Hey everyone! Happy Easter yayyy!
I hope you're all relaxing and having a great time! Just as I hope that this chapter will make you smile just a little bit, because I couldn't help it when I wrote it. I know some of you might think that their relationship is progressing a bit too slow, but I like it better that way.. It doesn't seem so forced you know?
Anyways! Thanks for the continued support everyone, it makes me so so happy to see a favorite and a follow, especially a review! I love you all lots :3
It was quiet in the dorm-room, the silence only broken by sheets rustling from time to time and the faint sound of breathing. Above Haruka and Rin was Aiichiro Nitori, Rin's roommate, who slept in the top bunk. The Dark-haired teen sighed in frustration. Why couldn't he sleep? Even though he was sharing a bed with someone else, he didn't need any more space. He was actually comfortable as it was, but something else kept him awake. Was it the rays of moonlight filling the room with a strange white glow? Or was it the fact that the person who slept beside him wasn't just anybody? Hesitantly and carefully he turned himself in the bed to see if the other teen was asleep, but what he saw was definitely not someone who was sleeping. Rin was lying on his back, arms behind his neck as his ruby eyes glinted in the dim light. He looked like he was in deep thought, eyes glued to the mattress above them. It was strange how different he looked when he wasn't smiling like a complete idiot or looking angry as he quite often did, no this time his face was completely neutral. He didn't want to admit it, but.. Rin was beautiful. Well, at least in Haruka's eyes.
"Can't sleep?" A lowered voice spoke and nearly made Haru jump out the bed out of pure surprise. Rin was still lying on his back with his head resting against his arms, but had turned his head and was now looking straight into those blue eyes who had been glued onto him for quite some time.
Haruka shook his head quietly, still recovering from the massive shock which had torn him out of his daydreaming. He got distracted by a small snort coming from above them followed by the sound of sheets rustling. Did they wake up Nitori?
"Don't worry, the boy's a heavy sleeper.. Besides he sleeps with earplugs because.. Reasons.." Rin spoke in a lowered voice, but it was easy to make out the embarrassment in it. Reasons? What was that supposed to mean?
Haruka looked confused at the red-haired teen who responded with a shrug.
"I tend to snore.. Sometimes.." He paused, rolling onto his side so that he was now facing his dark-haired rival completely.
"Anyways.. Need me to go get something for ya'? Does your head hurt?" The concern in his voice wasn't forced. Why wasn't he asleep? Was it because he was concerned about Haruka? The thought of that alone touched something deep within the blue-eyed teen who responded with a hesitant shake of his head, running the same sentence through his mind over and over again.
'Is Rin concerned about me? Is Rin concerned about me? Is Rin actually concerned about me?'
Without thinking, Haruka reached out his arm toward him before gently placing his hand on Rin's shoulder. The other teen was confused for a second, his gaze falling upon the hand before following Haru's arm until their eyes met once again. He couldn't help but to let out one single chuckle before he reached one of his own hands out to ruffle the dark hair of his rival. He was strange sometimes, that Haruka, doing the weirdest things and expecting it to be perceived as normal.
"Rin?" That familiar voice calling out his name brought him back to reality where he was greeted by two very intense blue eyes staring at him, dodging his gaze as soon as he stared back. What he couldn't see in the dark was the faint red color painting the dark-haired boy's cheeks.
He didn't say anything in response, just waited.
"..Thank you." It was quiet, almost a whisper, but he heard it. It was rare that the two of them would go as far as to thank each other, but that specific 'thank you' seemed to get to him in some way. It was like a small switch inside of him flicked on, and the red-haired teen shot Haruka a reassuring smile before pulling him into a tight hug. Blue eyes widened as he was taken aback, not knowing how to respond. Even though it was one of those friendly hugs he could still feel his heart skip at least two.. no three beats before settling somewhat down.
"Don't thank me." Rin mumbled, clearly embarrassed by his own actions. It was strange how none of them seemed to move a muscle. They didn't speak either. Haruka let himself calm down before slowly raising one arm to wrap around the silent redhead to return the hug. His other arm was locked between Rin's chest and his own, able to feel both of their heartbeats beat faster than usual. The scent of a familiar cologne, two strong arms around his shoulders and the sound of two heartbeats beating in the same rhythm.. somehow he believed that he was able to fall asleep now. With a faint smile on his lips, Haruka relaxed his body and slowly drifted away as that new and bubbly feeling appeared in his chest once more. This time he didn't question it, this time he welcomed it with open arms.
What was he doing? He couldn't just embrace Haru like that, surely he would feel uncomfortable! Rin carefully released the grip around the dark-haired teen's shoulders as he opened his mouth to apologize, but as he did so a hand pulled the fabric of his tank top as if complaining. That was when the ruby-eyed teen noticed that Haruka was asleep.. Smiling? Suddenly every last bit of embarrassment vanished like dew before the sun and Rin shook his head before wrapping his arms around the slender boy once more. He realized that he was torturing himself by doing this, but that strange yet familiar feeling that hit him each time Haru's hot breath brushed against his shoulder told him otherwise. He wanted more of this. More of Haruka. He had known it for quite some time, the fact that he was falling in love with his rival, but by ignoring it he hoped that it would have gone away. Sure, it did go away for some time, but whenever he was with that damn idiot he couldn't help but to fall in love all over again. It was stupid, this love.
A light chuckle escaped his throat as he rested his chin against Haruka's raven hair and allowed himself to relax. It wasn't exactly a comfortable position he found himself in, but as long as he was able to be this close to the blue-eyed boy he loved so dearly he wouldn't complain.
He had to remember to get those 10 dollars off of Haru tomorrow though.
PS. I know this wasn't as long as I promised you, but I'll try working on making longer chapters so they're actually worth the wait.. heh.. ;-;
