"I'm so glad you are okay!" Danielle said as she gave Julia a hug.
"What are you guys doing here?" Julia exclaimed as she pulled herself away from the hug.
"Luke had a hunch." She said as she peered over at Luke who was still petting Luna.
"How did you guys get…" Julia started only being interrupted by someone entering the tent.
Takaan walked in with Carmen and every one quieted down. Takaan spoke while Carmen translated for him.
"Welcome." Takaan took a seat in his chair and three men guarded the door. "What brings you here?"
"(Well, our future queen disappeared)." Kenji said as he stepped out. "(The only place we thought was here.)"
"(And why is that)?" Takaan said as he leaned forward in his seat.
"(You know the history.)" He replied with a harsh tone.
"(I am not like my grandfather!)" Takaan shouted as he stood up.
Luna was startled and hid behind Julia's legs. Her hand started glowing and everyone quieted down.
"(The outsiders are gathering their men. They are going to attack you. I am trying to protect the great city.)" Takaan stated as he sat back down. Carmen translated to let everyone know what was going on.
"How do they know about the gates? It's been decades." Angel asked in a low tone.
"I don't know. How many have they gathered?" Levi said as he stepped out.
"A whole army. But they carry the sticks that spit fire." Carmen translated.
They stood there in silence for a little while. Luna emerged from behind Julia's legs and trotted over to Carmen and Takaan.
"Well.." Julia said quietly as she turned to Danielle and the group. "I am going to help Takaan fight."
"How are you going to do that?" Luke asked with an eyebrow raised.
Julia flicked up her hand quickly toward Luke and released a quick breath. Snow flew through the air and hit Luke in the chest. She let out a little chuckle and smiled.
"So you are going to hit them with snowballs?" Will said as he laughed at Luke.
"No. I can do something much more lethal." She replied with a scoff.
"So you, and only and handful of warriors are going to fight?" Levi stated.
"Well no. I was hoping that some of our people would join. And maybe you guys." Julia replied with an eyebrow raised.
"Hmmm. It is going to take some time to train them, but I believe that we can do this." Angel said as he rubbed chin.
A smile curved on her lips. "Thank you so much."
Carmen translated their conversation and the mood seemed to feel happy. After a while of catching up, they decided to all head back to the city and start recruiting. They asked everyone who was willing to fight to head out to the open field. There were men ranging from sixteen to sixty-three. About a quarter of the troops were women who were willing to fight.
The word of the war spread to a few neighboring tribes. Soon rumors of how big their army was getting started to concern other Kingdoms and that the Legend with the white beast was leading this so called army.
Some of the best blacksmiths from both worlds, came and volunteered to help aid her army. Swords, axes, shields, spears, and many other weapons were crafted with the most valuable iron that was found in the mysterious world.
Throughout the hot summer days, men and women trained to become the best soldiers. Archers hit their marks, swordsman and women were unstoppable with their short swords, Calvary men and women rode their horses like they were born to, and Julia had perfected some of her abilities. Luna was no longer a puppy but she still seemed to play like one. The Litvak people got along with the natives and things seemed to be like there was no war between them at all. Julia, the gang, and Taakan became closer and closer every day. Almost everyone learned each other's languages. Soon they all knew what they were saying. When everyone completed their training, small celebrations broke out. The two people seemed like they were one Kingdom. They had no disagreements and they practically combined their land.
One day when everyone was done for the day, Takaan and Julia decided to go out and check to see how far the outsiders have gotten. As they stood on a massive cliff overlooking the land, a huge camp of maybe 15,000 tents were camped out in the plains.
"This is crazy." Julia sighed as she sat down on the ledge.
Takaan sat down next to her and they both stared out in the distance. The camp was lit up with torches. Various sized tents spread out on the plains like cows grazing in the sun. Horses were contained by the small river that ran down from the cliff. The sun started to set and casted bright oranges and pinks into the sky. Takaan sighed as if something deeply troubled him.
"What's wrong?" Julia asked in a soft voice.
He stayed silent for a moment and then spoke. "This would have never happened if my grandfather would have minded his own business. He was too greedy."
"What do you mean?"
"When the outsiders found the gate, they came to our people. My grandfather, who was the Ledaré at the time, invited them in. When they found out about the hidden city and its gold and treasures, they made an agreement. That when they took over the city, he would be the ruler of the kingdom if he lets them take as much gold as they wanted."
"What happened?" Julia questioned in curiosity.
"When I heard that they were going to attack your city, I ran as fast as I could to tell your father. But he did not know what I was saying. I did not know English at the time. He eventually caught on to what I was saying and warned the city. That was the last time I saw you. And your father."
