out from behind Redtail, like a hound materializing from the mist, "So, we're all here. I think it may be time to fill in Bluestar. And give her another warning. Which will be undoubtedly ignored."

Spottedleaf purred, "Of course it will be. She refuses to respect us. She thinks that we only visit her. How very, very silly she is."

"Silly, silly, silly," Redtail was humming as he sliced leaves into brown strands, "Silly, silly, silly."

"What are you talking about? What other cats, Sparrowfeather?"

Sparrowfeather sat down, her tail folding over her paws, "Only one that you need to know of. Fireheart. I personally told him to act quickly. To take over ThunderClan."

A spark of anger stirred inside of Bluestar, "That's a mistake. He could tear himself apart with that power."

"Then we won't have to tear him apart ourselves," Redtail murmured, still enthralled by his leaves.

"Maybe you're not as dumb as you look," Spottedleaf mewed with narrowed eyes.

Bluestar felt like she had been hit by a falling tree. These cats weren't dreamers. They weren't bumbling idiots. They were killers and thinkers. They could both plot and act. They were a force beyond anything Bluestar had encountered before. They had both the power and the means to fulfill their plans. To take over the Clans and abolish the Code. Even Fireheart couldn't match them.

She couldn't stop them. But maybe they could help her help the Clans. For the moment.

"So," She began, "What is this warning that I am going to ignore?"

Sparrowfeather gave her a humorous look, "Bored of our company already? Fair enough. Defeat can be a sour sight."

Bluestar didn't let her fear show, "Let's hope neither of us have to see that."

Redtail purred and looked up from the pile of carefully cut leaves, "You're funny Bluestar. Very funny. I like you, Bluestar."

"Thank you. I'm glad you think so."

Sparrowfeather interrupted them, but she seemed a little humored, "I hate to break up your budding relationship, but I think Bluestar would prefer to be going. As for your warning, beware the hounds. They will drench your Clans in blood."

A spear of fear pierced Bluestar's heart, "Why can't these warnings ever be cheerful?"

Spottedleaf seemed to sense Bluestar's discomfort, "Then they wouldn't be warnings, would they?"

Sorry for the Friday upload again. When I tried to post it yesterday, it told me that the webpage was not available. Anyway, thanks for reading!
