I should probably mention that I do not own anything Snatch related in this chapter of A Phantom Marooned; congratulations if you spot the quote. If you do not, never mind. I hope you enjoy it nevertheless.
The moment Danny disappeared over the edge of the falls, the weather began to ease; the rain slowed to a slight drizzle and the tremors all but stopped. Moving cautiously forward, Hunter headed towards the edge and peered over. Squinting, he could just about make out the bottom of the waterfall; seeing nothing, Hunter was confident that Danny had met his demise.
"Heal from that kid." Hunter said, spitting over the edge. Turning, he headed back towards where Striker was standing, who had a firm hand on Megan's shoulder. The little girl herself was crying uncontrollably, her eyes transfixed on the spot where Danny had fallen.
"I reckon we can call that a day Striker, don't you think?" Hunter asked, his mood having been picked up considerably.
"Definitely." Confirmed Striker before looking down at the crying girl. "What are we going to do about this one?"
"Nothing, for now." Hunter said with an evil glint in his eyes. "For the time being, she'll be locked up with the rest of them. She'll convey what she witnessed here and that will scupper any and all escape plans they might have."
"You reckon that will work?" Striker asked doubtfully as they began to walk back to the complex, the rain stopping completely now.
"Of course it will." Hunter proclaimed, pushing Megan ahead of them. "I'm sure little Megs here will be very convincing. Especially if she's still crying like a baby." This caused Striker to laugh, until something occurred to him about Hunter's interest in the teen.
"Aren't you disappointed that he never joined us?" He asked.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't." Hunter admitted, as the prison complex came back into view. "Danny boy had such promise if he had embraced his potential, but we can't always have what we want. My old man taught me that."
"Didn't you hit your old man repeatedly in the face with a shovel for talking crap all the time?" Striker asked; Hunter just waved his hand at that.
"Details, details. Although, now that I think about it, there is something I want that can be done easily."
"What's that?" Striker asked nervously.
"I really fancy a cuppa." He said, causing Striker to chuckle. "We got any of that White tea left over from the last time we were in China?"
"I'm sure there's some laying around the place. Do you want any sugar?"
"No thank you Striker. I'm sweet enough." Both men roared with laughter whilst Megan had become silent as they entered the compound, tears still streaming down her face.
All she was beginning to feel now was numb; so much in fact that she didn't even realise they had arrived back inside the prison. The next thing Megan knew, she was being shunted back into the cell again. Before the group could ask her any questions, Hunter walked in.
"Alright folks," he began, clapping his hands. "There's going to be a bit of a change in the way things happen around here from now on. As of right now, there will be no more lunch outside. In fact, there will be no more leaving this room except for use of the toilet. You best get used to these walls; they're all you're going to be looking at for a while." With that, he walked out the door, slamming it shut behind him; the group could hear both men laughing maniacally as they walked away.
"Sadistic git." Valerie muttered, with everyone nodding in agreement.
"He really does just want us to suffer, doesn't he?" Ellie asked no one in particular.
"I am more curious as to what has possessed Hunter to become more punitive in our treatment." Mr Lancer said.
"That's a fair point." Agreed Frank. "I thought that Danny was off to speak to him about the whole generator thing?"
"He was." Sam confirmed. "Hey Danny, what happened when…" She trailed off when she realised that Danny wasn't in the room. Thinking back on it, she didn't actually remember him walk in the room with Megan. Turning to the little girl, she spoke.
"Hey Megan, where's Danny?" When Megan didn't respond, Sam asked again.
"Megan? Where's Danny? Is he with Hunter in his office?" When she failed to answer, Sam began to get worried.
What isn't she telling us? Sam thought.
"Hey kid," Dash started, walking over to the girl and shaking her shoulders. "Answer the question. Where's Fenton?"
"Lay off it Dash." Tucker said, pulling the jock back. "Can't you tell she's terrified?"
"He's gone." Megan said quietly.
"What's that sweetie?" Ellie asked.
"He's gone." Megan repeated. "Danny's gone."
"What do you mean 'gone'?" Star asked.
"He went over." She replied, tears threatening to spill again.
