Ugh, why do I have school lessons during spring break? Do they seriously not trust me enough to get the work done on my own? *sigh* But putting that aside, yay it's spring break, time for more Chapters! ^^ Now, I've been thinking of giving myself an aim for this story. I've been thinking of finishing it before I graduate, that may seem easy but I graduate near the end of this month so it might be a bit difficult but I am glad to have this spring break to help me with that ^^
Anyways, the previous Chapter was quite a lot to take in wasn't it? I know it definitely was to me, but I had to get things moving along somehow. And expect a few more time skips (but not too many to rush it) in these next few chapters, just so I don't drag it for too long.
Enjoy Chapter 25 of Forgetful Love! :D
DP (C) Butch Hartman
It had only been a day but Danny already felt nervous, excited, terrified, and filled with joy all at once to know that he and Sam would soon be having a child together. Unfortunately it would be another 8 months until it would be official for the two of them.
They had called a personal doctor and decided to keep the ghost powers a secret, knowing any strange symptoms the doctor notices would be the signs of ghost powers. Sam had been checking in every two weeks so that the doctor could monitor her progress, and so far there hadn't been many signs that were out of the ordinary, but Sam knew that the baby would be half ghost because of Danny's changed genes and for the fact that she had ectoplasm in her bloodstream.
But, there had been the argument of when Sam's mother told the Fenton's about what had happened, and they definitely didn't take it lightly.
"You knocked her up!? I raised you better than that! I even remember you telling me so!" Maddie cried, remembering Danny and Sam getting dressed after the sleepover.
Danny was in between his mother and father and felt tiny with them overpowering them with strong words of hurt, he wished Jazz was around to back him up but she was busy with her studies for the next week and a half that she couldn't.
"I'm sorry, I never meant for this to happen!" Danny pleaded, giving an expression of guilt and sadness. "I never wanted to hurt her."
"Well the least you could've done was use protection!"
"Yeah, I thought we told you to play it safe. You kids and all your hormones that's what!" Jack exclaimed, folding his arms.
"Dad! I'm eighteen! I'm not a kid anymore, it's time you guys stop treating me that way! Look, I know I'm the younger sibling but that doesn't mean I'll be young forever." Danny explained, using hand gestures to prove his point.
"You'll still be our little boy in our books." Maddie replied, beginning to cry as she huddled over towards Jack for comfort.
Jack hugged Maddie in warmth and care, knowing that this was reaching too much into their hearts and pulling them out with fear and anger. "Young man, I don't want you ever seeing her again! After what you did you deserve to be punished!"
Danny face palmed with a loud and annoying grunt. "Don't you get it Dad? You can't punish me anymore! I'm eighteen; I can do what I want when I want!"
"You can make your own decisions when you get a job and a house of your own, you got it mister!? You're under our roof, and you'll do as you're told! Now go to your room! I'll decide your punishment with your mother later." Jack demanded, looking away in disgust from his own son.
Danny blew a puff of air in frustration and angrily stomped upstairs and slammed his door shut; he fell onto his bed and buried his face in guilt. This was one of those times he didn't want to happen but he saw it coming from a mile away.
It wasn't long later that his punishment became final, he was now back on a permanent curfew until he had a job and left the house, and he had to tell his parents in advance where he was going if he were to leave the house.
As a month went by, Sam didn't show any physical signs of her pregnancy but her other symptoms were starting to calm down. Her arm was very close to being fully functional again too, meaning that in a couple of weeks she would be able to use her other arm again.
Meanwhile Danny had been doing all he could to protect her and take care of her when he could. Sam had still not talked to her parents, especially her mother since her mother told her to leave. Tucker did suggest to Danny to scare her parents into making her come back but Sam thought that would be wrong, she knew she had to confront them but now just wasn't the time.
Two and a half months into her pregnancy, she visited the doctor for her fortnightly check-up. This time Danny came with because she had a surprise for him, thinking to herself that she might be carrying more than just one additional load.
"You say there's something I should know? Please don't tell me it's a bad thing. I told my parents I was going to the video game store with Tucker, and phoned him to make sure that my parents wouldn't track me down. I don't want Tucker going to the video game store because something bad happened to you."
Sam smiled as she walked towards the entrance of the hospital. "Relax Danny, it's nothing too serious. You might actually be in a bit of a shock if my suspicions are true." She replied with a gleaming smile as she walked through the automatic doors.
"I hope so...wait a minute, shocked?" Danny asked, registering what Sam just told him.
Sam didn't reply, instead she went up to the front counter and asked for her doctor and said that she had an appointment with her.
"Sure thing, just wait here and she'll be right with you."
