In the Stars
Mamoru
A/N: Conventions are really cool and really nice places to find inspiration. I met so many nice people this month! Sailor Moon Day at Anime Expo was probably my favorite! I dressed as the most casual Michiru on the planet but I still had a blast! :O So sorry for this wait, I hope you guys enjoy regardless!

"But we only have twenty more minutes," she whimpers. She tries to keep her voice cheerful. But I know better. Only being able to see each other in short bursts is certainly taking its toll on her. The one thing I want is for my Serenity to be happy-however, trying to cram so many things into each visit is dragging her down. She looks so tired.
Kissing her forehead, I pull her hand into my own. "All the more reason to sit and relax, Serenity." I smile. "We can visit the market next time, Alright?"
"What abou-"
"Nope."
Shaking, my head I pull her back in the direction of the rose gardens. Tonight, I think to myself, we simply enjoy each other's company. Nothing more, nothing less. Surprisingly she doesn't protest and instead follows close behind.
When we reach our destination I release her from my grasp. I sit down in the first clearing I can find and motion for her to join me. She only hesitates for a moment before plopping down beside me and resting her head against my shoulder. "Next time we can do the market, right?"
I don't see her present fascination with insisting we visit a market. But the way she's been asking me about it since we started making our visits a regular occurrence, I could hardly deny her the opportunity happily explore the merchants' booths. "Of cour-"
When I look down, instead of facing the eyes of someone eager to explore, I find myself in the face of a sleeping girl. I smile. So she finally let herself relax. My arm wraps around her waist and pulls her closer to me. Fifteen minutes, I remind myself-daring to close my own eyes if even for the briefest moment.
Because tonight is perfect. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
I wake from my dream. For the first time in a while-I'm left satisfied with its ending. No nightmares or impending wars this time. Only the sweetness of the Princess in love with her Prince. And speaking of Princesses...
I push myself up from my couch and make my way to the kitchen. Perhaps I should make coffee for the both of us? No. Usagi doesn't seem like the coffee sort of person. But before I can contemplate the contents of my cupboard, a yawn from the other room breaks me from my thoughts.
It's time.
Last night I watched a girl transform from a conflicted teenager into a determined warrior and dive straight into battle. In mere moments her light outshone the red and purple lights that had been dominating the skies only moments prior. It was enviable, really. She had all that courage in such a delicate person. And somewhere underneath everything, under her identity as a middle school student, under her identity as the leader of the senshi, she was a princess. I was sure of it.
She's the princess the world has been waiting for. The one I have been waiting for.
And if she had the strength to fight the very things that frighten her, I could tell her the truth. Not about the princess stuff. That would wait until later, until I knew she could trust me. But the rest of it. That Mamoru Chiba was in fact Tuxedo Mask.
Walking into my room, I lean against the door frame carefully. She's staring out the window clutching her hands to her chest. I clear my throat. "I see you're awake."
When she turns around I see the mix of emotions that cross her face. Confusion melts into awe turns into recognition. Her eyes meet mine. "You're Tuxedo Mask."
I smile.