"To the Dark side?" Mikey asked, earning a slap from his sister. "Sorry."
"Where did he go?" Sam asked once more. This time, the tears began to flow freely down Megan's face.
"He went over the edge and into the water." Megan sobbed, silencing everyone in the room. "Striker shot him and he fell off." Her crying became too much for her to talk anymore; instead, she ran into Ellie who brought her into a tight hug. Slowly, tears began to flow down every person's face at what had happened to Danny; all teary eyes focused on Danny's closest friends, specifically Sam. Upon looking at her face though, the group became momentarily confused when she didn't look sad, but resigned instead; almost as if she expected it to happen.
It was some time later when Danny finally opened his eyes. Looking around, Danny saw that he had washed up in the small stream where the group used to collect their water when they had been staying on the beach. Groaning slightly, he pulled himself out of the water and slumped up against a nearby tree and attempted to get his breath back. His whole body felt battered and bruised after his trip over the waterfall, but his chest was by far the worst. Trying to sit up straight against the tree, Danny flinched and gasped in pain.
"Ahh crap," he said to himself. "There's definitely a few broken." Looking down at his shirt, it was the first time he noticed the bullet hole right over where his heart would be. Unbuttoning it, Danny saw the bullet lodged in the sheet of ecto-ice he had created moments before Striker had shot him at nearly point blank range.
Thank you Frostbite, Danny thought, grateful for the giant yeti ghost for teaching him to manage and utilise his ice powers. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Creating the ecto-ice was the only thing Danny could think to do at the time; he had had a suspicion that this might have been the opportunity Hunter was waiting for to get rid of him once and for all. He just hadn't expected to fall over the falls. As soon as Striker had aimed the gun at Danny, he knew he couldn't risk charging forwards on the off chance that Striker swung the gun around and shot Megan, but he had to do something which would protect him. He had just prayed to Clockwork that if Striker had shot the gun, his head would not have been on the receiving end. After absorbing the ecto-ice, the bullet fell to the ground; picking it up, Danny inspected it. The ice had completely stopped it in its tracks.
I guess I can add getting shot and falling down a waterfall to the list of painful things that have happened to me since the accident, Danny thought to himself as he pocketed the bullet. Jazz is going to be furious with me. Let alone what Sam will do to me when she finds out. Danny went to stand up, but gasped in pain as his entire chest flared up. This reinforced his suspicions about having multiple cracked and/or broken ribs. Danny untied the bandages which had been used for his burns and began to reapply them; trying to remember how Sam had done it the last he had broken his ribs in a ghost fight. They had begun to get slightly grimy after having been on for too long, combined with the liberal amount of creams Sam had used on him, but Danny was satisfied he had done the best he could; he knew it would only take about twelve hours for them to heal fully, perhaps rapider if he concentrated his ice powers on the affected area to prevent it from swelling. Gingerly getting to his feet, being extremely wary of his chest, Danny surveyed his surroundings. Turning on his Sense, Danny did a full rotation and was pleased to see that there were no dangerous animals near him. However, his pleased feeling was replaced with terror when he looked up in the sky and saw the energy-field. It wasn't only green anymore, but the entire dome had begun to pulsate ever so slightly. Turning his Sense off, Danny saw that whilst the dome was still green, he could no longer see it pulsing.
But for how much longer? Danny thought. His feeling of terror was shortly replaced by anger and a strong sense of determination.
"Alright Hunter." Danny said, gazing in the direction he knew the prison to be in, a plan beginning to form in his mind. "You kidnap my friends, you put us through hell and then you try and kill me. You've now got one seriously angry Halfa to deal with."
"Ok Manson. Time to talk." Demanded Dash. It was the morning after Megan had told them what had happened to Danny, and the entire group awoke to Sam, Valerie and Tucker talking hurriedly to each other at the table; it hadn't looked like any of them slept. The same could be said for the entire group, but their reasons were different; the group didn't sleep because of Danny's fate with tears constantly falling throughout the night, even from those who were only just starting to consider him a friend. However, it didn't look as if Danny's closest friends had shed a single tear. That didn't sit right with the people who were just beginning to think of themselves as being Danny's friends.
