Anyway yes I am aware that I haven't updated in this story or made other stories for a while but like i said school life is so demanding for attention but here is an update with a new chapter that's long for you patient readers. SO HERE'S CHAPTER NINE ENJOY ;)
"DAD?! TOOTHLESS!? ANYONE?!" Hiccup was running through a very thick fog of smoke that covered everything that he couldn't tell where in the world he was but he had a sick feeling at the pit of his stomach that something was off. The smoke was a smell of burnt wood after a recent fire as the distant sound of roars and cries of pain echoed through the area, making him feel more afraid. "DAD!? TOOTHLESS!? WHERE ARE YOU!?"
He suddenly heard someone call his name out in a weak low voice, so believing that might be his father or friend wounded out there as that same tone and voice repeated his name over and over, never getting any louder that before. "DAD! TOOTHLESS!? IS THAT YOU!?"
Hiccup found his way through the smoke, realizing that it was clearing up but the moment it cleared, he wished the fog came back to block what he is seeing that very moment. He stopped at his trail, his eyes looking at the horrifying sight of Berk, his home all burnt to the ground while the fire continued to devour every last splinter of the village with no sign of anyone surviving! The spot where the forge stood was nothing but a giant pile of molten iron and metal from the forged weapons while the skies was filled with gray clouds that was about to release its tears.
He then heard the same voice call out for his name again, and it came from the direction of his house; so with new hope of someone surviving, he ran as fast as he could, holding in his grief as he passed by more house that were burnt or still on. The Great Hall didn't look so great with a dark dry red substance splattered on the broken doors but the moment the hill of his house was at sight, he stopped once more. His hands to his legs (or leg) were shaking while his eyes grew wider than the moon, for what he say was not one, but all the dead bodies of his friends, their dragons, and just a few feet away from them was Toothless, with burn marks decorating his body along with slashes that came from a sword which were bleeding out.
"TOOTHLESS!"
Hiccup defied the stillness his body wanted to stay rushing up the hill as he finally got to his soul brother's body, kneeling down to see if he was still alive, despite how severe those wounds seem. "Toothless, please answer me buddy; what happened to you? What happened to dad? Who did all this to you and the village Berk? Oh buddy I'm sorry for not being here sooner, but don't worry you'll be okay...You'll be okay."
Toothless suddenly opened his eyes, which were filled with pain and anger as he harshly asked with a hoarse voice, "Why should I...Listen to the likes of you? You.. You traitor.."
"W-What are you talking about?" Hiccup was taken aback by the harshness in his dragon's tone and the word 'traitor'. "Toothless we're friends, brothers, and family; why would I ever betray you guys?"
"Stop acting stupid you worthless runt!" Toothless growled with fury,"You're the murderous traitor who did all this! The moment Stoick told us that he was turning back into a dragon to be with Valka, you just snapped... and joined Drago's side! You came here... with Drago and your army...You made them burn ...all the homes, you killed every person ...and dragon alive!" He was ignoring the petrified look of disbelief that was plaster on Hiccup's face as the nightfury continued after coughing out some of his own blood. "You just grabbed a sword and killed Stoick, Valka...You only gave me open wounds... so I can die slowly! So don't ask me why you did this...Ask... yourself...We'll never...Forgive you.." Before Hiccup could say anything in his defense, Toothless's head fell heavily to the ground, his soul no longer inside him as the rain finally began to pour from the still clouds.
"I didn't...How could I...There's no way I would..." He whispered to himself with fragments of unfinished sentences until he finally snapped from this shock and just screamed his heart out to the crying sky. He just kept screaming his lungs out in the rain, not really caring if someone heard him at this point until he finally stopped and just stared down at his friend's dead body with his eyes full of tears.
That was when he felt a large hand landed on the left side of his shoulder, catching him off guard so he decided to turn his head around to see who this person was but this stranger was in the form of a haunting dark shadow so he couldn't tell who it was...But he did see Eret emerge from behind the stranger, with a smug on his face as he chuckled, " Well, well, well Hiccup; that was some village raiding skill you did, especially with the slaughtering...Don't you agree Drago?"
"Helping me conquer Berk was the greatest decision you ever made boy," The shadow known as Drago added, his voice was sending chills down his spine. "None of this would be possible without your ability to make dragons follow your command and do all this...You have proven yourself worthy of ruling the world with me, as my son.."
"NO!"
Hiccup sat up from where he slept, his hand clenching a tight hold to his chest, trying to catch a breath as he looked around his surroundings to see if he woken anyone up, thankfully he didn't. It was just a dream, just a dream... Once he finally caught his breath, he got up quietly and carefully as he made his way to the sid of the boat to think some more, again.