Sam thanked the receptionist and sat down near a table of magazines and a few other people, Danny sat next to her and held her hand almost tightly as they looked around aimlessly waiting for the doctor to call Sam's name, and possibly even Danny's.
It was around ten to fifteen minutes later that they were called in, they followed the doctor to the check up room and Sam immediately went to the bed and began to feel sleepy all of a sudden. Danny went to sit down in a chair near the desk, but Sam grabbed his hand suddenly which startled him, almost causing him to panic.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?"
"Nothing..." Sam mumbled before yawning. "I just need to stay awake; this bed is just so comfortable..." She said as her voice trailed off and her eyelids felt heavier and heavier before closing.
"Sam, wake up. Sam?" Danny asked shaking her a little, but then she was out like a light.
"No need to worry, it seems like the baby has been keeping her awake at night." The doctor assured him, looking over some papers before gesturing to a seat. "Sit, I'll let Sam have her rest. I don't have an appointment until six so that's plenty of time to ask you some questions."
Danny gulped in nervousness. "Questions?" He asked, feeling sweat dripping down his forehead.
The doctor could see that he was getting nervous. "Don't worry Mr Fenton, there's no need to think I'm interrogating you for something bad, she told me that it was a mistake and these things happen. Don't blame yourself for this." She assured him patting his hand which was laid out on the desk.
Danny quickly moved his hand away, feeling uncomfortable that a stranger was touching it.
The doctor smiled slightly at him before returning to speaking again by clearing her throat. "So, Mr Fenton. I'd like to know a little about your background, about your genes."
Danny almost cringed in fright when she mentioned genes, it seemed like keeping ghost powers a secret was harder than he thought. But when he saw the innocent and calm look on the doctor's face he knew that she wasn't asking about that.
"Oh...well what do you want to know about my genes?"
"Did you have any trouble when you were...oh let's say when your mother was pregnant with you?"
Danny almost gagged at the thought of it; he didn't want to think of his mother in that way. "How would I know? I never asked, and I don't want to know anyway."
"Well," The doctor began to say with a small chuckle towards Danny's disgust. "It may seem unpleasant to you but to me it's vital information that can ensure that Sam doesn't have any pregnancy symptoms that are out of the ordinary.
"Oh..." Danny started, giving a guilty and hesitant laugh. "Funny you should say that...Well...I do remember that I was born earlier than planned. Would that affect Sam's due date? Oh, by the way when is she due? She didn't tell me yet. Don't know why either." He asked, looking over at Sam with concern and slight suspicion as to why she hadn't told him the due date yet.
"That's a surprise, maybe she's just worried of what you'll think, or for the possibility for it to fall on a date that might be very significant to one of you or both." She explained, intertwining her fingers and leaning more forward towards Danny.
He nodded in reply, but then his anxiety grew when she hadn't told him the due date yet. Danny bit his lower lip and rocked the chair back in forth nervously. "So...what's the due date?" He asked hesitantly.
The doctor looked up on her computer, typed a few things to find it and then looked over at Danny with a smile. "March 23rd."
Danny gasped, that was the same day as his birthday. No wonder Sam hadn't told him yet, it was because she was due on his birthday. Luckily his 19th wouldn't really be that special anyway compared to his 21st. He gave a surprised expression in response to the due date. The doctor chuckled, seeing that the date was important to him.
"I'm guessing that's an important date for you?" She asked, smirking.
Danny looked wide eyed at the doctor for a moment before releasing a puff of air. "Well yeah that's my birthday."
"Oh." The doctor replied with a wide eyed surprised expression, but then a small happy smile. "Well, you might be sharing your birthday with your child."
"Yeah." He replied.
So for the next half hour or so, while Sam took a short nap Danny and the doctor talked about each other and Danny's family and what the baby could possibly have from Danny's genes. In the back of Danny's mind was only one thing that he didn't discuss with the doctor, and that was that the baby will have Danny's ghost DNA.
A small yawn and the sound of cracking noises as an arm and legs stretched indicated that Sam was now awake. She sat up and saw Danny sitting with the doctor at her desk discussing Danny's family as well as what he knew about Sam's family. They both turned to her to see that she was now awake.
"Afternoon sleepy head." The doctor greeted as she got out of her seat and proceeded over to Sam. "How are you feeling?" She asked.
Another stretch Sam made before she replied, but as she opened her mouth another yawn escaped, making Danny yawn as well.
"Sam...You know yawns are contagious." Danny implied as he yawned, ending it with a smirk.
"I know..." Sam replied, blinking her eyes slowly, adjusting herself. "It's just I don't get much sleep as I used to. But I think that nap will enable me to function for a few more hours." She added, smiling at her doctor.