Julia sat there in silence taking in what he had just said. "So they have been building up an army all of these years?"
"Yes."
"What have the other Kingdoms done about this?"
"They have done nothing that I know. The other Kingdoms most likely hate us for my grandfather's mistake."
"What If I visit them to try to help us?"
"I don't know what they will do. But because you are who you are, you will probably convince them to help us."
Julia nodded and then looked back out at the army. "I'm going. I will convince them."
Julia stood up and they both headed back to the city. When they got back, the gang and Danielle were relaxing in Takaan's tent.
"How's it looking out there?" Luke asked. He was laying on his back with his hands folded on his stomach.
"Not good. It is like they have gained a couple thousand in just a matter of weeks." Replied Takaan.
They both sat down and drank some water.
"Hey… everyone." Julia started. "I think I might have a way to get more soldiers."
Everyone stopped and listened.
"Well, there are other kingdoms here. And I think I might be able to ask them for their help."
"Who knows when they are going to attack? Do you think you will have enough time to go around the world and gather these troops?" Danielle asked with a concerned face.
"I might be able to buy you some time." Angel stated quickly. "I can send them a message. To taunt them in a way and question them."
"Okay." Julia sighed. "I am going to leave tomorrow morning."
"I will stay here with the queen to help protect in case they decide to attack." Takaan replied
"I will stay as well." Said Angel.
"I will aid you in this mission." Kenji said as he took a swig of his wine.
"Thank you Kenji. Would anyone else be willing to go? And protect the future queen?"
Luke looked at Levi and he nodded.
"The fellas and I would be more than happy to join you." Levi said.
"That settles it then. You will leave first thing tomorrow." Said Danielle.
The rest of the day, they settled down and spent the evening together.
A raven flew in and perched on his window seal. The night was cold and the sky was clear. The streets were cleared and nothing but mice scurried around the stone paths.
"Oh what is it now?" A voice said as he opened the window. "Oh, oh my."
A man about the age of forty stood at his window reading the message. He immediately exited the room and headed to the King's chambers.
"My king. Sorry to interrupt… I think you should read this."
"Oh what do you want? Is it another one of your messages where a peasant is pleading for food again?" The king said as he got up from his bed.
The man backed up as the King advanced toward him.
"N..n…no sir. It's more important than that. I think you will like it."
"Really? Why is that?"
"W…well, you know that story about the white beast? It is true. And it turns out, that the legend needs some help. They are planning to create an army to help defeat the outsiders."
"Hmm." The king said as he turned around. "I suppose that is good news. Leave."
The man quickly exited the chamber. The king walked over to his bed and lifted up the covers.
"Now… Where were we?"
Julia walked to the room where she had been sleeping in since she was taken by the Litvak. She only had a few sets of clothes. Takaan walked in the room and sat down. After She got done packing what clothing she had, they sat in silence. Takaan took Julia's hand and turned to face her. He started untying a leather bracer that was on his arm and She sat there with a furrowed brow.
"I have never shown anyone this."
He slid the leather off his arm and revealed markings. Light blue patterns wrapped around his tan forearm.
"I have visited our ancestors. When I was fifteen, the outsiders attacked us. An arrow hit my chest. I didn't survive it." He pulled down his shirt to reveal a scar on the right side of his peck. "I remember waking up in the most beautiful garden. And I saw my parents, and my ancestors. The great one said that I have a great purpose in our world. He told me what was going to happen in the future but…" He trailed off and then looked away rubbing his marks.
"What? What happens?" Julia asked in concernment.
"…He told me two things. That the kingdoms will all live in peace, but there will be a heavy price for that peace."
Julia sighed and then stood up.
"You have permission to go back to your city. There is no reason for me to keep you here."
"Thank you." She said putting a hand on his shoulder. She slid her hand down to touch his arm. As her hand glided over his markings, both of their tattoos lit up. Takaan stood up and escorted Julia back to Altaria. When they passed the abandoned house, He took her arm and turned her around. He planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Promise you will be careful."
Right after he said that, he turned and left. Julia walked off toward her kingdom and disappeared into the vegetation.
"I am expecting that you will let no harm come to her. . . King of the Otherian Empire." Takaan said in English as he stopped in his tracks.
Luke emerged from the shadows. "You have my trust." He replied.
Julia walked back to her and her mother's temple and started packing for the big trip. Her mother entered her room right as she fell asleep. She walked over and blew out her light then left. Everyone else packed and headed to bed.
.
Alrighty. Another journey begins! Oh and Altaria is the name of the hidden city. Sorry if I didn't clarify that earlier in the story. Thanks for reading and don't forget to review. Don't be shy! C: The next chapter should be up by the end of this week.
