A/N: Did you miss me? I'm back again with another kind of depressing chapter of this story. I really need to figure out how to make it happier. I can't keep this depressing stuff going for long. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

As usual, read, review, and enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Criminal Minds - CBS and ABC do. I say this for legal reasons and because I know how their respective parent companies react to anything using their material. But, that's another story.

One hour ago...

Meg had finally woke up from the medically induced coma. Kate was overjoyed to have her niece wake up from the coma. She was also feeling a little bit guilty about what happened between her and Reid a few weeks ago. She had freaked out on him and no one had seen him since. But that wasn't in the forefront of her mind.

"Meg," Kate said as she walked into Meg's hospital room.

"Hey, Kate," Meg said. "I'm so sorry, this is all my fault."

"What are you talking about?"

"If I hadn't been talking to that guy in the chat rooms none of this would've happened. I should've known better."

"Meg, it's fine. At least you're alive."

"My aunt is in the FBI, I should have known better. I was stupid and look what happened. Thank God your co-worker was there to save me."

Kate's guilt came back. "Meg, what happened down there, when Reid rescued you?"

"That was Reid?" Meg asked in shock. "Not how I would've pictured him."

"Meg," Kate interrupted. "What happened?"

Meg took a deep breath. "Well, Reid found me in the basement and cut me out of the ropes they had used on me. I told him that there was a bomb in the corner of the room and he went to stop it. He gave me his gun to use if someone I didn't recognize came out of the door. When he disabled the bomb, I turned to look at him and that's when I got shot."

Kate's guilt scale went from 5 out of ten to 100 out of ten. "He was telling the truth. He told the truth and I treated him like he was the criminal."

"What do you mean?" Meg asked.

"When I got to where they had taken you, you were on a stretcher being moved to an ambulance. I knew that Reid was down there with you and I don't know why, but my judgment got clouded somehow and I was blaming him. I blamed him and pushed him away. I acted like he was the one who shot you."

Meg stared at her aunt. "Kate, I know you want to stay here and make sure I'm okay, but just send Chris in here and go find Reid. He's the one you need to talk to right now. I'll take my punishment when you come back."

"I'm not gonna punish you," Kate said. Meg simply stared at her again. "Okay, but only because you asked for it."

Kate walked out of the room and found Morgan still in the waiting room. "Morgan, I need your help."

"What is it, Callahan?" Morgan asked.

"I have to find Reid and apologize. I have to tell him that it wasn't his fault and that I shouldn't have blamed him."

"Alright, whatever you say," Morgan replied. He and Callahan got the Bureau SUV and headed for Reid's apartment.

"Reid," Morgan said he banged on the door. "C'mon man, open up." No answer. "Open the door, Reid." Still no answer.

"Reid, it's Kate, open the door. I'm sorry about what happened. Please open the door." Kate tried the doorknob and found that it was unlocked.

Morgan noticed and stiffened up. "He never leaves the door unlocked." He turned to Kate. "Stay out here. I don't know what might be in there."

Kate nodded, knowing that if anything happened to Reid and she saw it, her stress might be too intense for her body and the baby to handle.

Morgan opened the door and walked inside. He searched around the apartment. He could see that Spencer was distressed by the state of his apartment. His books were on the floor, his chess board was on the floor and the pieces were spread out across the floor of the apartment. His TV was on with an episode of the original Star Trek playing. Morgan supposed that the best opinion he could get from someone at this point was Mr. Spock. Morgan guessed that even Spock's signature quote - "Live long and prosper" - wasn't going to help Spencer at this point.

Morgan walked into Spencer bedroom to find a horrific sight: Spencer was lying on the bed with his wrists cut, a razor laid next to his hand. Blood stained the sheets on the bed at his wrists.

"REID!" he shouted. Morgan immediately began to look for something to stop the bleeding. He found a mismatched pair of Spencer's socks lying on the floor and wrapped them around his wrists.

"What is it?" Kate shouted from outside the door.

"Call an ambulance, Reid tried to kill himself!" Morgan shouted back.

