A/N: Finally, here is chapter 6. I hope you all enjoy the chapter, and again, if you have any questions feel free to pm me or ask it in a review and I'll get around to responding it ASAP. Now, a chapter from the POV of Irisaer.
"Finally! Training is done! Fiiiiiiiiiiiinally! That. Was. The. WORST!"
"Stupid training." I quietly speak, sitting down on the bed. "I'm gonna sleep."
"W-What? No! We can't just go sleep like that! It's still the afternoon!"
"I'm tired. And there is nothing to do."
"Come on Iris. We'll find something to do."
"I dun wanna."
"Iris... Alright, alright. How about this. You get some sleep and I'll find something to do then wake you up, sound good?"
I put my hand over my mouth as I yawn before laying down. "I guess..."
"Ok... So, I'll be back then Iris..."
I crawl forward, reaching the pillows on my bed as I cuddle up with them, closing my eyes.
"Hey! Wake up Iris! I found a few things we can do!"
"...mgrgr..." I grumble, opening my eyes and rubbing them.
"So, we should totally go swimming!"
I shake my head as I look at her, very tired.
"Oh... Well, how about we go to the park?"
Once again I shake my head and the disappointment on her face shows.
I want to sleep.
"Then what about... We go learn to dance!"
"No."
"Hmm..."
Seras continues to list things and I keep shaking my head, or saying no for things I really don't like to do.
"Come on Iris... At least go to a play with me... I want to support my other friends who are in one tonight..."
"I want to sleep."
"Alright, fine. I'll go find Quasfay, maybe she'll want to do something."
She pouts in defeat then walks out of the room.
I rest my head again on the fluffy pillow, all nice and bouncy. I close my eyes again, and drift to sleep.
"I-I mean... I guess I could go..."
I open my eyes slowly, and see my sister sitting on the edge of my bed. She looks nervous.
"Really?! Thank you! It would mean so much!"
I poke her butt with my toe and then cover most of my face with my sheets, except my eyes.
"H-Hey! I-Iris don't do that!"
I stick my tongue out at her and giggle.
She always freaks out when I do that.
"Y-You're... You're so silly. Don't you want to go see her friend's play?"
Just like before, I shake my head slowly.
I don't want to see a play. Those are boring. I want to just relax.
"Alright, if you say so."
"Hey Quasfay! Let's go swimming or something before the show!"
"Swimming, huh? I haven't done that in forever. Sure. That can be fun."
I don't like swimming either.
...well. Not when I'm tired.
"Yay! Today is going to be great! You sure you don't want t-"
"No."
"O-Okay... Come on Quasfay, let's go!"
"Hey! You don't gotta pull me like that!"
My sister shouts as Seras drags her out of the room.
Hopefully now I can sleep with no interruptions. For the third time I lay my head on the fluffy mountain of pillows, falling asleep.
My eyes slowly open as I rub them gently. Just like before. Taking a few seconds before I can actually see, I yawn quietly.
There is a smile on my face, a small one. I got to sleep uninterrupted after all.
Quickly I stand up and dress in something I don't usually wear. All of these bright colors I always wear are weird. Quassy picks those out. My hat is the only thing that's my normal.
"I should probably go get more berries... Maybe even more of those flowers..."
Slowly I start walking out the building, breathing in the fresh air.
I really do like the fresh air. The outside is nice. A lot of people don't think I like it though.
I keep walking and walking.
Before I even realize it, I'm in the Cargo Wharf. This walk seems so short sometimes.
"Eyo Iris! Salemin's all ready for yeh!"
"Ok Ciara."
"Haha, yuh never gonna learn, huh? It's Ciaran."
"Ciara sounds better." I stick out my tongue, mocking him.
"Maybe for a pet name!"
"You'd be a silly pet. Your voice is funny."
I feel a hand on my head and I close my eyes and pout, silently.
"You be safe now, you hear?" Ciaran says softly.
Nodding, I leave, heading over to our ship. The Wharf has so many different ships... It's scary.
