CHAPTER 17

"Icarrus wake up! I'm taking you for a walk around the courtyard and we are having a picnic in the park." Weiss stormed into my hospital room and stood in front of my bed. She wore a white and purple sun dress and a big wicker hat.

I used my bed remote to sit myself up and slowly turned my head towards the noise I heard at the door.

"Really a picnic? You do remember that I'm barely able to move my head and I can't use my arms right?" I was now looking at the group of people she had brought with her.

"Hello again Icarrus." Pyrrha said as her and Jaune waved at me. Ren and Nora followed suit.

"Icarrus you lazy bum it's been over a month AND your arms aren't useless because you can move your hands." Yang teased which caused Sun to chuckle earning them a nudge from Blake.

"Don't mind Yang Icarrus, she is just trying to hide how happy she is that you are making progress on your recovery. We are all happy that you are getting better." Blake smiled and winked.

"Hey did anybody see that huge statue they have covered outside?" Ruby said as she walked into the room. "Did they just put that there because it wasn't there a couple of days ago?"

I looked at the guy she had with her. "Blue hair?" I accidentally thought out loud causing a couple people in the group to chuckle and others to burst out laughing. "Oh I didn't mean to say that out loud it just threw me off."

The new guy walked over to me. "So I finally meet the famous Icarrus who, with the help of my boy, saved this lovely bunch of ladies and basically the whole kingdom of Vale for that matter." He stuck his hand out to me. "My name is Neptune Vasillias I just transferred her from Haven Academy in Minstral."

I looked down at his hand and back up to him then back to the group. "Nobody told him that I can't move my arms huh?" I sighed. "Sup obviously I'm Icarrus and for now I am partially paralyzed and have very limited movement in my neck and hands." Neptune seemed unfazed by it.

"I was told but from all the stories I have heard and how everyone talks about you with so much pride in their voices I had hoped I would get the chance to shake your hand." He half-smiled and slowly lowered his hand.

I struggled to show him that his and everyone else's hopes were not wasted and I managed to lift my arm about a foot off of the bed. My whole body began to shake as the pain shot through my body and finally my strength gave out and my arm fell but stopped before it hit the bed. I looked up at Neptune who had caught my hand in his and he shook it.

"There now we are properly introduced lets go on that picnic shall we." He grinned from ear to ear.

"He's so smooth." I whispered to Weiss.

"Thanks I do try." He said as he stepped back. "We will leave you so you can get ready and you guys can meet us out in the park."

Everyone gave a quick wave and headed back out the door leaving just Weiss, Blake and Yang. Yang lifted up a small shopping bag and walked over.

"We got you a little gift for saving our lives." She reached into the bag and pulled out an envelope and a small silk wrapped box. "Open the box but wait on the letter till you're alone." She placed the small box in my hands and I tried to open it. It took me a minute but when I managed to open it I pulled out a leather necklace that had a small Team RWBY pendant on it and a silver bracelet that looked like a pair of angel wings.

"You'll always be an honorary member of Team RWBY and you are our guardian angel so we all pitched in ideas for what we should get you." Weiss picked up the necklace and tied it around my neck and slid the bracelet over my arm that didn't have any IV's in it.

I felt my eyes water up and a few tears ran down my cheeks. "You'll have to wait a little while longer before I can continue being your guardian angel." I sniffled as Weiss wiped my tears. "Until then could you help me get dressed so I can go spend time outside of this room?"

All three girls hugged me and pulled me out of the bed and changed my hospital gown and put a thin button up on me and loose basketball shorts. They helped me into a wheel chair and we headed out into the courtyard.

We stopped next to a large crowd of people standing around a statue that was covered. We got there in time to see Professor Ozpin and Ms. Goodwitch standing in front of it speaking to the group. Weiss began pushing me towards the podium that Professor Ozpin was standing in front of. When he spotted me he stepped from the podium and walked over.

"Ladies and Gentlemen here is our very own huntsman in training that managed to take down and entire criminal organization with the help of another, who wishes to remain unknown for the moment, and they also managed to rescue four students who were held hostage." Ozpin handed me a microphone and leaned in. "Icarrus if you would say a few words before we reveal your statue."

