L walked into the meeting room in his usual manner, slouched over with his hands in his pockets, and stopped. The room was embellished with a few lonely balloons and streamers, and a banner reading "Happy Birthday". The members of the Kira Task Force were standing in the room.
"What's going on here?"
"Oh, Ryuzaki! Well, we found out today was your birthday, so..."
"Why would you do such a silly thing?" L said, walking out of the room, some of the others following him.
"What do you mean?" asked Matsuda.
"Time is relative. This moment, while significant years ago, no longer has any real importance. There is..." L trailed off on a long explanation, losing the others rather quickly.
"Aw, come on Ryuzaki. The investigation hasn't been going the greatest, so we gotta have a chance to raise the mood!"
"No thank you."
"Please give it a chance. We got a cake?..."
"Very well then."