"Your boyfriend," Dash started again, then pointing at Tucker and Valerie. "And your two's best friend has just died and you act as if you don't even care." Most of the English Class was nodding along to what Dash was saying, but for some of them, and those who didn't know Danny, noticed the looks on Sam, Tucker and Valerie's faces and knew there was more than what they were letting on.
"Are you even listening to him?" Paulina demanded this time, striding up to the table with Dash. By this point, everyone else could see the look of pure willpower on Sam's face, fighting back the urge to hit the two A-Listers. The tension in the room was beginning to become palpable as the rest of the group didn't know what was going to happen.
"She really is a Goth." Dash finally said after a while of just staring at Sam, whose fists had begun to shake. "No feelings at all. She's just dead inside." This did it for Sam; within a blink of an eye, she jumped from the chair and performed the same move on Dash as what Danny had done to Frank on their first night in the prison. Whilst everyone just stared in a mixture of awe and fear, Paulina having actually jumped back several feet, Sam leaned in next to Dash's ear and spoke just loud enough for everyone to hear, twisting his pinned back arm in the process.
"You listen to me Dash," she whispered menacingly, causing many neck hairs to stand up on end. "There is nothing more important to me in this world than my friends, especially Danny. No offense Tuck."
"None taken." Tucker said, his face and tone matching Sam's level of anger at what Dash had said to her, which further put people on edge at the look of rage on the normally carefree looking teen. "Carry on." Turning back to Dash, she spoke again.
"You ever say anything contrary to that again, and I will make what Danny did in that cage look like child's play." Everyone in the room knew she wouldn't do anything of the sort, but the tone of her voice alone made it seem like she would definitely consider it.
"Would anyone else like to say something stupid? Because we're all ears." Valerie asked, who had to admit Sam had sounded quite terrifying. Everyone in the group, including Dash who was still being pinned down, shook their heads vigorously. "Wise decision. I think you can let him up now Sam." Giving Dash's pinned arm one more small twist, Sam released him and allowed him to stand up, massaging his arm in the process.
"While I do not condone what Dash said to you Sam, I cannot help but agree with his motives." Mr Lancer said after he got over the initial shock of what he had just witnessed. "As you just said yourself, nothing is more important to you than your friends, which is to be commended. So why is it that you do not appear to be even remotely distressed in the slightest at Danny's, um…" Sam couldn't help but chuckle at Mr Lancer's trailing off.
"Death?" Sam finished helpfully. "I would be more than just upset Mr Lancer, if he was actually dead."
"Sam," Ellie started, thinking the young teen was in denial about what happened. "Danny's dead. He got shot and went over the waterfall. No one could have survived that; it's impossible."
"No, what's impossible is that none of you, after everything that's happened here, have any faith in Danny." Sam said, starting to get angry again. "Do you really see something as trivial as a bullet or a waterfall stopping him?" At this, everyone's jaw hit the floor.
Trivial? They all thought.
"I think what Sam is trying to say, is that Danny knew along what could happen to him if he went out there with Hunter last night, so naturally he would have taken precautions." Tucker explained.
"What do you mean?" Bradley asked, not quite believing what he was hearing.
"That's what he whispered into my ear right before Hunter took them away." Sam said, her anger starting to subside.
"And he still went out there?" Asked a shocked James.
"Does he actually have a death wish?" Chelsea asked.
"Depends what you mean by 'death'." Tucker whispered to himself.
"What was that?" Mikey asked, who heard only a mumble.
"Nothing," Tucker said hurriedly. "Basically, when it comes to Danny, he would risk anything to help people he cares about. But he's not stupid; he rarely gambles carelessly with his life."
"Basically," began Valerie, still attempting to keep the peace between the group and Sam. "Don't write Danny off just yet. That boy has more tricks up his sleeve than a master magician."