This ship looks like ours... But the tag says that it isn't. I gotta keep look- There it is.
I spring into action, speeding over to our ship. I look over at the tag, 'Falahein'. This is it. Heading into the ship, I set up everything needed.
After a minute or so, the ship heads out of the Cargo Wharf.
The chilled air blows through my hair. I put my hand on my hat to keep it from flying off as the skyship travels through the air.
I've seen this sight so much, but I never get tired of it.
The beautiful ocean, the fish dancing within, the breeze blowing through the trees and grass.
It's calming.
I close my eyes, and sit down, watching the scenery go by.
It's actually a relatively short trip to the Lush Woodlands. The airship starts to descend, entering a clearing before the entrance to the labyrinth.
I patiently wait for it to make a full stop at the bottom before I leave the airship.
"Thank you Mr. Ship. I'll be back soon." Waving at the ship, I descend the flight of stairs excitedly.
"I have to get more berries. And some of those flowers. Wait!" My legs start moving as I sprint back up the staircase and enter the Skyship once again. I quickly grab the forgotten rucksack. "I can't leave you. How can I carry everything if I don't have anywhere to put it?" Once again, I descend the flight of stairs cheerfully.
The woodlands lives up to its name. Everything is just so gorgeous here. I really do like this place. It's so soothing.
I move forward, and onto the invisible path I etched into my memory. This path always brings me to the berries.
I almost forgot.
I halt my movements, and place my bag on the floor, opening the bigger section. I reach inside, pulling out a small metal bell connected to a long string, like a necklace. Looking at it for a few seconds first, I put it around my neck, and close up my bag.
Warding bells are so helpful. It keeps the stupid monsters away so I can travel here by myself.
With my equipment all set up, I begin to tread forward again, my boots pressing into the soft ground.
Was it raining? The ground feels extra soft today... It's most likely wet.
I don't stop moving, I keep going to reach my first destination. And with great success, not a single enemy attacks me as I get closer and closer to my goal.
I turn a corner, and there it is. The giant plant that grows those berries.
I can feel the smile growing on my face, as I proudly walk toward it.
I get down on my knees and begin to slowly look over the plant, feeling each branch before I place two napkins on the ground. Placing a small towel in the middle of the napkins, I begin picking berries.
Left napkin is for poisonous, bad ones. Right is for regulars. And the middle is for the super ripe and juicy ones.
I follow that setup, placing berries on the three spots after I examine each one.
Only two poisonous ones. That's good. Not too many ripe ones though...
I feel myself frowning, a bit disappointed by that, but continuing nonetheless.
"Why do you need three categories for them?"
A voice comes up behind me, startling me for a second. I turn my head, looking at a hooded figure.
"You're not an enemy today?" I quietly ask, giving her a serious stare.
"No, I am not here to spill blood."
"Good. That stuff is stupid."
She nods, then continues. "So, would you care to explain the three sections?"
"These on the right are just regular berries." I pick one berry from the right pile and hold it in my hand. "This one is for the super ripe ones. They have a lot of juice in them, and if held incorrectly, you'll pop them. So they have to be in this towel for carrying things that are super delicate. They're rare, so you want to preserve each one." I lift up one of those berries as well, and let it roll onto my palm alongside the other one. "These ones are bad. They are poisonous. So you want to avoid eating them."
"Wait, really? I thought those berries were entirely safe?"
Her voice is soft and quiet, somewhat hard to hear from where she is. But that's ok.
"It's not deadly, unless you eat a bunch them. The others get rid of the poison in your body. So if you eat a bunch of them, you'd be alright. Here." I hold my palm out toward the hooded girl.
"Huh? No, I couldn't take those. They're yours."
"That didn't stop you before."
My words hit the sniper as she takes a step back. Regret showing on her face.
"Well..."
"So take it."
She stares at my hand for a minute, before finally moving over and picking the berries from my palm. She holds one, looking at it closely, before putting it in her mouth.
"That was the juicy one?"
"No. The other one is."
"Really? The one I just had was really juicy..."