Kate stood in shock and horror for a moment before she opened her phone and called for an ambulance. As Morgan held the socks to Reid's wrists, he looked around and saw a box labeled "Trash". Morgan made a note to look at it later. Not even five minutes had passed when an ambulance had shown up and started to load Reid up on a stretcher.

"I'll ride with him, Morgan. You make sure everyone knows what happened."

Morgan nodded and called Garcia first.

"What is going on my chocolate goodness?"

"Baby girl, it's Reid."

Garcia's tone of voice changed. "What happened?"

"Garcia, I think he tried to kill himself. He cut his wrists."

Garcia gasped in horror. "The junior G-man tried to kill himself?" Garcia asked.

"I think so, baby girl."

"I'm getting Henry and I'll be right over there," Garcia said.

"Maybe bringing Henry is not a good idea," Morgan said.

"Henry got a letter from Reid today. It was himself singing a lullaby to Henry. I heard it and it sounded like it was more than a 'goodnight.' Henry needs to know that Reid's okay."

"Look we'll talk about this later. I need to call the others."

Garcia hung up and Morgan began to dial JJ's number.

"Hello?" JJ said over the phone.

"JJ, it's Morgan. We need you back here ASAP."

"What is it?"

"Reid tried to kill himself."

"WHAT?" JJ shouted.

"Kate wanted to apologize to Reid for what happened, but when we got there, I found him lying on his bed. He had cut his wrists JJ."

Morgan could hear JJ crying over the phone. "This is all my fault. I pushed him too far this time."

"JJ, it's not your fault."

"It is. I told him that he wouldn't be allowed to see Henry again. He just gave up. Just like Roz..."

"JJ, we need you back up here soon."

"All right, I'll be there as soon as I can," JJ said before she hung up. Will knew something was up when JJ started crying.

"What happened?" Will asked.

"Spence tried to commit suicide. I have to go back." JJ picked up here keys and headed for her car.

Will followed close behind. "JJ, give me the keys. I'll drive you there."

JJ nodded and moved to the passenger side while Will got in the driver's side and started the car. Once they were both in the car and buckled in, they headed to Quantico.

Morgan got to the hospital once he told Hotch and Rossi what had happened. He ran up to the desk and asked for Spencer Reid. Once he knew where to go he ran to get there. He arrived to find Garcia and Kate with a sleeping Henry.

"Anything?" Morgan asked.

"Not yet," Kate said. "They just got here a few minutes ago." Morgan could see the guilt on Kate's face.

"Let's get something straight," Morgan said. "It is not your fault, Kate."

Kate didn't respond.

A few minutes later, Hotch and Rossi showed up.

"Any word?" Hotch asked.

"Nothing yet, Hotch," Morgan said.

Hotch sat down dejectedly. "We should've seen this coming. We should've and we didn't."

"Aaron," Rossi said. "It's not your fault. Reid holds in everything. We couldn't have known."

"Yes, we could've," Hotch responded. "I should've made him see a grief counselor or something."

"Aaron, he wouldn't have gone anyway. You know Reid, he would've just shrugged it off and continued working."

Aaron sat silently.

Garcia was just wondering. "Hotch is right. We should've seen this coming. After Hankel, Maeve, and Gideon, we should've known that Spencer was on the verge."

"What was it that pushed him this time?" Morgan asked.

"It must have been JJ," Hotch said. "A week ago, JJ asked me to be Henry's godfather. I told her that Reid was his godfather and she told me that she didn't trust Reid with Henry anymore. She said that Reid wasn't allowed to see Henry again. That's gotta be what pushed him. Losing Henry."

Garcia gasped. "That's why he sent the CD!"

Kate, Rossi, and Hotch turned to look at Garcia.

"Reid sent an envelope to Henry with a CD in it." She started rummaging through her bag. "I have it here." She pulled out the CD and a portable DVD player. She put the CD in the disc drive.

They heard Reid's voice talk to Henry and then they heard the song.

Lay by my side, and we'll sail away.
Off to the shores of another day.
All set to go once I hear you say.
Goodnight my friend, until the morning.

Up we will float as we close our eyes.
Stars all around us like fireflies.
Just me and you drifting through the skies.
Goodnight my friend.

Not a thought.
Not a care.
Resting safe and sound.
With each other there.