It was several hours after lunch when Danny deemed himself healed; stretching against the tree he had sat up against all night, Danny could expand his chest without searing pain. It was no more than a slight ache now. He hadn't really been bothered during the night whilst he waited for his ribs to heal; he Sensed another large jungle cat get a bit too curious for his liking, but he soon sorted it out with a very large snowball. Looking down at his chest, he thought it was about time he got rid of the useless bandages; after discarding them, Danny recoiled slightly as he took in the multitude of fresh scars he had acquired over the previous three weeks.
"That's going to take some explaining when I get home." Danny said aloud, wondering how he was going to explain them to his parents, let alone what any doctor is going to say as they are bound to want to have a look at them all once they were rescued.
First things first, Danny thought. I need to get back to the prison and get everyone out. Then I can worry about parents and doctors. It took him nearly an hour to get to the prison; Danny had to take the long way round so that he wouldn't be spotted by Sniper in his watch tower. The teen knew for him to be able to access the prison undetected, he had to take of Sniper first. Coming up to the prison, Danny hid behind a tree, edging around only slightly so that he could Sense Sniper's rough location. From what he could see, Sniper would change position roughly every sixty seconds; that was Danny's window to sprint to the tower. As soon as Sniper changed position, Danny ran out from behind the tree and raced for the watch tower. His only obstacle was some slight debris, which hadn't been there when they were first escorted to the prison.
One of the recent tremors must have done that, Danny thought to himself as he sailed over it. He made it to the tower in just over forty seconds; standing silently, he waited for Sniper to change his position. But after twenty seconds, instead of changing position, his radio went off.
"You there Sniper?" Came the sound of Invader's voice.
"Go for Sniper. What do you want Invader?" Sniper responded.
"Listen up, Hunter's on the warpath." Invader said; even from the distance he was, Danny could tell he was nervous.
"What's going on?"
"Hunter's losing it a little bit after what happened with that kid. When they got back last night, he was the happiest he's ever been. But something changed this morning. He's been shouting and threatening everyone. He stormed right into the cell about ten minutes ago and took one of the kids back to his office and locked them in."
"What's that got to do with me?"
"He's on the rampage, making everyone double and triple their patrols. He wants to make sure absolutely nothing can possibly go wrong. So, just keep an extra eye out tonight, otherwise they'll be hell to pay."
"Will do. Thanks for the heads up." Putting his radio down, shivering at the slight chill in the air, Sniper was convinced he had seen and heard it all. That was, however, until he turned around and saw Danny stood before him; a menacing look in his eyes. Getting over the chill which ran down his spine at Danny's gaze, Sniper brought his gun up and aimed it at the teen's head. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he noticed something which made his heart stop; the entire end of the gun and been encased in a block of ice.
"I didn't want the conversation to end too quickly." Danny said nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders. "It's nice to finally meet you Sniper. I believe I've only ever seen your bullets." Launching the gun at the teen, Sniper quickly put his hand to his hip to unsheathe his own machete, only to find that too had been frozen in place. Slowly looking back at Danny, he watched in awe and horror as the ice began to melt away from the barrel of the gun in front of his eyes; now Danny was the one aiming the gun at him.
"What is it with you lot and large knives?" Danny asked, his voice becoming more dangerous with every word. Then, faster than Sniper could have ever anticipated, Danny struck out with his fist, knocking him off his feet and causing him to black out. When he came to a few minutes later, Danny was standing over him; attempting to move, he discovered that his hands and feet had been bound with the same ice which was used to freeze his gun.
"What the hell-." Started Sniper, before Danny back handed him.
"You don't get to speak until I tell you to, got it?" Danny asked. Reluctantly, Sniper nodded his head, inwardly quite scared of the threatening looking teen standing above him.
"Where are the chemical labs and the generator room?" Danny asked, causing Sniper to chuckle.
"Do you really think I'm going to tell you that, you little punk? Just wait until I get out of this, this, whatever the hell this stuff is." Sniper replied, before spitting at Danny's feet; Danny laughed humourlessly.
