Stark
I felt Zoey's panic engulf my mind, I felt my heart suddenly race, and my stomach drop. Just as fast as the panic struck him, his protectiveness took over. He felt the urge to drop his sword and bolt from the room towards his Queen. Stark shifted his eyes towards his student assistant, Spencer Howard, and handed him the sword. "Teach them how to block. I need to go."
"Where are you going Professor?" Dylan looked shocked, staring at Stark while he abruptly departed. His eyes darted back to the students who were also staring at their new professor.
"Meeting" was all Stark could manage before the impulse to run through the door could take over. As he left the field house, Stark let the instinct of where Zoey was take over him, and he followed his gut. Stark could feel Zoey's internal conflict of trying to repress her panic and worry.
Stark knew that she didn't like him prying on her feelings, but she also understood that he could't help what just naturally happens. He also knew that she didn't like him running towards her whenever she felt this way. But this amount of panic was just too overwhelming to ignore, and he needed to get to her as soon as possible.
He walked quickly through the courtyard and through what seemed like a long labyrinth of hallways until he met felt Zoey near him. Stark didn't hesitate to burst open the door, he walked in and saw Zoey standing at the chalkboard, and twenty paris of eyes staring at him. When Zoey turned around and looked at him, she saw her eyes flicker from fear and panic to a spark of Light that he loved to look into.
Stark almost smiled when he saw Zoey was okay, but he saw the Light in her eyes burn out and dart towards her students. He felt the panic rise again, he immediately turned his head towards the students. He looked back at Zoey and looked at the students, waiting to see what she was seeing.
He sent a questioning look back at Zoey, but she was already turned towards the students addressing the class.
Zoey
I heard the door open, I didn't want to turn around and face the tendrils of Darkness that danced around her new student, it terrified me. I knew it was Stark though, I cursed myself for not keeping my emotions under check. He can't keep throwing himself through every door when I get a little panicked…
I turned to see my Warrior standing very sternly in the door, but I also saw the tendrils flicker when they noticed him too. I tried to send a message with my eyes to look towards the students, and I watched Stark's eyes follow mine and… nothing. He started to look back at me and I had realized that we were sitting in silence.
"Well class, I see we have a visitor today. This is one of our new instructors, Professor Stark, our new Children of Kalona trainer. You came just in time, we were starting our lesson on the history of Consorts."
Stark walked towards me and I instantly felt safer, I leaned more towards him and sighed a small sigh. I saw his eyes survey me and the room, trying to find the danger that was obviously there.
"As some of you may know, Stark is also my Consort, and my Warrior. He has fought few battles for me in our life together." I felt him get closer and smile his still youthful, cocky smile.
"A few battles? I battle you everyday." He said looking down on me.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "And you're in it for life. Remember you asked for it! Now, fledglings please read chapter two of Codes of Consorts while I step out for a second." I watched the students take the books out of their backpacks and sit quietly. I grabbed Stark's hand and almost dragged him out of the room, closing the door behind me.
"Did you see it? Did you see the Darkness surrounding the male fledgling in the middle of the classroom?" I had to monitor the volume in my voice, along with the panic. I watched Starks face get slightly confused and his eyes questioned me.
"No, I didn't see anything. Are you sure that it was Darkness?" I felt exasperated and so confused. How can he not see the Darkness almost completely engulf that fledgling? "I saw his name on the attendance sheet… Dylan James. Dylan James."
"I'm sorry Z, I didn't see anything. But, I'll make sure that I keep my eyes on him, and you." He grabbed my hand and pulled me in more and put his forehead against mine. "I promise you nothing will happen to you. No fledgling, vampyre, or invisible Darkness is going to hurt you. Do you want me to rearrange my class so that I can stay in this class with you while you teach?" He kissed my forehead and leaned back to look at me.
That did sound promising, and I actually already had that in mind, but I didn't want to sound any alarms. "I'll think about it." I saw Stark's eyes flicker with worry and sadness. "But can you stay with me for the rest of class?" Stark's eyes lit up again and he grabbed my hand again and lead me into this classroom where a potential enemy is waiting for me.