"Not a lot of people find them when they're ripe, since they are so rare. Try the other one, you'll be able to tell the difference."
"Alright." She puts the other berry into her mouth, moving her hand to her sides. "Mmm... There is a lot more juice in this one..."
"See. I told you."
I feel a proud smile come onto my face. A mocking one at that.
"Y-Yeah... You were right."
"You can pick some for yourself if you want."
"Huh? No, that's quite alright. Those are yours."
"It doesn't matter, I'm offering to share. You'd be picking them too. I don't own the plant."
"..." I turn back to the plant, and it only takes a moment for me to hear footsteps behind me. Turning to the side, I see her face under her brown hood. She's a rather pretty lady.
She puts her right knee on the ground, holding her balance with her left leg.
"So. How do I tell which one is which?"
"The bad ones have only three layers of skin. So they feel softer, but the inside feels more packed. They also have a slight red tint if looked at under the sun. You should try to look at it underneath a really strong light source though, since you're just a novice."
I pick a berry from the plant, gently holding it. Lifting it up, below the ray of the sun, I examine it from an angle.
"These light blue tints are for regular berries. They feel harder on the outside, but soft on the inside. For the rare ones, they are soft on both. But you'll know when you see them."
She simply nods at me, before aiming her attention to the plant. She went quiet, as she focused on doing what I said, picking a berry and examining it. I do the same, as we sit there for minutes. Not uttering a single word.
Hmmm. No more berries? I guess we took them all.
"They grow back within one cycle. So tomorrow there will be more."
"It's out?"
The girl searches around the plant, not seeming to find any more. I simply nod as she turns her disappointed gaze back to me.
"You got a decent amount, so that's good. Did you find any bad ones?"
"No, I didn't. No juicy ones either though."
"Good. It seems I was right. Since I've started picking them, the amount of bad ones has been drastically decreasing."
"You've been doing this for a while?"
"Since my third day in the guild."
"I'm sure it's been a long enough time to get used to this."
Nodding, I pick up a regular berry and eat it.
It has a sweet and sour, fruity taste to it. Lots of people don't like it. I love it though.
"Where is the rest of your guild?"
"Tharsis. Watching some boring play."
"A play?"
"Yeah. Our medic was an actor. The group she was with was doing some story. I didn't want to go, even though my sister tried to make me."
"You have a sister too?"
"Our leader. She's the one who freaks out over stuff."
"The one who went after me..." She spoke quietly, under her breath.
"Hmm?"
"Nothing."
I heard what she said, but it's funny seeing people never own their words.
"You should meet them. They're nice people."
"I don't believe that is the best idea."
"They'll get over it."
"Even still, it does not sound like a good idea."
"Alright. What are you gonna do now though, now that your guild is gone."
"That wasn't my guild. I don't have a guild."
"You don't have a guild?"
"No. I go with guilds and groups occasionally, when they hire my services. But I am still not with any guilds."
"Why not?"
"Finding my sister is more important than a guild."
"You lost your sister?"
"Yes... And I'm going to find her."
"Why not ask for help?"
"It's not right to drag others into my business."
"Was it right to help a bunch of thieves and rob people?"
"No, now stop it with all the questions."
I look at her face, seeing the frown on her lips. I pick up another berry, moving it to her lips, as she gently eats it.
She didn't get any rare berries. All of hers were regular ones. This should cheer her up a bit, I hope.
Just like Vassy, I place my hand on her head and pet her. Her face flushes red and she looks at me weirdly.
"What are you doing?" Her voice is a bit off.
"Vassy does this. And it calms people down." I find myself answering, unsure of what it really does.
"I... I see. Well, thank you."
"It's fun. It's ok."
"Hmm..." The girl looks up, staring at the clouds in the sky.
"That one looks like a shark."
"I don't see it."
"A hammerhead shark. He's got funny eyes."
"You've seen one of those before?"
"In pictures. My mom used to go around with a fisherman, trying to hunt this hammerhead shark. It always escaped though. Well, they managed to kill it after a bunch of tries."