"I thought you might say that, so I have a bit of a backup plan." Danny said, bending down to Sniper's level. He snapped the gun in half over his knee and tossed it over the edge of the watch tower before turning back to look Sniper in the eye. "I know you're a big, strong man who probably doesn't scare easily. So me threatening you with that gun wouldn't have intimidated you that much, would it? But this, on the other hand, might just do the job." Danny's eyes suddenly turned a different shade of blue, but that wasn't what Sniper was focused on. What Sniper was looking at was the dagger made of ice coming out of Danny's hand, being created from nothing. It continued to grow until it was about the same size as a dirk. Then, bringing it up to his face, Danny's eyes began to glow green; the knife began to reflect the colour, further terrifying Sniper.
"So let me ask again. Where are the chemical labs and the generator room?" This time, Sniper couldn't keep his mouth shut.
"Down the corridor from the viral testing labs, turn right, go to the end of the corridor and make another right. You'll come to a set of blast doors, and that's the chemical labs." Sniper said quickly, his eyes never leaving the illuminated icy weapon. "To get to the generator room, go down the corridor which takes you to the outside area where your group ate lunch, but turn left just before you get to that door. That will lead you down a hallway with a T-Junction at the end; make a left here and there will be a door with a sign saying 'MAINTENANCE'. That's the room with the generator."
"Thanks Sniper, you're the best." Danny said, reabsorbing his ecto-ice, his eyes turning back to their original blue. "Now, I have nothing personal against you Sniper. You've only been acting as a lookout since we've been here. So I am going to take it easy on you, but only slightly." Once again, Danny drew back his fist and punched Sniper with some added ghostly strength, rendering him fully unconscious.
Now that he's taken care of, I can get to work, Danny thought to himself, before turning towards the prison. And then you're next Hunter.
Ever since Hunter had barged in and taken Megan, the group hadn't stopped shouting and banging on the doors, only to be met with silence. After nearly an hour of doing this, everyone but Frank had stopped, exhausted.
"Frank, give it a rest." James said. "They're never going to answer us." He banged one more time before admitting defeat and stormed off to the table, placing his head in his arms.
"You know what he's doing right?" Kwan suddenly said.
"What?" Star asked.
"This is just like in the horror films."
"Yeah, he's right." Tucker said. "This is where the groups get split up and taken care of, one by one." This earned him a slap from Valerie.
"Sorry." He said, rubbing his cheek.
"Stop Val." Sam said. "Tuck's got a point. Hunter is seriously losing it and there's no telling what he'll do next. I don't know how much longer we're safe in here before he does something to us. Or gets one of the others to do something."
"What do you propose we do then?" Paulina asked, her usual A-Lister attitude returning.
"I don't know!" Shouted Sam. "Alright? But I am open to suggestions." Everyone bit their tongue at Sam's outburst, partly due to the fact that Sam scares them slightly when she gets mad, but also because they couldn't actually think of anything. There was a moment of tense silence amongst the group, before there was a bang on the door. The entire group screamed, right up until the door opened and Megan rushed in.
"MEGAN!" They all exclaimed, rushing to the little girl.
"What happened?" Frank asked, bringing her into a hug. When he finally let go, the group saw that she was smiling widely, and pointed to the door. Looking to the doorway, everyone's jaw dropped when they saw Danny walk in. Within a second, Sam had ran across the room and jumped into Danny's arms, whilst Tucker whistled.
"Told you he wouldn't let some bullet or waterfall get the best of him." Tucker said as he moved forwards to high five his best friend.
"How on earth did you survive Danny?" Nathan asked, astonished at the fact that Danny was actually in front of them.
"You are real, right?" Michelle asked, poking Danny's arm gently.
"Very much so." Danny said, his voice still serious, worrying the group. "Look, we can trade stories later but we haven't got much time. There's no telling when Hunter will put a guard back on this door, so we have to act quickly. Now listen up, when you hear an explosion, run for your life out of this place and head straight for the beach."
"Wait, what?" Mr Lancer asked, convinced that he had misheard what Danny just said. "Did you say, an explosion?"
