Chapter One

Kikyo took a deep breath as she began her trek passed the sign. "Onigumu...best to not think of things from the past." She murmured as she looked up to the window where Naraku stood looking out at her. She smiled slightly and began walking back again. "How did this happen to me?" She whispered to herself as she reached the door of the mansion.

Naraku sat there, waiting for her to return to the mansion. To his company. "Why can't she see that all I want is her company. Her love." He thought to himself. He sighed frustratedly. Kikyo walked into the room and poured some of the water into the vase on the table before setting the urn down on the floor. "Do you enjoy being here, Kikyo?" Naraku asked her softly. "It is a lovely place that you have here, but it could stand to have more lighting. It is rather dark in here." Kikyo replied as she placed the roses that she picked into the water filled vase. "Kikyo, that is not what I had asked you." Naraku said as he stood behind her. "Well, I...uh...I guess that I am happy here." She said reluctantly fiddling with her long finger nails.

"You guess, Kikyo?" He replied as he raised his hand to put in on his shoulder, then stopped putting it back down by his side. "I thought you were a woman who knew what she wanted and what she felt. Perhaps I was wrong." Kikyo swung to face him with tears rolling down his face. "Why did you bring me here? Am I to be your prisoner? What is it that you want from me, Naraku?" She demanded as her face filled with anger. "Kikyo, I just...I wanted company and love. Is that SO MUCH to ASK?!" He replied with pure frustration. "Yes it is so much to ask when you take a person from their home and force them to live in a drafty dark mansion with no hope of their happiness unless it makes you happy. I know who I am and what I want. I know what I feel. I am not happy here! Personally, I do not think I ever will be happy here and do you know who is at fault? YOU!" Kikyo screamed at him unhappily as her tears rushed down her pale face.

Kikyo took what was left of her pride and ran to her rooms. She slammed her door and flung herself onto the overly large bed in her room and sobbed into her pillows. She cried for what seemed like forever before she was able to calm herself down. Kikyo slid off her bed and walked into the bathroom and ran a hot bath to help her relax. "Why me? Of all of the women in this village why did he choose me? Doesn't seem like I am a good fit for him. He needs someone just like him so that he will be truly happy." She thought to herself. "Perhaps it is time to go back to my old friend." Kikyo whispered as she sunk herself into the hot bath.

Her heart broke at the thought of missing everything that her villiage was doing that she was missing out on. She tried to hold back her tears as she thought about her sister Kaede dancing in the summer sun, laughing and running barefoot through the woods. Her tears ran freely as she remembered her sister's beautiful smile and how much she missed hearing her laughter down the halls of their own home. "Oh dear sister. How I wish that I was there to run freely in the woods with you again." She whispered as she let the heat soak into her muscles.

Kikyo jumped as she heard a rap on her bedroom door. "Who is it?" She called from her brathroom. "Lillith, Master Naraku sent me to see you down to dinner." The girl called back from behind the door. "Shall I come in and pick an outfit for you?" Lilith continued. Kikyo sighed heavily. She did not want to be apart of this anymore. The fact that she had hoped that if she were to play along that he might let her go was foolish. "No. Tell him that I will not be joining him tonight. Tell him anything you wish about my absence, but do make sure that he knows that I will NOT be swayed to attend." Kikyo said as she stood up and drained the water from the tub. "Mistress Kikyo, please. He will not be happy to hear that you are declining his invitation." Lilith replied sadly. "Please, Mistress Kikyo." Kikyo wrapped herself in a silk robe and tied her tie as she walked towards the door. "Lillith, please. Do not make me do this." Kikyo pleaded sadly. "Very well, Mistress Kikyo. I will tell him, but he will not be happy."

Downstairs in the large dinning hall Naraku sat at the head of the table. "Master Naraku, please." Lilith said as she walked into the large hall. "Mistress Kikyo does not wish to join you for dinner. She seems rather distressed." Naraku looked up at Lilith with a rather angry look in his eyes. "Why does she not want to be here with me for dinner? Did she give you a reason why?" He looked at her with a cruel look on his face, his voice demanding. "All I know is that she is not coming down to dinner." Lilith said falling to her knees.

"Get out of my sight, Lilith. I do not wish to see you any furter. Do not come into my site till the moon sets tomorrow night." Naraku said irritatedly. Lilith stood up and turned on her heels and it took all that she had to not run from the room. "WHY?!" Naraku yelled as he slammed his fists into the the table. "Master, you need to regain control of your temper. Treat her like a woman. A princess. The one person who keeps your world from falling apart." Natalia spoke softly as she set a tea cup on the table between his fists. "Why can she not see that all I want is for her to be with me?" Naraku replied as he looked up at the red headed servent next to him. "Master, you have a temper that can scare people. Perhaps she wants to love you, but is afraid to because of your temper." Natalia spoke softly and calmly.

Kikyo sat down on her bed with a leather bound book in her lap. "This will be my only friend." She whispered softly as she picked up the book and held it close to her chest. Kikyo took her time as she dug in the drawers in her room for a pen. She smiled as she found a pen and sat back down on the bed with her leather book. Her heart raced as she opened the book to the first blank page.

Dear Diary

Today has been one of the hardest days of my life. I have been taken from my home several days ago and am now living in a mansion with a man who seems more beast than man. He seems to want something from me that I do not feel I can give to him. Seems that he wants me to love him, but I do not think that I ever could. He seems so cruel, but I wonder if there is something inside him that him that is sweet, kind and understanding. Perhaps in the days to come I will find out.

Kikyo sighed as she closed her book. She left out so much emotion because of her fear that he might find her friend and read it himself. "Perhaps the only way out is to leave in the dead of night. Return home and be with my family. My people." She thought to herself as she put the book under one of the extra pillows that the servents had given to her. Kikyo took a breath and blew out the candles near her bed and laid her head onto her pillows. Hoping for release.