And so we'll rock on a nighttime ride.
Cozy and warm on the rolling tide.
Till we arrive on the morning side.
Our journey's end.

Goodnight.
Sleep tight.
We're going to be alright.
Goodnight my friend.

"Goodnight, my friend," Spencer's voice said. "I love you, Henry."

Garcia looked at the rest of her teammates. There wasn't a dry eye among them. Even Morgan was crying a few tears.

After about an hour, the doctor came out.

"Spencer Reid?" he called. The team gathered around the doctor. "Are you all family?"

"Yes," Hotch replied. "Is Spencer alright?"

The doctor sighed. "Physically, he'll be fine. He didn't lose too much blood. However, he's fallen into, for lack of a better term, a coma. He hasn't woken up yet."

"That's normal isn't it?" Morgan asked.

"Typically yes, but something's unique about this. By all means, he should have woken up about twenty minutes ago. It seems like there's something preventing him from waking up. I also have to ask: are you aware that Spencer is suffering from burnout?"

They all stared at the doctor.

"What do you mean?" Garcia asked.

"According to his file, he met with a psychiatrist not too long ago and they had determined that he was suffering from burnout. It's a psychological state of mind in which the patient is suffering from long-term exhaustion or loss of interest in work. It's categorized in twelve phases including overworking, neglecting one's own needs, denial of emerging problems, withdrawal, obvious behavioral changes, inner emptiness, depression, and, in a worst case scenario, burnout syndrome. At that phase, the patient would contemplate suicide."

All of them stood in shock.

"No," Hotch said. "We had no idea."

"It's good for you all to know. We'll see what we can do and, hopefully, he'll wake up soon. You can see him if you wish, but he isn't awake."

The team's mood went down as the doctor left.

"We should try to go home and sleep," Morgan said. "I'm going to back to his apartment. There's something I need to look at. We'll check on him again tomorrow."

"I'm staying here," Garcia said. "I'm staying here until JJ comes and I'll keep Henry with me until then."

"All right," Hotch said. "We'll come by again in the morning."

A few hours later, JJ and Will showed up at the hospital. They found out where Reid was and they ran to his room. All they found was Garcia and a sleeping Henry.

"Penelope," JJ said.

"Jayje," Garcia replied. "Will?" she asked.

"I offered to drive her here," Will said.

"Do you know anything?" JJ said.

"He's alive, but he's in some kind of coma. JJ, he's been suffering from burnout. Depression and suicidal thoughts are part of that."

"It's all my fault. I pushed him too far this time."

"Jayje," Penelope said. She pulled the portable DVD player again. "You should listen to this."

She played the CD for her. Listening to the song, JJ started crying.

"I know this song. It's from that show Galavant. Spencer would watch it with us every weekend. It seemed to make him smile for at least a little while. This was one of the songs from the finale."

"Jayje, I think it was his way of saying goodbye to Henry."

JJ slumped to the floor next to a sleeping Henry. "I can't believe how badly I hurt him."

"JJ…" Will began.

"I won't be okay until he wakes up."

"I was going to say that you need to calm down. Too much stress isn't good for the baby."

JJ took in a few deep breaths. "I just want him to be okay. I care about him."

Garcia put her hand on JJ's shoulder. "He'll be okay."

JJ nodded. "Can I at least see him?"

"The doctor said we could."

JJ wiped away her tears. "I'm going to see him right now."

Morgan showed up at Reid's later that night to look at the box he had noticed. He pulled out a knife and cut the tape to open the box up and look inside.

Inside it, he found a purple scarf sitting at the top. He removed the scarf to see photos of Spencer playing with Henry and photos of Spencer with JJ. Morgan stared in shock. He kept moving photos and found what Reid had said was his prized possession: it was a framed photo of him with JJ in a football stadium with a ticket to that game framed with the picture.

Morgan never felt such a strong feeling of anger at JJ. She had pushed him too far. It was JJ who pushed him too far. Morgan felt rage, and then sorrow.

So, yeah. This has been what my mind has been concocting lately. I keep thinking of ways and reasons that Reid would kill himself. I don't know what to think about it, but I'm kind of scared about that thought.

Anyway, thanks for reading. I'll see you next time.