"Yes I did sir." Danny confirmed. "Though I have no idea how big it's going to be. But when you hear it, run for your life. Just follow the arrows and don't look back. I'll meet you at the beach." Without another word, he kissed Sam and ran out of the door, picking up an old rucksack as he went. Following Sniper's instructions, Danny finally made it to the generator room door; using his Sense to make sure no one had followed him or was near him, Danny opened the door and slipped inside, quickly icing the handle and hinges to make it more difficult to break down. His first impression of the generator was that of disappointment; he had expected something more elaborate and complex, but instead it wouldn't have looked out of place at a school or a hospital. To Danny, it looked like an ordinary diesel generator, until he looked closer and noticed a very faint green glow coming from the back of it. Opening up the rucksack, Danny took out all the chemicals he had taken from the labs and did the best he could to construct a makeshift bomb, which could be ignited with the lighter he found in Hunter's office as he released Megan. However, before he ignited it, Danny made a makeshift barrier in which he could hide behind once he set it off using various bits of furniture scattered around the room. Satisfied with his handiwork, Danny poised himself to light the fuse when he faltered. It finally dawned on him that there was the possibility that even if he did destroy the energy-field, he wouldn't get his powers back. He could very well be stuck with only half his powers for the rest of his life. After a few moments, he realised that escaping Hunter's clutches and finally leaving this island by destroying the generator far outweighed the cons; taking a deep breath, he lit the fuse and then dived over the top of his shield, just in time to be protected from the ensuing explosion. The split second it detonated, exquisite pain coursed through every fibre of Danny's body; it wasn't as painful as his initial accident which gave him his ghost powers, but it was enough to make him scream out in pain. However, the pain was swiftly replaced by adrenaline and Danny felt more powerful than he had done in a long time; the dull ache as a result of his broken ribs healed instantly. Floating to his feet, relishing the feeling of flight again, Danny flew over the battered shield and surveyed the room. It was filled with smoke, which would hinder most people's eyesight, but not Danny's. He could see perfectly and saw the smoking remains of the generator, as well as a large section of the wall behind it which had been taken out too by the explosion. Then, standing in the middle of the room, facing the hole, Danny waited for the next step of his plan to take effect.
The explosion rocked the entire prison, causing everyone in the vicinity to be either thrown to the floor, into walls or into the person next to them. Next, all the lights went out, throwing the prison into perpetual darkness. It was a few minutes until the emergency lighting came into effect, bathing the entire complex in a soft, green glow. Hunter, with Striker hot on his heels, kicked down the door to his office to find it completely trashed from the explosion. Megan was nowhere to be seen. Just as Hunter was about to shout out in rage, a voice came over his radio.
"Boss?" Asked Brawler's voice.
"What do you want?" Hunter asked menacingly, almost shouting down the radio.
"We heard the explosion and thought it came from the chemical labs. Getting there we saw that all the draws had been rifled through; looking through the inventory, we saw that several chemicals are missing." Hunter shouted a string of obscenities into the receiver, causing Striker to flinch slightly from fear.
"Get your arse down to the cages and make sure nothing's escaped. Then check on the special cage and guard it with your life. You are not to leave under any circumstances. If anyone but me tries to gain access to it, shoot them. No hesitation or you will have me to answer to." Not waiting for a response, he changed the frequency.
"Raider!" He shouted into the radio.
"Yes boss?" Came Raider's nervous response.
"You and your brother are going to stand guard outside the cell until further notice. If anyone but me tries to enter or leave, shoot them. Do I make myself clear?"
"Well, yeah. But what was that explosion?"
"I said, do I make myself clear?!" Hunter demanded, the danger in his tone clearly evident to everyone within earshot.
"Crystal clear sir." Raider whimpered. Once again, Hunter changed the frequency on his radio.
"Invader?!"
"Yes sir?" His voice just as nervous as the rest of his cohorts.
"Patrol the area. If you see anything that moves that isn't one of us, I want you to pump it full of lead. Am I understood?"
"Yes sir." Was Invader's only response before clicking off his radio. After a moment of silence, allowing Hunter to seethe in anger, Striker finally plucked up the courage to talk to him.
"What are you thinking Hunter?" He asked. "What was all that about?"