Eret's warning from earlier was still echoing though Hiccup's mind when he and Toothless finally caught up to everyone else who was already in Heather's boat all ready to go. Even throughout the whole time sailing in the sea, Hiccup's thoughts were focused on why someone wanted him to join their side. I know I can understand dragons but what good will that do for some trappers? He asked himself as he stood near the edge of the boat, his eyes staring at the blue sea that evening while everyone was fast asleep with their dragons. Trick dragons into their traps yes, train them maybe but I won't let that happen... He looked to the side where his friends were curled up peacefully next to their dragons, his father beside Thornado, keeping a respectful distance away from Valka, who allowed Heather to sleep beside her. Dragons are gentle, amazing creatures...No not creatures, they're just as human as all of us. They are family, and no one betrays family.
He suddenly felt a gentle nudge on his arm which of course came from Toothless, who asked with concern, "Are those things Eret told you still on your mind?"
"Is it that obvious?" Hiccup sighed as Toothless sat up waiting for his soul brother to continue. "Toothless, you and I both know that dad will never leave us but...But..."
"You're having doubts?"
"No!" A deafening silence went on for a few seconds until Hiccup sighed once again. "Look I have complete faith in dad, but the more I think about it...This kinda reminds me of the time my mom used to be around."
"Go on..."
"For as long as I can remember, even after that battle of the red death, I sometimes got nightmares and she was there. She always promised me that nothing bad will happen to her, and well you know how that ended up. I'm not saying I hold a grudge, I already forgiven him but..." He knelt down to Toothless's level, making sure that the people sleeping stayed asleep. "Toothless don't tell this to anyone especially dad, okay? ...I'm scared."
"You, the great Hiccup Horrendous the Third, scared? Then this really must be serious." Toothless gave him a small lick for comfort as the heir continued.
"This sounds very babyish but I don't want to be alone again...Sure I have my friends, you and dad but I always had this feeling that one day, you'll all disappear in a blink of an eye... I know I'm not afraid of Drago but I don't want to betray the dragons by joining his side, family doesn't betray family.."
"Hiccup, you've been my soul brother for over a year now and I can tell you one thing... You'll never betray us-"
"You're just too compassionate to every living dragon and viking to do something that treacherous," Another voice interrupted, causing both boys to turn around to see that it was none other than Astrid and Heather standing right behind her.
"Astrid?" Hiccup got up on his feet in shock, he thought they were both asleep! "How..How much did you two hear?"
"Quite enough," Astrid answered as she placed her hand on his shoulder, "Want to talk about it?"
He spent five minutes explaining the situation to the girls well ten extra minutes since the rest of the teens joined them below deck since they heard Astrid and saw them heading down so they followed them. Once he done, no one said a word until Heather commented, "Well, I can see why you would worry, I've seen many situations like this. Widows, widowers who abandoned their children to go off with their new love of their life."
"Heather, you're not helping," Astrid hissed and before she could give some advice, Snotlout bumped in with one of his plans, "Hey, I got it! We'll keep a close eye on them, find any sign of Stoick wanting to change back and if he does, we'll be ready to confront him!"
"Snotlout I know my dad, he's not going to leave," Hiccup repeated for the hundredth time that night but he really didn't have much back up when Heather spoke up to add.
"But you'll never know...I meet so many vikings who had one parent to rise them and then leave them, and they claimed the same thing you're saying but they were proven wrong." She looked at Hiccup with a straight face. "You have to watch out for signs Hiccup, you'll never know...It's better to know before hand so you won't get hurt, believe me I've been there..."
"Be quiet you two!" Astrid growled with anger, "This is Stoick we're talking about, the chief of Berk, Hiccup's father; nothing can separate them, not even some romantic feelings."
"Wait, Heather," Ruffnut butted in with intelligence she had for once in her life, "You told us that Hiccup has to watch out for the signs so he won't hurt that you've been there, how do you know about that?"
All eyes were on Heather as she looked away from them until she finally gave in. With a sigh she explained her whole story. "I wasn't on that island just for research; I used to live with my mom just the two of us since my father passed away but she fell in love which I was happy for however I was too blind to see what was about to become of me. The next thing I knew, I came home only to see my mother force me out of the house, telling me to get away from her life. So I left, took a boat and found myself being the leader of the smothering smokebreath dragons." She ignored the shocked and saddened looks of the teens, her attention turned to Hiccup one last time, "Remember this Hiccup; you have to keep your mind open for the small signs or else you'll find yourself in my situation or maybe even worse."
"Then it's settled, we'll keep watch on Stoick for any sign out of the ordinary," Fishlegs agreed as the twins nodded until those three along with Heather and Snotlout got up to head back to sleep, leaving Hiccup alone with Toothless and Astrid.
"Don't worry about those mutton heads Hiccup," Astrid comforted, seeing the distressed look on his face. "They don't know your dad like you do, he won't leave you, and you will never lose sight of what's right...I know I' just repeating stuff but what I'm saying is right, you believe in what you believe alright. You'll see, we'll have fun in this vacation and come back home with every one of us still here."
"You're right Astrid, thanks," He quickly embraced her while they both tried to hold in their blushing until they finally let go and head off back up deck to get some sleep.
However the moment he returned to sleep, he couldn't help but feel that something or someone was following them; just waiting for something bad to happen.
Ok so it's not a scene from the movie but i hope u like this update and review. Until next time
