Chapter 6- Welcome To The Family

Kratos was unsure how to respond to Athena's request. As a General in the Spartan Army, he had never had to train anyone before. Even when he had served the gods, and later the Titans, he had always worked alone. However, the payment for such a task was more than enough to make him consider it.

"Before I agree to anything, Athena," Kratos began, "I have a request."

Unsure of what he could want, Athena answered, "What is it, Spartan?"

"Give me one hour alone with the God of War." Kratos answered his eyes filled with malice and rage. It was obvious that although Kratos had murdered the god who was responsible for his families death in his world, he held the same anger to anything that was similar to the god who had wronged him.

Caught off guard by such a request, it took Athena a moment to answer, and when she did she sounded rightfully nervous.

"That is not a request I can fulfill, Kratos."

"Why not?!" Kratos questioned angrily.

"Because, I know what you intend to do to him, Kratos, and now is not the time. Perhaps when the war is over, but right now my brother is needed. Typhon rises in the west and we need his strength to combat him, just as we need you to train the children of the Big Three."

Kratos simmered underneath the truth of Athena's words. He knew she was right, but the rage he felt for anything that reminded him of the god of war was unrelenting. However, he refused to allow his rage to rule him, when he was so close to what he spent ten years of his life wanting and waiting for. Finally giving in, Kratos relented, "Fine. I will swear your oath, Athena. Only if you remove my memories immediately after."

Sighing in relief, the Wisdom Goddess replied, "Of course, Spartan. Come. Let us visit my stepmother."

Once Athena managed to convince Hera to stand in the same room as the Fallen God, she motioned for him to recite his oath to the River Styx as she had worded it.

"I swear by the River Styx to serve the Gods of Olympus during this war, and will not turn on them during or after, in return for the goddess Hera taking away the memories of my families death."

Thunder rumbled outside, binding Kratos to his oath.

Turning to Hera, the wisdom goddess nodded. Hera, still looking a little unsure, stepped forward and placed her hand on the side of the Ghost of Sparta's head, and closed her eyes. Concentrating hard she searched deep within the warrior's mind to find the memories she needed. It took her a moment, however, she managed to locate them. Shivering from the cold hatred that single memory created, she worked quickly to remove it from his mind.

It was not an easy task, but eventually she managed to rip it from his mind. Sighing from exhaustion, Hera dropped her hand and stepped back from the Former God.

It was finally done.

The Spartan warrior, Kratos, took one last stock of his weapons. He could hardly believe the power Hope had. It ensured not only that he still had the weapons he lost during his fight with Zeus, but also that he had some weapons that he had not had in years. He looked over his equipment, mentally checking them all off. The Blade Of Olympus, Icarus' Wings, the Claws Of Hades, the Nemean Cestus, the Nemesis Whip, the Head Of Helios, the Boots Of Hermes, and the Blades Of Exile. Check. But that wasn't all he had come to this world with. He also brought the Blade Of Artemis, the Arms Of Sparta, the Eye Of Atlantis, the Barbarian Hammer, the Spear Of Destiny, Typhon's Bane, the Golden Fleece, the Head Of Euryale, and the Amulet of the Fates. Many of which he had not seen since his earlier adventures.

Although he would never admit it, Kratos felt comforted with having so many powerful weapons at his disposal. Not that he needed comfort. He was plenty strong enough without so many weapons. However, it was nice not to be empty handed when surrounded by so many potential enemies.

On Athena's orders, (Not Zeus' orders. He refused to take orders from the King of Olympus), Kratos made his way down to the lobby. Despite himself, Kratos was actually a little excited to meet other Demigods. Especially his sister, Thalia.

Entering the lobby full of mortals, Kratos noticed many people starring at him as he walked by. Glancing down at himself, Kratos recognized immediately what they were starring at, thanks to the gift Athena gave him to help him get accustomed to this world. Except for his loincloth, he was naked. While this was acceptable in his time, the people of today looked down on such states of un-dress.

Walking out the revolving door and stepping out onto the street, The Ghost of Sparta ran to catch up with Athena in central Park. She had said she would meet him there, after she contacted the camp of demigods to tell them they were coming. Coming to a clearing in the park, Kratos' gaze fell upon the goddess of wisdom.

"Is everything taken care of, Athena?" He asked.

"Yes," the goddess replied. "However, it appears we will have to wait for the children of the big three to show. They are all of doing their respective duties. Except, of course, for the Sea Spawn. He is with my daughter."

Kratos had not heard such bitterness in her voice before. However, it was apparent she held no love for the son of Poseidon. While this intrigued Kratos, he decided it was best to leave well enough alone. After all, the wisdom goddess could be very vengeful when she wanted to.

"So, are we going to wait here then?" he asked.

Athena shook her head. "No. We can wait in the Big house, on them, with Chiron. I'm sure he wouldn't mind our company."

Turning to me she continued. "Before, we leave their is a favor I would ask of you."

looking Kratos' dead in the eye, she continued. "Will you protect my children in the coming war? As much as I hate to admit it, my children have always been more of the type to direct a battle, rather than fight one. Not to say that they can't, after all I'm also the goddess of battle. However, I... I worry about them."

"Children?" Kratos asked. "I thought you was a maiden goddess!"

"They were born how I was. Believe me Spartan, I have not forsaken my vow."

Wisely dropping the subject, Kratos asked, "I have a favor to ask of you, Athena, in return for protecting your children. I have noticed my clothing is very different for this world. Perhaps you could give me a change of outfit. One that would make me a little inconspicuous."

Surprised by such a request, Athena was silent for a moment, before responding. "I did not think you were the type to care about such things, Kratos."

Snorting, Kratos replied, "I don't. However, It would be for the best, if I at least dressed like I belong in this time."

Relenting to the logic of the Spartan Warrior, Athena materialized him a change of clothes for him. He now wore, instead of his traditional loincloth, a blood red T-shirt, with black jeans and combat boots.

Giving the Ghost of Sparta a quick once-over, Athena decided it was an odd look for Kratos. A good look, but odd.

"Come, Spartan," Athena called turning from him. "It is time for us to go. Grab my shoulder, and I will teleport us there. It is time for you to meet the demigods of Camp Half-Blood."
