Zoey
As I walked out from backstage into the corridor, lost in my thoughts, I heard my name being called from behind me. I turned to see one of the most beautiful vampyres I have ever seen, Lenobia. I smiled as I saw her blonde hair fly in the wind as she swept towards me. I was so mesmerized by her beauty I was startled by her sudden embrace of me. I laughed as her small but grounded stature grabbed me.
"How have you been? How are the horses? I have been meaning to go over to the stables and see you but I have been so busy! Hello Travis, have you kept her out of trouble?" I said as I leaned out from the embrace. I watched Lenobia's face brighten when she felt the presence of her human Consort, but then roll her eyes as she heard my last comment.
"More like I have been keeping him out of trouble. He's always up to something with either expanding the stables or taking out when of the younger horses for new tricks. I can't keep up with him!" Lenobia said as she looked up at Travis. He laughed and blushed a little when she got up on her tip-toes to kiss him on the cheek.
"I didn't know she knew about the plans to expand, or my midnight rides!" He said laughably, tipping his hat to me. "I guess I can't get away with anything around here. How was the tour of the House of Nights?"
"They were alright, long sometimes. It was hard for some of the older vampyres to accept the new council. But after showing what we were intending, and the Council helping them to be convinced, everything went smoothly. I feel that we really helped out with certain schools and their needs. I think when we actually listened and helped out with their needs they really opened up to the idea." I said, remembering some of the older vampyres.
I remember specifically one vampyre High-Priestess, Adela. She was one of the oldest vampyres in North America, almost ever. Even though her age is estimated to be over eight hundred years old, she is still youthful and beautiful in the face. She had an affinity to absorb the energies from the world and to give it out to others. This helped her understand when a new fledging is coming, and when they are going to reject the Change.
Adela was born in very early times, and has seen a lot over the years, but she still wanted some aspects to remain the same. I don't blame her, I thought to myself. She has seen so much, and lost so many, I would want something to stay the same. This understanding helped me come to her and talk to her about what my intentions were. After a while, she and I actually became friends.
"Zoey? Hello, are you there?" I heard muffled in the background of my thoughts, I snapped back to reality to see Lenobia staring at me.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I got lost in my thoughts. What were you saying?" I blushed a little and felt a slightly guilty because I stopped paying attention Lenobia when I haven't seen her in so long.
"I was just saying that you have been so successful with all of your work. Keep it up, whatever you are doing Zoey. And also, feel free to stop by the stables to relax. I do remember that you loved grooming my horses, and extra hands are always welcomed there. I have to get going, my students are probably waiting for me." Lenobia smiled at me and gave me another hug, while I smiled back at Travis when he tipped his cowboy hat at me again.
I turned back around and started to head towards my classroom. I started to walk faster after I looked at the clock on my phone and realized the time. I turned left and moved past the gas lamps of the hallways and eventually made it to my classroom. I walked in to see my students waiting for me, most of them were facing each other and talking. I could see the certain students that I would have to separate the classroom.
As I walked in the students turned to the front of the classroom and quieted down, I moved to my desk and started to search for my attendance list. I could feel their eyes on me, silently judging me. Although, I felt a different stare from at least one of the other students. It felt unwanted, rebellious, and dark. It seemed very powerful and seemed to be stronger the longer I searched for files on my desk.
I started to panic slightly, and I felt my heart race. I tried to suppress the feeling and slow my heart rate. I finally found the file and looked up, and my eyes immediately found an older male fledging sitting in the middle of the classroom.
He had dark, thick brown hair with sea green eyes with dark skin. He was smirking ever so slightly, and he was staring straight back at me. His hands were folder on his desk, and his built arms were barely covered with a tight, blue shirt. His eyes pierced me, and I felt the danger in them.
I saw the Darkness surrounding him.