"You're mom was an explorer?"
"Mmhm. The day my mom came back after killing the shark, she was stronger than everyone else in her guild. But it only lasted about a day and everybody passed her soon after since they didn't want to lose to Alice."
"What was she? A monk?"
"No, she was a farmer."
"Huh?"
"Surprising, huh? She was a farmer who was in the main combat party."
"That's... Impressive. It must have been really hard."
"From what I heard, it was. But they did it. They were one of the most famous guilds out there because of what they did."
"Interesting."
"What's your sister's name?"
"... NoName."
"Hmm, ok."
She should have just answered me. Oh well.
I stand up, the girl's eyes quickly focusing on me.
"You're done here?"
"Mmhm. I'm going to make my way to the second floor to get this flower that grows down there."
"And you're going by yourself?"
She looks at me, making a face of surprise.
I simply nod. "Unless you want to go."
"It's way too dangerous for a runemaster to go on their own. They can get outnumbered way too easily. That's not smart at all."
"If you're so worried, then just come along."
"H-Hey! Wait a minute! I never said I was worried... I'm just saying it isn't a good idea..."
She looks down, packing up all her stuff. I extend my hand to her and help her up.
"Alright, look. I'll go with you. But it's only because I'd feel awful if someone died since I didn't stop them."
"If that's what you want to believe. Come on, let's go."
Click. Clack. Click. Clack.
The sounds echo down the staircase, coming from my boots. Her boots are silent. It's weird.
But I like the clicky clacking. It's... Different. But it keeps my attention. It keeps me awake too.
Clickclackclickclackclickclack.
"Umm, what are you doing?"
She stares directly at me. I just shrug, and stop slamming my feet on the ground. The beat returns to normal as I walk down the rest of the stairs. I jump off the last step, landing on grass.
"Over this way."
I take no time in waiting, as I already feel my feet moving.
"Wait up, it's dangerous here!" She quickly walks up behind me and continues, "Listen. Normally I'd camouflage through here, but I'm with you. That's not an option right now, so let's just take it slow."
She sounds like my sister...
"Yeah. Yeah. I got it. Let's just go."
We keep walking, side by side. Nothing happens, this is boring. If we took the shortcut we would have been there already.
"Uh..."
"What."
"What's wrong?"
"This is boring."
"... Aren't you the one who wanted the flower?"
"Yeah, but your way is slow. Let me lead the way."
"...will you be careful still?"
I nod slowly, as I turn to the side. Plants were all around us – they formed a wall or covered them.
"Right here is a shortcut." I place my hands against the center of the wall and slowly separate it, revealing a small passage.
"That was... I didn't know about that."
"I could tell. Let's go."
The prickly parts of the plants press against my clothes and skin, but it doesn't hurt. It's just irritating. And she's following right behind me anyway, so I can't just stop.
Exiting the other side of the clearing, I stand up, brushing off the bristles that stuck to me.
"Now what?" The quiet voice asks, standing behind me.
"The fun part."
She will most likely think I'm being sarcastic. This part is actually really fun.
I jump forward, landing with my tiptoes on a tiny rock sticking out of the water.
"What are you doing?!"
"Let's go." I hop off the rock I was on, and land onto another, as I signal the sniper to come forward.
Nervously, she jumps onto a rock and then another.
Before I know it, we are both hopping across the rocks, quickly crossing the lake.
"Watch out!"
I jump to a rock on the side, dodging a spray of powder. On the other side of the lake were about three venomflys.
I envision a small rock on the ground beneath the venomflys. They are all on the same line. The rock showed a symbol with fire on it, and it started to quickly turn to reality. The rune sat underneath the center fly as I tapped a smaller version of the rune in my sweater pocket.
It takes a second or two, but a big ball of fire explodes on top of the middle one, catching the other two on the side in a powerful blast. I can feel the heat from here.
The fire and smoke slowly fade away, the enemies nowhere to be seen.
"Ummm... Ouch. Your magic hurts."
