Whoa, almost a month without writing anything for this story? Man, I need to pick up the slack. I thought I would since winter break started last week but since I had a trip away from home...well, it got harder to get things done. That and I'm not really into DP at the moment... I'm actually into Pixar Cars at the moment so don't be surprised if you see a fanfic or two about Cars ^^
Anyways, I will try my best to do more like the other two as I am behind schedule again. Though I'm not sure how it's gunna go as like I said before, I'm not really in a DP mood. I'd rather make Cars fanfics than this at the moment. Not that I'm giving up on this story of course ;)
Well, better get started with the Chapter. Hope you enjoy Chapter 18 of Forgetful Love! :D
DP (C) Butch Hartman
There was an awkward pause of silence before Tucker replied with only a single word that made Danny's bones shatter into a million pieces. He almost wished that Sam had kept the baby, because there was the possibility of it being his. But he knew that he had to let go sooner or later, otherwise it would take over his life. And what if it wasn't his child after all? Then all that worry and care would have been for nothing.
He hung up the phone, almost speechless. He sighed deeply and crashed on his bed with his hands covering his face in guilt. Somehow he felt like all the guilt and regret was on him, when he didn't know for sure whether he should be worried about Sam at all.
Danny was thinking that he should be glad that she gave up the child, but he knew Sam all too well to give up something as much as a child, even if the child wasn't Danny's she would still raise it as her own, Sam knew that the child would have some of her traits too.
"Why do I feel so upset about this? I should be happy!" He cried staring at the ceiling. "Sam won't have a kid so therefore her life isn't ruined, why do I feel so upset about it!?"
He spent the remainder of the afternoon talking to himself about why his emotions weren't reacting the way they should while Sam was back at home thinking about the success of the abortion.
She sighed as she looked out the window; she knew she had to call Danny about it. But she assumed that Tucker had already told him so as she had contacted him first, she was too scared to call Danny about it for some reason. She didn't know why but she had a painful feeling in her gut mentally that made her think Danny was connected to all this somehow.
"If only I knew who the father could've been...but then again, I'm not sure if I would've kept the baby..." She said to herself as she said cross-legged on her bed with her fingers drawing lines on the sheets.
She wondered of anyone else who possibly could've been the father, she couldn't think outside of Danny, but she knew that the amnesia could tell her something different. She was beginning to think that her family and friends weren't doing much to help with Danny and Sam's amnesia situation. It seemed like they were both on their own in this mess.
Thousands of thoughts rushed through her mind; who could've the father been, should have she kept the child, why couldn't she remember anything that happened in the past year? She tossed and turned on her bed, she was glad that her parents didn't come up to see her. She had the whole afternoon to think about everything.
For the remainder of the day, Danny twiddled his fingers and constantly checked his phone and stared at it hoping with anxiety that Sam would call him or he would. He barely ate anything, and barely said anything when someone walked into the room; he wished that Jazz was there to tell him what to do as she always had the best advice for him. But he knew that she wouldn't be back for a while because of her studies, so he was on his own unless he wanted to drag his parents into it too.
Tucker was doing all he could to help the couple remember but he had no luck, he had tried to call Danny but he wouldn't answer. Danny was expecting a call from Sam because he wanted to talk to her more than anyone. He refused to answer the phone if it had Tucker's name on it.
Saturday evening was a very long and restless night for the three teens; Tucker was worried about Danny and Sam while Danny and Sam were worried about each other. They all asked themselves the same question; why were they so worried?
The next day, Danny found himself wide awake with bags under his eyes, he couldn't sleep. He wanted to but for some reason with Sam getting that abortion just made Danny not sleep. He wished it was all a dream but since he didn't fall asleep he couldn't think that way.
He knew he had to call her, but he gave every excuse he could to avoid calling her because of how much a nervous wreck he was.
It was around midday that Tucker had visited him to see what he could do; he knew he had done as much as he could already but he knew that he could do more somehow.
"Danny, I'm here to help." He assured Danny, sitting next to him on his bed.
"I don't know what's wrong with me? All that happened was Sam giving up on her kid. Why does it bother me so much?!"
Tucker bit his lower lip; he wanted Danny to figure it out for himself that he was going to be the father, but knowing how clueless Danny was he had to say something.
"Danny, there's something you should know. And man, I have no idea why i didn't tell you any sooner." He started to say before remembering that he always got interrupted
Danny looked up at his friend, seeing that he had got up to check and close the door before coming back down to sit with him.
"You should know that...you were going to be a father."
"WHAT!?" Danny screamed in pure shock.
His scream echoed throughout the house, and it was almost heard from the lab in which Danny's parents were situated in.
Danny felt his whole life shatter, his insides tense up and his vision fading. He had no idea what to say or think after Tucker told him that. But, after a moment of pure shock, he thought of whether Tucker was telling the truth or not.
"Are you sure? How would you know?" Danny asked, clenching his fist on his chest.