Her doctor nodded with a smile in response as she walked over to the ultrasound equipment. "Okay so first we're going to check the baby's movement and heartbeat; afterwards I'll check your blood pressure." The doctor implied, giving a small smile throughout.
Sam nodded and laid back down on the bed while Danny got up and moved to her side, it was weird yet soothing to be here with Sam. He had never done this before, and he wondered if Sam has had an ultrasound yet, but by the way things were going and how calm Sam and the doctor were it seemed that they had already done this. Danny just hoped that nothing unusual would happen, and what about what Sam told him about earlier? He thought.
As the doctor prepared the gel and the monitor equipment, Sam pulled up her black lace shirt to reveal her stomach with still no visible signs of a tiny baby growing inside of her, the doctor was a little surprised to see no change since last time she saw her.
"It shouldn't be too long before you start showing on the outside. Usually for first time mothers it takes a while for it to show, but that also depends on how many are growing inside." She added with a small wink to Danny.
This made Danny's heart beat increase in anxiety, could there be more than one baby growing in that belly of Sam's? Was this what Sam was talking about earlier that could possibly make Danny feel shocked? A million thoughts ran through his mind, all causing him extreme anxiety. He tried not to show it but the sound of Sam giggling indicated otherwise.
"I see you're getting nervous." Sam teased, giggling a little more.
"No I'm not; I'm just...uh..." Danny was stumped; he didn't know what to reply with.
The doctor interrupted with rubbing cool light blue coloured gel onto Sam's warm skin, causing a chill to run down her spine. She then ensured that the monitor was visible for Danny and Sam then proceeded to rub the gel more before grabbing the probe to rub against Sam's stomach and show what was inside her. Danny kept his eyes peeled on the monitor, waiting to see what he had created.
And then...breathless. He saw it, Sam did too. A tiny forming head and the sound of a rapid tiny heartbeat.
"There it is...a tiny little baby growing inside. Around 9 weeks old."
Danny was speechless; he didn't know what to say. He was looking at him...a part of him inside the only person he's loved the most. It was an amazing sight to see what one night can create between two people.
"Just...wow. I can't believe it...there's really someone growing inside of you, isn't there?" Danny said in amazement as he looked down at Sam and held her hand.
"There sure is, what you thought I was kidding this entire time? We both know our amnesia was because we wanted to prevent this from happening but look at what we created. I can't wait until I get to hold it in my arms." Sam stated with a gentle sigh as she gazed at the monitor.
But then, a gasp of excitement escaped the doctor's mouth and made Danny and Sam immediately look up in curiosity as to why she gasped.
"What is it?" Danny immediately asked, starting to feel anxious again.
"Well now, it seems like there's not only one bundle of joy on the way." She implied with a childish smile, looking over at the couple with joy.
Danny and Sam looked at each other with worry, but Sam felt more excited than worried. She knew it, her suspicions were correct; she knew she wasn't carrying just one inside her. But how many? She thought. She hoped it didn't exceed three; she doesn't want to grow too large for her to feel uncomfortable.
"How many is in there?" Sam questioned, giving a faint smile as she looked up at the monitor.
"Congratulations you two, you're expecting twins."
"Twins!?" Danny shrieked, almost passing out from shock.
"That's wonderful! I can't wait to see what gender they might be!" Sam cried with excitement.
So Sam was right, she didn't know how she could tell she was carrying more but she knew it to be true, and now her suspicions were confirmed, she was relieved that it was twins and no more than that. Danny, on the other hand was feeling faint, he was overwhelmed with shock from realising Sam was carrying two instead of one like he thought. This made Danny worry more intensely about the ghost powers they could possess.
"I didn't think that night would be able to make more than one!" Danny stated, after taking in a long deep breath.
"Well these things do tend to be rare for some people, but it's usually genetic."
Sam remembered that her cousins were twins and her dad was a non-identical twin, it had to be the result of her side of the family.
"Don't worry Danny; it's not because of you. Twins are very common among my family, I'm actually a little surprised mum didn't have a twin." Sam said, looking down at her belly with a small smile.
Danny couldn't say anything else; this was so much for him to take in. First he saw the movement and the sound of a little heartbeat that made him melt and then he realised that there were two of them in there. It was quite indeed a big shock for the expecting Dad who was expecting the unexpected.
Hopefully I haven't been skipping too much for you guys but there's not much else within this story that I can keep along for a long time. I won't say what's left to do but I think you guys already know, I just don't want this story going on forever. There is still that Cars FanFiction I've been working on lately and I want to get that posted soon.
So hope you enjoyed the Chapter and sorry about the slight delay, had a sleepover and my sleeping schedule got really messed up. I may or may not do another Chapter within the next week. You'll just have to wait and see. ;)