"There's only one explanation for all this," Hunter said, as he started to pace around his office, a moment of realisation hitting him. "Look out my window at the sky and tell me what you see. I have a sneaking suspicion I know exactly what you'll see." Confused by his boss' demand, Striker walked over to the window and did as he was asked. What he saw caused his jaw to drop.
"Let me guess. The sky is no longer green?" Striker turned and nodded, dumbfounded by what he saw.
"What does this mean?" He asked.
"It means somehow, and I don't know how, Danny boy is alive. And he's about to be in a world of untold pain and suffering when I get my hands, knife and gun on him. In that order. Repeatedly."
"Where the hell is he?" Striker asked when they got back to Hunter's office, sweat pouring off the two men. Hunter and Striker had spent about twenty minutes sprinting around the complex's main corridors looking for Danny, but to no avail.
"He must still be in the generator room." Hunter said, his anger steadily increasing, racing out of his office once again.
"But that explosion was huge Hunter; it rocked the building nearly as bad as the quakes did." Striker said, running to catch up. "He would have blown himself up as well as the generator, wouldn't he?" This caused Hunter to stop and turn to Striker, hate-filled eyes boring into the man's skull.
"That kid, Striker, has been shot, electrocuted, burned and clawed. Not to mention the fact that he has also been battered by a rabid elephant and then a waterfall; all in the space of about two and a half days. He has also managed to sneak into this building, into my office completely undetected and rescued that little brat from right under my nose. He then managed to gain access to the chemical labs and blow up our only source of protection on this island, not mention making this whole damn place shake like a leaf." Hunter said, glaring at Striker, causing him to cower slightly. "I am never, ever, going to underestimate this kid again. And I will not be satisfied until I have personally put about fifty bullets in his damn head." Before he could rage more, Tracer's voice came over the radio.
"Umm, boss?" He asked nervously. "We have a bit of a situation over here."
"You best have a damn good reason for not concentrating on your task Tracer." Hunter responded harshly.
"It's the cell." Tracer said, "They're all gone."
"Dammit!" Roared Hunter, launching his radio at the wall, obliterating it completely. Striker had always been slightly scared of Hunter for as long as they had known each other. But now, Striker genuinely feared for his life as Hunter's eyes were filled with nothing but pure rage.
"Let's go hunting." Was all Hunter said, before turning and heading for the generator room, Striker following him uneasily. Coming to the door, Hunter and Striker weren't surprised when they found it locked. Trying to unlock it with his master key, Hunter found that it still wouldn't open.
"Crafty teen has barricaded the door." Hunter said, looking at Striker. "We're going to have to ram it. On my count. One. Two. Three!" Both men charged forward and attempted to break down the door. However, they only succeeded in shaking it a little bit.
"Again!" Commanded Hunter. "One. Two. Three!" Their second attempt was almost as futile as their first; the two men finally managed to break down the door and barge into the room on their fifth try. Upon entering, they were met with the smell of burning and a wall of smoke which drastically limited their vision. Leaving the door open to allow the smoke to dissipate, Hunter and Striker could just about register Danny standing in the middle of the room with his back to them, the remains of their generator strewn about the place. It was then that they noticed that the entire wall the generator had been placed against had been blown out as a result of the explosion; the two men could just about make out a corridor of cells through the hole. Hunter wasn't in the least bit surprised when they found Danny completely unharmed. If anything, Danny's lack of injuries just infuriated him more at the fact that his prison had taken more damage than the teen had.
"I'm going to take great pleasure in killing you kid." Hunter said, his voice steadily becoming more manic. "But not straight away. First, I'm going to torture you within an inch of your life. Then I'm going to torture your friends, starting with your little girlfriend whilst Striker here does the same to little Megan, and make you watch the whole thing. I'll cut your eyelids off if I have to. Then, I'm going to make you watch as we gut each and every one of your friends and set every single animal we have in this place on them whilst they're still alive, making sure you can hear all their screams. By the end of it, you're going to wish you were dead and beg me to end your suffering, which I will be more than happy to oblige after the amount of headaches you've caused me since coming here." Expecting Danny to pale and whimper at his threat, both Hunter and Striker faltered when Danny began to chuckle darkly as he slowly turned around to face the two men.