"Sam called me the day after saying that you were going to be late because you two forgot to use protection."
It started to make more sense to Danny, though he could only see a blur in his mind, he could tell that Tucker was telling the truth. He started thinking more in depth with the explanation; it raised many questions that had to be answered.
"But...why would I do that to her? How could either of us forget!?" He cried as tears began to puddle around his baggy eyelids.
Tucker shrugged quickly, Danny stress was being inflicted on him and it was making him feel uncomfortable and stressed out too.
"I don't know, I wish I could tell you! But I guess you're on your own in that one..."
There was an awkward moment of silence, which broke when Danny sniffled and asked Tucker to leave.
"I'm not going anywhere, you need me dude." Tucker assured him.
"Just leave." Danny said in an emotionless tone.
Tucker frowned and tried to see Danny's expression, but it was hidden behind Danny's hands and his black hair. He sighed before slowly getting up from the bed and giving his best friend one last look before silently closing the door on him.
"Why did I do this to her? Why now!? And now she's gotten rid of it!"
It all came crashing down on him; he began to make sense of everything that happened. Unfortunately he was more scared than he was before to even touch his phone to call Sam and tell her. He was too much in doubt but knew it was all true, even if his mind still wasn't as clear as it should be.
He was the father, of a now dead unborn child. He couldn't believe it, he had unprotected intercourse with his girlfriend and they were both so blind to it that they forgot to use protection. All Danny wanted to do now was smack his head against the wall, he wanted all of this to be a dream, but once he felt blood dripping down his forehead from the intense banging on the wall, he knew it all too well to not be a dream.
Meanwhile, Sam was in the middle of having lunch when she received a text from Tucker about Danny. She became very confused and worried when she read the text he sent her.
You need to talk to Danny; he's real stressed out about you.
She would have an idea why Danny was so stressed about her, because Tucker would've told him about the abortion. But why was Danny so stressed out about it? She thought. Neither of them knew who the father was so why was Danny the one being so worried about her? She understood that she was his girlfriend but because no one knew who the father was, there was no need for Danny to worry so much.
So, after finishing her tofu salad, she went back upstairs ignoring the friendly greetings and gestures her parents gave her and locked herself in her room.
"Talk to him? But...shouldn't he be happy?" She asked herself, thinking of many reasons why the abortion was making Danny feel this way. "N-now...I can have a success...ful f-future..." She stuttered, beginning to realise what she just gave up as tears engulfed her lilac eyes.
Instead of calling Danny like she was going to, she realised just what exactly she gave up. She had a part of her removed from her life forever, even though the other half was uncertain she was still extremely shocked and upset by this.
She gave up on a part of her...it was so much to take in, she couldn't believe she had been so blind to realise what she had really given up on. Even if it wasn't Danny's she'd still be greatly upset by losing a part of herself.
Now she had a successful future. She thought to herself, but she can't think outside of what could've been if she kept the potential child, the one thing that frustrated her was that she couldn't remember anything to do with the making of the child. She hated having amnesia, it was worse than flunking a test or missing school for days, and possibly even worse than having bright coloured happy things around her all the time. This amnesia seemed to control her life and Danny's too.
This was what her parents wanted for her, and her parents are almost never happy with any decision she makes. When she realised that this was the only decision that her parents agreed on, she felt a ton full of regret inside.
"My parents are never happy for my choices...why did I have to make such a decision that they would agree with?" She asked herself tightly closing her eyes with her hand clenched over her chest.
Sam didn't mind the fact that her parents finally agreed on something for once, but it was because her parents never agree to anything that Sam does. It felt wrong somehow, Sam was always used to them disagreeing and giving her options that she would most certainly disagree on.
So she carried on crying throughout the afternoon, and she was almost glad that her parents didn't even bother to see her again; however there was a knock on the door just after 6pm. It was her mother.
By this time Sam had running mascara on her face and used tissues on the bed. Sam decided to not let her emotions be present when her parents were around. So she grabbed another tissue to clean herself up and then cleaned up the tissues before letting her mother in.
"Samantha, I've got dinner for you on the table. Are you okay?" She asked with concern, knowing that Sam had been crying because of her loud sobbing.
"I'm fine, mom. Just feeling worried about school that's all." She replied in an emotionless tone.
"Oh, well alright then. " Pamela said with slight suspicion that Sam was lying to her. "Well, did you want to come down for dinner?" She asked again.
Sam turned away from her mother as she felt the tears returning, her mother being around her reminded of how much of a great mother she could've turned out to be. She bent down to pick up some clothes as to not seem like she was hiding something and walked over to her drawers while still not facing directly towards her mother.
"Sure, just give me a minute."
Pamela could tell that something was up; she wanted to ask but felt that now was not the right time to talk to her about it. Even though Sam said she was fine, the emotionless tone in her talk and the emotionless expression on her face indicated to her that she had been doing a lot of thinking. She began to wonder why as she gave one last look to Sam before leaving to go back downstairs.