"I do a lot of exploring on my own. So I need it to be strong. If I can't finish it in one or two runes, usually I have to run. I can't risk getting hurt or whatever if I can't kill it fast enough."
"Similar to what I do then... I have more options though, since it doesn't take much to prepare an attack."
As we spoke, we continued to cross the lake. Hopping from rock to rock, with no issues.
"See, wasn't that funner?"
"Well, it was more exciting, that's for sure... But if we had gotten poisoned, that could have just been it for us."
"If we just stayed aware, we wouldn't have been hit also. Like what we did. You don't need to worry about me so much."
"Alright..."
"Everyone treats me like a kid. Of course it gets annoying."
"You sound so much like her... Haha. Hahahaha!"
Her laugh expressed her light hearted emotions. As if she was somehow relieved.
"Like who?"
"My sister, haha. You act all independent, just like her too."
My cheeks puff up as I cross my arms.
I am independent. Why is she teasing me and saying I only act like it.
"She does that with her cheeks too! It's like seeing a second her!" She hugs me tightly.
This girl is so weird...
I look up at her, and quickly she realizes, letting go of me.
"We need to find this flower."
"Yes, yes. You're right. Let's keep moving."
The two of us continue looking for the flower on the second floor. The place where I first saw it... Was, well empty. It wasn't there. So we kept looking. The time passed, as we went on our quiet journey. Our conversations didn't last long, and neither did our stops. Mapping out the area, since most of where we traveled was uncharted territory for us.
"Hey. It's really dark. We should probably start heading back. Aren't you running low on those warding bells?"
"I still have one more. I'm just going a bit farther. You can go back if you want."
"Not happening. Too much of a risk."
"If you say so."
I know she's trying to protect me, but it's a bit annoying.
I don't stop walking. As she said, it's getting dark and late. Since we are on the second floor, the sky isn't visible from here. Just the dark ceiling... I'm not a fan of the second floor. There are Cutters everywhere. Unnecessary turns and paths. And you can't even look up to the stars...
I sigh and watched the bell hanging from my neck crumble away. Right away I take my last warding bell and set it up. I just keep walking.
Where is this flower? I just want at least one of these flowers!
"Is that it? Over there?"
Turning my head to the direction in which she pointed, I'm filled with glee. "Yes. That's it. Now, how to get to it is the issue."
"If we can sneak by that cutter over there, it's a direct path to it. He hasn't broken those logs, cause it's asleep. So I think we can get by."
"Alright. Finally doing something dangerous, huh?" I start walking toward the path leading to the flower and the sleeping Cutter, while I tease her.
"We gotta get it somehow, don't we? Gotta do what we gotta do."
"Fifteen feet from him, give or take..." she whispers to me. "So you got the plan, right?"
"Yes. Alright, your move."
With a nod, she starts moving forward.
As I watch her walk, slowly she starts to... To vanish? What the heck?
I just stare… confused. Suddenly, across the pathway, a hand pops up giving me a signal to move forward.
That's right... Snipers can camouflage themselves. I didn't expect it to make her near invisible though. That's scary. But careful... I gotta be careful...
Quietly, I go to the ground and crawl. As silently as I can. I still my breathing as I move. Quiet. Quiet. Quiet. The small bristling noise from the grass sends jolts through my body. I'm scared. But I need to keep calm...
My nerves continue to rise. No matter what I do, or think of. These noises are so loud. How has it been asleep all this time? Maybe it's not loud. It's just getting to me... Yeah...
Almost there. I'm almost there... Just a few more seco-
It roars loud, furiously, as I step on a twig.
"COME ON!"
"..." I don't get it. I don't hear her, only see her mouth moving. Chunks of wood from a tree branch fly around me, as I get up and run.
"Go, GO! I'll be right there! Get the flower you wanted!"
I do just as she said, trembling in fear. I hear arrows and growls grow further away as I follow the path. And there it is. The flower I was looking for.
I take a few deep breaths to calm myself.