"Uh what now?" I stuttered out confused. Weiss leaned down and whispered into my ear.

"Icarrus word of what you did spread like wild fire and before anyone knew what was going on all the citizens of Vale petitioned for a commemorative statue of you to be made." She kissed my cheek.

"Oh uh citizens of Vale, I uh couldn't have done it without the help of a good friend but even though we brought down the corrupted version of what the White Fang had become and saved four of the hostages we, no I failed to save one in particular that meant so much to me." I looked up as Glynda waved her riding crop and the cover fell from the statue.

The crowd remained silent as the came up and gave me their thanks. I had tears flowing yet I let out no audible cry.

A short while later.

"It's ok Icarrus if you strain yourself too much we are going to have to end the picnic early." Weiss said softly as she grabbed the sandwich, I was struggling to lift, out of my hands. I grunted and was about to say something back when she shot me a hurt look. I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth and waited for her to feed me.

After a couple seconds of nothing I looked to her and saw her eating my sandwich.

"Oh so that's how it is? I'll just gra-" I was cut off by the sandwich wedged in my mouth which I chewed on happily. "Sang ooh." I mumbled with my mouth full.

"Don't speak with your mouthful Icarrus have some manners." Weiss wiped some food from my face. I felt my emotions come back with a vengeance and struggled to keep them in but I failed. "Icarrus are you in pain right now?"

"I'm tired of being so helpless. I can't stand not being able to do anything for myself. I can't even pick up a sandwich." I felt like screaming but I couldn't even muster up enough strength to do that.

Everyone stopped smiling and laughing and put their heads down. Sun looked like he was about to say something but he put his head back down.

"I don't want to be a burden on anyone yet here I am, Useless." I whispered. I felt a flick on my forehead and looked at an angry Weiss.

"Stop saying that. You aren't useless you're alive and you are here keeping all of us company and making us laugh and smile. If that's not useful then I don't know what is." She looked like she was going to scream. "You have done so much for us and now we have a chance to repay you and you can't accept that?"

"Please take me back to my room." I stated flatly. "I'm starting to hurt again."

Weiss sat back for a second then leaned forward.

"You can be selfish all you want right now but that won't stop us from wanting to help you get back to your usual self." She stood up and brought my wheelchair over. "Would you like us to help you into it or do you want to prove to us that you still need us like we need you." Her tone was soft and caring.

I looked down then tried to move to my chair causing me to fall over. I heard Ruby and Yang get up then Weiss spoke.

"No let him do it himself since he doesn't want to be a burden on us." I could hear the pain in her voice as she said it but I needed to do this for myself.

I clutched the grass in my hands and pulled myself towards the chair. With each pull the pain grew worse until my hand touched the chair and I collapsed breathing heavily as my vision started to get blurry.

I felt hands grab onto me and lift me into the chair. As my vision cleared I saw Sun and Neptune crouched in front of me.

"Now trying to do something like that is just dumb man." Sun shook his head.

"Slow and steady steps for a smooth recovery Icarrus." Neptune stood and grabbed his stuff. "Well I'm headed out now see you all later. Icarrus good luck on your recovery."

He walked over to Ruby and kissed her and I gave him the (What the hell was that) look and Ruby saw it and walked over to me.

"By the way Neptune and I are dating now. Before you say anything we met a couple days after the whole battle situation and we hit it off. We only made it official yesterday so calm down." She kissed me on the forehead and I gave her the (What the hell was that) as well and she snickered.

I looked to Yang and Blake for some help and they just shrugged and I looked at Weiss and she walked over and began pushing my chair away from the group. I couldn't speak or even move my head so I waited till we got back to my room and she had the nurses lift me into my bed and hook me up on a painkiller drip.

I tapped the edge of my bed with my hand to get Weiss' attention. She walked over and laid on the bed with me.

"I know you're sorry for being stubborn and want to apologize right?" She looked into my eyes and I nodded as best I could. "I forgive you on one condition alright?" I nodded again. "Just let me help you get better ok."

"Okay." I leaned down and kissed her as we fell asleep in each other's arms.

A/N: Weiss' back and forth mood change might have thrown you off right? Well she is sad that he doesn't want their help and mad that he is trying to do stuff himself and he might hurt himself.