As she folded her clothes, the tears returned. Sam couldn't help but close her eyes and think of how good a mother she could've been. The only emotion she could feel now was regret and guilt for what she agreed on. It all felt so wrong to her, and there was nothing she could do now that the abortion was over and the child was removed from her, and her life.
After a silent dinner, Sam went back to her room and decided to make up the courage to talk to Danny. She knew that he was a strong and significant part of her life that she never wanted to lose. She started to feel happier when she thought about the future with him. And this gave her enough motivation to call Danny.
Danny's eyes were bloodshot from the lack of sleep he had, he had gone more than 24 hours without proper sleep. Although usually he doesn't get much sleep at all because of ghost fighting but this time it was no sleep at all because of his emotions.
He had his dinner on his bedside table, only his bedside lamp was on keeping the food from getting much colder than normally. Danny hadn't left his room since his bathroom break an hour ago.
Then, he was about to eat some food when he felt his bed vibrate from the vibrations of his phone. He jumped, feeling very anxious and scared that it might be Sam. He reluctantly turned around to see his phone glowing with Sam's name on the calling screen.
He slowly reached towards the phone, feeling very scared about talking to her after what he found out. But before he even got near, he felt as if the vibrations of the phone were becoming more rapid. This was until he realised that it was his increase in anxiety and heart rate that gave the impression that his phone was vibrating quicker.
And finally, Danny took in a deep breath before answering the phone nervously.
"H-h-hello?" He asked, knowing that it was Sam calling but he just wanted to make sure.
"Danny, it's me Sam." She replied, assuring him that it was her calling. "We need to talk."
Oh no. Danny immediately thought. She knows!
Danny clenched the sheets intensely and had an expression on his face that could really tell that he was extremely worried and nervous.
"T-talk..? About what..?" He asked, as if not knowing what she wanted to talk about.
"Danny, don't act so clueless. You know what I'm talking about." She replied in a serious tone.
Danny gulped, feeling his heart pounding out of his chest as he began to sweat uncontrollably and look around his room in anxiety of what Sam would say next.
"The abortion?" She reminded him.
"Oh...that...wait what?" Danny asked, still scared of what she was going to say next.
"I'm calling to tell you that it's okay. You don't need to worry about me so much."
Danny closed his eyes just so he could take in what Sam was telling him for a moment, he knew that he was being overprotective of her like he always does. But now he has a reason why he was being so protective of her.
"Yes, I do. You could've been hurt!" He cried, worried that the abortion may have hurt her in some way.
The tears were returning to Sam's eyes, as she took what Danny said into a mental state. "I know, but I did get hurt. Just not in the way that you think..."
Sam began to sniffle as tears began to roll down her cheeks once again, Danny could tell that in the tone of her voice that she was beginning to feel really upset. He knew what way Sam meant; he could tell that she had been hurt on an emotional level. This was definitely the Sam he knew.
"What do you mean?" Danny asked, needing assurance that it was her being hurt on an emotional level and not literally being hurt.
"It's just that...I can't believe I did that to myself. That baby was a part of me...that I gave up because I was so blind to the fact that it was shaping my future!"
Danny began to feel confused, and then he felt the rush of guilt and anxiety. He knew that she was very close to mention anything related to the father. It was then that Danny would have to tell her otherwise he would lose his mind if he didn't.
"Maybe this was the way it was supposed to be. I mean, I know you would love to be a mother someday but I don't think now is the right time, because we're so young." He explained in a sympathetic tone.
Sam sniffled before replying once again. "I know it's just that I didn't realise what I had until it was gone. And now...now I just..." She stuttered, not knowing what to say next before she managed to say something else. "I just wish I didn't have amnesia!" She cried.
Danny felt a strong connection with Sam's situation, he didn't even care now that Sam didn't bring it up, and he had to tell her. But when he thought of the state she was in, he knew that it would only make her feel worse and hence will make him feel even worse too.
But then, Sam said the word that signalled to Danny that it was time to tell her what he had found out.
"I just wish I knew who the father could've been!"
"Sam...I need to tell you something..." Danny began to say quietly, as his nerves began to get the best of him again.
"What?" Sam asked, still sounding upset.
"I know that this is most definitely not...the right time to tell you but..."
Danny bit his lower lip in nervousness, he knew it. This was it. He had to tell her that he was the father. He knew that it would make Sam feel worse but he just had to get it off his chest otherwise he would have another sleepless night. Then again Danny began to think that he would have another sleepless night anyway.
"I was the father."
Ha! Cliffhanger again! Again, sorry for not updating this story like I should but i promise you that I will do one more Chapter in the next 4 days, possibly even within the next 24 hours so I can get more progression out of this story. But I'll most definitely have it done by next Monday so you guys don't have to wait so long.
Well, expect Sam's response first thing in Chapter 19, and hopefully you enjoyed a slightly longer chapter. I think I might just make them longer than 4 pages now since I seem to keep falling behind in updating this... ^^;