"That was so scary... I've never been that terrified in my life. But here it is. I hope she's ok." I go to the ground by the flower, and get on my knees. Instantly I start harvesting the beautiful flower.
It only takes a minute until I have everything carefully placed in my bag. I take out an Ariadne Thread and begin looking around for her.
Hmm... I should head back to her, she might be in trouble...
Before the thought had even crossed my mind, I was already running back down the path toward her.
Huh? Where are they? Both the girl and the cutter vanished... This is weird.
I keep walking along the path, turning the corner carefully. Where the cutter was before... The wooden barricades were shattered. The tree's remains were scattered all around.
"He-"
"Aaaaaah!" I let out a scream as I am pulled to the side out of nowhere. My body and my mind are acting weird. I'd normally never scream.
"Shhhh! Quiet down, you don't want to get any attention." The girl said, her finger to my lips. Her stare was serious, we weren't safe just yet.
"You have a thread?"
I nod, showing it to her. Gently she takes it from my hand, and takes a quick look around. "Ready?"
I nod once more as she uses the Thread
Huh? Oh. We are here, in the town. That's good...
"Whew. Today has been a crazy day."
"Yeah, it has. I'm tired."
"Here, I'll drop you off at the inn. You should really get some rest."
"Ok. But I want to lead the way. I know shortcuts."
"Hmm... Ok, if you say so."
Of course she doesn't believe me, it's literally a straight walk to the inn. Regardless, she follows as I keep walking.
I grab her hand, and look at her. She avoids making eye contact with me, nervously. "Close your eyes."
"Why?"
"It's a surprise. Just do it."
"Fine, fine." She responds with a soft sigh and then a smile. She closes her eyes, and I start to bring her inside a building after a few good minutes of walking.
"Alright, stay right there for a second."
I let go of her hand and get something prepared quickly. I grab her arm and drag her forward once more. "Alright, you can open your eyes now."
As I said that, she did. I stood up in front of her, holding a piece of paper.
"What's this for...?"
"You can join the Falahein guild. This is the official documentation for it. I would like to have you with us."
"I... Uhh..."
"Please?"
I make sad, begging faces looking at her, remaining hesitant on her answer.
"Don't the others hate me though?"
"Nope. I won't let 'em. So just join already."
"This is also the best way for me to help you find your sister."
"Huh? H-Help me? T-That's ok, it's my burden anyway..."
"I'm helping whether you want me too or not. So you may as well make it more efficient."
"From what I know... You're not gonna change your mind."
"Right."
Once again, the girl sighed, but she hugged me right after. As she squeezed me she patted my head, and spoke up.
"Thank you. I guess I don't really have a choice now, do I?"
Ending the hug, she took the paper and pen and signed her name.
The guildmaster sat down and watched the whole event. "I'll take that now. Marie Marbarlo, you are now part of the Falahein guild. As for all new guild members, you will receive a starter set, and access to all of the Falahein guild's things, under the guild leader's supervision." He reached down and picked up a box and handed it to the blue-haired woman. "I know it won't be of much use to you, but still. Help the kids out. You guys got a lot to live up too."
I simply pout and speak up, slightly annoyed, "I'm not a kid..."
It was a natural response. Not something I thought of doing or saying.
A hand touches my head, and starts to pet me.
I don't even have to look to know it's her. I partially close my eyes, and wait.
"Don't worry about it. I know you're not a kid."
"Good. We should go back to the inn, I want to sleep."
"Yes ma'am. Let us be off."
The girl, Marie was it?, smiles at me and waits for me to start going.
She's still weird.
"WHAT THE HECK IS SHE DOING HERE?!" A voice blasts through the room, waking me up without an issue.
"She's here to rob us again!" A higher pitched voice follows after.
"H-Hold on a second, I'm not an enemy!"
"Bullcrap you aren't!" I open my eyes slowly, groggily to see my sister standing at the door, Seras cowering behind her. If she knows I'm awake, she'll question me... Must watch sneakily.
"I haven't gotten her name yet... But I was with her all day. And I'll be working with you guys from now on."
"What do you mean, 'working with us'? You better start making sense. And wait a second! Why are you on my bed?!"
"She told me it was ok to use this bed. But..." She stood up from sitting on the edge of the bed and continued. "You claim it to be yours, so I won't cause any issues about it. And your guildmate had went on-"
"Sshhhh..." I say super quietly to get her to stop. Noone else heard me.
"She and I made a friendship. And so, she had me officially register to the guild Falahein."
"WHAT?! IRIS?!" She stomps into the room and toward me, and I instantly close my eyes. "I know you're awake. I saw you close your eyes. Did she hurt you at all?! And is what she's saying true...?"
Ugh... Sisters are annoying. I'm asleep anyway, so it's ok.
"Excuse me, but if you don't believe me, you may check the contents of the kit the guildmaster had given me."
"Humph, fine, I'll check this. Because you are NOT in my guild."
"I know we have had very negative experiences in the past, and I will not ask you to forgive what I've done. But I take it she is your sister, and it seems this is what she wants. I am not an enemy, I'm an ally. But I have no issue returning to an enemy of yours if that is what you'd want."
I can't see her, probably glaring, but the hostility in her voice was obvious.
"Whatever." The clicking of the box slowly vibrated out. "Alright, let's see what's in here...hmm..."
"Quasfay... Is she lying?"
"It... Doesn't seem like it... She has the badge... Marie Marlbarlo... You truly say you're not an enemy?"
"Yes. If I was, I would have made my move already. When she awakes, you can confirm the activities she and I participated in over the course of the day."
She sighs and everything goes silent for a second. For a minute.
"Since I know she's awake and just pretending to be asleep to avoid having to answer questions; I will trust my sister's judgment. For now. Until I hear the full story, I won't fully trust you. Even after that I won't. And be aware, I don't like you either."
"That is understandable. I won't forget that."
"Good. If you're going to stay here, use that bed, if any." She's probably pointing to Vassy's bed. "She most likely won't be here tonight. And if she returns, she'll be the least likely to be annoyed at you using their bed." Mmhm. Yep. Vassy.
"Ok, thank you very much."
"Seras, let's go to the showers."
"Y-Yes ma'am!"
Soon after, I hear the door close and I peak out of the covers. Marie is standing by the edge of the bed.
I wonder how she would react...
Slowly I move my foot. In a quick movement, I poke her butt with my toe and hide my foot under the sheets just as fast.
"W-What in the world are you doing?"
Of course I didn't do it. I'm asleep. She's silly.
Instantly, she lifted up the covers I was under and looked at me. I closed mine immediately after.
After a second, hands touch my stomach and side.
Huh?
"Haha. Hahahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" I start laughing uncontrollably as she tickles me. "HAHAHA STOP HAHA! STOOOOP I CAN'T TAKE IT! AHAHAHA!"
Finally, she stops and smiles at me. I just heavily pant and look up at her.
"You're super ticklish, just like her."
"You woke me up." I pout, knowing it isn't gonna work.
"Uh huh. Sure."
"Yes I was. So I'm still tired."
"Honestly... I am too... But, I would not want to use someone else's bed. And annoy the other guildmates."
"That's ok. Just sleep in mine."
"But where would you sleep?"
"Mine."
"Umm. But, then, would I not be sleeping there?"
I just look at her. She's so weird.
"Here." I lift the covers, and move back a bit. Giving her space to get in.
"But... But... That's..."
"Hurry, I want to sleep."
She looks around before letting out a soft sigh and getting in.
It's weird. She's right in front of me. This is how Quasfay and I used to sleep when we were younger. It's oddly comforting... Why is she... Crying...
"Are you ok? What's wrong?"
"Nothing... Nothing... I'm, I'm just. So happy. I'm so happy..."
"Why?"
"It feels... Like I'm with her... Like I'm with NoName again... It's so comforting, I don't... I'm so happy..."
Quietly I hug her, softly.
And she hugs me back, a smile on her teary-eyed face.
"Thank you..."
